If I install this, it's end up in a Bootloop!
I already tested this!

rs988 lineage OS port

Does any one know if anyone is working on adding rs988 support to lineage OS or if anyone might be interested in giving it a shot?

I'm interested in this as well. I suspect initial sales number for rs988 was low but with stores like B&H blowing their inventory for $250, I suspect a lot of them are now being sold. Hopefully LineageOS will add support for this model before LG stops updating the phone.
Nothing yet for RS988 as I have been reading

Haven't tested yet, but someone did begin to stage an RS988 port of LineageOS:
https://github.com/LineageOS/android_device_lge_rs988
Will build myself when I get a chance... stuck on 10h and no 21a KDZ in sight.
I'd be happy to test... but my PC likely can't handle building tho

You don't need a KDZ to get off of 10h. Autoprime posted a fix months ago via TWRP

Yeah, tried it a couple hours after I posted. I just got my RS988, so catching up.
The LG Bootloader Unlock site was completely dysfunctional with Chrome on Mac, apparently not alone in that. Will try to build LineageOS tonight and try unlocking again with a PC...
I primarily am interested in LineageOS as this is a Cat 12 LTE phone for under $200, and with LineageOS I could retool the device for IoT use... alongside Cat 12 speeds.
Unfortunately it appears LG has shut the door on Brightpoint RS988's. Attempting to unlock the bootloader on LG's web site now displays a specific error, noting that the Brightpoint version of the RS988 is not elegible for bootloader unlock.
Why LG is going to this length, for a small carrier (which I'm all but certain doesn't care one bit about this scenario), is beyond me. But it certainly has soured me to trying again. Probably going to hold out for a Sony XZ1 Compact at this point.
I was able to unlock bootloader from LG . anyluck on lineage for RS988?
I would like to try building Lineage OS for the RS988. I've never built a rom from source though. Can anyone tell me what I would need to do to get started?
Check multiple guides on XDA or on youtube

Be prepared that sadly LineageOS has enormous amount of bugs that might be untrivial to solve like broken NFC & quick charge for most of devices, buggy Bluetooth, crashing apps and such.
+ you need Linux either locally or in VM
Unofficial port is being developed
So there is an unofficial one that I have found works fairly well. Like all first versions there are some bugs of course, but very good first step in my opinion.

Give it a try but as with all mods from a stock user beware.

Mysself and @MotoJunkie01
Are working on fixing aboot to allow for custom recovery which will in turn allow for flashing a custom rom.
As of yet. Custom rom is not possible
So its been around a year. Are there anymore advancements made with this phone? Or has it just been abandoned? Would really like to have root without bootloop issue and a custom rom would be fantastic. Please let me know!

It isn't as much that device development has been abandoned as it is that Android in general is quickly evolving. I think I'm safe in saying that interests have shifted. With the release of Android Pie 9.0, and with official releases of LineageOS 15.1 for various devices, interests have shifted to devices which are not as locked down as the Zone 3, and devices for which development is more easily implemented. Don't get me wrong, I love the Zone 3 and only recently purchased a new one. However, the Zone 3, like many budget LG smartphones, is difficult in terms of development due to the OEM's policies regarding device security.
In addition, full root has been available for the Zone 3 for some time, without boot looping and without display driver issues. Seek out @Astr4y4L over at Android Central, where he now develops, and he should put you on the right path.

[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.2.3.0 for the Idol 4

Hey all, back again with an updated TWRP for you. Again, this TWRP was made by the awesome TWRP Builder Team. This is TWRP 3.2.3.0 for the 6055U Cricket model but should work on all the other models as well. This time I'm not only releasing TWRP but I'm also releasing the source code for it in tar.gz and zip formats.

Clarification of 6055K compatibility
Hello PizzaG!
It's lovely to see development and updates for the Idol 4.
I have a 6055K device and I want to improve the software available for it.
Much like yourself, I find it quite difficult to find relevant documentation that can help me build system software for the phone.
Before that, I must gain root access and so I need a TWRP package for 6055K.
I checked the sources you uploaded and compared them to the ones by DeckerSU.
Unfortunately, I can't evaluate the significance of the differences nor the accuracy of your guess that "the 6055U Cricket model [...] should work on all the other models as well".
I'm not sure what the possible outcomes are if I try to flash a package meant for a 6055U on my 6055K.
It's not clear if it is still advisable to follow DeckerSU's instructions considering they are close to two years old.
I'd like to combine the sources you uploaded with the original ones made by DeckerSU specifically for the 6055K but I don't know how to do this merge.
I would very much appreciate any help with finding answers to some of these questions.
Thank you.
The partition setup is all the same, TWRP will work fine on any 6055 Model. As far as Roms go, the only difference is options and a few software Apps. 6055U rom will work fine on 6055K. If you have Dual-Sim, that will not work out of the box. I think I have an easy fix to get it working properly but I can't test because I have the Single-Sim model. I did mess with some settings and was able to enable Dual-Sim on my model but I lost Data connectivity. I'm confident it will work as it should on the 6055K though.
The 6055U has a different process to get TWRP on the phone and I was able to come up with a much easier way to do that. The 6055K you will still want to use the old DeckerSu process to get TWRP on your phone as it's still a valid way to do that.

[Recovery] TWRP 3.4.0.0

Hello everyone. I have a very good used LG G3 and I was doing some research and I found there was an new update for TWRP for our LG G3 devices.
http://www.twrp.me (Link goes to the owners of TWRP, and not me.)
Just wanted to let everyone know. I will be starting a ROM project and see how it goes in a few weeks.

Question Custom ROM for Moto G Power (2021)

Hi guys,
I am forced to upgrade my moto G5 plus due to a network update
In my moto G5 plus I have installed dotOS with android 11 and I am really happy with it, and I would like "clone" it on a Moto G Power.
Here are some questions:
1) since Moto G Power (2021) is not listed on dotOS but a GSI ARM64 available, has anyone experienced with that? I am also open to other custom ROMS (also Lineage OS doesnt have this devicelisted)
2) I also noticed that TWRP is not available for Moto G Power (2021), is there a good alternative or I have to use adb fastboot?
Thanks!
Edit:
I just found the thread:
[RECOVERY][UNOFFICIAL] TWRP 3.6.0-11 [BORNEO] Android 11 Based (updated 12/11/2021)
I can try that for question 2

Presently I don't believe it is possible to have a custom rom as we need the kernel be released for it to have a chance, or a compatible similar device and its kernel.
Hi Onoitsu and thank you for the reply,
so I guess I could go with the stock ROM. I noticed that I can use https://mirrors.lolinet.com/firmware/moto/borneo/ has an official and blankflash (not sure what the difference is). If I understand the process correctly I could:
1) unlock bootloader
2) flash twrp in recovery
3) flash blankflash.zip (or official?) through twrp
4) flash magisk through twrp
5) restore my old phone dotOS android 11 backup through twrp
and I should have all the apps and data as in the old device?

The blankflash is only if you can no longer flash anything by usual methods
Blankflash and EDL Mode
Is my device in EDL Mode?

Thanks for the info!
Should the reasoning above work if I use official instead of blankflash?

Thanks sd_shadow for the info, it is really helping me out.
I saw your post for using LSMA, but I couldnt find a Linux version. Is there one? Or the only other option I have is going through the fastboot process?
Can anyone tell me if there is going to be custom roms made for Borneo?

Mostly concerned because google has said they're going to stop their 'less secure app' thing at the end of this month and it might mean textnow will stop working outright for people that don't use play services.
Hopefully anyone working on making a custom rom for Borneo will see this thread and maybe give an idea if its going to happen.
Does this help?
If I wanted to start from scratch what would I need to know to make my own custom rom? Don't need a phone, will only ever use wifi. Just need microg basically.
The following statement is on the dotOS FAQs:
Q: My device is not supported! What should I do?!A: First reason can be that our development team doesn't have your device to support it or we no maintainer applied for this device. You can always use our GSI builds if your phone supports Treble Project.
Here we have this statement:
... Google requires every Certified Android device launching with Android 8.0 Oreo and above to support Treble.
Here borneo is listed as a supported device.
Does this mean dotOS GSI supports MotoGPower 2021 without the need of vendor blobs?

@sd_shadow
Two sites that potential rom developers may want to check out:
1) https://github.com/moto-common
check out: https://github.com/moto-common/andr...ernel/blob/12/dtb/bengal-moto-base-borneo.dtb
2) https://github.com/moto-sm6115
Scroll through the list of repositories, particularly in the moto-common site
@sdembiske that looks promising, I am willing to give it a shot and contribute to the community. Is there a good guide on how to build the kernel with vendor tree/blobs etc...?
Reference "Moto G Power 2021 XT2117-4 Firmware Extractions" - You will find the extracted kernel etc. in the boot.img extracted link that you can download - there are many other extractions that you hopefully can use to build a custom or AOSP rom.
Your best bet would be to add a pre-built kernel in the build - you can google that for how-to's.

The Xiaomi poco m3 has the same SoC and other innards as the Moto G Power 2021 and it also has unofficial Lineage OS 19 support. I am considering hitting them up and using their code as part of the build. I'm also requesting Motorola Mobility LLC to release the kernel source for Android 11. I already have a device tree for Borneo on my github. Me and Fazwalrus have a telegram chat set up for the ROM development here
