hi! i was just wondering if anybody knew a way of getting messenger to connect over a lan, or internet explorer to connect over a lan? i have my xda setup to connect via gprs, but not as a standard connection. so whenever i try to use IE or messenger it doesnt recognise the connection. i can get the ezwap to work, because i could change the setting on it to connect over a lan, but i cant find anywhere to change the others.
thanks
Go into active-sync on your PC. (I assume you mean using you PC LAN). Then go into options -> Rules.
In Pass through, choose Connection: The Internet.
This should do what you want.
basically what it is is, im using a seperate dial up connection via gprs which IE and messenger dont recognise and dont think theres a connection. can i change the settings in the registry to get them to only connect via a lan, i.e. piggy backing over the connection i have.
thanks
How did you get yours working with ISP, I have made number of trials. No, luck et all. I can not internet/isp/gprs working. By the way I am on another network than I originally purchased. So neither of them giving any support.
Thanks.
sometimes you have to reconnect in to the cradle to get it working

Hello, can you help me with following issue ? I have some kind of internet connection issue. Im still connect to 3G network. Internet is working great in Opera, IE, weather update.
But I cannot connect via my programs in start menu, for example Omarket, Marketplace, resco contact manager, even My Phone. I still get the message check your internet connection. Any idea ? Thank you very much.
Connection cannot be establish with 3G nor WIFI.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get internet from my computer to the vibrant via bluetooth? To be clear, I do NOT want 2G/3G on my computer, I want to share my LAN connection with my phone. I'm deployed to Iraq and I have a wired connection to my computer that I want to share with my phone. I've tried connectify and similar options but they don't seem to work. I've got XP and 7 on the laptop, so if there's an option for either it'll work.
Thanks in advance.
Using bluetooth would be slow. You'll want to create an adhoc wireless network on your computer. Here's how to in XP:

Edit: This is, if you have wireless on your computer.
Maybe this is the incorrect forum, but I am looking for a way to share a wifi connection through a wifi connection. I am playing out tomorrow for vacation and would like to use the inflight wifi. However, I don't want to pay for my computer, my phone, and my wife's computer. Is there an app for Android that could connect to the inflight wifi and then share that connect via wifi (or maybe BlueTooth?) to our computers. Or maybe one of our computers (OS X or Windows 7) to connect via wifi and then share out that wifi?
Your Windows PC should be your safest bet:

Sharing Internet via wifi
i connected my blackberry bold 9780 to my laptop and i use it as a modem. i then used virtual router to share the 3G connection to my motorola xoom wifi. i can go online using google chrome just fine but all the other other apps, whether default or downloaded, refuse to connect online. im wondering if it's an adapter setting that i need to adjust or something. p,lease help. i am very frustrated at not bein able to use internet depending apps. it breaks my heart.
Apologies if this has been asked before, but I've searched and couldn't find anything that matches what I'm after.
I have a GNex running custom 4.2.2 and Windows 7 x64.
I want to be able to access my phone from my PC. To do this, I installed AirDroid. All good so far.
Issue 1: Using WiFi to access the phone, it doesn't do anything when the screen is off/the device is locked. Annoying.
Issue 2: Using USB tethering, it works fine when the screen is off, but kills my PC's internet access. Also annoying.
I would like to use USB tethering if possible, but I only want to be able to access my phone via AirDroid, not use it for internet (my PC has a much better wired connection already).
More on issue 2: Windows says the DNS server is unavailable when I troubleshoot. The moment I plug in my phone and the NDIS-thingy connection is formed, I lose internet access via my normal connection. It goes back to normal as soon as I unplug it. I've tried changing the priority of the network devices, but to no avail.
Any help appreciated.
Solved my own problem.
To those who are curious:
Under network settings for the USB tether, set DNS server addresses manually, go into advanced settings, and set the default gateway to whatever your router's address is.
Hi,
I have a wireless router that allows me to plug in a Hard drive / SD Card etc. It can be a bridge to another network or an Access Point etc but can also just be a LAN without an internet connection allowing access to the connected devices.
This works perfectly on my Nexus tablet / PC etc, however, on my Mate 20 Pro, the connection is unstable to the point of not being able to use it. I get a notification saying the WiFi connection doesn't have an internet connection I press connect anyway and from there it keeps dropping and reconnecting the connection.
If I plug the router into a network point and give it an internet connection it works perfectly on the Mate 20 and any other devices.
I think this is some clever connection manager thing Huawei is doing to try to connect to the internet but can't find a way to stop it. I am going travelling and wanted to only take the router and my phone however it is looking like I will need to take my tablet too to use it for what I need.
I've searched and searched the internet and here for clues but nothing so I am hoping someone has an idea.
Thanks
Andrew
