XDA O2 Sound Problem - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Dear PDA users,
At the moment I'm experiencing a sound problem with my XDA. When I play a sound, it's playing it at maximum speed. When I do a full reset, it starts playing sounds extremely slow and speeds up every time I play a sound...until it's at its maximum again.
I have ROM version 3.15.15. Hope you can help.
Vincent.

[Q] sound will not work if the screen is off on HD2

I have a silly little problem. I put ROM Omega V25 XT with Co0kie's Home Tab v2.0 on my HD2. For audio and video playback I use CorePlayer v.1.3.2, which works without problems (tested on HD2 with the original ROM and the HD1 for a year now). The problem occurs when you switch off the screen, the sound just goes out though CorePlayer continues to work properly. In short the sound will not work if the screen is off. I tried the Omega v26 but same problem is present. Just don't know what to do. If you leave the phone and the screen turns itself off then the sound works but every 15-20s is interrupted. Does anyone have any idea. 3 different ROM did not help, reset did not help. Ideas?
I think there's a setting somewhere within coreplayer to set the sound to continue playing when the screen is off. Not sure though.

Option Play music in the background is active. The problem is that cell phone turns off the sound, but play still goes normally. After unlocking the phone can see that music still going. To reactivate the sound it is necessary to pause and restart music. If you use a player from the SENC and the sound works without any problems.
I have the impression that the ROM will shut down all applications to conserve battery which prompted me to turn off the power savings, but this did not help.

[Q] All sound sped up 8x?

Hello,
Well, I was having this really really weird problem where all of the sounds emanating from my phone were running at 8x speed, like music, system notifications, ringtones, applications, games, everything but voice calls between two people. My phone is unrooted 4.1.83. The way I know it's 8x speed is because i listened to a song and the time counter at the bottom of the player is normal speed, so when the song ended, I just did original duration of song over the actual duration to get how many times it was sped up. Point being, after I rebooted my phone, it was fine, but has anyone else had this problem and do you know what caused it?
Here's the vid
and idk if the link will be blocked so go to youtube and add this /watch?v=LQpzcaaO9EU
YES! this has happened to me 3 times while streaming music. then my notifications are sped up real fast and i have to reboot. dont know what the prob is but glad i'm not the only one.
Yeah this happened on mine too so its not at&t

Gingerbread Audio Lag

It seems that the long awaited Gingerbread Update isn't bug free.
I listen often to music with my phone and i noticed that while using the phone during playback the audio stops, stutters or cracks when you rotate the phone.
I've tried all players and it affects every one....

i notice same thing.. and that flaw is simply hilarious..
and i have no idea why the whole system is just so lag as f***
The audio issues make me wanna cry.
Why cant there be a decent update for my X10?

There are actually two different problems with music playback on all stock GB based ROMs:
1. Music stutters when you are operating with phone (screen unlock, home button press, launching apps....) and wired headphones are connected.
2. Music skips for a second when played through bluetooth headset when phone idles. This happens mostly when the screen is off approx. once in a minute. Even when the wifi is off.
Wifi is known to interfere with A2DP Stereo headset music playback but this is not the case.
I experience both problems on stock and stock pre-rooted ROMs (fps uncap applied)
What ROMs are you guys using? Do you have fps uncap applied? (let's rule out this mod is not causing the problem)

I think it has to do with the new CPU governor introduced with Gingerbread and also the Multitasking disability Gingerbread itself introduced.
I have performed more tests. Findings are:
1. two problems I have mentioned are actually the same probably with a common cause.
Using BT the audio skips. Playing the music through wired headphones and stock music player it stutters. I have not noticed the stuttering before (because of 2.) as skipping is more noticeable.
2. using different player (I tried PlayerPro) the skipping and stuttering when phone is idle and screen off is significantly reduced. Not 100% sure but it might not be there at all.
Stuttering when screen is unlocked is still there. On PlayerPro it is actually more like a very short gap, instead of stutter.
3. Both stock music player and PlayerPro force-close every time when switching between wired and bluetooth playback without stopping the app first.
i have audio lags too... this is so sad
Greetings guys ,
I have similar problem , when i switch off the screen there is a millisecond pause of the music and then back on , this can happen also sometimes when the phone screen its off at random time .
I hope there is a fix for this soon.

I already have it since Friday. Until know even the biggest cache should be builded.
Hi do you have the pre rooted or stock and also what type of sdhc card ur using?
class 4 or 2?
I'm using a class 4 card, and I get a very little lagg of less then one second when turning screen on. Not annoying, but it shouldn't be like this. But that is maybe because phone is building cache.

Really hope SE releases a fix for this soon. This is definitely something they should not have overlooked considering how long they took with testing this update.
I've used Mixzing for over a year now. First thing I installed when I upgraded to GB.
I'm testing it out and using different scenarios but not getting any pauses or stutters in music. I may get the odd crack.
But Mixzing has settings to increase buffer size and one other setting that reads:
Leave Equalzer On?
Leave EQ on when in background on phones with bug that cause skipping
If you Google, You'll find some evidence of audio issues in GB on other devices, not just x10.
Anyone found a temporarily solution for this?

Tried Mixzing and even enabled huge buffer size but nothing changes. Inconsistant audio playback all the way...
I would just like to meet the developer and smash my X10 in his face!!!!

[Q] CM7 Thunderbolt sound problem

I wasn't able to post on the dev. part of the TB forum since I don't have 10 posts, I searched and couldn't find anything that really fit my problem.
My problem; I've been on CM7 for maybe a month now and it's starting to drive me crazy. When I'm listening to the radio or music or something at work and a notification sound plays, well it doesn't really play it just makes my music go silent for a few seconds then continues to play my music. That's a little annoying but I learned to live with it, but more times than not when I get a text or any other sound that will play over what I'm listening to my sound completely cuts out and doesn't come back, I hear a sort of static sound so I have to restart my phone. I ended up disabling all notification sounds so it doesn't do that but sometimes when I even load up skype when it has that sound play it does it. What would the problem be? any help would be great, thank you so much!
A little question, this is my first time installing a rom, lets say I want to update it, I get the latest kernal, that doesn't wipe everything on my phone right? It's basically just like an update? Again thank you so much!
CM7 is amazing, thank you for putting your time and effort into making it!

installing a kernel will not wipe your rom, but installing a rom will wipe out the kernel you had previously to whatever comes with the rom. It's also better to post questions generally here than the developer's forum.
FWIW I'm on stock rooted and every now and then I'll lose the mp3 player sound (player will show its playing, but no sound from headphones or back speaker) after the phone rings or some other alert goes off, and the only way I've found to get the mp3 player to provide sound again is to reboot.
So this might problem might not be limited to CM7.

[Q] Neutrino v2.0 and above audio skipping

Has anyone else experience the same problem where their music would not play smoothly anymore Neutrino v2.0 and v2.1(p)? My music played just fine on v1.4.
I'm using powerAMP and I've already tried increasing the audio buffer and the audio thread priority and neither is fixing the problem. This happens both from the speaker and through the headphone.
I saw a post about this in the main dev thread no one else seemed to have followed up on it =(.

I think it has something to do with the 'Media step' mod, which I deleted from V2.0 onwards so it shouldn't be a problem...
Can you describe in more detail what happens?
The phone runs very smooth in all other aspects, but the audio would hiccup...as if I was listening to CDs that were scratched.
I have had the same experience. I have tried different music programs so it's not app-specific. I've also flashed a different kernel to see if that could be the problem.
I have noticed I do not get the same bugs as on different cm7 ROMs where the speaker wouldn't work at all after unplugging from the car dock so the trade-off's been worth it.
I only experiance this when the phone switches from 3g to H. And the slipping becomes extremely bad when I lose service for a bit. If I go to networks and select 2g only, it seems to somewhat fix it. Until I drop service. Used several different radios with the same result
I'm going a hunch that the tweak to the windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec in the build.prop is somehow interfering - I've edited mine from 150 to 50 and I think it sounds smoother on the speaker but that could just be deceiving. I'll update after I've used it in the car dock on my way home.
-Update-
To I'm sure no one's surprise, this did not work. Music still pops. Maybe once or twice every thirty seconds.
I just tried playing music in airplane mode and the music doesn't skip either with Wi-fi on or off.
Is this problem only with PowerAmp? Does it work fine with other music players?

Every music player. Stock, double twist, poweramp etc. I have tried them all.
Confirmed for me with every music player, not just with powerAMP.
TTT Any fix yet?
I've been looking into this over the weekend. It happens on all media players I've tested:
DoubleTwist
WinAmp
PowerAMP
Stock
Sometimes it is so subtle that you wouldn't noticed if you didn't literally have every nuance of a song memorized. I took logcat logs and marked every "skip" I heard, while playing video games with my headphones on for a few hours this weekend, but nothing stuck out of the logs.
This issue is not in 1.4S, but was in 2.0, 2.1, and still in 2.1P. Sorry I don't have any other useful info.
DK
Will yours skip if in airplane mode? Mine doesn't.
mine actually skips in airplane mode aswell, but rarely...
See if it skips in V2.2...
Bad news...the audio still skips. I'm seeing that it happens often especially when there are changes in reception, like when it's switching between h+ and 3g...
I can happily confirm that setting SeCPU profiles to sleep at max and min @ 456mhz fixes the skipping.
Hmmm, I thought that would hinder the battery saving effects of clocking down. I've been clocking the CPU down to around 216-312 Mhz when my phone is idled.
Usually I'm playing audio on the phone when I'm driving and I have the phone plugged in to the car charger, I'll try to increase the min clock for when the phone is charging and report back.
I don't know if it's worth mentioning again, but with the same setting I have now in V1.4, the audio doesn't skip at all. I'll also test if this is happening with weekly #6 as well.
I realize this is a bit off topic, but seeing as how my issue is audio related I figured I'd give it a shot.
In short, my internal speaker is going in and out. There's no specific instances I'm seeing, but I can say I notice it most when it goes out during a phone call. A couple of times I've noticed a bit of a raspy sound, kind of like a loose speaker wire or skipping cd would make (which leads me to think it's the speaker itself).
That being said, if anyone else is having this issue I'd like to help out as best I can.
I'm on 2.2, btw. Currently running 100% EE, with the CM7 provided Google Apps.
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the intrusion.
