Is there any way to get the OTA update if I'm rooted?

No. If you are rooted you can use only custom rom based on oreo and for note 8 n950f are only port s9 by lam1990.
Here i share file and tutorial.info for who want normal.ota and dumped system for developer to use for future custom rom

If You have N950F(Exynos) then You just have to flash stock firmware with Odin and You will be able to get OTAs.

any info about oem issues?

Yes.
But IMO not worth going through all that, it's all hype by people always wanting the latest possible. Oreo is not that much different. I'm rooted also & I'll be waiting for my favorite custom rom to be released in Oreo rather than going back to stock & take the OTA.

Yes, you won't get it if it "is". The question was, "was". As ProtoDeVNan0 stated, if you flash back to stock, OTA will work, regardless if you were rooted before & if knox is tripped.

No problem. To get OTA, Device Status in Settings needs to be Official as well as in download mode Current Binary & System Status. Flashing back to stock fw will take care of that.

Why didn't att just play nice and update to V3? Instead they update To V4 so I can't flip flop between t-mobile firmware and there's. Does root still work? On the other hand, I can flash Verizon firmware I guess.

I can't root, looks like it's back to the drawing board. It figures this happen as soon as I feel it necessary to root my device......
I advise everyone to not take any OTAs after the first August patch so you can still be able to root and flash roms. It isn't a problem for me since I wasn't planning on rooting this phone again anyways..

@raremind couldn't root on BL4. It's unfortunate how we can't root on API2, but if the developers are willing to find out a new way to gain root access on API2, then it wouldn't be the end of the world for anyone who wants the latest OTA but still want root.

Nope. This problem will be if you try to downgrade from 7.x.x. Upgrade should be painless. Also you can choose any channel. It will be work, but without ota`s updates.
I`ve installed retus on retcn. All working, except otas. Maybe in oreo smthng changes.
Also remember, you doing at your own risk. If you don`t fully understand what you doing - don`t do it. (Google it before )

stuck at file analysis. Or do tar images just take a lot longer?
so this may be a silly question, but my att s7 is currently at Baseband Version: G930AUCS4APK1 and on Android Version: 6.0.1. When clicking software update, it always tell me there is no update available so I've been stuck with this.
is this something I can download and install via Odin?

Quick update, I tried to install it and it failed with all the Odin versions I had, but then I used the "Odin3 v3.13.1_3B_PatcheD" version, and its working like a charm now finally I'm out of that 6.0.1 and at the latest!

i don't think at&t updates phones if your sim card is from another carrier . you will have to flash probably nougat first then oreo. at&t files are scarce but if you search here at "AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7" forums to see what you can find. you might have to go through a whole series of flashes before you can get oreo though. Alternatively, you can flash G930U firmware from sammobile just to get to about BRA1 or so then start flashing the most resent at&t files posted here or you can just. You could also just stay on g930u. If you are with at&t you should call customer service or go to your nearest retail location. if you've never used odin you should look up on youtube how to flash

Hi
My actual baseband version is : G930AUCU4BQF3. I can't update via OTA update because I live outside US (no AT&T sim) so I'm stuck to that baseband version. My question is do I need to update to the latest update of Nougat or can I update directly to Oreo with these files. Thanks

Oreo 8.1 is out for the J730F

Hi everyone,
The official Oreo 8.1.0 update for the Samsung Galaxy J7 Pro (2017) SM-J730F.
The update is out in Spain, users can get it there through OTA.
However if you are from any other country you can still download it directly from Sammobile website and flash it using Odin.

Using odin will make you lose all your personal data, make sure to back up everything before doing so.
but if you don't want to struggle with saving everything you can wait for the OTA .
