Samsung J7 Prime SM-G610Y/DS Service Mode: *#2683662# shows Not Supported - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I flashed my J7 Prime using Odin and it's official Stock ROM but after that, I am unable to charge my phone and detect on a PC via USB cable. When turned off, the device will charge. When boot to Download mode, Odin will be able to detect the device.
I also tried Service Menu secret codes and wonder why *#2683662# returns Not Supported.
Did something happen to my NVRAM??
On About Device section, everything seems fine. IMEI are still readable, the device status shows that it's Official and even the NTC Approval is present.
Hoping someone could help me.

Try the code *#0808# to set different modes, also under Developer Options about half way down the menu, there's another settings called USB Configuration where you can set it to Charge This Phone, MTP, PTP, RNDIS, etc.
While the phone is turned off, you can charge it but will not be able to detect it in USB, that's just the way it was designed.
If the phone is turned on, then you can charge it and detect it in the USB mode depending on the above settings.
Good Luck!

Odin won't detect i9100 in download mode after new kernel

Hi,
So I just purchased a Samsung Galaxy S II, and I've been trying a few different ROM's found on this site. The last thing I did was actually revert back to a stock Samsung Kernel and firmware. This worked fine, but it unrooted my device, which I knew would happen, but now I'm not able to root it again because when I put the device into download mode, ODIN, or better yet, my computer won't detect the device.
I have all the drivers installed, and I also deleted them all, and Kies, and started from scratch again after searching XDA for similar issues.
I don't believe this to be a driver issue, since I was able to root my device, and swap roms before I went back to the official kernel and firmware. I'm with Bell in Canada, so the versions I went back to were not the official Bell versions, since Samsung has not made them available.
I have a Mac, but I've been using Windows 7 and Odin under VMWare. I can connect my device to either OSX, or Windows 7 when the device is not in download mode, and everything works fine, and Odin detects the device (Not that that does any good of course)
When I connect the device under download mode, the Mac detects the device and asks me if I want to connect it to my Mac, or to Windows (As it should) but no matter which one I select, neither OS acknowledges the device after that point, where as when I'm not in Download mode, both OS's detect the device fine.
After all my troubleshooting with my computer based off of what I found online here, The only conclusion I have left is that there is something missing on the device that allows it to be found under download mode, but that aspect of all this is beyond my current skill level.
Anyone have any ideas?
Are you pressing the Volume Up button to continue in Download mode? Besides, Virtual machine isn't recommended I think.
Yes, Once the Custom ROM warning comes up, I press the Volume up button to continue.
That wasn't even necessary on the Stock Bell ROM. The warning didn't come up at all.
VM has been working fine up until now, so I don't think that's the problem, but I have been thinking of trying this on my old laptop that runs on windows if nothing else pans out.

Have you found anyway to Make Odin recognize to phone in download mode?? Im still struggling with that. my phone is on stock kernel and not rooted yet, ODIN finds it fine when the phone is on and USB Debugging is on, but once I put the phone on download mode it wont recognize it, I dont know why..
Could it be because of the ''SAMSUNG Mobile MTP Device'' driver failed to install correctly??
all other drivers are installed correctly.. I have tried to get the driver mentioned above to install correctly but it fails every time, with USB debugging on and off, i have wiped the phone and installed Kies and the drivers several times, Im clueless right.. anyone have any idea please help??
I myself am also suffering from this problem. However, USB seems to function fine while the phone is booted up or in recovery (For ADB). I'm wondering if necessary files may have become corrupted or deleted in reference to USB drivers (phone side mind you) that are used in download mode.
edit: It's also recognized in recovery mode.
Even if it can't be fixed I'd still like to understand why.

was looking for help on this and saw this thread, same problem too..
Connects to Odin and Kies fine when switched on "normally", can use USB mass storage mode Etc.
comes up with a USB device has malfunctioned message on PC when I connect USB cable when switched on and in download mode
EDIT:- just to add, if I try upgrading firmware via Kies it gets to the point where it switches the phone to download mode to upgrade it and has the same issue even with an official upgrade
Figuring download mode is outside the normal boot procedure, I hoped on an off chance that pulling my battery and sim for a few minutes would reset it. It did indeed. Download mode is now functional again, just to be certain I tested it right before pulling the battery to make sure it was still broken. And multiple flashes and reboots afterwards seem to confirm that it has returned to normal.
Anyone else who solves it with this method, please report back.

Galaxy Gio [BELL] does not connect to pc

Samsung Galaxy Gio [Bell] Canada. (locked)
Device: GT-S5660M
Android Version: 2.3.4
Kernel version: [email protected]#1
Baseband: S5660MUGKG3
The device simply wont connect or show up on any PC.
Tried installing KIES (lattest - Kies_2.0.3.11082_152_4). Nothing shows up
Tried putting the phone in downloading mode and then in KIES selected emergency firmware update mode and still no device.
Tried using lattest Samsung USB Drivers (1.3.450.0)
Tried putting the phone in downloading mode and connecting it to ODIN which it does not show up in the COM PORT area.
Tried dialing : *#7284# to change the SERVICE MODE to either USB, UART
Including Toggling DBG MSG
Tried different USB ports.
All doing this with USB DEBUGGING ON and tried with it OFF.
There is no USB Setting in About Phone or in Wireless and Networks settings from the settings menu.
There are many other people with this issue I found but all possible solutions that I have been able to find are listed and attempted but to no avail.
Ive read that others are having no problem connecting to their PC seeing as theres modding / custom rom forums all over. So people are able to connect which leads me to think that this is a carrier specific issue.
THIS IS ONLY MY SPECULATION . NOT 100% SURE
I thought I could start this thread on here to get some more solid advice and help.
I managed to unlock my phone. Not that this matters but I still can't connect it to a pc.
Is there a way to flash my phone with the need of a pc?
Would clockworkmod recovery work?
Would there maybe be an .apk that can be used to install the usb pop up screen or to mount the phone and allow it to be shown on the pc?
Does anyone have any ideas..?
turns out it was actually the usb cable.
I was using a micro usb that came with an LG Eve android phone.
I borrowed my friends HTC Desire micro usb cable and to my surprise it worked!
I hope this helps someone else and stumbles on this thread.

[Q] galaxy s4 slow to start charging and will not connect to computer

I have searched all the threads I can find and can't find an answer so please forgive me if this is a common problem.
To make a long story short I had to replace my LCD and then the digitizer stopped working. I did a factory reset which solved the problem but then when I tried to install my backup I messed everything up and nothing was working. I could no longer connect any computer to my phone using several different USB cables. All my google services were not working along with my proximity sensor and light sensor.
I was able to get a fenny rooted stock rom to install using Mobile Odin Pro and I seem to have most of everything working again except the USB port.
I was unable to connect to a computer or charge. After trying everything I could find online including factory resets, *#0808# settings, USB debugging mode, I broke down and ordered a new USB port which I installed into my phone and I am having the same problem with the new port installed.
When I plug my phone into the charger it does nothing however if I turn the screen off and wait about 3 to 5 minutes the LCD will light up and indicate that it is charging and then the phone takes a charge. If I use the phone while it is plugged in it will never indicate that it is charging, I have to power the screen off for several minutes. I have tried a second known good battery and I have the same issue. I have tried two separate factory chargers which both work fine on my wife's S4 and neither work properly with my phone.
When I plug it into my computer I do not get the normal message to select MTP or camera. using the settings recommended on *#0808# of USB of AP and USB Settings of MTP + ADB.
If I use *#0808# and select CP under the USB tab and then plug the phone into my computer I hear my computer instantly make the sound it usually makes when you plug a usb device in but nothing else happens. This same computer works fine with my wife's other Galaxy S4 and I have tried this on three separate computers with the same result so I don't think it is a computer or usb cable issue.
Is there a way that I somehow deleted drivers or a file on my phone that controls the USB port? I am unable to attach screenshots on this post for some reason so below is what my about phone screen shows. Is it possible I have the wrong kernel or radio installed that could be causing this issue?

I would really appreciate any help someone can give me. Thank you in advance. If anyone is local to Rhode Island and willing to help me out in person I would be willing to pay you for your time, I just want to get this to work as I use my phone for work and need to be able to transfer files to my computer.
Last night I changed the SD card and when I did I plugged it into my computer and it started to charge. After about 10 minutes the computer beeped and I was now able to access my files on both my phone and SD card but it was not showing as connected using Kies.
It worked off and on today but now when I plug it in device manager shows qualcomm CDMA technologies MSN with a yellow explanation point saying driver not installed. When I plug my wife's s4 into this computer it works fine. Is it possible my s4 is somehow showing up to my computer as a galaxy note? That is the phone that I find in Google when I search that qualcomm driver.

Recovering data from broken Samsung S4 (i9515 on O2)

Hopefully this is the right place to post this.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 (completely stock as it is my work phone), however I have some personal data on it (photos etc.).
The screen and digitiser are completely broken, however the phone still boots; I'm just unable to see what is occurring, or interact with the device.
The device broke without USB debugging enabled, so I am unable to use adb to access the device. I have tried booting into both recovery and download modes (but I have been unable to access using adb regardless of mode). The device is also not set to act as USB mass storage, so it only displays as a media device within Windows.
I have also tried using Kies to access the data, however I receive a message saying that the phone needs to be unlocked. Obviously I am unable to do this, as neither the screen nor adb commands work. Using the Samsung website to unlock the device is out of the question too, as I do not have a Samsung account.
In addition, I have tried booting into download mode and using ODIN to flash ClockworkMod to the device, but ODIN was unable to connect.
I do not have another S4, so swapping the screens temporarily isn't possible, and obviously using an OTG mouse wouldn't work, as I cannot see the screen.
I am really at a loss here, is there any way I can get the data off of this device?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Only way without replacing the screen is going to be a custom recovery and adb at this point. I'm hard pressed to understand why Kies recognizes your phone but Odin doesn't. Only thing I can think of is that once you boot to Download Mode via Power + Home + Volume Down is that starts the caution message about installing custom stuff and you need to hit Volume Up at that point to continue to actually be able to use the mode. Either that or check your Device Manager for driver issues as the driver loaded for that is a little different than like for MTP.

The only way I can tell it is in any mode other than normal boot is due to the red LED. After the first vibrate I repeatedly pressed Volume Up to ensure I'd got past the disclaimer, but obviously I'll never know for sure.
I found a tutorial for flashing CWM, however it was for an older version of ODIN (3.07). It mentions to put the CWM tar file in the "PDA" field, however this field is not present in the newer version (3.10 I think?).
As such, I was unsure how to proceed.
PDA is now the AP slot in newer versions of Odin.
Thank you, I'm going to give it another go today.
Does the device need to be rooted in order to use ODIN? I've used it once before but it was a long time ago, so I don't fully remember.
I also don't want to void the warranty on the device, as it's technically not mine.
Root is not necessary to use Odin, however, if you are able to install a custom recovery, and your phone has Knox, it will be tripped, thus voiding the warranty. There are plenty of people who have returned phones with it tripped without issue, but no way to guarantee they won't care. Most likely since it's obviously a physical issue, and not from any attempt at modding, they shouldn't care. However, they do reserve the right to refuse warranty claims if they so chose.
Just in case anyone comes across this via Google, I managed to get my files using the following method:
First, I loaded up Samsung Kies on my PC, and plugged in a standard USB male to microUSB male cable.
Then I used an OTG adapter (USB female to microUSB Male) and plugged a USB keyboard into the phone. After a few attempts, I felt the phone vibrate when I typed my PIN in and pressed return.
I then quickly unplugged the OTG cable from the phone, and plugged in the PC USB cable. This allowed Kies to connect to the phone, and I was able to pull my files.
Hopefully this helps someone if they are having the same issue.
Good work! Glad you were able to find a solution.

Note 2 won't connect/mount to any PC.

I originally posted a threat up on reddit, but I couldn't find a fix for it.
I got a Note 2 do Android development on. I for the life of me cannot get the damn phone to connect to any PC I connect it to via USB; the phone charges, just does not connect. The USB icon does not appear on the device when connected either. I tried 3 different Windows machines, with the same warning I get that the device isn't recognized, but reads it as an 'Unrecognized Device'. I have also tried OS X, does not read it as well.
Here is some of the things I've tried from reading around XDA and other forums that haven't worked for me.
Solutions i've tried with no fix:
Various USB 2.0 cables (I do not have the original cable)
USB 2.0/3.0 and other ports repeatedly.
Enabling USB Debugging
Installing Kies, and Samsung driver from their site
Resetting battery
Booting into recovery mode with device connected
Dial codes for some reason do not work on my phone. I tried entering them with the stock dialer to bring the USB settings, but they don't work. I got around it by installing an app to get the USB mode to MTP, still does not work.
Rooting right now is not option, since Odin requires to be mounted to a machine in order to root. So I'm pretty much stuck. Still can't get this phone to sync on anything.
