I use SuperAlert to give me repeating alarms for calendar and task notifications. Unfortunately, it doesn't do SMS notifications, and I miss some due to just not hearing it or being away from the device. Am I the only one?
i WISH
it's the most annoying thing about this phone. you never know you missed a call unless you actually go look at it.
i want it!!
I used to miss SMS's too, but found a neat little trick (and it's free too)
Just go to settings, notifications and select Inbox:New SMS Message, then tick Flash Light and set No limit in the duratins box. (I've done the same for missed calls myself) and if the light is flashing (three times as fast as usual) I have either a missed call or a new SMS
Work great on both PocketPC 2002 and Windows Mobile 2003

The appointment notification only sounds once, whereas the alarm chime can be set to repeat until answered (dismissed). Can the appointment notification be set to repeat until answered? ....so that when I come back into the office after being outside, I will here a chime or alarm and suddenly remember the forgotten appointment?
Would make sense but NO!
I keep whining about notifications... missed calls, voice mail, and appointments. No dice.
There are some third party software pieces out there that do appointment repeat alarms, can't remember the name off hand but saw it in several places. Something fairly popular.
Nice and vague!
No dice on the phone part on repeat notifications. Which to me just seems whacky.
Don't you guys try to solve the problem before asking for it?????????????
Yes you can set the appointments alarm to repeat go to sounds and notifications, notification, choose from the drop down menu reminder and check the (repeat) checkbox.
and there is also a third party software called sbp pocket plus
Cheers
Msg to ArcticCat re. appointment notifications
My version of software does NOT appear to have an option to 'Repeat' the notification (the only options are Play Sound; Display Message; Flash Light; and Vibrate)....and yes, I did go through every menu item several times before lodging the question, and felt that I must have missed something!
My Pocket PC version is 3.0.12039....... perhaps I need to upgrade my software. What version is yours?
Thanks for the info. re. third party software....I will look into it.

You can search for "How to Enable Repeat Play Audio Sound Notifications in Windows Mobile"
and you will eventually find the solution to this repeat notifications question!
I thought this would be easy to find a GOOD app for this but it hasn't.
I'm after an app that will give reminders for notifications other than my calender and sms ones eg missed call, facebook, facebook messenger, touchdown email, etc.
At the moment I have calender snooze for my appointments which works great, and also go sms pro for messages with its inbuilt repeat reminder.
Now does anyone have one that will work for other notifications and not interfere with with my existing reminders, well I could turn go sms repeat reminders off i guess but not calender snooze.
Still Looking
Should have turned this into a battery thread about a cheap 5500mAh battery for $15. Woulda sure had replies
I can't quite work out specifically what you're after, but this seems to fit the bill.

Thankyou. Sure to give this a go.
Stupid thing is I searched a fair amount and all I found only did missed calls or text messaged etc.... Maybe I just left key words from my search and used the wrong terminology.
But this looks like it works for whatever program that has normal android notifications to be added. So can leave go sms pro out of the list and this won't duplicate the good built in repeat reminders.
So, I used to use Handcent for all my SMS, MMS messages until recently. Too many bugs on updates and it just isn't reliable. Unfortunately Handcent had some good features I can't seem to get working (or even if they are possible) on the the stock HTC app. First is custom notifications for texts. Handcent you could select a different tone for each person you sent/received messages from. Very convenient to know if my phone was in the other room if it was my wife, or just a nitwit friend. The other option is a mark letting me know the other person (if they are a VZW customer) received the message or not. You can select an option to notify you but I don't need a second notification sound telling me the other person got it. The check mark is enough, but I can't get it to work without the extra sound. When handcent was installed, I got the notification of a check mark in the stock app without the sound, but the second Handcent was deleted it no longer worked.
I'm sure there is a setting I'm missing or something. If the phone is not capable of this, is there another app anyone recommends? It really sucks that Handcent has gone downhill.

AFAIK the stock app is very limited. Have you tried gosms? they offer everything that handcent has + more.
Hey man, thanks. Go SMS is similar with all the features I'm looking for. Thanks.
I had the same problems with Hanscent. Really liked it for a long time. Finally tried a different app for SMS. Take a look at CHOMP. I think it does all the stuff you need. I like it a lot.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Here is my pseudo-complicated situation: I have a gate sensor at the front of my property that communicates wirelessly to my automation system. The system can then notify me via text or email anytime my gate sensor is tripped. I would like for my phone to simply act as a doorbell by just making a sound anytime someone drives through my gate. So far I have accomplished this but unfortunately for my organized & partially OCD brain, my phone's notification bar is overloaded with messages that I have to clear several times per day. Basically, I would like for it to make a sound but not to show any icon or notification in the pull-down notifications menu.
I have tried several SMS apps (Handcent, GO SMS Pro, Chomp, Textra and stock) and have been unable to find a way to accomplish this. The closest thing I've found is to use the "privacy inbox" on several of these apps that allows me to place any messages from the automation system into a different inbox. I'm able to give it a different sound, different icon and different (or no) LED blink color. Unfortunately, this still leaves my notifications pull-down menu riddled with alerts from my gate sensor.
I don't know if there is an Android-based work-around or if anyone can recommend a decent SMS app that would give me this option. I have tried the same thing with email but not only do I run into the same problem, but the delay in the syncing of the email defeats the purpose because the person will usually already be at my door before I hear the tone. Because of this, I would like to stick with the SMS method.
There may also be another option that is outside the box that I have yet to consider.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Ryan

I have been using an old GO SMS version up to now, being very careful not to update it since they have removed the one feature I kept it for, the inbox. I sincerely hate the threaded stuff, I have hated it since it first came in Windows Mobile, and then on the HD2 and up. Pansi was great, but didn't work anymore because updating stopped. I have no interest at all browsing a box where I see the messages I have sendt, I want it to be like a mail program, not a social media thing (I don't even have Facebook or other social media...). So is there a non-threaded/unthreaded/inbox style SMS app out there? I have spent an hour on Play to find it, but failed.
I've used about every SMS app that's out there and I don't recall this being an option. Lemme just clarify though as it seems like an odd request to me (no offense - not odd bad, just odd different). You want an SMS app that only shows their messages to you, but not yours to them? If that's so, the only half assed work around I could think of would be one that has the ability to theme all components of the message and make the out going messages blend in to the background.
So you haven't been around very long, then? That was the only way until around 2008 for smartphones, when Windows Mobile 6 came with threaded messages. Until now there's always been apps that supports it. Basically I want an SMS app that doesn't use threaded messaging, so I can go into an inbox and see the messages I have received, not the one I have sendt, yes. But blending in doesn't help, the main thing isn't the separate "conversations", it's the separate inbox where I only see the text of messages I have received, nothing else. So just like the inbox of MS Office Outlook, if that helps. Or like K9 mail for Android, if that tells you more. I just don't see why what's widely considered the efficient way to do things in mail is so different in SMS. Almost all mail programs has one inbox and one sendt box.
