LG L70 "Phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked". Is there any fix? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

LG L70 "Phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked". Is there any fix?
Hello,
I got an LG L70 MS323 from the US and I live in Europe. I ordered an unlocking code, but the unlocking menu shows "Phone is permanently locked and cannot be unlocked".
Is there any way to fix this? I had the phone for the last couple of months and no one ever tried to unlock it...

What carrier, what android version, any root, any ROM, any kernel? What have you done to your device?

LG L70 MS323 is MetroPCS' LG L70 variant. Android version si 4.4.2 stock rom, no root. I haven't done anything, that's why I'm asking for a solution. Ultimately, I'll get it to a local GSM shop in my city and someone will, luckily, unlock it for 20 bucks. But I thought there might be a way to reset that counter, obviously blocked by MetroPCS.

Unfortunatly, you have to spend that extra buck . Some carriers use software to not allow any sim card except theirs, that can, obviously be tampered with , but not this .

No. The AT&T/GoPhone/Cricket branded XT1527 cannot be bootloader unlocked, and therefore cannot be rooted.

You can try using Kingroot, but it probably won't work.

No, you have to unlock the bootloader to flash stock 6.0 from another region.

thanks for your assistance in view of the circumstances'll have to sell the device just 2 days has been sold, so no use to me, that disappointment I would have to have been with xt1021 he had.
This happened to me as well. The guy sold it to me as "factory unlocked" except when I got it, it was an AT&T GoPhone.
I'm still trying to figure out how mad I should be. I always thought "factory unlocked" meant no branding. i.e. a "factory unlocked" Moto E would be a Moto E that you can (or used to could) purchase directly from motorola.com. I always thought a "factory unlocked" phone wouldn't have an AT&T stamp on the back or show the AT&T logo when booting up. But maybe I'm wrong.
I think what he meant was "sim unlocked" where you can use the phone on AT&T, T-mobile, or other GSM networks.

If they really did say "factory unlocked", then that's enough grounds for you to return it. The GoPhone model was sold locked, but could be unlocked via AT&T's SIM unlock website, for free, immediately after purchase. "Factory unlocked" means it was never SIM locked, so that would be the Moto-direct model, the Verizon model, and the US Cellular model.
Unfortunately, the AT&T/GoPhone/Cricket model and the Moto-direct model are the same device (same LTE bands and all), so it's hard to find an actual Moto-direct model, short of of buying from Moto's website.
Well, I really didn't pay that much for it. That probably should have been a red-flag from the start. I might just keep it as a backup phone.
But I do think this kind of underscores how the term "unlocked" is just being thrown around. Sometimes it means factory unlocked, but often times it just means sim unlocked. And nobody understands the difference. So "unlocked", "factory unlocked", "sim unlocked" that all means the same thing to everyone.

Don't forget about the bootloader too (unlocked, unlockable, not unlockable). I can definitely see how all these different locks can be confusing to those who don't live and breathe cell phone tech.
Is that different too?
I really thought "factory unlocked" meant that the bootloader could be unlocked. Or at least for Motorola phones, which has a website that's pretty much dedicated to that sort of thing.
I always though "factory unlocked" meant that the phone was shipping without a carrier specific OS. So instead of seeing the AT&T symbol on boot, you'd just see the Motorola symbol and animation and then the Android home screen. I suppose that doesn't automatically mean that they could be bootloader unlocked, but I figure it's always easier to unlock the bootloader on a phone like that.
I know AT&T puts stuff in their Android variant that kind of cripples the OS and forces you to pay to use certain features of the OS. Being able to unlock the bootloader and circumvent that, would mean that you are able to get a cheaper phone and enjoy all the features. So I can understand why they don't allow the bootloader to be unlocked.

When talking about "factory unlocked", it refers to the SIM never being locked to a carrier to begin with. However, not all factory unlocked phones qualify for Moto's bootloader unlock website. For example, Verizon devices are factory unlocked (never had a SIM lock), but only a few (Moto X, Moto X 2nd, I think there's a third Verizon Moto phone that was sold as a "dev edition") qualify for Moto's bootloader unlock website.
marketers must begin to see the difference between "sim unlock" and "phone unlock" because it is not the same. For example, I know the difference between the two, but I did not know was that the devices at & t could not unlock the bootloader them.Ask for a refund is not an option for me because of the circumstances in to buy the device, but for now I think i get be hoping att to upgrade it to android 6.0. at least with android 6.0 could settle the matter of little internal storage and could keep the smartphone.

Moto has stated that none of the US models will be getting 6.0, so you're stuck on Lollipop.
are offering me the model xt1526 with android 6.0 already installed, however this model have not seen him commercially there, except with the operator bootmobile sprint. I be advisable to change the AT & T for this? You can unlock the bootloader to that model?

unofficial unlocking method for LG G5 h850 ???

Hi there,
since LG ended its bootloader unlocking Service on December 31 - 2021, is there a chance that there will be an unofficial unlocking method in the near future?
Just got a LG G5 h850 which is still looked :-(
Thanks

NO it did not work!!!
so I tried
Unlocking the bootloader
Download and Boot FWUL/mAid
Always download the latest iso file

Start SALT (folder LG)
Select backup and create a full backup of your device
Check ARB value (must be 0, 1 or 2 but not higher then 2)
Open the Advanced menu
Select Unlock G4 (UsU)
Follow the instructions
but since i have a G5 850
when i select Unlock G4 (UsU)
I get an ERROR message saying: "Your Download mode version is not supported ! Downgrade to LP or MM !
So I´m not sure what that means..
Hi there. I am a user of LG G5 h860. The loader is locked. Please tell, are there any ways to unlock loaders in 2022? Are there alternative ways to download the firmware?
Greetings from Ukraine!
I also have H850 ZAF and would love to run lineageos
It does not look like you will be successful. Unlocking bootloader inofficially is not really easy, as it requires hacking the public key infrastructure used to protect the bootloader.
Check out there: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-for-offline-bootloader-unlock.3603855/page-5
All emails towards LG will be rejected explaining that they do not offer the unlock service anymore. Unbelievably dissapointing, but true. Also I bought the h850, but now I have no use anymore for it. Wasted money.
Just came across this thread, so I just bought a replacemnt h850 from ebay. Very disapointed by LG. :-(
Is there a way to unlock the bootloader today, a friend of mine gave me his phone to unlock it but it isn't so easy I realized. Thanks for all help.
I would move on. I did, even though I've recently bought H850 for family member. Nobody is working on hacking old, cheap, obsolete phones and there is 0% chance LG is changing their minds.
this is very bad, I ordered the phone from eBay from the EU 850 (180eur) version from the seller with a 1 year warranty, new, unopened packaging. In our country there is a service that does unlocking, unlock bootloader, upgrade to LineageOS. I don't know if they will do it for LG G5 if there is a big problem with the bootloader.
I'll have to stay with Android 8 if I get the update. The phone will have if I understand the gsm arena site Android 6 from factory.
Maybe someone smarter than me, this Black Hat Briefings presentation will help find a way to unlock our phones?
I am a noob so I understand a maximum half of it, but maybe it will help someone find a solution.

This looks plausible?
Could just be clickbate but someone went to a lot of trouble to make it if so

I tried to downgrade my H850 to MM. But it didn't work. Same error message "Your Download mode version is not supported ! Downgrade to LP or MM !".
I think it only works for G4.

This appears to be a tool for the G4, not the G5. Unless I'm missing something about them adding G5 functionality, my guess would be that's why it doesn't work.

Unlock LG v60 Verizon or flash another rom

Hi! I got an LG from ebay and right now I'm outside USA.
The phone I received was locked to Verizon and they said that only the original owner can request the unlock, so after paying importation fees etc I have no option but pay for unlock or flash another firmware, since the phone it's only locked from firmware,
When I insert the sim I have voice and data service for 2/3 minutes and then this screen comes where it says that the phone can't be unlocked right now
I have looked online and there is a site named 'movical' that may unlock the phone via pc software.
has anyone successfully flash another carrier ROM to this device?
Is there a way to bypass this activation?
Is this site safe to use?
Thank you very much!
Did you get an answer to this yet? I have the same problem

Hi! I still have the phone locked, I took it to a big unlock company in Cancun last week and they said that there is a website that asks for 60 USD and I told them to go ahead and paid it, but the manager said that they know that it's only a patch and that if you apply a factory reset it will erase the patch, updating the software will be fine , unless it's a major update (different version of Android) so they will let me know when they have a permanent solution, if I can unlock the V60 UW I will let you know. See you!
I paid the unlock in movical.net and they could not unlock the phone, the reply was that the phone has a debt with payments in Verizon

Question Any way around "Locked device"

This phone was given to me by a friend, he says he got drunk, changed his lock code and doesn't remember. After a factory reset it just stays on a screen asking for a Tracfone SIM and he kept his SIM & moved halfway across the country.
I just wanna know if there is any means around this?
I called Tracfone, gave them the IMEI & they told me the phone will be eligible for unlock in about a month, I don't wanna wait as I can't root my S22 Ultra and I just wanna get back in the rooting scene, LOL
I know, call me impatient....
I apologize, I didn't notice a post w/ same issue but on a Cricket phone whereas mine is Tracfone but same situation.

What's the Model and build number? Is the bootloader locked or unlocked? Without knowing much detail I'd recommend finding the firmware that matches your phone and fastboot flash that or at least TWRP recovery if you can find one that works with yours and then you'd have more flexibility. This is all if your bootloader has been unlocked already though and if it hasn't I'd start looking through some threads on how to do that if you don't already know how to. If it's possible with your variant too I know carrier devices are pretty strict on unlocking the bootloader but Idk about tracphone variants.
It's not unlocked.
It's the Tracfone Moto G Power
Look up a thread here on xda about unlocking the bootloader for Motorola devices and come back here if you can unlock it. You'll have to do that before you can even flash anything such as partitions like a custom recovery.
