How to send sms with the xda?

Hi
I have not been able to send any sms messages with my xda. I managed to receive them ok but whenever I tap on "New", the message choice doesn't come out and and I could not even compose a message. I am with vodaphone and has unlocked the phone with xda manipulator and I have checked under options that I do have the settings for sms mailbox correct.
Can anybody help please?
Thanks
Vic
Hi all,
Though nobody seemed to know the answer, I got the problem sorted out by cold booting. Somehow some important files must have been erased and now I got full functionality of the sms.
Hope this thread helped somebody.
Cheers

happens
I couldn't reply on my xda for a while.
when the name quotes come up eg {"contact a", +4471234567890}
i had to remove all the extras to just leave the bare number.
the wonderful world of XDA random problems...

is there another sms software for o2 xda???

Hello all,
I do a lot of mass mailing and the best phone for that in my experience is the Nokia 9210i.
Mainly because of three things:
1. all you need to do is scroll down through the names and highlight
2. if there is a problem the 9210i will resend automaically.
3. what is great is that, it has the capability to guess the names. it can even guess an initial or a half name.
the problem with the xda is that if you send to more then one person, under the log it shows it only sent one time. therefore if one of your friends did not receive it, it will say that there was an error when sending your sms but you don't know who. plus forwarding again and again making sure all your friend receives the info is such a pain....
i am just wondering is there another sms program out there that may be better then the original...
cheers...et

Caller ID on SMS Texting

I have just got myself a XDA unlocked and using it on T-Mobile. My question is, when i receive call from contacts in my address book it shows who is calling, but when i receive a text message from the same person, it just shows the number and not their name. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to make it show their name because I don't understand why it isn't?
Thanks
Dr :? :?
I have sorted it myself thanks!
Hi ...
if you are happy with your current ROM you can got to www.yorch.net and search for "SMS patch" at applications section, or you can cook a new ROM that has this fix already.
Thanks for that, cheers
all sorted now

That.... But have you thought about the possibility of a unknown being from another dimension (aka ghost, spirt, phantasm), trying to contact you?
You know, they're tired of hiding in the closet, under your bed and abandoned houses... They've upgraded

Incoming/Outgoing callers doesn't match phonebook

Good day!
Not sure if this has been posted before or if anyone has encountered this issue with any Android device out there. I have an Android phone called Kata i1. It's powered by a dual-core MediaTek MT6577 chipset with 1gb of RAM (ICS 4.04). Now to the issue I'm experiencing with this device. Whenever I save all my contacts phone number to the international format, the incoming/outgoing calls will not match with the phonebook. I'm located in the Philippines by the way. So the phone always receive the callers number on a non-international format (e.g. 0918 123 4567). Now if I change the phone numbers to a non-international format, I have no problem with that as it matches the phonebook. However I'll be having an issue now with SMS because all the incoming sms received will have the phone numbers formatted internationally. If I SMS one of my contacts and they reply, the reply will show on another thread which is kinda annoying.
I prefer that my contacts phone number on international format. Do you guys have any idea how to resolve this issue? Do you think replacing the stock contacts and phone apk will resolve it? Hope you could help me out. Thanks!
Seems no one is having this kind of issue.

Could someone with a dual-sim MT6577 (qHD) phone give me a copy of their contacts and phone apk? Thanks!
FIXED! see my followup message.
I have this problem too with my Galaxy Note2.
an incoming call or SMS from 01234 567890 will only match contacts in the address book (google) if the contact uses the same 01234 format.
if the contact is stored the way I prefer, i.e. +44 1234 567890, then it doesn't match.
if I dial the contact or send a message to that contact using the address book, then the log matches up as you'd expect.
I am fairly sure when I first had my Note2 that it did do the matching, but it was on a firmware released for Hong Kong (where I imported my phone from), and I subsequently changed to a more suitable firmware for use in UK.
I did post about this problem elsewhere on XDA Devs but none of the ideas worked
I gave up on fixing it until recently when I upgraded my firmware to the latest Vodafone release as I hoped that would fix it, and it still didn't do the matching, so thought to look for help again.

FIXED!
OK, the problem wasn't on my phone. I stumbled into this thread which made me think perhaps the problem was with Google's contact management system and not the phone:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=23092
so I went to https://contacts.google.com then clicked the "cog" settings and changed my language and phone number settings country away from the UK, did ok, went back in and changed back to UK.
now I can enter contacts in the preferred +44 1234 567890, with the spaces, and an incoming call matched!
it doesn't seem to retrospectively match old call logs, or old SMS chats, which is disappointing.
