After upgrading new 1.60.07 ROM, then I restore the data back to XDA II (which I use Pocket Backup to save before with the original ROM). And MMS and SMS do not work properly. I can not receive any SMS. MMS is worse, it's even start.
After hard reset again, I sync with outlook to get data back. Now everything is OK.
Someone can explain for me.

Somewhere along the way my INBOX got corrupted. It will not send any SMS messages anymore.
I have done a hard reset and found it to be working but after I restored my previous backup it stopped again.
My question:
How can I re-create the folders and queue's the INBOX uses, without having to do a full re-install?

Reinstalling my apps (including re-entering license keys) and reconfiguring my 4 email accounts after every ROM upgrade is a bit of a PITA.
Spb Backup 2.0 says it has a ROM upgrade mode. Has anyone tried this? Does it avoid or minimize the hassle of reinstalling/reconfiguring after a ROM upgrade?
(I have no connection with Spb other than I have licenses for a few of its other software products)
I'vetried the new version of SpB BAckup, and the 'New Device' function, though not the ROM Update function.
The 'New Device' restore works well- I did a backup from my Ameo, and restored it to my Tinity; SpB correctly interrupted and asked if this was a new device, and suggested using the New Device process.
The process went well, and the Trinity came out of it with my previous Ameo programs all installed, and also the SMS messaeg store.
However, there is a problme SpB BAckup2 seems to have a problem backing up Email data with cooked WM6.1 ROMs. It seems to work OK with genuine HTC ROMs which is bizarre, but at the end of a backup of my Irun ROM Ameo (and also a colleague with a Touch Cruise with cooked WM6.1 ROM) it gives an error at the end of the process saying 'unable to read cemail.vol' which is the email folder. S, as this is not backed up, it obviously didn't restore to the Trinity
NeilM, thanks for the response.
With respect to email, my focus is on account configuration rather than the emails themselves since my accounts are either Exchange Server or IMAP.
How does SPB Backup handle the account configuration? Thanks.
With my cooked WM6.1 ROMs it doesn't handle any part of the email system.
The Email accounts are absent after a restore, calendar seems OK, but Contacts goes into a continuous loop of syncing/verifying/syncing again so looks like a lot of the Pocket Outlook sync is broken after restore.
SpB are adamant this is not a problem on all the official WM6.1 ROMs they have tried, and some users are verifying that, but I've yet to hear from any of my colleagues who have a genuine 6.1 device, and have used SpB BAckup 2.
Just for the record, SpB Backup 1.6 gives me the same errors.
I’ve being using Spb Backup 1.6.3 on all cooked rom from here and never encountered any of the issue. After upgraded to Spb Backup 2, thought that it will safe time when restoring to another rom but no luck. Even tried restoring back to same rom it stop dead at restoring registry. Well, back to 1.6.3 till they fix it.

..if they fix it
My query about the email problems just prompted the response that it was working fine with WM6.1 so the problem is due to my cooked ROM.
Did you try Options and disabling the 'Stop Processes before backup' option? That seems to have worked for some people.
ROM upgrade mode is practically impossible afaik but not sure how SPB is going to work. It didnt work for me either. Actually the files in ROM are sometimes impossible to get copied ir backed up.
For example, I tried Ultra Lite ROM where ozVGA is there and then restored in Irus' Modded Taxist ROM which doesnt have ozVGA but RealVGA. Guess what? All icons vanished!

Carty..
Yes done that too and still hath (gold cube stop revolving) during registry restoring.
If it only works for some people, I rather stick to the previous version.
Usually I don’t keep any mail in the device, therefore unable to give any feedback.
Have done a few hard reset and restore. This is what I did.
1. Select customize restore and restore only the reg without any others. This way, the reg will be able to restore fully into the device. Then perform a soft reset once complete.
2. Select customize restore and restore the rest less the reg. This way it will be able to complete the restore. Then perform a soft reset.
That's it. Is kinda stupid in a way as you need to restore it 2 times.
Bear in mind that this works with the AP4.
I just flash the rom to AP5, and it doesn't even work. It just hang in the backup screen. Sigh!!!
I just flashed Bionix V over Nero v5. Per instruction from teamwhiskey/sombionix, I only restored third party applications and not system apps. I just realized some of my contacts are missing along with all of the mms, sms and call logs. How can I restore just the missing contacts. Plus How can I restore my mms/sms and call logs. Before flashing, I had backed up 'all user apps + all system data' so I know everything is backed up in titanium backup. What files am I looking for to restore these?
Thanks.
You have to restore system apps to get the mms / sms back. As for the contacts, do you not have them setup on your gmail account or are they on your sim? Putting them in gmail would be the best thing from now on.

You should be able to restore all of your contacts by clicking to restore "[CONTACTS/CALLS] Contacts Storage" in Titanium Backup. It's one of the green items on your list. After they've been restored, reboot your phone.
That said, I tried doing the same thing and a bunch of my phone-saved numbers were still not restored. It's possible that I re-backed up a bunch of apps and data (including contacts info) on TB before the system had a chance to fully restore everything, therefore deleting a bunch of my contacts when I reflashed Bionix V to fix another mistake I made (what can I say, it was my first time rooting my phone and flashing a ROM), so it was all probably my own fault. Fortunately, I had almost all of my contact information on my old G1 still, so I just saved all of that to Gmail and it automatically synced w/ the Contacts on my Vibrant.
Otherwise, I would have had to use Odin or Heimdall to bring my phone back to stock so that I could restore the nandroid backup from when my phone still had the info. Or, I could have tried to simply flash a JI6 kernel, but with that came the risk of a Android 2.1 kernel severely clashing with a 2.2 system. In your case, it seems like you should be able to reflash Nero v5, restore a nandroid backup from that system, and save all of your contacts the proper way.
After learning the hard way, I will concur with others who suggest saving all of your contacts to Gmail in the future. Or, you can back up your contacts in your phone by choosing to "export" them to your external sd card in the Contacts menu.
I believe that you can retrieve contact info saved to your SIM card by choosing to "import" them in the Contacts menu, as well.
Best of luck!
Hello,
I'm pretty new to Android and everything it comes with, so I have a few questions to ask, which I couldn't find the answer of in the forums.
I'm having my Galaxy S2 for a while now, and last week I rooted it. But now I want to install a different ROM on it. Sometimes it says there is a 'Full Wipe' required. I've been searching and found some information about it, but I still have some questions:
- If you do a 'Full Wipe', will everything be gone then? (Including contact persons, SMS messages etc.)
- I have Titanium Backup Pro installed, when I make a backup with this, will I be able to restore everything so with the new ROM I have my contact persons and SMS messages back?
Thanks a lot!
Marcel
Edit: Who added the 'epic fail' and 'moron' tag? I can't delete them because I didn't add them...
When you flash a "full-wipe" version of a rom, everything is cleared, just like a full restore, data, messages, contacts...and after that with titanium backup you should be able to restore all your saved data onto the new installed rom.
Preface (skip if you want):
So a week ago, my data and wifi both stopped working alltogether. If I did a factory reset, it worked, but when I restored my synced apps, it stopped working again. I reset without syncing, so I backed up everything using Titanium, and did an upgrade to Jelly Bean AOKP.
Now, my contacts won't restore.
When I try, nothing shows up in my contacts book, even though when I view my db files in .txt format, I can see jumbled info.
Titanium can't back up my contacts probably because I was using "Contacts" in Ginger Bread, and Jelly Bean has "People". I don't know, I'm a noob. I'm just guessing.
I've JUST finished restoring via Titanium and redownloading all my apps. And now I read I have to go back to stock firmware and back it up again and go back to AOKP?!
PLEASE help me figure out another way!
I only had computer access yesterday while visiting family (my own is broken).
Idea 1 (attempt in progress):
Remove "People" app on JB, restore original contact book, back up there, remove old GB book, reinstall People.
Problem is, I don't know where to find "People" again. Nor do I know how to uninstall it.
So, trying to figure that out.
Idea 2
Dissect my compressed backed up files and retype everything out, or replace my People files with them.
- com.android.contacts-20121205-121353.tar
- com.android.contacts-63595028103eedc350c975b39a6e23f4.odex
- com.android.contacts-e358929a51f0e35200269216062cfd41.apk
- com.android.mms-1eb9bc46bf5a27dcf82f70a4c46e23ac.apk
I managed to scavenge (out of other things):
- contacts2.db
- contacts2.db-journal
- profile.db
- profile.db-journal
...NO IDEA how.
Sync yout contacts with your google account before flashing JB. After flashing JB set your Google account and your contacts will be restored to your device.
If upgrading between stock roms you can also backup and restore contacts using Samsung Kies.
