I have recently changed mobile operator. During the transition I briefly needed to use two SIMs while my number was ported.
After some struggles, I managed to switch the 4g over to SIM 2 but I can't remember exactly how I achieved this. Now that the number is ported I only want to use one SIM in slot 1, so that I can use an sd card. However I am struggling to activate the data connection in this slot. APN settings are identical.
In summary, data connection is only active when the SIM is in slot 2 (nano/hybrid slot) but not active in slot 1 (micro SIM). How do I fix this?

Hey everyone, I have a question about my sim card.. Ok so I got my phone about 3 1/2 weeks ago and I put my old sim card (the sim card is about 4 years old) in and it worked, however, I'm just wondering will using the old sim card affect my 4g and lte speeds and reception?
technically it shouldnt. What matters are account settings and the correct APN settings.
Most of the time what will affect speeds are bad APN and of course network congestion / location.
my friend bought me CAT B15 from US,(i live in Indonesia).when i use my cat B15 i realize that the phone cannot connect to 3G, because when i use the same SIM card to another android it can connect to 3G. and the dual SIM card cannot work too.i checked in setting menu, ther is no option for dual SIM card and for 3G.the contact support ask me to send it back to the distributor, but i think it's not make sense. it's so far away from indonesia.anybody can help me?
Same problem here. When mobile data is switched on, no matter which card is in which space, phone tells me I have inserted SIM card in wrong slot and the connection speed will be limited.

i'm facing a weird problem with dual sim network. sim 1 or sim 2 whichever is assigned with 2g/3g/4g option gets cellular network only and the remaining one shows 'emergency calls only'. assuming that this is an software issue, i've changed the rom using HiSuite; but the problem yet prevails! the phone was okay for last around a year and this issue just happened couple of days back...
is there any solution/suggestion to get rid of the problem? thanks in advance!

factory reset or reinstall rom.
While it might be ROM/firmware issue, another possibility is the cellular frequency bands. Whichever SIM is assigned as data sim (2/3/4g), the other SIM can only be (2g). It might be that the telco has discontinued 2g frequency band.
I have similar issue on Honor 8 which I think has the same limitation (only 1 data SIM). If I assign SIM A as data SIM, SIM B would lost signal; but SIM A has signal if SIM B is set as data SIM. This is regardless of the SIM card slot. In my case, probably SIM A (its telco) supports 2g band, but not SIM B.
I have an unlocked Lenovo Golden Warrior Note 8/A936 2 gb ram dual sim phone. Its also rooted. In my country there are 2 network providers. I have a SIM for both. The phone recognizes both of the sim cards and even labels them by their network name but only picks up the service for one of the network providers. Ive made sure both sims are good. They both work fine in my Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Trying to figure out what could be wrong with the Lenovo as it won't pick up any service for that SIM card.
Ive tried:
both sim slots and still only one recognized.
removing the working one and the other still wont find service
Factory resetting
Manually/Automatically finding the network. Manual search doesnt find the ine i want to find
Switching from 2g,3g,4g preferred types
Any idea what could be wrong?

Maybe your provider uses a for the handy not usable channel and the sim is a lte/4g only! So the device doesn'T recognize the sim, Iguess. I'm sorry, bad luck
i installed havoc rom
after turn off lte and change network type to gsm only my network is crashed and sim 1 is dead
when disable sim 1 then sim 2 is ok and when enabled sim 1 then not working 2 sim cards and antenna left
i flash stock rom with fastboot and dont resolved this issue
after enable 2 simcards for 1 second see 2 simcards signal is full and then the antenna disappears.
how cn i fix or reset sim 1 socket data ?
how can i fix this issue?
