Guide : How to share new updates to Firmware Finder. - Honor View 10 Guides, News, & Discussion

Sometimes you may not find firmware of your device in firmware finder application.
Someone with the same device can upload a firmware in FF by simply sharing OTA link. This is very easy and useful to everyone out there using same model mobile.
Below are the instructions, I have tried them and working fine.
1. Whenever you get official OTA update prompt, do not start downloading it. Instead open Firmware Finder app.
2. In firmware finder, left side menu click on "Share Firmware".
3. Enae VPN as asked in prompt.
4. Go to updates again, and just search for updates 2-3 times.
5. That's it. It will automatically send OTA link to Firmware Finder app and they will update there in next 1 hour time.
6. You can just disconnect VPN, and download update as it is.

NOTE 2: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU FAIL OR BRICK YOUR DEVICE, IT'S ALL UP TO YOU. IF YOU DECIDE TO CONTINUE THEN IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT IF YOU FAIL.
NOTE 3: THIS WORK ONLY WITH UPDATES FROM THE SAME BASE SO CHECK YOUR DEVICE.
Short note: Tested on my VTR-L29.
Short intro if you would like to read from my experience:
- Okay so there are many people complaining about B162 that is not updating apps via playstore so that kinda made me want to update my phone to the last B164 version. After a few minutes searching through the forums I found a tool to update my phone and I decided to try. I made all the steps and the phone rebooted and surprise: update has failed and also I got the beautiful 'your device has failed verification error'. Sounds scary,eh? Not at all because it did not affect my phone in any way but it pissed me off so I decided to browse even deeper and I found this tutorial which worked. I got it running with B164 and also got rid of that error. Life's fun, isn't it? lol
Tools you will need:
- Patience and coffee
- Your phone must be atleast 80% battery because it will take a while to finish the whole process
- Firmware Finder app ( you can download it from the playstore / apk from the web ..you choose )
Steps:
- Install the magic Firmware Finder app from playstore or your source
- Open it and you will notice three (3) bars on the left side of the app -> choose Settings
- Now you should see an option ' Use proxy for install ' -> activate the option and install the addon when it ask you to do it
- Return to the inital screen of the app and search for the latest firmware available ( for me it was B164 ). Make sure you use the full firmware. DO NOT USE OTA !
- Press on your firmware and choose ' get an update through proxy '
- Go to phone settings-> wifi -> long press your wifi network -> modify -> show advanced options -> proxy settings -> manual -> set the name as localhost and port as 8080 and then save.
- Go to settings -> updater -> check for new update. A new update should appear and it also should be the firmware you have chosed earlier in Firmware Finder app. Pay attention to the details so you won't screw things up. If the update matches with your firmware finder update package then proceed and press download.
- Once the download has started leave it till it gets ~5% and check for any errors . If everything works and is error free then you can pause the download.
- Remember I told you to pause the download? Well yea, you have to do it. Now go back to wifi settings @ your network, remove the proxy and save.
- Resume the update download
- When the download is finished the phone will verify the package and install it.
- Congrats mate, you did it !
I hope this will help people out with updates or failures.
I also got you a few screenshots that might clear things out.
Have fun using your P10 :highfive: .
09.01.2018 UPDATE FOR USERS THAT CAN JOIN THE OREO BETA BY COUNTRY USING FIRMWARE FINDER
Note 1: Your device might not boot. -> May lead to a factory reset using stock recovery. * it was not my case but it can happen*
Note 2: This might not work if your device was rebranded. Keep in mind that they use the IMEI to sign up for beta testing so your rebranded device might not be able to sign up for it.
Note 3: Do it at your own risk. Do not blame me if something goes wrong. This worked for me and a couple of people but it's not 100% sure that will work for anyone.
Note 4: Always backup your data!
We all know that they need B180 to get the beta access but even though I saw pictures of users that joined the program using B171. If you are using a higher version, as I did before (B179) there is no project available in beta app. Most of users are using B179 and B180 is not aproved because we are unlucky lol.
I managed to get a quick fix for that in order to join the beta that migh work for you aswell.
Follow these:
* you follow, you risk mate, not my fault if you mess up something*
1. Use Firmware Finder.
2. Set proxy to B164 (FullOTA-MF 2017.08.14) - do not forget to check for it..always check to be aproved mate!
3. Download and wait for it to install.
4. Boot the phone, clear all recent apps and get B171 via OTA ( NOT FIRMWARE FINDER, JUST CHECK FOR UPDATES ).
5. Download and wait for it to install x2 (B171 this time).
6. *If you already have the beta app installed, if not jump to next* Go to settings -> Beta app -> Clear all the data.
7. Sign in to huawei id (if not already).
8. Go to beta app and accept the conditions -> go to projects -> the beta project should be there, just sign up for it and wait for your request to be accepted!
9. Wait for further updates, since you are signed they might come.
10. *optional* Boot into stock recovery ( vol + and pwr ) and clear cache after the updates, that might help the phone to clear up some junk files used in the whole process.
I hope that this will help most of you that got into B179 before the beta testing.
Cheers :highfive:
Worsk perfectly on VTR-L09
I am happy to hear that !
Works great to bring VTR-L09C2B151 with Vodafone branding to 155. Thanks
will it work on rooted device? thanks
Might work if your recovery is stock. Not sure though, but your root will be gone after the update.
You can try but I can not confirm it will work.
Firmware Finder
I think you forgot to mention the "Check Firmware Access" if the firmware update is approve to install already, otherwise installation will fail after reboot. Also, I do download OTA only and not the full firmware package since I'm already in the latest version. Download full firmware package only if you're in much lower firmware version

I'm already on B166, and I just wanna download and install full package of B166 again because before I've just done a quick and not full update, will this work or will I brick my phone? Thanks.
And will it also work if I wanna downgrade my firmware? instead of update?

Thank you for the guide. Followed all steps. Once downloaded it says it has failed to authorise and it will delete the package. Can't seem to get around this. Any ideas?

Thanks for swift reply.
Yes, I go to the Firmware Finder app and find the full update version I want, switch on the proxy inside app, change settings for WiFi (localhost 8080), go to settings, it tells me there's an update.
Checked the size of file - it's 2.8GB instead of 2.2GB. The button I press says "Quick Update" (blue button). It downloads the update. I get further than 5%, pause download, remove the WiFi proxy settings (localhost 8080), get 100% but...
...says it is unauthorised and will be deleted.
(EDIT: Screenshot added below)
For some reason I still think that there is something wrong with your package. I had no such issue with mine. I'm not sure what to do about exactly but you can try to ask for help in the original thread I provided in the main post.
Hi guys. So I have the the VNS-L31C432B391 and I want to upgrate the P9 Lite to B397. Can I do it without any problem?
I got the same error as @wickdaman with my P10 L09. Downloads the entire thing then fails to authenticate and deletes the update.
Before downloading the new firmware click on 'IMEI check'. This will tell you if the firmware is installable on your device.
None of the B171 above versions (witch is my current on VTR-L09B432) is suitable for the installation, checked with/without IMEI and by trying to install B179 for example that lead to the same outcome, install failed, downloaded firmware deleted. I think this issue has something to do with EMUI 5.1 ID safeguard that I tried to downgrade without success but anyway, any of versions with number below mine (B171) can be used and I have installed them successfully, B162 i think and after restart system checks for newer versions on its own and finds B171 and naturally I am back to beginning.
Sorry for my English, it's not my native language, I did the best I could. Hope this helps people.
Hello, newb here.
Will this get the updates directly from Huawei while skipping the provider? My provider (Fido aka Rogers) is horrible for bringing out updates and are full of bloat wear.

Checked VKY-L09 C432B177 update today. Allows me to download it now, although the model number has now changed to include a B at the beginning - BC432B177.
No idea if this is meant to be the same model number or if it's a locked network version or not. I'll find out soon and write an update.

I did find the answer to my problem is that FF doesn't support EMUI5+
If you are on EMUI4 or less it works, but something in EMUI5 breaks the ability to update in this manner.

and so I deleted the file "boot.img"
I also couldn't open the Update.zip file with Winrar or another archive program.
then, I tried to do this :
"10. In FlashFire, select the small plus icon at the bottom right and select “Flash ZIP or OTA”. Select the “update.zip” file and confirm the pop-up with the tick at the top right"
but I couldn't find the “update.zip” file there.
finally, I tried to open the update.zip by pressing "Update".
since then my phone won't start.
The only thing i can do is pressing the "plus" button and another button below which will lead to me to a screen of Updating the system. when I try to do it's wrong because "firmware not found".

Hi,
For 3 month, I hope you have find the solution. If you don't, here is mine :
I had the same problème on my phone.
I couldn't reinstall it, I think the version that I downloaded wasn't compatible with the "Chinese" version of my mobile.
You need to find the good firmware !
Could you try with this chinese firmware : MEIZU PRO7 Standard Version -Flyme6.1.3.2A-7.0
It's worked on my phone.
So,
Press and hold the volume up and power button until the screen goes on recovery mode.
Connect the device to the laptop or PC, you can open the device. You will see an empty partition named recovery.
Now copy the downloaded firmware of your phone and place it in the recovery partition. Just copy update.zip to recovery partition.
Now in the phone select update firmware and clear data and press next.
The phone will reboot and install the firmware.
Wait, wait, wait 15mn be patient.
tell me if it's working on your phone.
excuse me for my poor English !

Was everything, such as google playstore and english language, still working on you phone after you updated the firmware?
I was also wondering if theres need to backup the IMEI somewhere?
Im currently running a modified verision of 6.1.3.2A which doesnt have all the features for the 2nd display and hence looking for an upgrade.

I used this chinese version less than 10mn. I would advise you to install the G firmware !
I didn't install the playstore (too thing in chinese in this firmware) that's why after running the version 6.1.3.2A, i used this tutorial :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75297402&postcount=70
"Download the firmware Flyme 6.1.3.2G from here
http://www.flymeos.com/firmwarelist?modelId=88&type=1
after you can do the instructions in video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aDp6oZL4Wx4 "
Be careful when you install superSU to do the same thing as in the video. I don't do the same than on the vidéo that's why i need to reinstall the chinese firmware. After the installation i wait 15mn and my phone stays on Flyme. i restart it and it worked for installing busybox and flashfire.
I wish you bon courage !

Ah ok, so you only used it to be able to flash the global rom on?
Ive read multiple places that its not possible to update from A to G, thats why i was thinking about going to the 7.0.0.0A ROM instead. The shop i bought it from (CECT, who are not very well informed at all) told me it would brick the phone to go to G from A, my phone is apparently not intended for global sale thats why they make their own version and flashes it on...
So now im just looking for someone who can confirm that updating to the A-rom wont remove google play or english.
EDIT: I have the Helio P25 model

Mate 10 Pro BLA-L29 C605 stuck on 8.0.0.137

This is a dual SIM model of the Mate 10 Pro. I would like to become more up to date, the last update I received was a security update from July last year. I do love this phone and would like to squeeze more life out of it. The software updater says I'm up to date even though there's quite a few later OTA's and Full firmware releases since the release I am running.
I have attempted using the latest Firmware Finder with the DNS change trick. Everything is green lights within Firmware Finder app, change DNS, attempt to download using the OTA checker in settings and no update is ever found.
I have also tried manually downloading both the full and OTA files and extracting the .app package file into the dload folder of a USB C thumb drive of both fat32 and exfat. The updater (holding volume up/down buttons) gets to 5% reading the thumb drives and fails.
I've played with some of the hisuite tricks and still having no luck. .
Anyone have any most-recent mothods that should work for upgrading my firmware?
Thanks a lot.
-Steve
Got it...
Turns out that I was not flashing a "service" rom which is not easily available from huawei's servers but instead found elsewhere like android filehost. Dload method only allows "service" firmware roms with the "dload" folder in the archive.
Running 9.1.0.300 C605E2R1P12 now.
Thanks guys.

Updating firmware after flashing board software

Hello everyone. A couple of days ago, I bricked my huawei mate 10 pro BLA-AL00 by flashing the wrong firmware. After a few days of experimentation, I was able to revive the phone by flashing the board software back onto the phone. Now the problem is that I am on a super early build of emui and it seems like its the stock factory software with a bunch of debugging programs on it. I am having some trouble updating the firmware to android 8. I downloaded this exact firmware file: https://androidhost.ru/bzx
I am having some trouble figuring out what files I need to flash. There is a main dload folder after extracting the files, but if I try to copy that onto a usb drive and flash it using the dload method, my phone will once again brick itself. I have tried flashing the all_cn firmware file using TWRP recovery, but that also bricks my device and puts it into a bootloop. I have also tried using the huawei update file extractor software and tried manually flashing the firmware using fastboot commands, but once again will just end up in a bootloop. Am i doing something wrong? I would really appreciate any help. Thanks
Hi,
I'm in the exactly same case. Did you manage to fix it?

I finally managed to figure everything out after days of research and testing. You must download the BLA-AL00 8.1.0.351 full ota firmware from pro-teammt.ru and extract the update.zip folder. Next, I used MRT Dongle 3.19 cracked to flash the firmware. https://www.gadgetsdr.com/mrt-dongle-latest-crack/ To activate the program, you must use the keygen provided to generate a activation code after pasting in your device id. The device id can be found by opening the mrt program for the first time. Paste in the activation code found by the keygen into the activator and the program should open. Next, click on hw flasher and put your phone into fastboot mode. Make sure your bootloader is unlocked. I assume it is unlocked as you only flashed the board firmware. Under write flash click on the 3 dots near the bottom of the page, select the update.app file you extracted before, and click on start. Don't worry if it says fail for the first few commands. It should successfully flash everything else. Once this process is finished, your phone should reboot. We need to do one final step and write the oeminfo back into the phone. Put your phone back into fastboot mode by plugging in your phone and holding down the power and volume down buttons. In MRT, click on update hw soft_ver, select huawei mate 10 pro, and click on start. After flashing, your phone should reboot normally now into an operating system!!!
Thank you for your answer ! My Mate 10 Pro is BLA-L09, how did you know you have to use this specific firmware (BLA-AL00 8.1.0.351 full ota firmware) for your BLA-AL00? I guess I should use BLA-L09 full ota but which version?

It took me a very long time and a large amount of downloading to figure out the exact firmware I needed to use. I just downloaded a bunch of version and see if it would flash onto my phone. Finally, the 8.1.0.351 firmware worked! For the bla-l09, im not too sure the exact version needed. I would experiment around and try a bunch of different full ota firmware from pro-teammt.ru Maybe you could flash the bla-al00 firmware and rebrand the phone? Im not too familiar with rebranding, but I know its possible.
I have tried with BLA-L09 8.0.0.115 firmware then my phone has reboot in a better factory version (EMUI 8 instead of EMUI 5), but still in factory mode, with the developpers apps. I've done the hw soft_ver update, but it still boot on this factory version. I've tried to flash another firmware (still BLA-L09 but another version), and now my phone stays shut down. I cannot even see it on my COM port. I've tried to use test point, I can hear the USB plug computer song but nothing happen. Phone no detected, black screen, no vibration. I've tested all the possible key combinaison (volume up, volume down, power button), still nothing .
Any idea of a last chance?
I was so close thank to your help!

Search URL for AT&T V60 updates. Based on experience with Samsung AT&T.

Hi!
I am one of many who are trying to solve the problem with updates for the American version of LG V60 from AT&T operator outside the USA.
My experience comes from smartphones from samsung s6 active, then we manually with the help of luck found a link for updates that could be installed manually from recovery.
Now I have a V60 and I thought: and why shouldn't this method work with LG?
We need the help of one v60 owner who has android 10 of any version. The task is simple - to find out the URL through logcat.
For the result, just follow this instruction:
1. When you get the OTA update notification, do not download the update. Also, and do not reboot your phone.
2. Setup ADB and Fastboot environment on your PC and enable USB debugging on your Android device. (settings>development>enable USB debugging)
3. Now plug in your device to the PC using a USB cable. (not a front port)
4. Now open the command prompt or terminal by holding the shift key on your PC and press the right mouse button. Alternatively, go to start>accessories>cmd or type cmd in the search under the start menu.
5. Now issue the following command in the cmd window: adb logcat
6. Once done, it should display a whole bunch of text below the command. It may take some time to get the full logcat as it will be a long text. If it takes long, you can disconnect the device from PC. The
7. Once you get the full logcat, copy and paste everything from the terminal into a notebook text document.
8. You will certainly find the OTA URL for your device. Check out the image below to see how the URL looks like.
9. Now that you have the OTA URL, you can start with downloading the OTA.
10. Now you can reboot your phone and install the update.
Perhaps all this is a waste of time and in the near future someone will unlock the bootloader. I believe in the best, but I live for today.
I don't think anyone is really to help. It's sad how development community is dying. My stick on Android 10. I guess there is not hope for ATT users so I'm gonna sell my att and get a different model of v60 aside the att
AT&T ota updates are shipped through Google, not LG themselves, so you won't receive any updates that aren't for your device. If you're hoping to sideload an OTA, it may actually work, but I'm not sure anyone's tried it that way yet.
