Siemens SX56 Pocket PC and XDA Car Kit - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Does anybody have any experience or can they comment on the use of a Siemens SX56 (HTA made Pocket PC for ATT in USA) in the XDA carkit?
I can not find anyone in the US that has a clue about this phone (very sad), but the XDA looks identical and I am desperately seeking one.
Thanx!

You can safely buy any accesories for the XDA, MDA, Qtek 1010, or whatever other names they sell 'em by, and hook these up to your Siemens SX-56.

Thanx! This board rules.

Now if only I can find someone that will ship to the US!

Well, there's a change: usually it's the rest of the world figuring out who will ship something from the US... :|
Good luck though...

Must be getting blind
Jezus, its time I replace those lenses, I hope i kissed my wife goodby this morning and not somebody else his wife.
ummm ur confused
I'm not so certain that T-Mobile USA will carry the MDA II or perhaps they would call it PPC Phone II. With all the new devices coming out, Motorola MX, HP 6000, these devices maybe picked up in the US, before the MDA II and in fact the MDA II may never see the light of day in the US. HTC seems to be way behind production anyway. It is hard to get the device period, let alone a mass production for the US. With all the new devices coming out I'm wondering how well HTC is going to be positioned for the world market, let alone the US, in this form factor.
Hard sayin Mate.

Everything I have heard has been that T-Mobile will not be releasing it here in the US. Apparently they are going to market another device here.

im wondering if theres a place where the t mobile market keeps a secret to the public to when the xda2 will come out to tmobile stores or if they ever will

I agree with you about the price, $650.00 is about as much as I'm willing to spend and thats with tax included.
hmm i want to buy a xda2 but not on ebay and i live in the us where could i get one
I agree too!!!!
I agree with all of you guy about the price, is too expensive to spend more than $700 for something that you won’t have technical support /warranty/ US plugs, and staff like that!!!!!

Yes it seems that everyone is out-of-stock at the moment. I just came from Thailand and had no luck either.
But have you not given that Expansys link above I would not have noticed a great looking inexpensive new powerPC phone on their pages that is similar to XDA.

Phone seems interesting and graphics chip performance looks REAL good too. I'd like to see more reviews on this one.
.
It does look like an interesting PDA/phone . . . but not having BlueTooth for wireless headset NOR WiFi does limit the device a bit, doesn't it? Sure, it supports SDIO, in which you could use a WiFi or BT card - but not both simultaneously. I use that configuration a good bit with my i-mate.
Still . . . it is good to see the line of available products expanding - pushing the envelope is a good thing!

I agree. Competition should push prices down too
Ps. Anyone know how to get hold of this device??

XDA Unlock on Ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=69929&item=5104338774&rd=1
selling software unlocking for XDA...wonder if they are 'selling' software from this site?
hi i saw this auction as well and i was thinking the same thing. i have a o2 XDA II which is locked on o2 network. dont have the phone in my hand to try it though. i was wondering if i do try the tool and does not work. is this ebay thing goin to work for me for sure ?
jesal,
I suggest you search this forum. The point mbeale is making is that someone is selling software that is freeware.
Type in 'unlocking' into the search engine of this site, and seek and ye shall find!
I am an orange sim card user in my o2 phone, and it works like a dream boat.
Mess again if you have any problems, and when it works like a dream, make a donation to the writer direct, not to the guy selling on ebay (unless one and the same!!)
Cheers
JJcodex

can anyone take a look here?

since last month i am searching for this phone but not succeded i have posted in my forum but no one replied yet
i just wanna buy xdaIIs or pda2k

looking forward for the sooner response
Ehhh...
You know..
They sell these all over the place..
Try your local cellphone dealer, or e-bay, or on the page you got the picture from..
Expansys..
Try froogle.com for Gods sake!
---- Edit reason ----
Corrected spelling "or ene the page" to "or on the page".
I don't think they have a local reseller in heaven
Try "PDA2K Pakistan" or "PDA2K Heaven" in Google...
PDA2k or counterparts
You can try the Imate store but the best place to go is Ebay in US, or Canada, or UK, well you get the idea. That is were I got my MDA III from and Problaby were alot of the people here on this forum got there devices from as well. If you want a good case for it I went and got a Krusell which you can get from the Imate store and sometimes on Ebay. I spent more time getting a case than I did a unit. Good luck and Happy Hunting!
BTW: Check out Ebay USA seller : madmonkeyboy . He has some deivces and extra batteries.
thx guys,
i have just purchased pda2k. and i love this matchless device
and failed to upload themes
these are *.tsk files please guide me how to upload????

How do you take off the Wizards housing?

Hello,
I ordered a new full set housing for my Cingular 8125 and it should come in the next week or two. When I get it, whats the best way to remove the original housing?
I have absoluteley no Idea how to change the housing, but don't forget to make pictures while you change.
Thanks,
Andre
Where did you get the new housing and is it different from the original one?

The 8125 wizard casing is all over ebay but some sellers charge upto $90 for it! You should find dissassembly instructions in the service manual on the FTP site. I have the MDA vario wizard casing ( no stubby aeriel ) listed on ebay under id fluffcat1.
Richard
I too would like to change my 8125 housing. I dropped mine the day after I bought it. I think the stock case was my problem. I hate tucking it in and out of that thing. I have another one coming and want to get another housing.
GSXR_6:
Where can I locate the FTP site. Sorry, I'm new and this is my first post.
I also thought of reworking the color of the housing once the warranty is passed.
Here we go, 3rd attempt (having issues with attaching file.)
HTC Wizard WIZA200 housing with MDA T-MOBILE written on bottom left and right:
Ebay Item Number 130005148788
2 more housings (almost double the price of previous) with T-MOBILE written on bottom center:
Ebay Item Number 9733402561
Ebay Item Number 9141941613
And the attached service manual is the one from the FTP just renamed from Prodigy to Wiard so i could locate it easier on my pc.
Also when disassembling your device watch out for the clips, i've broken a total of like 4 or 5 on my device, although when all put back together it is good as new.
ok, stupid thing doesn't want to attach.go to the Wiki of this site and theres an ftp tutorial of how to get to it.
Can someone please link me to the ftp page where I can download the instructions on how to replace my wizard's housing? I can't find it on the ftp site.

That's my auction
They are both original BTW, mine are t-mobile UK 'MDA vario' cases and Che_sir's are US spec - the only difference being the placing of the logos.
I only have limited quantities ( 2 left for now) and che_sir seems to have loads of 'em.
Che_sir also has digitisers and other parts that I simply cannot get hold of :-(
But I'm cheaper
Richard
HAHA, I think i messaged you on ebay asking about other parts for the wizard. Well i might have to buy one of the cases, depending on the damaged wizard i just bought on ebay for parts. We'll see.
Cingular 8125 & T-Mobile MDA
Even though these 2 are the varient from Wizard, but is the housing interchangable? What I mean is buying a Cingular housing for T-Mobile MDA. Is there a good place to buy T-Mobile MDA housing other than ebay? Thanks!! 8)
Check the FTP.

Disassembly of the 8125 (Dopod 838 case) is a little bit different from the Tmobile mda (Qtek 9100) casing. I still haven't found instructions for the 8125 but for the mda, its on the ftp site.

i didn't realize the that the 8125 was the wiza 100 (and it looks imo)
how different can it be, is it not just the shape of the housing, meaning the clips and principles must be same/similar
anyway here is another guide to disassembly (actually the stylus fix) still of the wiza200 but the pictures may be clearer if it may help

Lots of threads rearts, search is your friend.
--M
I was curious about this for the Cingular 8125, and while I love to search, I'm also a fan of all-inclusive posts, rather than leaving valuable info scattered.
If I find through searching, I'll post one single thread with info for both 8125 and MDA refurbishing supplies. Maybe one of the mods can sticky it if I do that.
PocketPCTechs offers a set of plastic parts for the 8125, but not the MDA. Given that the MDA and 8125 have basically identical hardware, you could probably put MDA guts into an 8125 case.
T-Mobile Vario Replacement Housing
Mobile Fun has a complete vario housing but not out just yet but should be in a couple weeks time but u can pre order it.
