if you want to backup/restore on the same os (2002 to 2002 or 2003 to 2003) try Sunnysoft backup manager (google it
The BIG problem is if you want to backup/restore on different os!(2002 to 2003) because they have different databases!

[Q] PC Suite IV SMS backup

Dear All!
I copied all of my SMS to the PC via PC Suite IV. I installed 2.3.3 v20g rom, and I cannot copy my SMS's back to the phone. In PC Suite there is a red cross, while i try drag and drop the messages. (There is only PHONE -> PC copy possibility )What is the problem? Has anybody ideas how can I restore my messages?
Thanks for your help!
Downgrade to stock FW...
Next time use something actually useful for backup, not this LG junk.
Aham....with the original ROM the messages are copyable?

Are you using the rooted version of V20G?
No, the original romanian v20g with the latest PC Suite 4.

I haven't been using PC Suite myself much. Is there an option to export the messages from PC Suite to an XML file or similar? If there is, there are apps in the Market that may let you restore them to the phone.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Thanks for your helps!
DigitalAnalog: what is the name of the app?
I can save messages CSV in format.

You can try SMS Backup & Restore. But again, this is presupposes that you can get PC Suite to cough out your messages in a suitable format, in this case XML.
You can try this app if PC Suite only exports to CSV: Anything to SMS. Let us know if it works.

well, if you'd prefer to use the stock app for messaging, you can try SMS Backup and Restore from the Android Market [Link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.riteshsahu.SMSBackupRestore]
It has a backup scheduler feature, and you send backups via email. MMS backups are not yet supported though.
Chinese original rom support this function

Hi! I know that you are asking for stock mail app but, why don't you give K9-mail a try?

Thanks for the suggestion but K9 Mail Does not work with MS Exchange account, also there is no option to disable the Pin code request.
So K9 Mail is useless for me

for MS exchange, try Touchdown. it is good with the usual slew of bells and whistle for a typical push mail app. I disabled my push as i prefer manual syncs.
Thanks for the proosal, but I tried the different applications, and the one that work for me is Stock mail.
Does anyone have the standard Email.apk and Email.odex that came with the phone? Titanium Backup messed up mine.
http://db.tt/krKnqut
done and done.
Thanks happily for your help.
I replaced both files, with the appropriate permission, on my phone and rebooted but still I can't recover my mail
Any idea on how to recover my stock mail?

only ones i know are:
titanium backup
app2zip
app2sd
manual+file explore> flashable zip
Or perhaps another option is SMS backup+ which backups to gmail ? It will create a new label called SMS and back up each one separately .
