What is the Blackberry for XDA2 ??
I still wonder everytime when i read that message.
I may wait for look it when it released.
Apparently, it allows the XDA II to receive e-mail via the Blackberry system.
What features it actualy supports hasn't really been said. I have heard that it has limited features, so as to not steal sales away from actual Blackberry devices.
We will have to wait and see.

Screen resolution and quality of maps is not very good (on WildFire).
Maps seem to only support Europe! (Eastern and Western Europe)

Independant of version. All maps are stored on Google's server.

Audio voice also difficult to hear and understand with background noise (V8 Engine, Traffic, etc.).

Let's try and get a comprehensive list of software and maps that are compatible with the WildFire devices!
Constructive feedback with reasons and version numbers are essential!
Please provide as much detail as possible!
Thank you and have a great day!

Destinator 6 for PocketPC and
Aren't version numbers only usefull if you PIRATE an application?
Also you can just email a dev for support for the wildfire...
Why is it, that almost EVERY topic I read, rather than people being constructive and offering users' their feedback - instead, I see people suggesting that a topic is focused on piracy??
You do realise there are websites like Google, don't you?
Look at the topic! How on earth can this be piracy?
The reason for a topic with accurate and relevant information such as versions:
e.g. v10.1 may support HTC Desire, and not the HTC Wildfire. v10.5 may support both, but without any compatible maps for Canada, Europe and Asia! This topic is aimed at MAPS and GPS software availability.
Some software will work on the WildFire, however will have maps more than 2+ years old!
It's such a pity there are people so 'close-minded' as you... willing to waste their time, submiting responses like that!
Alright kiddo, Here's an application for you CoPilot EU Version.
God knows what version it is, its the latest from the market.
Pretty uptodate for Belgium.
But personally I am still waiting for TomTom to come.
I have a feeling it will be here in a while.
Oh and map version, I have no clue it automatically downloads them from their server onto your SD card.
Sygic GPS works fine. Small installation file, but useful. Maps is small, but all just looks fine. But google map's coverage is larger than Sygic. Google map can find the location that sygic cant find. Just install both of them and u can go anywhere.
i have Copilot Live Pro 8.2.0.218 and navigon 2.6.1, good soft. i used cygic9, but didnt work on my wildfire and ndrive crash at beginning.
google map still the best, almost 99.99% coverage compare to all of the gps.
LOL :B
Thank you for your feedback!
From what I knew about Google Maps:
- it only works in the U.S.A.!
- it requires a data connection,
- the average device has a minimum of 8gb! Maps are less than 500mb, is it not faster and easier to have local maps, rather than require a data connection (especially if in an area of bad coverage),
- covers a minority of the worlds population.
- slow on updates and zoom, and incredibly slow street view (if available),
- and so on....
I may be wrong, but it doesn't offer many features outside of the USA/Canada...
http://www.google.com/mobile/navigation/
Scroll to bottom and select your country....
Google Maps works fine in the UK, but I find the robot voice difficult to hear over the thundering of my Ford diesel engine.
Sygic works well with 2.1 but not so well on 2.2, there are LOTS of crashes
I tried Copilot but did not like the interface, looks like it has been designed by ToysRUS or the Early Learning Centre
Navigation
CoPilot Live 8.2 Works absolutely fine for me, updates speed cameras and is quite a reasonable interface.
Navigon is ok but very quiet on stock roms although it is louder using the wildpuzzle
IGO8 is a bit difficult to install because you must change the screen resolution on wildfire. there is a small installation hack for this but screen is still not very good.
Google Maps is pretty good, but uses a lot of your data plan each time and would be prohibitively expensive outside uk.
Be aware, from my research it appears that copilot is the only one that is ok outside uk, others you have to change maps etc.
Hope this helps
Regards
Wow! Fantastic feedback people!
Thank you for spending the time helping others!
Updating topic with users feedback!
Thanks!
Papago X5
I'm using Papago X5 for Malaysian maps. I used to use Sygic but upon moving on to froyo, sygic kept crashing. Papago's maps seems to be more extensive than that of Sygics and is quite accurate. However, it does not have as many features as Sygic.

You say GPS quite accurate on Froyo. What is your Froyo custom rom do you use on Wildfire? I ask you cause in any custom rom that I use the GPS do not accurate on Google Map App.
Thank you and sorry for my English.
I use GPS a lot in my job and CoPilot 8 has yet to fail me on finding an obscure address in the middle of the dark swedish forests. A few speed limits and recent constructions are not up to date, but apart from that It's very nice.
Google Navigation doesn't work in Sweden, but using the modded version I've tried it out. It crashed a lot and didn't have speed camera info, but it had a somewhat nicer interface and the calculated travel times were more accurate. Searching for a destination is simpler too.
Have been using Sygic both on WM phone and now Android (2.1). Using with WM the program was very stable and good enough to navigate both for private and business purposes.
On Android the screen resolution is less good but acceptable......the big annoyance is that the program looses gps connection during a few seconds up to more than 15 minutes and than comes back......a restart does not help. Suppose people refer to this when they talk about crashing. I use Sygic mobile maps 10, version 8.14
TomTom did not have any crashes on WM so anxiously waiting till it comes available for Android. TomTom seems to be working on an Android version.
I use Sygic mobile maps 10 on Cyanogenmod Stable and works fine.
Sorry for the bump.
But I just contacted Sygic support asking for Wildfire compatibility and they informed me that it is NOT compatible.
How come you guys are stating that it works?
Thanks
I'm evaluating whether I'd go for the Wildfire or the € 200 more expensive Desire. I bought the HTC Touch Cruise 3 years ago for € 540 and was utterly disappointed that I got little value for my money. That's why I need to know whether Sygic runs decently on Wildfire or not... If you could post youtube video, that would be great

I have used both Touch Cruise 1 and 2 with Sygic and got good performance (stability and navigation function) although I liked TomTom better, but that can be ofcourse a matter of personal preference.
On Wildfire I tried Sygic 8.14, 8.16 and 8.06 and all of them had their problems.........ranging from crashing, not able to get GPS started and in case of 8.16 I could not even activate maps.......I am a bit dissapointed in Sygic since on their site there is no reference as to not working with Wildfire. Note I am using stock Froyo Rom.
Searching now for alternative......
Copilot live 8
Yesterday installed Copilot Live 8. Was an easy process. Maps can be downloaded via WiFi.
Due to some reason I could not download the complete Europe map but only do this in pieces. Navigation across boarders therefor not possible.....you even have to close the programm to switch maps.
Apart from that it has not crashed, although I made only 2 rides up till now.
Screen resolution is much better than Sygic. And the buttons are bigger which makes it easier to navigate menu's compared to sygic. Just like TomTom (and Sygic) a lot of settings possible. Even on-line updates possible.
Will report back when I gathered more experience.
navdroyd works fine for me ,
has support for maps all over the world
its a offline gps software ,
has voice guidance

The Bing for Mobile Browse Experience Gets Even Worse

Microsoft’s Bing team announced some significant changes and updates to Bing For Mobile. The core changes include better HTML5 support, better and faster image search, real-time transit and directions, iPhone app search, improvements to shopping, weather and movie search results.
The new interfaces and features currently work on all smartphone browsers that support HTML5, so that includes iPhone and Android devices but currently excludes Microsoft’s own Windows Phone 7 (until they add HTML5 support later this year) and Windows Mobile 6.5.

I'd argue that it's probably better on The iPhone and Android HTML5 supporting devices

We need an Android technologist/hacker to help with a project in the DC/MD/VA area.

We have an immediate need for an Android Technologist / Hacker. This project will take around 100-120 hours and there will be future projects available if the person is interested. All work can be done from home (100% remote) but the person does need to be within 100 miles of DC so we can hand off the devices.
Our company creates digital marketing experiences for national brands at sporting and entertainment events, retails stores, conventions etc. We recently completed a large project for the Super Bowl and we also have exhibits at the Final Four and many other large events.
The first large project will be to make a 360 degree photo booth using android cameras. We want to be able to press a button and have all the cameras take a picture at the same time. We need this person to hack the android devices so that they can trigger their cameras in real time and then save the images locally so the client can pull them off the devices.
Requirements/Skills of the Android Technologist / Hacker:
• Strong experience rooting, networking and streamlining android devices.
• Basic android app development skills (functionality, not front-end development).
• Ability to work independently (100% remote).
• Ability to tackle the project described above.
