Band Switching tool 900/1900.800/1900 etc - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Can the band switching tool inn the new rom be downloaded separately ?

No, because we haven't yet figured how to talk to the modem. Neither have 'they', probably, or we would have wmodem already....

Hey Guys,
Im very new to the whole "Tablet World", I actually just purchased a T-Mobile Springboard via Ebay.
I have not yet recieved the tablet as it should arrive sometime this week, but I have been doing some research so that when it gets
here im not totally in the dark.
It is the 7"model and I believe it currently has HoneyComb installed on it, I would also assume it is locked under the Tmobile Network.
Since I live in Canada I would have to get it unlocked to be able to use it.
OK so here are all my questions...
Where can I get it unlocked, or could I do this myself somehow with software.
I want to install the most recent version of ICS ( I think its 4.0.3), would that require that I root my device?
If so can anyone send me the link to the download and instructions.
Does rooting the device cause any ill side effects? You know with the good comes some bad..lol
I was reading some people were having issues with certain things after the root.
I would love to be able to Text, make phone calls as well as browse..
is this all possible, if so how?
Thanks you guys are the smartest..

OK unlocking. First you will need your new sim. Then pop in the sim and it should bring up the sim unlock menu (it varies between 3.2 and ICS). Then load up tmobiles chat on the web site and ask to unlock the unit. They will unlock the unit as long as its paid off.
For ICS you can down load it directly from H unrooted:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...thod=gotoProductSupport&productId=3779&tb=0);
FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel)
You can download rooted roms here. they are 99% untouched, im running the OsiMood which just has some stock apps removed, and the charging icon is text instead of a battery.
You shouldnt have any issues with a rooted rom. The only issues are with the cm9,AOKP and the ones with custom kernels.
You can text, talk, data on ICS only, and only if you are not on tmobile. You would have to be on att straitTalk or any other carrier. Tmobile is the only carrier thats says no no to all 3 on a tablet, at least in the usa. Tmobile gives you a choice of text/voice, or data only.
Thanks
Thanks a lot man.. I really appreciate any help I can get, and for you guys to take time out of your day to help someone out is great.
Ok so..it still didnt arrive..(getting impatiant) lol I guess its gotta go through Customs..
hmm.. ok so your saying I can download ICS directly from Huawei, will that work fine since its actually a Springboard and not a MediaPad.
Whats the difference between ICS and ICS rooted? Do I need to root, benifits?Which would be best and why?
If I need to root where are the links for the newest ICS rooted on XDA?
I wouldnt be with Tmobile, since there isnt any in Canada..
I already bought a SIM from Petro Canada Mobility
I was told It was best for cheap plans with unlimited Browsing, the only thing was that for data only applications that run through port 80 would work. The trick was to get a proxy app through Google Play and run all your shiat though port 80.
Makes sense?
Thanks!!
Ya I sent the link to the oem vesion. Tmobile puts their own rom on it and calls it a springboard.
Root gives apps more acess such as backups, or changing ui features.
The 2 latest roms are hwmod and osimood. They are about the same.
Cant help you with the proxy things

I went to the HUAWEI site and why would I go with HUAWEI MediaPad FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel) ?
isnt there even newer ones?
there are like 5 above that one, like HUAWEI MediaPad FIRMWARE(S7-302u,Android4.0,C232B001,General Channel)
whats the difference
and how do i install it
You might want to wait a few days to see if T-Mobile makes good on their promise to push out ICS in an OTA update to the Springboard. You will be able to receive the update over wi-fi no matter which carrier you are running it on. It would save you some hassle in flashing international ROMs. Also I can vouch for the fact that the international ICS ROMs have some radio stability problems on the Springboard hardware - connections may freeze unexpectedly.
In terms of carrier compatibility in Canada:
- In theory the Springboard *should* work on Videotron, Wind and Mobilicity because it has the AWS HSPA band. Mine doesn't and I don't know why. It just won't connect with a WIND or Mobi SIM (haven't tested Videotron). It might be because I flashed an international ROM with a different radio.
- The Springboard has 1900 MHz HSPA but not 850. If you are going to use it on the Rogers network (which includes Rogers, Fido, SpeakOut and all their MVNOs), you will get a 3G/H signal in urban areas where 1900 MHz is used. In many locations though, their 3G service may be only on the 850 MHz band (which the Springboard can't access), in which case it will drop down to EDGE.
- If you try and use it on Bell, Telus or their sub-brands, you will get 3G/HSPA in urban areas, but in locales where the service is only on 850 MHz, you will get no signal at all. Bell/Telus has 3G/HSPA and LTE but no 2G/EDGE, so if you can't pick up the signal, it just drops.
S7-301u,S7-302u,S7-303u are the radio bands not firmware versions. 303u is the t mobile band, most people use the 301u. Just because firmwares came after it doesnt mean they are newer. 2 of the newer ones are just fixes for german and russian versions.
Wait for the offical tmobile version in the next few weeks, or download the version i told you.
To flash is easy:
unzip the file onto the root of your sd card
reboot the spring board
it will run the update, then tell you to remove the sd card
remove sd card
reboot system
either plug the sd card back into the spring board and remove the zip folder, or pop the sd card in a flash card reader and removed the zip folder with a pc
If you reboot the springboard again without removing the zip folder, it will reinstall again.
I just received mine today and want to try ICS. If I flash this FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel) will I be still able to receive the official t-mobile version via OTA? How do I backup the stock rom?
Cant backup the original rom. Cant get the OTA if you flash the factory(non tmobile) ICS rom.
Sorry thats how it rolls. If we are slightly lucky someone will grab the OTA for us flashers and we will be set. Or H will release a 303 firmware to work with all the tmobile channels.

Thanks for the heads up. If I gone ahead and flash FIRMWARE(S7-301u,Android4.0,C232B005,General_Channel) will I still be able to use 4G/3G for tmobile? I understand that I can also use gsm voice/text with this firmware is that correct?
voice/text/data has to do with the carrier. att lets you do it, tmobile wont, its not about the firmware.
In your area you will either flash the 301 or the 302 firmware. They are the same other than what band they run in. They havent comes out with a 303 factory firmware yet.

Ok.. Well I have had the device a couple days now and just been fooling around with it.
Now I would like to get this all in motion.
My question is, If I go with ICS from HUAWEI website, can I still root the device? and do I do that after or before.
and how?
I think I need to root it to run a Proxy program to run everything through port 80, which is what Petro Canada Mobility(Rogers) leaves open on Unlimited Browsing Plan.
Also in the instruction, you said put it in the "root" , what you mean by root, and thats on the micro sd right?

Go to the huawei mediapad root thread on the development section, go to the link in the post number 28 (to modaco). You root it after updating the pad.

This Is starting to really bother me.. I tried like 4 sources and everyone boots and then stops durring update and says FAIL.
WTF?
I have failed once when trying to install a new firmware which turns out to be corrupted download (the firmware was one of those pre-rooted firmware). I also read someone failed many times and turns out the problem is in their sd card. If you have a spare sd card, you probably can try putting the firmware there or if you don't mind formatting your current card then you can also try that.

Ok so here is the update.
I got 301u ICS General up and running, just curious on why I installed 301u over 302u. Which is better for my region (Montreal , QC) would be on Rogers network?
Because I have been having issues getting connected to network, wondering if I maybe installed wrong firmware.
Anyway, next step is to root.
1) Download Huawei MediaPad ROOT ICS Android 4.0.x.rar
2) Connect the tablet to your PC, install the driver.
3) In the settings of the tablet enable debugging by USB .
4) Unpack the archive.
5) Run the Install Root.cmd wait three reboots.
Ok, I downloaded the file to my Laptop, Im just confused on step 4 and 5 so I have stopped until I find out more informaion because I do not want do to it wrong.
"Unpack the Archive"? could someone maybe expand on this limited explanation. Do I extract the file to desktop or directly onto the tablet and same with running Root.cmd where do I run it from?
can someone please maybe explain the steps better then they were, I ve seen better instructions written on a carton of milk on how to open it, then this.

I don't know about the better firmware, but since I'm using 301u pad with 301u firmware I haven't got any problem.
As for rooting.. Step 4 is extracting the file in your pc/desktop. Step 5 is running the install root.cmd while the pad connected to the pc.
please help me.
I have downloaded the firmware 4.0 general version then when I instal it but fail then i waitd for a second i dnt pull out the sdcrd then suddenly got battery low?when i bootd the phne it goes the message les than 30% it stucks there do i have to install the 3.2 again? [Q] Lenovo P780, China, 4GB, problems with ROMs: 4.2.X - camera, 4.4.X - network

Good day to everyone reading this
I spend long time reading this forum before posting, tried a number of ROM, modem updates, but it seems that I cannot make 100% work my Lenovo without your help.
I have brand new Lenovo P780 with problems after flashing ROMs. On battery there are Chineese letters, so I assume I have China version, 4GB.
I've tried around 10 different ROMs. Stock versions, custom ones from getrom webpage, in desparation I tried some russian with the same result.
When I flash to 4.2.X android phone works just fine, I can make calls, GPS works. But I cannot use my camera. Supercamera app stops, flash also is not working. On some ROM I was able to use frontcam, still flash and backcam were not working. Installing different camera apps is not helping.
When I flash to 4.4.X android camera works great, but I don't have network coverage (in most of the ROM ver.). On some of the ROMs in 4.4.X ver. after the reboot SIM cards are active, but after making 2-3 calls they don't have coverage. After next reboot result is the same. Interestingly network are crashing after I use second SIM, if I use only SIM 1 (the one with Internet) coverage works for longer time. After the network crash I cannot use Internet or make calls from any of the SIM until next reboot. There are some frequency issues in Europe, I will be using it in Poland, but I don't get how the phone can work normally on 4.2.X and on 4.4.X frequencies don't match?
I've spend most of my efforts updating (flashing) new ROMs and checking if network problems will be fixed on 4.4.X. When that didn't help I was applying different radios/modems through recovery tools TWRP and CWM but none of the radios I've tried worked (and I tried lots of them). Strangely I discovered that even when I get to install new modem (I got confirmation that all is OK in recovery, install from zip file) broadband version in system information is not changing.
What I will need fro you guys (or girls ) is to advise on the ROM on which I can both make calls and photos from back camera. I really don't care what version of Android will it be, as long as it will work as a phone...
Other solution would be how to update camera firmware on 4.2.X or how to properly update modem on 4.4.X (and what version).
I went already through all the stages of the device - soft brick, hard brick, hard brick not recognized by the PC, so I', not afraid of trying something new.
One thing that may be not 100% clear for me is different versions of the phone, I needed to switch to 2014 bootloader in order to flash some of the ROMs, maybe that's why ROMs were not working for me.
Thank you in advance for any hints!

Hi Stympy,
I saw your post already and tried some of the modems that you uploaded there, surely not all tho..
Before going blindly into the dark let me clarify couple of things:
1) I have China version of my p780 if I have Chinese letters on my battery, yes?
2) I should use China modem or Europa modem for China version of p780 that is to be used in Europe?
3) When I update new modem should the "Baseband Version" change? (in System Settings ↦ Software Information ↦ About Phone at section Baseband Version )
4) If the "Baseband Version" didn't change does it mean that modem was not updated? I'm asking because I got confirmations that zip file were processed normally, but Baseband Version didn't change. Phone also didn't have range afterwards.

1. Lets be clear for the beginning! ALL this phones are made in china!
2. You could install any modem you wish! It depends on your GSM provider. It is true that this modem software is modifyng baseband on your phone! You could see that with MobileUncle Tool if your phone is rooted!
3. Yes.
4. No. The modem software is not installed properly. You probably installed the wrong version of android modem software. Example: JellyBean modem over KitKat firmware.

Hey!
I've managed to force my phone to make calls! I couldn't change my modem due to wrong recovery.
I couldn't change modem before. The problem was with my recovery. When I swapped to recovery_cwm_kk_mod_P780 modem was changed and my phone started to ring, I used kitkat modem europa V52.
Thanks for great work on the forum! Issue is solved so quickly that I'm really amazed!

Sooo... You dont have any custom trecovery installed.
Go to my post Rooting tutorial for KitKat, read the tutorial, download recovery for Baralajbi firmware and install custom recovery.
Or install MobileUncle Tool, give app root rights download the recovery from my post unzip, put it on the root internal partition, , start MobileUncle Tool, go to recovery option and install the first recovery that appears there.
Good luck.

thanx stympy.
my mobile had bicked again today. so this time i flashed it with the original 4.2 version. ie P780_ROW_S123_131231_rooted_twrp_gapps by baralajbi
now 2g is also available.
in this i checked the band mode. here in UTMS mode WCDMA-IMT-2000 and WCDMA-GSM-900 both are enabled. so i guess there lies the catch.
if it bricks once more then i will try out ur recommendation also and thanx for educating me

Doea anyone have a flashable EE UK Rom?

As title. Want to go back to stock and have the wifi calling from ee back on my device.
try this site
http://lg-firmware-rom.com
all it needs is the phone IMEI
maybe it can help
http://lg-firmwares.com/lg-h850-firmwares/
Ive managed to flash my unlocked open G5. Now Ive got wifi calling available. You may need to extract dll from rom to flash it via LG UP. Firmware hasnt got refurbish option. Update only.

SM-G965N flashed to SM-G965F/DS, but now...

Using TWRP, the service tech guy at a shopping mall near my place changed my phone (on one UI, pie) from KT variant to global firmware. Now, there is no OTA menu and i cannot connect to my 5.8GHz wifi router. While the 1st SIM IMEI showing OK, the 2nd SIM IMEI is showing all 0 values. Now what i'm wondering about-
1. can i download the official firmware for F variant and using ODIN can i reflash it to bone stock?
2. will i get OTA then?
3. all in all, what i want to know- is it possible to complete convert a 965N to 965F ( i don't need dual sim feature actually)

if its running a F based firmware right now, then you should be able to flash the factory F firmware on it with a computer at home. no need for a dude in a shop. anyways, the no update thing is likely caused by a flash that wasnt 100% successful.
go get the firmware for whatever country youre using the phone in from here https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s9-plus/firmware/SM-G965F/ and flash it with the CSC not the HOME_CSC so that itll factory reset and likely fix the issue
i have tried that but something, somehow it didn't work. By the way, do you know if S9+ is able to connect to 5.8Ghz wifi signal? I only see 2.4Ghz signals.
I heard that using any custom rom won't allow you to see the OTA update menu.
when i tried ODIN, as you have mentioned, i saw re-partition fail error, connection delay timeouts etc. I am in Bangladesh and i had downloaded the latest global 965F file for Bangladesh using sammobile. It didn't work.
Hi,
Can my Samsung G965N support G965F Firmware?
Thanks for helping.

CSC Selector update S8 Exynos to US ATT VoLTE and Wifi Calling

Of all the dozens of pages on the CSC Selector tool page, I never saw a description of the step after installing the zip, so for others like me nervous about trying it:
After swiping across in TWRP to install the CSC selector Zip, it runs in TWRP, and provides you a menu of all of the available CSC's to install.
Question: is anyone else getting "IMS Service keeps stopping" after changing the CSC?
On my International unlocked G950F I flashed the ATT CSC, and got VoLTE working. The G950F is running Android 9, and I know the tool is technically for Android 8.
Problems:
1. Wifi Calling is not working (have tried to re-provision with AT&T). It doesn't appear in the menu's anywhere, and using hidden shortcut maker I can't get it to finish installing.
2. More importantly, I'm getting force closures of IMS Service every few minutes.
3. Unrelated to the selector tool, mounting /Data has always failed for me in TWRP on this phone, and for that reason, the EFS backup script failed. I don't want to highjack my own thread, but let me know if there is a way to restore my CSC via TWRP or Odin from a TWRP backup. I've only restored CSC via Odin from a Nandroid backup, and I'm clueless as to how to make a TWRP backup into a Nandroid, or otherwise restore CSC from it.
The priority is figuring out if the IMS service error is caused by the CSC selector tool, before I use it on my daily driver g950F (this was done on my extra one). My daily driver is Android 8, if that helps.
Alright friends, this site ain't what she used to be,
So i ended up investing most of my weekend in this. (Still grateful for xda, since the days of the actual xda pda)
Update: I applied the CSC flash to my daily driver S8 g950F running android 8, and it worked for volte with no calling att necessary. Wifi calling looks impossible, so i'm not going to mess with it. Ims problem didn't present itself and may have been a function of android 9.
I'd be curious if anyone got numbersync working with a samsung galaxy watch, now that we can have hd voice on the exynos s8.

Thank you for updating us about this. It's helped me become convinced that Pie on SM-N950F/DS will never be able to use an AT&T CSC, which then also probably means any Pie ROMs on SM-N950F won't survive the retiring of AT&T's 3G service in Feb 2022.

Download the CSC from sammobile for the g950u1 , and flash only the csc so you get volte enabled , the chance to get wifi calling are close to 0 but atleast you can try , that tool is maked for Android 8 will not work on 9 because it have the CSC from 8 , and for the backup it try to mount a partition that doesn't exist so will fail to make a backup , there are some difference on partition from 8 to 9 , WIFI calling will not work only by changing csc , the wifi calling is incapsulated in firmware so you need to change all the firmware and that is not possible because you don't have the US version of the phone ...... The IMS service error is from the wrong CSC instaled , IMS is used for Volte and Wifi calling , but it get that error because the csc is for another version of android or it is the wrong firmware .

I found a solution to get VoLTE working, using the latest version v31 of the excellent DeluxeROM at:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...e4-pie-aroma-romcontrol-kernel-final.3784712/
I use the "BTU" CSC, selectable during the Aroma installation. It can also be changed without resetting your data, by reinstalling the ROM again.
I tried about 30 things to get Wi-Fi calling working, but never could. I think klaus1221 might be correct about it being burned into the official AT&T code for the US phones, but there are also many people who claim they've got Wi-Fi calling working on Exynos variants. I particularly found claims in the AT&T forums that AT&T keeps an IMEI list of its branded phones, and de-provisions any not matching this list.
