Galaxy S9+ February Front-Facing Camera Bug - Samsung Galaxy S9+ Questions & Answers

Guys, have you heard about SGS9+ Selfie Camera bug, that formed after the February firmware update?
I'm talking about auto-focus of the front camera at the very close range. The phone simply does not want to focus on the object when it is too close to the camera. Its a bug (and not only on my side, i've asked plenty of peoples that confirmed the bug), because phone could do it before the February update. Here is some of mine photo examples of the front camera shots, fuzzy image - Galaxy S9+, sharp image - Galaxy S8.

As far as i know, March update (that currently LIVE on German Galaxy S9) - WON'T fix this issue. The same fuzzy images at the close range still.
We have to somehow let Samsung Support know about this issue.

Just call Samsung support and report your findings

Already, but all they said to me - do wipe cache \ hard reset and go to the Service Store for warranty issue, our Support does not want to admit the problem, they said they don't have this issue. But its not true.
I think we have to somehow together report to Samsung Support so they really pay attention to this issue.

It actually happens at no matter which distance. Even when I move my face further away and try manually focusing on it, it ends up blurry. But auto focus works even when on close distance. This is a bug for sure, since the camera actually CAN focus the object on auto focus.
I wrote to samsung on samsung members app for a different bug regarding the navigation gestures, and first they said the same just to make a factory reset. After that I told them that I am a long - term samsung user and I know how to use my phone, explained that I already did a factory reset, explained the issue again and also attached a screen recording of the problem, and after that they said that they will make sure it reaches the development department.
So - just tell them that you already did everything that you as a user can do, and send proof that it actually is a bug.
I'll write to them.
Lets unite, people!

Seems like fixed now, right? April security patch

Do you use google camera apk for your S9?

I still have this problem. Hard reset and other things didn't work

Camera switch problem

Hi
I have a Galaxy S3 white 16gb.
One of the first first things a did when first turning on my new phone was to try the camera. I switched from the back to the front camera and then back again and now the camera app wont even open. After about 20 seconds after opening the camera app I get ' Unfortunately, Camera has stopped.'.
I thought if I turned the phone off and on again this may fix the problem but no. I then removed the battery for a few seconds but this again, this did not fix the problem.
The only way I could get the camera to work again was to do a factor reset. I just have to open up the camera app and switch from back to front and back again and the same problem occurs.
Is it only me?
Thanks
Me too

Is that what you mean?
I got it from Vodafone UK.
Sending Back
Hi,
No I'm not keeping mine. I also contacted samsung and they have said to return it to the supplier.
As for the firmware I connected mine to Kies and Kies informed me that my phone was not compatabile for a firmware upgrade via Kies. I can only guess that there is no firmware upgrade available.
Cas
I have been chatting in the Vodafone UK eforum.
I have spoken to Vodafone and they said it is not a known issue so seems like a hardware problem with my device. They are arranging for a new one to be sent to me Thursday so I can swap.
Other than that is seems like a great device.

I just tried what you said - took a pic with the front camera, switched to the back and took another, then closed and restarted the camera - and it worked fine for me.
Although I did spot that you're on a later revision than I am (my phone's SIM-free)

Yes I know that "well it works for me" isn't that helpful. That said, maybe you can use this as "evidence" that you've got a busted phone? HTH

Still not smooth.

Yeah. 4 years, and Google still can't make a smooth device.
I wanted to buy this thing, but I'm not so sure now. What's the point of such great hardware if the software can't handle it?

A gif?
Also, look up, the word "gullible" is written on the ceiling in 72 point helvetica font.
Well, maybe you could look at the gif and see that it's the Nexus 10 still having the same performance issues I had on Android since my very first Android...
Thing is, I was promised that the OS would be smooth/that it's beta software/that an update will fix it/that it's just one site.
And it's NEVER like that. Out of the five Android devices I owned (all high-end, I must add), not one didn't have any lag.
Five Android devices, five broken promises.
The device will be smooth, but I must admit that Chrome can stutter like this, If you used Dolphin or AOSP browser it just doesn't happen. Google dropped the ball with Chrome, it should have been updated faster, by making it the stock browser they are hurting the Nexus 10's reputation, this a a quote from the The Verge's review
"Not everything's perfect yet: scrolling in the browser can still be stuttery at times"
If Google had used stock AOSP browser, then perception of the device smoothness would have been much better. I cannot understand why Google released the device when a major part of the software was not bringing its A-GAME.
Are you crazy? Nexus 10 is super smooth you wont believe it, what does that stupid gif tell you? Buy the device and you will see. What a silly impression of the nexus 10-.-"
Let's wait until the device comes out before we start making claims about its performance.

[Ask] Install Custom ROM for Galaxy S III 'Look-a-Like' (Made in China)

To be honest, this is my first time experience with fake phone. But the first time I look, i thought it was real.
So, my friend bought Samsung Galaxy S III in china. She bought with a very cheap price, about $200. I thougt she can get that very low price because pass tax or black market. I already suspicious when im setting that phone, and i found many chinese app with chinese write, and cannot be uninstall. So i just disable it. I thought it using chinese firmware. Its menu on setting also different from other S3. There is no S-Voice on this phone. When im trying to connect with Samsung Kies, it not Detected.
And when im open the backlid, it surprised me. Here's the picture :

LOL
And theese are some screenshot I took
Setting menu
Chinese app
Phone Info
China really good at cloning something. IMPOSIBRU !!
And my friend give me authorities to do whatever with this phone, because she cant use skype and some apps. She still dont know yet that this phone is fake.
And my question is :
It is possible to change its ROM to a custom ROM ? Maybe use Rom that using same kernel?
If theres no possibilites, I will put my hands up and give this back to her, and laugh.
I guess the phone will have different hardware, kernel etc., hence it will be dangerous to try a I9300 rom on it. Give it a try if you don't care that it becomes a brick, otherwise don't do it

you'd most probably brick it. it's like trying to flash a honda pilot dashboard firmware onto a bmw 5 series dashboard firmware. different hardware and software. (even if it's both android, it's hardware wont allow it to work.

Are they fix orange color(some shade) issue for RYYB lens?
Nice! Of course it'll take a month or something like that before 95% of us gets the update, but at least it's something to look forward to.

Anybody out of China started receiving that update?
Found this chinese thread with a photo of before and after 162

I got the update like 2 nights ago. Chinese Version also VOG AL00
I guess the .162 would be the last one now that Google has also restricted them access to further security patches and updates. Next ota might the phone being upgraded to huawei's own OS

There's a Google statement about that. They said that phone certification will not be lost in the phone already in the market and they are trying to find a solution to support all the phone already sold.
We will see in the next days.

I guess our current situation is like the picture above. Will our devices be dusted ? Or will The Avengers Huawei prevail ?
Huawei and Google assured us that all current devices will enjoy continued access to Google's Framework. At the moment as in these 90 days period, we have nothing to worry about as Google will still work with Huawei in providing security patches.
So, the only issue now will be security patches, which will be delayed (not like it's on time now anyway) and the advancement to Android Q (which looks like it's totally off the menu for now).
Security patches will continue to work as Huawei mentioned and also i had a long talk with their local customer service manager here today. He assured me that all security updates will go on as per normal as they will be using sources from AOSP for the patches. Personally i feel, Huawei being a Giant, they definitely have some insiders or spies in Google and other major brands so getting the source before being announced publicly by Google seems a not as so far- fetched.
Anyway, I've used a lot of phones in the past including the S10 Plus and the P30 Pro seems to be one of the best I've used so far. Currently running software version 9.1.0.161 and most of the issues has been fixed. Colors seem so much more natural, no more stutters whilst panning in video mode, etc.
So to those who think the features outweighs the possibility of getting security updates in time, stick to your phone and don't get fed by the media as they're only fueling the current fire for attention.
Stay calm and hope Thanos Trump doesn't dust our beloved phones. :silly:
so many subjects addressing the same issue my friend, this conclusion was mentioned a gizilion times already
