I new to this group, but just like you all i am also experiencing problems with my XDA.
When sending and email or SMS with I select a name form my addressbook;
in case of an SMS when I click (touch) the name it paste the email address , instead of mobile phone number; and when I want to send an email it paste gsm numbers or others.
Do you recognise this problem and have you got an answer?
Thanks!
No, same problem here.... no solution yet

Hi All,
I have a HTC hero running MoDoCo custom rom r4 on Tmobile UK.
I use google contact to store my contacts and link there profiles to facebook twitter etc.
My issue is that i have set up a group in my contacts that i send txt jokes to.
So when i go to forward these txt jokes my phone sends it to all the phone numbers and email addresses in the persons contacts, so sends it as a MMS not TXT so this limits it to 10 ppl that the msg can be sent to only.
I have looked at the contacts and both the mobile and email address are marked as Primary , how do i stop this from happening as its well annoying
Any advice hints or tips greatly recived
Thanks in advance

Ok, here is my problem. My conutry code is 505, I have my contact list, if I received an sms it will show the number not the name in my contact, so I discover that is when a Contact write to me some time (think is a network related stuff) it adds an +505 to the number I have in contact, so my phone does not link that sms to my contact. And If I tried to fix adding the +505 to the contact number it now shows the name in sms, but when they called me....it shows just the number...its a little confusing. Is there a way to fix that?
This is my first post, so I hope I'm going about this in the right way. Thanks in advance for your patience and assistance. I haven't been able to find anything related to this issue on these forums or the web, as I think it is a difficult problem to explain and not sure what key words to search by.
At least since Android OS 4.1, and now also with 4.2, I am having issues with the stock SMS app. Many of my contacts are saved in the format 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx. When I go to the SMS app and click new message, then type in a contact's name, if they have their number formatted as such, the number becomes truncated by removing the parenthesis and what is between them, so it becomes 1 xxx-xxxx. obviously sending the text message fails and does not reach the intended recipient.
It works fine with numbers formatted as 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx, xxx-xxx-xxxx, and (xxx) xxx-xxxx. I've tested it with all these iterations. This is very frustrating and the only workaround is to search back in the SMS history and find that person and click reply, or to go the People app and search for the contact and then click the send SMS icon next to the number under their contact info, or to copy and paste the number from their contact info into the SMS app.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is this even on the Android team's radar as a bug that needs fixing? How do I let them know?
UPDATE!!!
Allow me to illustrate the issue with screen shots:
I created 5 test contacts with differently formatted numbers (the numbers were all randomly chosen and you can see they are labeled as follows in the screen shots)
Test 1: 1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx
Test 2: +1 (xxx) xxx-xxxx
Test 3: 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx
Test 4: xxx-xxx-xxxx
Test 5: (xxx) xxx-xxxx
This shows the five contacts when i type in test to the add contact search field

Selecting contact Test 1 as the recipient of SMS/MMS. Notice that the area code is omitted and therefore the contact is not recognized, so no name is populated.

Selecting contact Test 2 as the recipient of SMS/MMS. This works and the name and number of the contact are shown appropriately.

Any one else have this issue? This is clearly a bug, not sure how to bring it to android developers attention.
Thanks.

Could anybody be kind enough to shed some light on this matter? Or direct me to a more appropriate forum / thread / audience?
Many thanks.

I am also experiencing this issue, I have opened a bug report for this: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=42325. You may wish to add your extra findings to the bug report.
Ah I had already done likewise, I should have shared the link. Hopefully an android dev can merge the issues.
Since I can't post links yet, my bug report is issue number 41959, which can be found by searching the link paul posted.
Having the same problem also. Any help please...
Have a strange issue, when I send email using the stock email app via my pop3 account the outgoing name does not display. I know how to set it, I can set it in the settings and it stays there I have changed it etc but whenever i send an email it does not get applied properly. The real issue is, on my outlook client when i receive the email it comes form an unknown sender (name AND email address is unknown) when i send an email to a exchange server it picks up the form email address but not the name. Now this plays HAVOC with spam because every spam filter in the world is going to mark an email with an unknown sender as spam.
It used to work just fine, the only change I made, (and I can't remember if it worked after the change or not) was that I went form the stock 2.3.4 ROM to bruno martins 2.3.5 V3.3MOD ROM.
Any advice? I could probably copy over a copy of the original email.apk file to see if it fixes it but anyone else experienced this?
phone is an adroid star a3 (also known as G11)

So the actual problem is "," . When you are sending SMS to two contacts, then your format should be like :
+XXX XXX XXX,+XXX XXX XXX [Notice the "," between the numbers]
For sending to a single contact :
+XXX XXX XXX ie. You don't need any "," , while sending SMS to a single contact .
Hope this solves your problem .
I can't delete the "," that's the problem. Its just there. Its not in my contact profile, it's in the sms application. Please see added picture.
If I compose the text and push send it says Invalid recipients entered
If I go to new message-> add recipient and find the same contact from my phone book then I can send the SMS eventually but that pretty annoiyng.

Anyone?!
