Android Update for LG K7 - LG K7 Questions & Answers

I got an Android System Update on my phone today that is 224.8 MB. Does anyone know what it is?

This is just a security patch, nothing major.

It is sad. Selling a phone without providing support is just another way for corporations to make money and the people pay.

update z3v

Hi; is there an update for z3v with build N° 23.1.D.0.239 ?
i cant find it in xperifirm !!
Latest firmware for Z3v in xperifirm is 23.0.E.1.44 / R19B
Do you have the most recent Xperifirm?
This is also the latest firmware that VZW will send if you check for software updates.
yes my device shows 23.0.E.1.44 / R19B . and in right side in the same line S/O !
and it tells me that if it is S/O; i should use the software updater for the latest update so i did but i get the message error during DM session
is this officiel firmware ?

Well I have PC companion, and I can't have it find my Z3v. It doesn't even share the same screen as that. If you have it, download and share it so we can confirm it too
Its sony bridge for mac like PC companion for pc

What blows my mind is how he got that info. It really makes it interesting that he found it through Apple hardware through Sony software. Hopefully that sort of made sense.

Exactly this. Nowhere else on the internet has the update version number as precise as that. Download it, share it on here, you're making headlines everywhere. Xperiablog, GSMArena, Android Authority, etc.
Trying to see if I can access it.
However, the dang Sony Bridge application will not recognize my Z3v being plugged in

The TC is quite mysterious. He doesn't directly respond to sharing other information about it.
What I do guess is trying to reinstall the program based in a different region. Try somewhere in Europe or northern Europe. Wherever it seems that Lollipop was first released and see if the phone would get recognized there. Or even try to mimic the settings from the picture posted somehow.
I loaded this on my Macbook.
It would not recognize my Z3V either.

I set my vpn in france & london. Neither yielded a different file. I guess the program just goes off of system language (hence the French in the OP's followup)
Well I'll be damned how Verizon could just hold onto it to put bloat in it.
I updated my recently bought tablet to Lollipop. I wanted to root it before I do it, but it was some hell of a trouble for me to get root because instructions were all over the place. I gave up on it halfway, go back to Kit Kat, then flashed the official Lollipop firmware. I have to say, it feels just as smooth if not better, and the whole Material design looks dazzling. Once it's going for the Z3v, I'm pretty sure it's definitely worth it despite all that's said from experience on the Galaxy S5.
One thing I do hope they add is a Clear All button for the Recents menu. It'd be convenient, but definitely a lot more convenient on the tablet because of the bigger touchscreen area.
A Tech guy I spoke to 2 days ago (during a service call) informed me that the Z3v voLTE update is scheduled for the end of the month!
I assume that would be included in the Lollipop update?!?

Sad to say, but I don't believe a word regarding updates (much less anything else) a Verizon rep or tech says to me anymore. I guess that makes me a bitter old man. lol

Z981 New update

Z981 for T-Mobile has a new update and it seems to fix some screen tearing issues. Update seems to add some stability too.
Any one else running this update?
Thoughts?
Just found out that you can unlock the bootloader with this update by tapping the build number 3 times.
Then developer options can be enabled.
Then OEM unlocking can be enabled.
What does this do for us guys?
It updated for me this morning, and I have yet to see much of a difference. Then again, I've been doing housework all day and haven't messed with the phone today.
Did some looking, the update was just the November security patch.
The bootloader unlock option was there before the recent update. You need to find the tmo folks on tinder and snuggle with them to get those tools to actually use that option.
Been 24hrs since I updated and have hammered device with no sight of the "Tetris stack" glitches. So on top of the security patch there must've been a kernel / graphic driver update.
good day.
The Metro variant just got an update too. Added a few features and included a few bug fixes. Haven't had time to really test drive it but it seems to be stabler, no screen bugs or data drops yet.
Edit: The Metro update also let us get into recovery now but nobody's had time to play with it much yet. So far we've got recovery, FTM mode, and safe mode, I think.

Yes the metro update actually fix my screen flicker. I tested minecraft that has screen flicker many many times while playing it. After the update, I played it again and no flickers so I am really happy about it.
AS for recovery, FTM mode, and safe mode - I had all those even before the update, actually.

Hi does anyone has the T-Mobile Update.zip?
For some reason I haven't received the update where I am right now for my T-Mobile variant. Can anyone upload the update.zip and share it? I look everywhere I could and people have only uploaded the MetroPCS versions. This is the version I need TMO_Z981V1.0.0B07 I'm already on the previous one. Thanks ?

The Metro update was uploaded there but I don't think anyone has uploaded the T-Mobile update. I think they both got pulled temporarily because while some phones with issues were working better, some other phones without issues were doing worse after updating.

Yes, that's what I thought after I read in one thread that MetroPCS pulled the update. Waiting a bit doesn't kills? Feels great to be back in XDA again. I usually use XDA for learning and reference, I only have a couple of post but been around for awhile.
My z981's mfg date was October 2016, T-Mobile variant, I picked it up December 10th, when I realised my Nexus 5 was unsalvageable. I assume the update was pulled, as I am on 0B04, one page on T-Mobile's site says the update was set for a staged release between the 21st of November through the 19th of December, another page doesn't even show this phone amongst their active or testing updates..
If I receive an update notification, I'll pull the file, but I probably won't flash it myself.

I just went into the settings and found the software update and bam there it was. It's a really stable update. And after disabling every app I could the phone runs like a dream.
Anyone try charging this phone with a Qualcomm Quick charger 3.0?

Nice. The update never showed up on my device. I may reset it just to see, but I'm not concerned. I replaced the launcher from the start, disabled a couple of apps, but the phone works well enough for me as is. I mostly read and listen to music, so nothing demanding.
Still, a nougat update with an unlocked bootloader/fastboot would be a great gift from ZTE lol.
[edit] I backed up my music and files, and reset the phone, still no update. I won't worry about it 'till people start receiving the 'next' update, or root is achieved and someone makes a custom kernel/rom.

I don't personally own one, the default charger works well enough for me so far, though the phone supposedly charges significantly faster while off. I haven't tested this myself, but if it turns out to be true, I'd assume the kernel limits charging, which wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.

If I ever receive the update I'll pull it from the device and upload it to mega or Google drive. Not holding my breath, since it was probably put on hold for causing issues on some devices.
I shall greatly appreciate it if you can do it or anyone that updates and has the time to load it.

VS9902BA Update
Android Security Patch Level: 2017-12-01
This software update provides improved HD Voice video call screens and the latest Android security patches.
You'll see an LTE icon when your video calls are using an LTE network
It would be nice to get Nougat eventually.
On a side note my phone got the bootloop of death recently and LG still fixed it for free and listed it as under warranty.

Just checked with Verizon; No update to Nougat for the V10 coming any time soon.
There is not going to be any Nougat update for this phone, it is pretty obvious. Verizon have abandoned all support on it. LG updated it about a year ago, and T-Mobile pushed the update to their phones in March of 2017. I love Android devices, and I own a V10, but face it...if you want a phone with long term support and updates, you have to buy an iPhone.

I've never owned a Apple device of any kind and not going to start.
The only smart phone I've owned that I really, really, liked was the Amazon Fire Phone, which I rooted and ran Cyanogen on. Cyanogen was lightening fast compared to the locked down Fire OS (it wasn't loaded with spyware and other crap). But two things ruined it for me. My wife dropped her Fire Phone and shattered it. We then found it was unrepairable. We were moving and I found there was little support for GSM phones service in the small town we were moving to. Only choice we had; Verizon. And here we are. The V10 was $500 each when we bought them and it was the phone with every feature you would want. Still a nice phone but it is so loaded with Verizon crap ware it is maddening. I long to be free.
Now Cyanogen is gone; out of business. The project has been forked to LineageOS. Since there is no hope to root the V10 and cast off the crapware laden Android; this this phone has been a disappointment.

I do not love or hate Apple devices. I am a light phone user and this year I was just going to buy an iPhone 8 plus or X and have it be the last phone I ever buy. The phone would only really be used for emergencies, texting, and an app or two. I too am tired of the crapware the carriers put on the Android phone. It would not be too bad if you could uninstall it. After all, it is my phone and I should be able to use it as I want. The V10 had everything I wanted in a phone when I bought it. A great screen, removable battery, 64GB storage, micro sd card slot, etc. Now it looks like this V10 will be my last phone as the new ones have been priced way above I think a phone is worth. I am not disappointed in the V10, so I guess it is not all that bad. I am just an electronics addict and I loved upgrading every few years!

I wouldn't say stuck. Pretty much everyone is on that patch level AFAIK.
Samsung doesn't do monthly security patches. Last patch was sometimes in March with the Feb Update.
I forgot about that caveat when I gave my wife the P2XL and picked up a S9+
What the heck. Even my Wife's Note 8 is on the March patch!
I even have 2 Verizon S6's that were getting monthly security patches like clockwork. These are on April already. S6's are like 3 years old I think!
I'm still on the Feb patch.... I have the unlocked U1...
It's nuts!
Mine says last update was March 31.
1st April 2018 on mine.
Didn't Samsung commit to monthly security updates?

There hasn't been 1 Samsung phone that I have had that had gotten monthly updates

I RMA'd a P2XL because of the display flashing. I got a good one and sold it & bought the S9+. I would keep the Pixel if I had it to do over again. The hardware is ok with the Samsung but I don't want the Samsung account, Bixby or any of their apps. I thought they had evolved into something I could use and even like but I was wrong. I'm going to try to live with it until the next Pixel comes out. I'm sure it will be a beast.

You don't really have to use Samsung account or bixby or any of the Samsung apps. you could simply not use them, or even disable them with a package disabler. I personally prefer to use some Samsung apps but it's completely possible to use the phone without having to use Samsung account or their apps.
Updates seem to be monthly for global variants; I am not sure some why US variants are lagging on updates. Maybe they are working on bringing android P on time for you guys when google announces it (stable/final); because usually that is when Samsung updates start getting delayed for flagships.

It amazes me that people complain about Samsung bloatware but don't about Google's. Maps, Drive, Duo, Hangouts, GMail, and so much more! I have yet to own an Android device where junk, including Google's wasn't needed to be removed! A few minutes on how to use ADB easily solves the bloat that user is unhappy with. The Bixby button is easily disabled, a Samsung account isn't needed (I don't have one), and hopefully Samsung will allow us to remap that useless button with Bixby disabled.
Updates every 3 to 4 months seems to be the common theme for most manufactures outside of Google. Updates are good but they can't make up for garbage hardware, like LG's display on the Pixel 2 XL. Flickering is the least important issue with those displays to be complaining about. Uniformity issues, which LG calls a "characteristic of the manufacturing process" and graininess are high up there. Even with Google giving LG tons of money just about every year, LG's mobile division still loses money and has for 11 years straight!
There might be little annoyances with Samsung's updates and implementation but those are easily changed. When it comes tot he hardware though, you really can't beat those Samsung OLED panels and the hardware to go with it.

Google Phone 7.0.140861421-nonnexus - Is it still safe to use?

Just wondering if this is still safe to use as it can't be updated?
Good point, but I think Wileyfox is going to provide us with something else (non-truecaller) so it's likely going to be a moot point soon.
In any case, I still use the nonnexus and I'm very satisfied.

Worked fine on mine. Moved on from wileyfox to nokia 6.1 so no need to mess about anymore.
I got the confirmation from someone who already received the update, that Truecaller is out. So far, so good. Now I'm waiting for my own update to drop
I've updated to 8.1 and Truecaller is no more.
Is Google Phone the new phone app for Wileyfox as I had an update for it after updating to 8.1?
