EU Honor 7 locked - Honor 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just bought a second hand Honor 7 EU version, gave it a hard reset and now its asking for "Enter password Your unlock password is required after a reset"
Only allows to make emergency calls, 5 tries and then the 30 sec countdown to try again.
Dont have a password like that and the guy I bought it from has no idea, what can I do?
I'm starting to think its stolen and locked or just operator locked. Assistance needed, thanks guys!

A story from real life...

Here is a story from real life...
Okay so I have a Xperia S. That I unlocked bootloader on. And installed root on. (i only used root to copy some data from games on my arc to my xperia s) then noticed the yellow tint on the screen. Sony have official announced they will fix yellow tint free of charge. So I decide to send the phone to get repaired. I flash a clean .ftf before I send it and wipe all data. But I didn’t relock bootloader.
So few days later I get a mail that the workshop won’t repair it because of the warranty has been broken with unauthorized software. And I have to pay the service bill before I can get the phone back. So I call Sony support and tell them this. He tells me that since this is a hardware problem know by Sony it shouldn’t have anything to do with the software I used. However he is not sure. And he has to check with his boss. So I wait and wait. And call him many times. And after two weeks he tells me there is nothing to do. They won’t pay my repair bill and they won’t fix the yellow tint.
So I pay the repair bill and decide to sell the phone and buy something else. But when I got I back it had new problems. There is no audio on. I can hear ringtones and alarm but not media or music. When somebody calls me I have to turn on speakers to hear them. Also the light at the bottom bar is only lighting up the “back” button, not the other 2.
The phone was working fine before I send it to workshop it was only the yellow tint. So I can only conclude they did something to my phone to mess it up.
So I call Sony support again. And they still state they won’t fix this new problem either because of the illegal software. Even tho it’s not my fault. However he says I can try to call the workshop.
I tried to fix the phone myself with no success. I tried everything. I relocked the bootloader and repaired via pc companion. No success. I repair via SEUS. No success. I tried everything in this post http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/248108 . No success.
And the lightbar is just a mystery.
So I have to wait until tomorrow to call the workshop. But with my luck they probably just blow me off. It’s my word against theirs that they broke my phone. As I can understand they can still see the phone has been unlocked even tho I relocked it again?
I don’t realy feel like send it in again only to get another bill. And I can’t sell it now because of the audio problem.
Anyone got any comments?
As far as I know, Sony service centers use Emma software and no it cannot show whether it was unlocked in past or not!! Check that you have relocked properly and try sending again!!

Since i wasn't able to use PC companion or seus before. And i can now it should be relocked right?
If i type *#*#7378423#*# is says "Bootloader unlock allowed says: Yes"
I used this guide: http://www.thespicygadgematics.com/2012/06/unlock-re-lock-sony-xperia-s-and-u.html
But what if they say: "we just had the phone in, and it was unlocked last time"
Maybe i should try another workshop...?

Sorry to hear that dude.
You would think common sense and logic would be best in this situation, like you said, you only put software on the phone, you did not disassemble the damn thing, so Sony Support are being unreasonable, you did not take the phone apart and mess around with it, the workshop did and all paid repairs or warranty repairs come with a minimum of 3 months warranty to protect the end user, especially if it is an authorised Sony Repair Centre.
Threaten them with legal action, but do a little reasearch on google about your rights and see if they budge. Hope it works out.
Before I return my phone i did a full backup and copy everything on internal storage to pc. Then a system &data format and full wipe! Then relock bootloader and flash official firmware! Next format the whole internal storage to make sure there's no trace of any illegal software like CWM.. ! They got my screen replace without having any ideas that i have unlocked my bootloader.

does this mean that sony doesn't store the imei numbers of phones that have been unlocked??
Btw, I had a horrible time with the service center too, not as horrible as the OP's though. They gave me a used phone which had previous users msgs in it and looked worn out as a replacement to the yellowish tint issue. And returning that was a challenge too, they just weren't accepting it, even though i showed them sms's in the phone which were a month old, finally got another replacement after a week. Now too scared to unlock bootloader..
Hrm take a look that we have 15 digit long imei! And the imei we need to fill in is 14 digits long! So it's not really stated than it's our phone as the imei stored in it's server is 1 digit longer!

You sure about this, if i relock my bootloader they wont know??
The Sony centre in my country says otherwise. After calling several times, I finally spoke to a person that understood what I meant by unlock bootloader(Yes, most of them had no idea what I was talking about, I even used simple terms such as developer unlock phone officially from Sony website etc)
The person said that they will fix the yellow tint since its a hardware issue. What is NOT covered after unlock bootloader is phone internals such as CPU or motherboard damage. They said they have put me in queue to send my phone in for repairs.
It's been almost 2 months and I am still waiting for my turn to repair my phone.
I called them up 2months ago they said I couldn't send it in now as there was no stock of the screen.and the shipment would be arriving next week. A week later I called and they said still no stock, next shipment in 2 weeks. Well, it's already 2 months and I'm not sure if I will ever get a chance to even repair the tint.
Honestly, poor customer service. Phone technical support staff don't know what is bootloader and they can't get their schedule right on when is the freaking shipment coming in.

I talked to the workshop today. And they said they haven't touched the phone. They just found out it had unauthorized software. And packed it again. And charged me 250kr/33 € for the trouble.
So now I have a useless phone. That only had yellow tint. But now have all kinds of problems. The audio and light problem might be software. But it can also be hardware. I Google the audio problem. Many seems to have it after ics update. Its liveware that thinks a headset is plugged in. I can't fix it. Tried every thing.
Im not very interesting in sending it again. Only to be charged 33 € again. I read somewhere else they have my imei number in the system ever since I've used the Sony site to unlock it. Some says they can't see it. So I don't know what to believe.

The last digit of the IMEI is the checksum digit. It can be calculated using the first 14 digits. So having the first 14 digit is as good as having 15 digits.
I guess after relocking the bootloader and wipe out all traces, one could argue that he never attempted unlocking the bootloader even if the unlock server has record of the IMEI number, it could be someone entered the wrong IMEI number (as the server didn't ask for the checksum digit, so it is possible to enter the wrong numer to start with).

I see the post abouit customizing the bootloader - very helpfull. I cannot get the bootloader locked! Idownloaded the sdk tools theyre installed. When connecting my phonew in bootloader mode through the usb it does not show up on my pc. I rebooted the phone then connected, selected disk drive, then booted into bootloader. Of course during the switch my pc chimed a disconnect sound then a connect sound.so it dropped my connection through disk drive thus blockng me from accessing my phone through the bootloader on the pc. I have spent 4 hours at this this evening so I can return this piece of crap back to spint and I cant even relocked it...Whats even worse is when going to my c drive on my pc there is no android sdk file at the top....

What did i do wrong

first i am new and dont know a lot about software/android
i used this guide to try to flash the liquid jelly bean
androidauthority.com/galaxy-note-i717-android-4-1-1-liquid-jelly-bean-custom-rom-114126/
since the ROM download link wasnt working i downloaded it from here
android.gs/install-liquidsmooth-custom-rom-on-att-samsung-galaxy-note-i717-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean/
in the first link i followed the steps BUT forgot to do a clean/wipe the factory data
now after the flashing completed i hit reboot now and waited 6min than i tried to hold down the power button and nothing. took out battery and try to restart but nothing
how do i go back to either the reflashing or to my old ICS flashed version (using tmobile sim with forced 4g)?
My battery was full and every time i try to plug it to my pc it keeps telling me to format the sd/internal storage.
Pull battery and put back
Hold power and both volume buttons
At Samsung screen, release ONLY power
Keep holding volume, recovery will come up
Wipe data/factory reset.
Wipe cache partition
While you're at it, go to Mounts and storage - Format system
Reinstall ROM

what options do i have to fix this
The phone is likely bricked ...
The link you used is likely the same one another user tried yesterday.
It's not an I717 rom....it's actually a GS3 rom, and when flashed, instantly bricks the device.
You likely need a JTAG repair on the device, as it is hard bricked with no download mode.
Very sorry, it's a bad deal...but users "must" verify rom sources before flashing...
The link you used has bricked your device....g
Someone needs to report to the writer that they're referring people to an incorrect ROM. Granted its not their fault but damn. People do whatever the internet tells them to and we already have enough "bricked" threads.

so just one thing
should i try the usb download mode dongle thing first or try the JTAG service and are which ones on AMAZON are compatible with att note
Concerning this issue, there is room for improvement by devs and users both.
I have to say many of the liquid items are not organized well. After so many issues due to this you would think at some point they would be cleaned up. Also while I agree folks should confirm they have the correct rom, files, etc before flashing, it takes verry little to add safeguards to a rom making it device specific so it will not flash to an unintended device.
Just my two pennies.

Serious problems with LG K7

So I recently got a new LG K7. So being a complete idiot I did not back up my phone, then I proceeded to root it with kingroot then because it only has 8gb of storage I thought "well I really want to get GTA SA on my phone so ill just delete a couple of things in there to make it work." So I deleted a ton of Google play stuff and when I realized I would not be able to accomplish my goal I found out I messed up Google play for good. Fine I said I'll just factory reset. But when I factory reseted it would so the normal checking for connection thing except that it never ends (i left it sitting like that for a full 24 hours) so... yeah... my phone is basically screwed up. I took it to Tmobile to see if they could help but they pointed me here so now I'm just seeing if any of you can help. Thanks -Daniel
So since you messed up one of the valuable components of Google services, the Only option you have is to flash your firmware to the default firmware of your phone. Hope that helps!

Bootloder unlock

can someone tell me the bootloder unlock timeout
360 hours in most cases.
For me 360 hrs, am still waiting.......
15 days and FYI dont sign out of miui account or do factory reset during that time. If you do you have to create a new account and start the wait over again.

The normal setup is:
- Go to Settings/Mi Account and logging in.
- Go to Settings/About phone and tap 7 times on MIUI version (to enable Developer Options)
- Go to Settings/Additional settings/Developer options and enable USB Debugging and OEM unlocking, in the same section go to Mi Unlock status and Agree the Permissions required, from the link you can download directly the MiUnlock Tool and then move it to your pc, now tap on Add account and device; this will bind your account and device.
- You can go to fastboot using buttons or downloading ADB installer https://androidmtk.com/download-15-seconds-adb-installer, if you set it up ADB installer you can go to fastboot mode by typing
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
or same way you can go to it by shutting down device, then pressing and holding vol- and pwr at same time.
- Connect device to pc and open MiUnlock Tool that you previously downloaded, logging in, Tool will warn you two or three times, then tap on "Unlock now" usually users are receiving 360 hrs wait time.
- From here be careful trying to downgrade or formatting data or resetting the account trying some workaround cause the tool can reset this time and start again the countdown time.
My bootloader was unlocked without any waiting time with MiUnlock.
I thought I would wait very long and was ready for it.
How could this happen?
Thanks man

I thought I would wait very long and was ready for it.
How could this happen?

Lucky you
The average time is 15 days
For me was 30 minute before 15 days
so seems wait time is shorter now for some reason. Weird, I got a redmi note pro 64 gb and was able to adb in and flash twrp right away but I had to run the antirollback dummy.img first then it went off without a hitch. I restored the original firmware but I think the amazon seller was unlocking chinese versions and flashing the global ROM which made it work right but you still didn't have the LTE bands it should have had. So I returned it since that seller 'wireless place' seems to be doing this with all phones they sell.

Either they changed their unlock policy very recently, or most likely you experienced a lucky glitch on their server.
EDIT: Or what the quote below mentions. Does your phone have proper LTE bands?

Apparently not "all". I got my Mi 8 Lite from Wireless place. Took 15 days to unlock and it has all the bands. Working great on Cricket Wireless.

Yeah I just got a mi 8 lite 128 also, great looking phone works nicely but I went thru the process and yup 360 hours..........now if after 15 days it still doesn't work I still have 15 days to return it to amazon because that is the main reason I went with xiaomi. It was a oneplus or xiaomi and it was half the price for similar hardware specs not exact of course.

Some folks have reported theirs unlocked a few days shy of the 15 days. I kept checking mine about every other day just to make sure it was actually counting down. Even with 16 hours left, it would not allow me to unlock. Then on unlocking hour, I was busy and missed it by a few hours, but it immediately unlocked. I had TWRP on it within a few minutes, and rooted a day or two after. Yipee! Love the phone!

ah so you can hit the unlock button without it resetting or anything, I was trying to figure out a way to know how long has passed. So just doing the unlock procedure should tell me then I assume from your post.

Yes .
Edit: Don't freak out because what it will say is very much in broken English (engrish). It will say something like "Failed to unlock after NNN hours" instead of something more obvious such as "NNN hours until unlock"

I hope mine don't reset cause it updated to pie. I'm nervous but it still says 247 hrs left
