lineage os - Verizon LG G3

any news from lineahe os rom for vs985 other lg g3 have this rom

I would look in the Original Development forum for any news possibly if it ever comes to the VZ985. From the Lineage OS web site, it only lists the D855, so until they update that page, or if someone else downloads the source and ports it to the VS985, I doubt we'll see it, especially since this is over 2 years old and most developers have probably moved on to bigger and better things.
And just because other versions of a phone have it, doesn't mean it will be available for all versions. It all depends on which versions of the phone the developers have.

thank you for info.. and wich the best rom for battery life?

I unfortunately can't help you there. First, I no longer have my G3 as it died back in December. Sad day.
Secondly, I ran stock, unrooted and I was able to get about 1.5 days on a full charge, as long as I didn't play my games. lol

Good news! LineageOS 14.1 will be rolling out for vs985 this week.

As it is an initial release, there might be some bugs, but as far as I know, I haven't found out any, but battery optimisation is not so good and the phone heats up. And I think many features are missing, because the file size of lineageos for d855 is around 390mb and that of vs985 is only around 350 mb.
I hope they'll add all of the features in future updates.
Also, if you were using substratum, you cannot use it in this rom very well because this is not a substratum (masquerade) enabled rom. I reverted back to Resurrection remix today.

Ive been running it since yesterday. some issues:
I can onlyget root through ADB, despite flashing the Super SU twice. They are aware of this issue
I couldnt' get Gapps to install correctly. That may be due to the fact that I tried to use The Aroma package. I'm not familiar with that one.
You cannot turn on developer options, tapping the build number 8 times only brings you to the home screen and a large logo that wont' go away until restart.
It's very early for this release and it looks good so far. I''ll be back, but I just bought this device (for development/learning purposes) and I want to try some more roms

Thanks for the heads up about early issues on LineageOS. When I saw they had a version for the VS985 I figured it might be worth some risk to check it out. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I couldn't get it to flash.
I am on Android Version; 5.0.1
Baseband; VS985-MPSS.DI.2.0.1.c1.13.00073-M8974AAAANPZM-1
Kernel; 3.4.0-perf-g2d182d3
Build number; LRX21Y
Software Version; VS98524B
I tried unsuccessfuly to flash the 35B bootstack so I could never get into LineageOS 14.1. (It looks for 35B during install) Maybe I will wait a while and see if LineageOS cleans up a bit before trying to flash it again.

[Q] Any one working on MIUI?

So the very first ROM to get posted was a not very functional MIUIv5 port. Since then it is pretty much stock and AOSP variations.
I was poking around and saw that en.miui.com has a ROM posted for LG G3 Single SIM. Has anyone tried this on our phone.
My guess is that it is not BUMP'd and for some Chinese unlocked version of the phone.
What will happen if we flash a non BUMP'd ROM onto our phone? Will it brick or can we restore from NAND or re-flash?
I remember running MIUI on my OG, since then though stock and AOSP have been fantastic.
I'd love to see a functional MIUI port on this device. I've always been a big fan of MIUI.
Same here, I actually love MIUI and its UI and themes, would be great to have one fully working again for our G3s

In fact this rom, is the one we saw in November (made by rogue). This rom uses stock kernel, and is compatible with d850 vs985 ls990 d851 d855 d852 f400s f400k f400l
Do you know how stable that version is?

Are you referring to this one? I kind of wanted to give it a shot but was afraid to. Does anyone know if PA Gapps would work with it?

EDIT: I went ahead and flashed it, and everything seems to work except data. It's unbelievably fast and smooth, which makes me wish I could figure out how to get data to work. Thoughts?

CM11 getting monthly builds?

Just noticed CM11 official for hltevzw is now getting monthly builds... funny, we have no CM12 or CM13!
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=hltevzw&type=
It got me thinking, though... there are a ton of KK/based roms that are very smooth. In fact, I still think kitkat is the best base for this device as far as stability and battery life. Just look at the size of some of the custom ROMS like DU (180-190 MB) and the fact that they boot in under 20 seconds... even on the initial boot. Crazy efficiency.
I am sure that most people here disagree and interest in running CM11 is pretty low. But it still seems like it should be an option... especially since it is the most current official CM we have (last build is 6-12-2016)
The problem is that the radio in Kitkat doesn't work when coming from OF1. Theoretically, it should work if you ODIN back to KK... but that is not an option given the root/unlock scenarios we have.
So, question is...how do we get the radio working on CM11 coming from OF1... hmmm
I like your thinking mightysween. I saw the same thing last week and wondered myself. Can this be done?

It would seem that flashing the modem would work... but I tried two KK modems with no luck.
Will post some logcats, and maybe we can figure out the right combo.
IDK I am now strongly considering downgrading to 4.4.2. There are a whole lot more stable ROMS available for KitKat than Lollipop for this device. I might pull the trigger this weekend. Currently investigating viability.
Any luck on this?

Not yet... but wow. If you put a new looking theme on any of the refined CM11 based stuff (like DU), people would be abuzz about how smooth and responsive this "new" rom is. I think these older devices are just happier with the older android versions.
Just can't seem to make the radio work...
Have tried as far back as NC4/NK1 modems... but they either don't work at all or exhibit the same problems as OF1.
I wonder if @Moepda might have any insight having worked on sm900 ROMS through the 4.4 to 5.1 updates...
Seems that there must be a modem that would work...or is the newer bootloader version a problem in running 4.4 based roms?
Well... Stupid me never checked to see if ODIN flashing the modems was actually working. It is not! I have tried both tar.md5 versions and directly flashing the modem.bin, and while it appears to work and ODIN says "pass", the modem stays on OF1.
So that's the issue...
That said, it is not a radio problem in general, it is an LTE registration issue. So, when set to 3g only it works AOK!
If I can figure out how to get the flash of NK1 or NC4 modem to stick, I believe LTE would work...

There used to be flashable modems here on XDA, but all the links are dead. I suppose I could just make one and try.
FWIW, I am running an OLD Dirty Unicorns moepda build from 2014, and it is quite refreshing after so long with cm12 and cm13. Fast, stable, and seemingly lacking nothing I use compared to CM12/13

No steps at all, really... it just works. Flashed and then switch to 3g preferred.
I don't need LTE... so I haven't spent much time trying to figure it out. Both this old DU and CM11 monthly are working fine as long as LTE is shut off

I am going to give this a whirl. I have always had trouble with finding the right gapps for KitKat though. Which did you select?
Notice much drop off in using 3G instead of LTE?
BTW In an earlier post I mentioned I was going to downgrade. Well, that's not really possible and you might already know that. I attempted 4.4.2 and was abruptly stopped by the bootloader. I did read though that 4.4.4 was possible, but if we can do all this and get a stable ROM that has GPS and Bluetooth functional why bother?

I am on wifi about 90% of the time, and when I am not it is usually while driving. So having only 3g doesn't bother me.
Bluetooth and GPS seem to work fine... GPS is certainly faster and more stable than LP/MM

Oh, and I just use open gapps nano... works fine
I take that back... You need to set the preferred network to LTE, let it connect (and then fail), and THEN set to 3G in order for it to stick.
Love the feature set from DU, but have to say that the 6-12-2016 nightly is pretty smooth.

Help! Flashing LineageOs or any other Custom Rom
Dear I had been trying flash many Custom ROMS as I were on on stock ROM when I got LG g3 vs985 which was androids 4.4.2. Just want to upgrade it, any I easy flashed Fulmics 6.5 MM, rooted too, I had been using same ROM for a year & it upgrade up to 7.0, and afterwords I directly flashed Fulmics 7.5 coz I was going to hard reset it I anyhow flashed the complete system, by then I tried many other ROMS but just Fulmics get along.
Now for few days I had been reading about RR Roms, they seem to be more efficient, battery status seemed fine, and a lot of features I think I would be going to experience with it. Actually I managed to flash Fulmics ROM while watching RR ROM installing tutorial on LG g3. I wonder since then how come I could not install Rsurrection remix on my LG g3 vs985, according to Ressurection tutorial, but I am get eager now what is the hurdle, lately when I was on Fulmics Roms I got error of baseband binart updater in twerp recovery, now I roll over back to Stock ROM 4.4.2, rooted & installed twerp recovery, I happily tried to clean flash LineadeOS 14.1 nightly vs985 or Ressurection remix v 5.38 nightly vs985 along with the gasps, unfortunately I went for RR Nightly with bump afterwards flashing apps which they provided with current nightly but i failed again to flash it. Today I got the ernightlyboot stake I guess, I don't remember exactly.
I guess I went along with long story but finally I m going for LineadeOS 14.1 vs985 nightly, as I restored my cell to stock, and I need ur assistance, I m going to provide u with my cell info;
Phone name & Model; LG G3
Androids Version; Kit Kat 4.4.2
Build Number; KVT49L.VS98510B
Software Version; VS98510B,
That is all, I would attach a screenshot with my post for better assistance, I hope you guess enter my problem with detailed solution for CyanogenMod 14.1 or LineageOS 14.1, I will be waiting for ur response.
Thank.
I"ve been having pretty bad battery life. I can usually survive the day with about 25% remaining. Recently I started looking at the Privacy Guard and I was surprised how many apps had "Start on boot" and run in the "Background" ... things such as The Walmart and Amazon apps and a BUNCH of others. Those apps which usually give you ****ty alerts about deals and craps. I turned a lot of that stuff off, and now my battery life has improved. Today will be the biggest test, to see where I'm at in 2 hours. Yesterday I woke up at 7:30am and by 9:30am I was at 80% .. so about a 20% drop in 2 hours.
So everyone may want to go through their privacy guard and turn off apps you don't want running in the background. I have found my phone does seem more responsive now too.
Update... I'm now at 80% after 5 hours .. so a 1.6 per hour drop instead of 10% per hour ... yay!

I had this happen for months and wasnt aable to figure it out but when I got sick of losing my lte on the road working after not even a week sometimes I had to bring it all the way down to 10b bootstack and reroot and everything else and it has been a couple weeks now with no problems. I am using the most current Lineage Rom with nothing but root and a bunch of apps. Every single time I rebooted it was losing lte for like 4 months. I need gps alot and this had caused me to have to pull over out of state and restore an old backup that was months and months old, then update apps and all that. It was a royal pain in my a$$. Good luck to you. Back up all your important info and media or whatever else and go back to the bricks and start from scratch. I really think all the flashing that I do broke something
I flashed the 35b bootstack many times with no luck. Sometimes it would only last 2 days and lose data and not reboot random or anything. It was very annoying

For all those who are complaining about the battery issues, yes, I must say that the battery doesn't last even a day after normal usage. I'm sure that the culprit of draining of battery is the heat generated by the processor. A lot of battery charge is wasted in the form of heat. LG didn't plan a good cooling strategy to reduce the heat. I would suggest to use the Aluminum foil method to spread the heat for proper cooling.
I will provide a link to the guide below.

I thought that when you flash su after the rom before first boot makes it that your phone won't be encrypted? Is this not the case? I too want to flash it as I'm still on nougat but don't want to encrypt device.

I know that Magisk does that.. amm.. I think chainfire's supersu do the same but not sure
I downloaded the OTA for the Nexus 6P and it's older than than the 8.1 DP2 release. The "final" build is 171019.011 but my beta build is 171019.012 and Android won't let me load the update. Anyone have any idea why the beta is newer than the "final"?

Because Google. They have done this on every major OS for the 2015 Nexus devices.

Just flashed 8.1 image.
Clean flash + latest Magisk = phone not encrypted & rooted.

So should I keep the "newer" version or should I do a factory image flash to the "older" release version?
This is the first time I have felt a real difference on a newer version of Android. Very fast and stable. Apps opening in the blink of an eye. Smoothest scrolling yet. Very impressed.?
Does anyone get to flash the full OTA via TWRP 8.2 successfully?!?

If you go back to .011 you are on the stable channel again. If you don't have any issues I would remain on .012.

I believe the idea for the older number is because you need to clean install rather than update from beta to final.

I totally agree. I'm impressed. For the first time in years this feels like a real update. Sometimes even google does something right
This is what 8.0 should've been.
Amazon Shopping app crashes constantly after updating from 8.1 DP1. Can anyone else confirm this?

Totally agree ! 8.1 has by far the most buttery smooth scolling experience of all released Android version since birth.
It definitively brings a better web surfing experience under Chrome, especially when scolling on a page that is not yet fully loaded.
Must have something related to this :
"Buttery smooth scrolling
A Reddit user named Scoularis envisions that,“Google has implemented an extra frame buffer to the Android renderer, and the end-result is perfectly smooth v-synced scrolling with nearly a dropped frame in sight”. While many users are testifying about the smooth scrolling experience on Android 8.1, we are yet to read a detailed technical explanation from Google. We will update this article once Google shares more in-depth information about the new implementations in terms of scrolling.
According to Scoularis, Android 8.1 DP suffers a little when it comes to the responsiveness of the UI. But that’s just some initial glitch that will lead you to buttery smooth scrolling experience. He says,”I’m not sure how v-sync worked on Android up to this point, but it’s definitely different in 8.1. The increased smoothness comes at the slight expense of responsiveness when scrolling, but it’s very slight and ultimately a worthwhile trade-off in my view.”"

I applied factory image and setup from scratch but I have random audio cut (hearing nothing) while calling on phone. It happened during all 3 calls I made today. If no known solution I will have to go back to 8.0. Never had this before...
Just curious if anyone who flashed 8.1 rooted with supersu had any issues on first boot. I cant get past google splash screen waiting for half hr now. I used this SuperSU-v2.82-201705271822 from this forum
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/supersu/stable-2016-09-01supersu-v2-78-release-t3452703. All i did was fastboot flash images, then flashed elementalx kernel all was fine booted no problem but after flashing su i get stuck.
I just flashed the factory image via fastboot with no wipe. just loaded all per Heimdall instructions. first boot got me to the animation for a bit them it rebooted. second boot put me straight into recovery stating my data may be corrupt. I tried again and same boot sequence. UGH.
FWIW, I had root via Magisk and I uninstalled it completely and rebooted prior to flashing the 8.1. I will flash it one more time without wipe and see what happens.
nevermind, some DUMMY forgot to flash boot.img
