LG G5 RS988 "Your Device is Corrupt. It cannot be trusted and will not boot" HELP PLZ
Hello everyone,
I ran into this problem while trying to solve another.
The current state of my phone (RS988):
On booting, I receive this message: "Your device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted and will not boot."
Fastboot and Download Mode is still accessible.
I can still access the "Factory data reset" dialog, but after selecting "Yes" twice it takes me to the above message.
[edit]:
fastboot getvar unlocked
unlocked: no
I tried unlocking the phone again using fastboot flash unlock:
fastboot flash unlock unlock.bin
target reported max download size of 536870912 bytes
sending 'unlock' (1 KB)...
OKAY [ 0.053s]
writing 'unlock'...
(bootloader) Error!!
(bootloader) Bootloader Unlock key write fail

how can i recover from this ? btw im on LG G5 RS988 21d update and i had alot of trouble finding a kdz file for LGUP

I have the same problem. I used Uppercut & LGUP v.1.14.3 to flash "RS98811c_00_ARB01_1.kdz" using Refurbish option stops al 10% (Primary GPT) error 0x2BC invalid command response: 0x80000121. Using Upgrade option stops at 11% (laf)with error 0x2BC invalid command response 0x80000202.
I had lost the phone, when recovered only booted on twrp. I tried to fix it using:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/misc
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/624000.ufshc/by-name/fota
After booting appeared the message "Your device is corrupt. It cannot be trusted and will not boot."

the same thing exactly happened to me, somehow the bootloader got LOCKED again. i cant unlock it because of OEM Unlocking not enabled after wipe in TWRP. thinking about getting a new Logicboard\Motherboard. and i couldn't find RS98821d kdz\tot anywhere.

You'll need to send them in for repair with someone who has the non-free proprietary Qualcomm firehose files, xml partition map, and non-free stock partition files .mbn/.bin (similar to kdz/tot, but aren't). Or through the JTAG box method that I use. There's no other way to revive this particular phone model RS988 besides this method. I can do the JTAG box method repair if interested. You also wiped your fota and misc (can cause BT, wifi, and DRM media problems) partition which you shouldn't have, which again can't be fixed without JTAG. I can't share my particular methods, but if you Google them or search on YouTube, you'll get an idea.

Already fixed it. without JTAG

@BahaEzawi
That's cool, would you mind sharing how you did it?
I'm in the very same position.

Great!. Have you a reference webpage to check?

As far as I can tell the issue is that there is no .DLL to load for this variant. Which I wish I knew about earlier...

I flashed the RS98810h.kdz file (which you can find on InfoPrime AIO Thread) using LGUP which basically the only kdz that i could flash. and for the DLL you could Use Uppercut (Also in InfoPrime AIO thread) then unlocked the bootloader again and installed TWRP then flashed the RS98821d zip. Thats it.
Or if u dont want to install TWRP you could just flash the RS98810h.kdz using LGUP and uppercut then unlock the bootloader and you're good to go.

Very cool, I thought that might work based on what I've read. Just didn't want to go further down the rabbit hole. Hope this works, if so expect some thanks, if not, well, at least I tried. Thanks for the quick reply!

Yea I wish I could. LGUP doesn't let you downgrade it seems?
Since I was on the D version it wouldn't let me.
Uppercut does work in general though for the variant from what I can tell so far.

Thanks to you I could unbrick my RS988. 98810h.kdz installed smoothly. Flashing 98821d always ended in error, even it is recommended when checked IMEI on LG official page.

[Help!!] How to Unbrick Metro PCs LG K7 LGMS330!!

Alright so I recently got the lg k7 from metro pcs and decided to root it. I rooted it using kingroot and then used supersu me so that I could install supersu instead of the one used for kingroot. It worked and then asked me to reboot my phone but when it started up again, it just stayed frozen on the metro pcs logo! I removed the battery and went into recovery mode, (by clicking the down volume+power button) but when it starts up again, it still stays stuck on the metro logo. Im assuming it is stuck on a bootloop? I also believe it is soft brick because i can still access the download mode, although it did take a while as i had to find the dang drivers b/c my computer would not recognize it.
I tried using the LG Mobile Support Tool to try to unbrick it, but it says that it already has the latest firmware installed! I cant do an update recovery either!
Sadly the 7 day exchange and return has ended and I cannot replace it, so is there any other way that anyone knows to unbrick the phone?
Thanks
Did you ever figure this out? I had my k7 goto a secure boot error 9 and cant figure it out.

The only way to fix our LG devices...including @Goongydin device
1. downloada kdz firmware file for our respective model & carrier
2. download lg flashtool & another tool on a windows PC
3. put the device in download mode
4. reflash the firmware(Stock)
check out my tutorial here if the firmware file for the LG K7 is ever released...http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/how-to-universally-manually-update-lg-t3280735
HOWEVER the LG K7 firmware file has NOT been released yet & LG wont release if ask...I asked once & they told me they do NOT make it & then I ask another time(different lg representative) She said that file is proprietary & so it can NOT be released to anyone outside of LG...
so I have multiple responses that conflicts with one another especially when the first conversation was with an LG developer...who ACTUALLY makes those files apparently, but inclined that he does NOT.

Wow that is amazing! For the sake of educating, would you mind sharing how you made a tot file (or a link describing the process). I have been trying to make a kdz or tot for like the past week and have just been going in circles.
I have the T-Mobile variant of the K7 (LGK330BK. Is this tot carrier specific? All I need is to get back into TWRP to restore my back up or restore my system.img.

dont know yet but the plus series is ure best bet from history speaking
as of rite now theyre no methods on any of the 3s
of coarse u can try king/kingo root prob be best bet
The Plus models from MetroPCS and TMobile have unlockable bootloader's, so all that's needed is TWRP to flash root
Sent from my LGMP450 using Tapatalk
Nice to know there will be an option in a month or two. I hear development on Stylos don't take too long considering their popularity.
I would love to know what's needed to attempt root on a device...I mean from scratch...like what is needed to access the /data file...and how to break thru the lock LG has to stop someone from mounting and rewriting certain files

Do the devices have fast boot. If so a oem unlock. Some one said metro and t mobiles where unlocked or unlockable
I'm no programming/root expert but in developer options you enable oem unlock.. then connected o the pc you type fastboot oem unlock from a command prompt.. the phone then says its unlocked .. that's as far as I went. Aso after that, when you boot the phone, it literally complains that it is missing security before it boots.

LG might have removed the ability to boot an image without flashing it like they did with the Stylo 2 plus, and I don't think there is a kdz available yet as I been looking for one every couple of days but haven't found one.

I want to purchase one of these from metro to use on my h20 account. If I flash a new rom will it get rid of that stupid unlock policy that makes you use the app after 90 days to unlock?
Anyone know if or when any updates even security patches will roll out for this device?

My bet is the situation is similar with G Stylo 2+.
Even with the latest 7.0 ROM, I still could flash TWRP and install SuperSU (not Magisk unfortunately).

Hey, the LG Tribute Dynasty is a mcv150 device. You might be able to install the TWRP for my device on your's. If it flashes then I can fix the the bugs. Search LG Aristo 2 TWRP. The device is a cv1 but the Phones look exactly the same. Give it a shot.

Looking at the list of firmwares found the LG Fanclub Download page for the Aristo 2, which one would you recommend I take the fastboot and aboot partitions from? I would post the link but I am still listed as a junior member. There are 26 different firmwares listed, although several of those are 8.1, so I know not to use those. My phone is SP200 LMX201ULMA.

I just checked my current firmware kdz file (X210ULMA11a_00-NAO_US_OP_0921.kdz) and there are no partitions labeled aboot or fastboot. There is a boot partition and a recovery partition. Are the aboot and fastboot partitions contained WITHIN another partition?

Two more things I can add:
1) I have a SP200.kdz file which I could share. It is a GSM version from a South American country.
2) I also have a complete dump of my phone using LGUP, if that would help.

There's a DOZEN trouble shooting tips list in the WTF Instructions. On that page, scroll down to Section 7.
Tell us which ones you have done? I know you haven't done all of them. When you read them you will understand how I know.

One of the tips is to install another version of ADB.
One of the tips is to try another USB cable.
One of the tips is to try another USB port..
One of the tips is to try another computer.
That last one seems to work for most people as a last resort.
Since you won't read them in the Instructions, here are all the tips:
7: TROUBLE SHOOTING
MOST people have no problems. If you do, look through this list.
1) You can't flash the new-unlock.bin code.
Look at your current "About Phone". You want to confirm you're on Oreo with pre-July 2018 security patch firmware.
For any North American variant you Frankensteined, make sure you are on US998 Oreo pre-July 2018 firmware.
2) If you can't flash the new_unlock.bin code or you can't flash TWRP.
* Look in your ADB folder on your PC and confirm all known Windows file extensions enabled.
* Confirm all Windows hidden files and folders are visible.
If that doesn't help, try this:
3) Confirm USB debugging is on in Developer Options, and your PC has authorization for your phone.
4) Install another version of ADB. Install as close to the root of your hard drive as possible. X:\ADB where X is your hard drive.
5) Re-install LG mobile drivers.
6) Try another USB cable.
7) Installing this Windows driver found attached to this post. (Thanks @gazzacbr and @FZZF.)
8) Install Google USB driver. (Thanks @s0lidsneak.)
9) Try another USB port on your computer.
10) Reboot the computer.
11) Try another computer. (THIS seems to always solve the problem. Kudos if you find an an old Win7 PC.)
12) Master Reset (full reset of phone using hardware buttons). Phone will be reset anyway after bootloader unlock. Doing it prior may fix something preventing the command from working.
Nope this doesn't work

You are not doing it right. You aren't even following the troubleshooting tips.
I know you haven't tried other computers.
You said you don't even know where your ADB folder is?
So you aren't doing it right. It DOES work, but your have to follow instructions.
What variant do you have, what firmware are you even on?

OK, you finally finished Section 5, unlocking bootloader. See, it does work.
Now you're on Section 6, installing TWRP and rooting. Make sure you're reading it on a web browser, not something like XDA app. The app truncates entire paragraphs of explanation.
Read the section thoroughly, follow the directions, read the troubleshooting tips again. Everyone else can do it, so there is something you are missing or doing differently than you should. Or something you're not doing, that you should.
What kind of error message are you getting?

The max download size error is USB cable/USB port/ADB not communicating well.
Someone with a VERY similar screen name to yours had the exact same issue when trying to unlock bootloader.

Hello I know this post is really old but i was trying to complete this today because i just got my old v30 out of storage. It started off as a h931 carrier locked from atnt. Tried rooting it downgrading google plus to do some spoofing on pokemon go. Well that didnt go to well since the phone has a locked bootloader and wont allow majisk.
So i saw this and said "Finally someone came out with something for an LG phone". Well anyways, I followed the post all the way down to looking at your screenshots to try and get the exact version (10d to 20a). And still my fastboot commands are locked. It gets stuck right after the i attempt to flash the new_unlock.bin, just says "Target didn't report max-download-size. Sending 'unlock' (1kb)......." I see tons of other people posting how they got theirs to work. But mine won't for some reason. Yes I am on US98820a and its not bootlooping at all, just no fastboot commands.
Thank you for your time and I love how at least someone gave LG some attention. Even if it was with a Huawei unlock code

Well, you can also get the same error when trying to install TWRP. It's the SAME communication, where you are trying to install flash something via fastboot flash commands.
Something about your cable/port/ADB installation is not agreeing with your phone. Or missing drivers. You got the bootloader unlocked, now you just need to get TWRP installed -- then you will never need ADB/fastboot again.
This guy had problems with flashing TWRP:

You don't need fastboot mode for Master Reset.
Most V30 don't even have fastboot capability.

I'm confused where you're at.
But you either need another cable, another ADB version or another USB port.
This guy, today, used an older ADB:

"adb" command returns "Android Debug Bridge version 1.0.32", "Revision eac51f2bb6a8-android".
The Android SDK Tools entry in WinXP "Add or Remove Programs" is 1.16 (Google). Not sure that matters.
Might be a good idea to test it with Windows later than XP before recommending it. (I have not.)

try unlocking bootloader and flash rom cook or kdz rom in other regions.

I was in a very desperate situation just like you. The only difference is that my phone is bricked with a logo. LGup does not recognize the device via COM port. fortunately I have unlocked the bootloader and used the command "fastboot oem edl" to bring the device to the EDL qualcom 9008. I use qfil flash some partitions such as boot, recovery, .... and luckily LGup got the device via COM port and I can KDZ return to the default original rom. Someone quoted me for more than 10 bucks but I didn't have that much money and I successfully unbrick.
