As far as i know many XDA II/MDAII/Qtek/i-mate with the firmware
1.60 have the extended_ROM read only. Is there a really working
solution to make it rewritable for modifucation ?

Yes some XDA II have the Extended_ROM read only. No solution yet on making it writable. That is why I use a cook/modified ms_.nbf which countain the ExtRom and have to flash it.

Creat any combination of the ROM files (nk.nbf, ms_nbf, radio_.nbf) ... make sure they all have or modified to have the same Country and Language ID (use xda2nbftool.exe) ... the run HimaUpdateUT.exe
For additional s/w, you can modify the contents of the ms_.nbf file using ER2003Edit tool to add/delete any s/w cab files.
That's what I originally thought; however, I read somewhere that there might be slight API difference between the versions meaning that it would cause problems.
I wanted to use 1.60.00 ROM and 1.14 radio; but heard there is no difference between 1.10 and 1.14 radio.
I had a broken XDA II of a friend that its ROM was damaged by a wrong flashing ... I kept the RSU 1.10 as is and flashed only the ROM and ExtROM with 1.72 ... no problem so far

Etended Rom 1.72.800 (i think)
And radio version 1.17 or later.

The provider specific bits are in the ExtRom.
So in fact you can use any 1.72.00 upgrade file and delete the ms_.nbf file before proceding.
Afterwards you can fill your Extended Rom with the applications you want using the Extended Rom Unlock tools.
BTW: This is always a better solution because using a 'wrong' ExtRom could get you into CountryID trouble with the next upgrade.
There are numerous posts with 1.72.00 rom upgrades in it, but I :lol: would recomend my RUU172902WWE upgrade. It is documented what the files in the ExtRom all do, so its simple to skip the operator specific ones.

I have upgraded with http://www.qtek.nu/files/RUU172752WWE.zip and it works fine. However do not forget to first backup and then Hard reset the device before upgrading

The O2UK_connectionsettings cab is in config.txt but the cab is missing. Is this intentional?

dont use the patch.cab file it is specifically meant for XDA IIi else you will have to hard reset your device.

Hi there all. I just got an XDAIIi from my sis in the UK. How ever after hours and hours of going through the forum I realised that the only way to unlock my PDA is through imei check. I hope that there is a program on the way to unlock them same as the XDA 2. Cheers
I want to install WM2003SE on my XDA II device, WWE made by O2. But I check the *.nbf files in the upgrade and its all PH10, not PH10B, whats the difference can I still upgrade? Someone?
