Flashing ROM Image to MMC Card - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

Trying to restore a failed PPC2003 upgrade. I found another T-Mobile PPC Phone to download the ROM image to my MMC card. Question is, how do I boot off this MMC card to restore the ROM Image to my sickly PPC Phone?

Once you've backup up using bootloader mode on the other unit, simply insert the card in the sick phone, and start the unit in bootloader mode.

Have you been reading the development thread?
yes, but they do not say which images they use to get back this functionality, they have just stated they used sbf then an image. My question is i have an unlocked phone, should i got back through the whole process of unlocking and rooting again to regain control of the phone, or what exact steps are needed, i have already tried to edit the files in /etc/ to point to the external card but to no avail.
Thanks

You won't be able to, as stated in the OP, there's a seperate option in Storage settings within the ROM because you can only read from either internal or external SD, one at a time. So that means you have to put any items you want to flash on the internal SD card to flash them with CWM. It won't read the external SD card in recovery mode.
I have, all my backups and rom images are located on the sdcard
==> backups
/sdcard/clockworkmod/backup
==> Roms
/sdcard/roms
When i try to restore the backups, i get the boot loop and the same for the roms, or some roms wont load at all. my main rom has been homebase, and it just hangs or it fails with error about sd-ext when in recovery. this is what i am trying to figure out, is how to get back to that point before the pure aosp install, do i start from scratch or is there another way.
Download the recovery image from romracer's thread and flashboot it via pc/cmd. You still can put the phone into fastboot mode.

I have a flashable cwm version of romracers recovery on my int sd card.GForgot where I got it from but I copied it to my ext sd so if I ever get stuck I can cwm a good recovery.
thanks i am going to try that now, as now when i try to boot phone, i get the android screen, then it just dies nothing, so i will do the recovery image.
Thanks

I wiped my internal sd card.. My galaxy s2 won't boot anymore

I made a grave mistake today, I wiped everything in my internal sd card. Now it won't boot anymore. It is just booting from the galaxy s2 logo. I followed the guide in the the wiki of cyanogenmod
The part where i made a mistake is in the "Place the CyanogenMod update.zip file on the root of the SD card." I thought that the root of the sd card is in my external microsd card. So I proceeded and put the update.zip in the microsd card.. Then I did Wipe data/factory reset and Wipe cache partition. After that I tried to find the update.zip but can't find it anywhere.
So I rebooted my galaxy s2, then bang it won't start anymore. It just loops in the galaxy s2 logo part.
So I searched google and found out that I wiped everything in my internal sd card including the stock galaxy s2 software. i made the biggest mistake of the year.
I mistakenly put the cm9 in my external sd card.. The clockwork mod can't read the external sd card. So now i'm stock with a brick galaxy s2
Please help me. I just started this rooting thing and now my galaxy s2 is bricked.
I know the odin application can help me flash a new rom. But i don't know where to proceed. What rom should I download?
If i can install a custom rom using odin i know this can help me fix my problem.
Please guide me. im begging all of you.
Can you still put your phone in download mode? if you can, then you can probably install stock rom.after that you can root your phone again. have you tried intratech's thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113928
Sounds to me like you didn't flash a proper kernel. You'll get stuck at the boot logo if that happens.

yes. i think thats what happened. please help me fix this.
I would advise you use odin to flash a stock rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278 use this to download a stock rom / root it. Then you can flash any rom after that!
I deleted my internal on purpose
You say Clockwork Mod can't recognise your External SD card, so i presume you can get into recovery?. if you're running a custom recovery like Clockwork and you can get in to recovery you'll be ok.
Dl a custom rom (checkrom) or kernel which supports external sd card, (like siyah or something) Connect your phone to your pc, and boot into recovery. Go to storage options in recovery and mount your phone. Your internal memory should be available to view in your pc. Copy across the file(s) you downloaded and Install the zip. The custom rom will bring you back to speed, or the custom kernel will allow you to flash whatever you had on your External SD to begin with. I recommend the rom flash though.
There should be plenty of help regarding Odin in the forums. Let us know how you get on.

If you wiped internal sd card you need to remove and replace battery enter download mode and flash a stock rom via ODIN .As you have wiped the entire OS so phone cannot boot to something that no longer exists .
Any stock rom will recover your phone logic says use one for your location .

i fixed it!!! thank you for your help!! hahaha im so happy. thank you very much kind sir
Happy to help, and good to hear it worked out
This is how you learn about custom roms, i think its good to get a bootloop etc. because it forces you to try troubleshoot and increases your knowledge.
and also if you can get into CWM recovery then thats generally a good sign and things can be recovered from there.
glad everything worked for you.

HTC Wont Read Internal SD

So yesterday i was using my phone and it randomly froze, then crashed and restarted and went into a bootloop.
So with my bootloader unlocked i attempt to do a factory reset, it brings me back to the bootloader, so i try to check the mount section and it tells me it can't mount internal/sd_card. So i assume that was the problem.
So for the entire day i've been trying to fix it, i relocked the bootloader and put an OTA_ruby on my external sd and ran that in fastboot, and it goes through the whole process then brings me back to the bootloader screen as if nothing it different. Rebooted, and it's still looping.
At the very least i'd like to remove the ***relocked*** on the bootloader screen so i can send it back in and get it replaced since i suspect this to be a hardware defect, but that's just my guess at least. I also attempted flashing with Hasoons tool when my bootloader was unlocked.
Please help, anyone have any ideas?

you need to relock your bootloader to flash the stock RUU you cannot do it while your bootloader is unlocked...if you can get to recovery you can just try to do a full wipe and then flash another rom
I did fastboot when my bootloader was locked, with the stock ruu and it just finishes and brings me back to the main menu of bootloader, where i reboot the device and it continues to bootloop.
I also turned my device into mass usb storage, formatted from my pc, and flashed 4ext to no prevail whatsoever. I feel like everything i do is so hopeless.
After formatting from the pc, i was able to mount the internal storage but i still cant get it to hard factory reset without it not reading the internal sd.

flashing the RUU has nothing to do with "fastboot", if your recovery isn't reading your internal sd properly.. check your partition alignment or just use 4ext to "repartition" the whole phone... okay here's what to do..
boot into 4ext recovery...
wipe all partitions (except sd card)
then format the Internal SD card.. then the External SD card
check for the partition alignments (in the tools section)
delete all partitions and re-partition the phone.. when it ask you for the size just select "SKIP"
once that's done reboot the recovery from within recovery (DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR PHONE AND ATTEMPT TO BOOT INTO RECOVERY)
once the phone's back in recovery again mount the phone via USB toggle..
place the ruu that you renamed to PH85IMG on your SD card not in any folders it has to be on the ROOT of the SD Card
next you need to shut down the phone and then remove your battery and then boot your phone back into fastboot..
the phone should then recognize the PH85IMG.zip file on your sd card and prompt you to install the "update" which is the stock ROM
this is the ICS Stock RUU make sure to rename it to PH85IMG before you place it on the SD card...
no luck?
Okay, i booted into recovery, wiped the partitions ( except sd card ), then i formatted both the internal and external cards, and wrote the new partitions by skipping through to the end. Then rebooted the phone into recovery from the 4ext menu, i placed PH85IMG.zip on my external sd card via usb toggle, shut the phone down took the battery out and it read the image but after the blue bar filled up it brought me back into the bootloader menu again, it never mentioned a "update" also i thought you could only use the stock ruu if your bootloader was locked?
My phone did that, I was able to format the internal sd on my pc, then formatted again in 4ext. I had a Rom, nandroid backup, and superwipe script on my ext-sd. So I ran superwipe, flashed the Rom I had been using (Energy-stock look) and then restored data from the backup, and then everything was well.

yes, i was assuming that you already relocked your bootloader for flashing back to stock.. and while flashing back to stock the PH85IMG zip on the sd card is usually read as an "update" i think when installing if i remember correctly

my bootloader is still locked, i can still get into hard factory reset menu is that what you mean?
no i don't mean do a factory reset from the bootloader that doesn't really work well unless your phone is on stock.. and if you can get to recovery you might need to place your sd card in the phone and re-partition the whole file system from 4ext recovery.. because it sounds to me like your system files and file structure got corrupted somehow

Well i followed your steps from before, but my bootloader has to be unlocked to get into 4ext recovery to repartition and such. Should i follow all those steps, then relock and use the SD card to flash the stock ruu?

This might be a silly question or may be I'm not very familiar with "stock RUU" but I just renamed the Tmous rom as PH85IMG and flashed running Juopunutbear Hboot and it did flash, and it said "relocked" afterward.
Actually I wasn't able to lock the bootloader before flashing RUU with the AIO kit.
Am I doing it wrong?

No luck with using the internal storage as a method to flash.
I'd like to mention i am not S-off, i only unlocked my bootloader.
Just so we're on the same page for the repartitioning , this is what i did:
Unlocked bootloader - try to get into recovery, then i followed these steps
boot into 4ext recovery...
wipe all partitions (except sd card)
then format the Internal SD card.. then the External SD card
check for the partition alignments (in the tools section)
delete all partitions and re-partition the phone.. when it ask you for the size just select "SKIP"

place the ruu that you renamed to PH85IMG on your SD card not in any folders it has to be on the ROOT of the SD Card
next you need to shut down the phone and then remove your battery and then boot your phone back into fastboot..
"with sd card removed" relocked bootloader
pulled my battery and got back into fastboot with the sd card in my phone this time " renamed it PH85IMG.zip"
and no luck... did i do something wrong?

[Q] Hard Brick i5s

Long story short i tried to partition sd card to increase internal memory. I knew i might screw up, so did a Nandroid back up as well.
So as predicted after the partition my phone went into a boot loop, so i went into recovery mode but clearing caches did not help (android system recovery 3e).
So Tried to flash the stock rom (update firmware). I have no idea what went wrong but SP flash tool showed everything was fine and the whole process was complete with a green tick pop up as well.
So after that the phone did not reboot/start/.. :crying:
Im pretty sure its hard bricked. But everytime i plug the USB to my phone i hear the windows notification sound??
Can anyone please help?? I bought this online and sending it back is not an option.
PS: The phone has a light adapter (like iphone 5s), SD card cannot be removed, Battery cannot be removed.
I have the complete rom with me. Model MTK6572 RAM512MB. Not original goophone.

My phone is hard bricked not shoft bricked. So no response whatsoever.
So i downloaded like 6 different versions of this phone rom and found a working android scatter to flash via Sp flash tool.
Now im able to snter into the phone default recovery, but i cannot go any further as it just restarts if i press any key.
I paid a guy online to create a CWM recovery.. I flashed that onto the phone but still only the defualt recovery boot up!
Im certain that CWM recovery will enable me to access the sd card and restore my nandroid backup. but unfortunately cwm does no load up.
If i format my phone via SP flash tools will it delete my nandroid back?
If so is there a way to add the nandroid backup onto the sd card? (my sd card cannot be removed and yes i have a backup of the nandroid on my pc)
