if u have official version - updated via KIES u dont need to root the device at all. root is here to open new options...but u cant go wrong with the stock setup mate.
Root is a method of opening up the operating system at a deeper level .
As rooting voids warranty dont bother unless you need it .
1.What is root/rooting?
root is the user account in Linux with all privileges. The root user can edit anything on the system. For safety reasons, users do not have all those privileges. When you root your phone, you will gain write access to areas of the phone you couldn't previously access and are allowed to run more commands in the terminal. Because applications do not get a lot of priviledges, some of them require you to root the device in order for them to function properly (or fully).

Superuser installed but I have no root access?

Let me start off by saying I'm a total noob. I have rooted my device before, but that was so long ago I forgot everything. Anyway I don't remember how my tablet got this way because I haven't used it in a while, but I have superuser installed yet I have no root access. I opened up the Voodoo Rootkeeper and it says super user app is installed, device is rooted, but root permission hasn't been granted.
So I tried to root again on top of it hoping it would work but now I just have another superuser app. Somebody please help me get root access.

Thats what I used this last time when I tried to root it. It installed the second superuser app and when I opened it, it said that I needed to update binary or something like that. But I still had no root access after using motochopper.

I had the same issue after the last OTA. Root was lost and OTA rootkeeper didn't work.
This worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2038464
After successfully unlocking and installing TWRP and root, I went on to install this (but you can stop here if you don't want a different ROM): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827
I'm delighted by this ROM. Much better than stock.

I did a lot of searching, and tried several methods, but I couldn't find a solution which worked. Is your Prime still under warranty? If not, there's no reason not to unlock.

No its not. I just have no reason to unlock. I dont care about custom ROMs and I would like to be able to return it to stock if I want to later.

Rooting

I'm trying to get use out of this aging tablet. I figured there aren't going to be any updates coming so I would finally like to root the device. However, everything I've read and tried is outdated and hasn't worked. I was wondering if someone could help me root my device. I'm not looking to run any ROM or anything. I'd just like to have root and superuser access so I can uninstall a lot of unwanted apps. Below is my device information. I've just recently done a factory reset and have not installed any drivers on my computer. Starting fresh.
Computer:
- Windows 7 64-bit
Tablet:
- Android Version: 4.1.1
- Build number: 10.4.2.18
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a one-click solution to root that should work on your device if that is all you want to do:

I tried using Kingo. While the program said it rooted the device, I didn't have root access when I checked the app Root Checker and Titanium Back-up to uninstall all the unwanted apps.

Is your device unlocked? If you're not and you don't have any warranty, try unlocking it first then use kingo. It's what I used on several TF201 with no problem, but they were all unlocked so I don't know if being locked would cause the problem.

My device is NOT unlocked. How do I go about unlocking it? After I do so, I'll give Kingo another try.
You can disregard! I tried Kingo again, without unlocking, and for some reason it worked this time! I am currently uninstalling all the bloatware. Thank you all for your help.

Can an Unrooted phone be rooted again?

Hi Friends,
Is it as easy as it sounds? Thanks in advance!
Depends on the phone and how/why it was unrooted in the first place.
Hi, Thanks for you reply. It would be because an app doesn´t support rooted devices and just decided to go back and wanted to know if in the future it was possible to root back. Its for a friend. Can the unrooting and rooting again be done with only those apps used to root your phone or do you have to use a PC?

A bit more info would be useful (device, software, etc.). A phone can typically be rooted again, unless it receives a software update that patches the exploit. Also, the root method may vary, but if you had to use a PC to root it originally, chances are you'll need to use a PC again.
Hi,
I have a Galaxy S3 with Android 4.4. oh I see, if you root in originally with pc and then unroot it forwhatever reason, those one click rooting apps are not going to work right?

need a root procedure for the huawei Union y538

Did you use the apk or the PC version to obtain root?
how did this work
So did you ever find out if the PC or apk was used. Was there any issues, how did it work. Also has anyone figured out a hotspot mod for this device. I have it on the boost unlimited plan. I really need the hotspot.
Kingroot non PC version will work on any device but you ever uninstall king root will not reroot that device
My question is will the PC versipn?
kingroot
So I can just install the kingroot apk and it should root my device. I am kinda new to this. Will it also install SuperSU or will I need to find a way to flash it, if I need it at all. Also. Does anybody know about how to get free hotspot. I read that changing the apk to end in dun will work. Anybody know for sure.
Yes second try but if you ever uninstall you will be looking for a new way king root will not work a second time nomatter how you try but its safe will not brick device and will cover as antivirus phone protection oh if use antivirus get rid myself f it before you try kingroot or your phone will glitch king root is read as threat because it has no limitations on what it can do BTW I use the y538 model
hotspot
Have you found a hotspot hack or mod. I am gonna wait till I know I can get free hotspot before I root it.
I have my y538 rooted but I really want a custom recovery or rom anyone got one or know how
King root didn't work for me I've tried all and PC version, but very new to android and rooting. When I run the app it gets about halfway then stops and wont. Is there anything else I should've done as well, sorry but can't find anything, anywhere else about rooting this phone and version

Use KingRoot APK, does it easily.
I dont like the app myself so im going to remove it with lucky patcher soon. Once king root is installed into the system i cant get him out for fear of loosing root. I just installed SuperSu fromChaindd but now I can not update the binary, Im going to clone superuser from my other phone so hes updated and then may he will stay updated when I install to system app with lucky patcher.
Oh, and by the way, Your bootloader is locked so you wont be able to change the rom. SuperSu couldnt even install himself into the system like he has on every other phone. Dont even try to install a recovery at this point because your phone may never boot again!
Someone is going to have to dump a backup and figure out how to fool the checks into thinking its a real OTA update on the way back in.
