Hi,
I bought a Qtek 1010 from a friend. when I restrat the system I get "test only, not for sale", and G 44.00.01 and other numbers, the system then starts and runs and looks normal.
I don't like that.. what do you think?? is there something wrong with it?
not at all, but he just installed a 'cooked' rom, wich means,
a costom rom that he built in the xda-kitchen
what does that mean??!!
can I restore the original OS??
Yes you can, the last owner only customized the rom and probably installed a PPC 2003 rom.
The original rom is PPC 2002 from your provider orange? T-mobile? etc. since PPC 2003 (XDA-Qtek) rom's are still note officially provided (just T-mobile wiwh is strarting to provide some for 30$)
As a personal view, i would keep the one you have if you fell conftarbale with it. I will never go back to PPC 2002 from my provider (Orange), i way prefer my PPC 2003 custom rom's.
You can look at http://www.yorch.net/ to cutomize your rom's.
To install the roms look in the forum, ther's already a lot of beginers post.
Cheers,
Yann
khabbab,
Go to Start/Settings/System Tab/Device Information
and let us know what ROM version you have.
I suspect it may be 4.01.00.
yann: thank you.. I will chek the site
pdhenry: the ROM version is 4.00.01.
yesterday I took the Qtek to the main agent, and one of the technicals said this device is upgraded and it should not! the version should be 3.16.?? in order to suite this country. So, he adviced me to change the device if I can, because there will be some problems!! it won't be stable!
This is not true. I downloaded the kitchen rom in WM2003 with the 'not for sale" boot screen, I'm in France with Orange, and it suits perfectly well the country and all the other european countries while travelling!

Can you confirm that the download RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe is safe to convert German version of ROM to English?
The download is at URL: http://shop.store.yahoo.com/cellpoint/tmobilemdaii.html
Any experience from those who tried that?
Thanks,
vnez
language is 100% controlled by the rom
so if you upgrade your device with a rom in a surden
language the device will be in the language of that rom

To be more exact: the rom is here @ http://xda-developers.com/incoming/rom160wwe/RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe
This ROM works without a problem on a German T-Mobile MDA II.
Don't know where you plan to buy it, but there are several German resellers who ship worldwide.
Take a look @ http://www.handit.de/index.php?fuseaction=shop&katid=64
You can mail them in English, but it can take some time before they reply.
Grtz,
Jos
Thank you very much.
I have already purchased the T-Mobile MDAII from Germany (Gigatech.de).
What I am not sure about is whether the change of ROM will cause erasing even MS Pocket PC programs (Excel, Word, ...) or whether they are part of the ROM and will be re-installed automatically.
Do you have this experience. I would really appreciate your reply.
Thanks and regs,
V. Nezval
Good price
You purchased that MDAII at a very good price.
I believe that these are at the rom, and therefore will change language (my experience),
but what is the real problem, if they erase they come back on the rom, if they don't erase they stay on the machine - win win situation

anything which is not put in ram by the user
(which is lost at rom upgrade)
is located in the rom
it's where everything is
that is everything apart from the radiostack
Forum user MikeyCollins has had his XDA2 reflashed by O2 with UK ROM version 1.66.
This is newer that any official user available O2 UK ROM, as the latest build on the UK site/for UK customers is 1.60.50
This new ROM, at very early inspection, features a ClearType tuner much like some IPAQ's have etc.
What he wants to know, and I do too, given that I would like to install it, is how do you 'reverse engineer', if at all, the ROM, so that he can copy it from his phone, to PC, so this can be tried out by others?
Can it be done? Do any of you clever chaps know how?
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/XdaUtils/pmemdump.exe
this one i would suppose does it
but if the file you end up with on your pc is really nbf i'm not sure
maybe somebody else knows

Interesting! Do you mind exctracting this cab file (Clear Type Tuner) from Ext ROM and post it here?
TIA
Hi all,
I'm a newbie here and want to upgrade my rom which is
1.60.00WWE,
radio 1.06.01,
ext rom 1.60.06,
I am using Turkcell as my gsm operator (Turkey) and my settings are for . Turkey. I downloaded a rom file in the forums named o2 1.72wwe. Is it just for the o2 users or does it support my gsm provider?
Any help would be appreciated,
dr_kaan
BTW: I bought the T-mobile XDA2 from a guy in Istanbul. He told me the original rom was German t-mobile rom. The rom i'm using now is Dutch.
you can do everything with your ROM, because you allways can recover by sd card, but never touch RADIOSTACK.
sorry... but that's nonsense...
On the XDA2 the radiostack will upgrade together with the rom and the ext-rom for all rom's higher than 1.60.
Explicatly people ruined their machine because the removed the radiostack file from the upgrade...
As usual... if you don't have problem's don't upgrade...
For me 1.60 ROM is still one of the best.
I go with that, I also have the dutch rom, and so far, it has been the most stable one, I upgraded from the german Rom.
The dutch one is a really recomandable
Thank you guys i will continue with it.
The reason i wanted to upgrade was a friend of mine told me that the new rom extended the battery life.Is that true?
One more question, will we be able to upgrade to wm2003 se?
Thanks
i think so,
i have tried my device from full capacity (100%) till 7%, i have 05.12 hours.
condition :
browsing & using excell, (no mp3, movie & game).
yes, we will, if SE come out from our provider.
After spending some time reading through the articles in this forum, I am a little bewildered. Its obviously not as simple as running a program is it??
I love and use my m1000 all day, every day and it is vital to my life.
Please please please would someone, anyone, supply step by step instructions on how to safely upgrade as I've already had to have my m1000 replaced as I tried to upgrade my rom to the MMS version as supplied by Orange.
To this day, I am unable to install the rom update to use MMS, I have asked for help from Orange and the modaco website .. and unfortunately, no luck but a pointer to this glorious forum from the modaco website.
Ta in advance ..
mrplatypus
orange comes with 2003 and the newer version is 2003SE
2000 pure is very old
read this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18287
Apologies ...
Sorry, I meant to type .. WM2003 as opposed to WM2000 and WM2003SE to WM2000SE..
WM2003 to WM2003SE wiv MMS!
In another post on this site (with me in it) the files which reside in the extended rom after the upgrade were uploaded to this forum.
This has provided me with my mms and I am very much happier.
However, I am still after really really BASIC instruction and the files to upgrade the Operating System on the phone, from WM2003 to WM2003SE (or greater?)
Much appreciated.
mrPlatypus
the post i linked to is the easiest way i think
2003SE is not official or even originally in English it's an
Chinese rom hand translated by people in this forum so i dont think we
can expect an official easy operator install for it
also you know that flashing your orange pda would void the warranty ?
voided warranty ..
Ok, I was asking to find out how difficult it would be -- my current contract with Orange officially runs out in September where I'll be upgrading my phone/pda anyway ..
Thanks for the advice and the pointers on legality.
mrPlatypus
hi, I've got the nbf fileof the os for ipaq.
is there a way to put it on my qtek2020?
not that i know off
as far as i know nobody have
transfered a rom from one device to another
it would be like trying to put the firmware of a sony erisson phone on a nokia
windows CE is custom made for the device the rom is hardcoded with the settings of the device it was ment to run on
there are italian 2003 roms for himalaya devices if you do a search
think they are called ITA
or i'm sure other italian users can help you
think they are even working on a 2003SE translated rom or maybe a 2005
Windows Mobile 2003
Hi there,
the ROM you are looking for is available for free on www.windowsmobile.it.
Just look for the QTek2020
You need to register with your IMEI, thou.
Good luck,
I know it... but my imei is not valid since my qtek comes from spain... (TSM500)...
I asked to Dangaard's and they said me that only originally italian sold pda can download software....
