Official i-mate rom won't install after installing t-mobile

Earlier, I installed unofficial T-Mobile 1.6 rom on my i-mate. I just recenlty tried installing the official i-mate update and there is a country code. I don't have the old rom to revert to. Can anyone help. I know I would have to at the least get a copy of the old rom and then install it into the i-mate. Again, since I don't have a backup of the old one, I would need info on how to get one first.
The T-Mobile unofficial one works fine. I just wanted to go back to always on gprs etc. that the i-mate update has. If not, I guess I will have to wait until the rom kitchen is up and running for this unit.

I think you better try it using bootloader way, because t-mobile protect it's update, it happen in XDAI if you update your XDA to 4.16 and you want to go back to 4.11 then you have to update it using bootloader to be able to go back from the previous one 4.11 8) hope this help you...opps correction please there is no bootloader on XDA II, there is bootloader but in different way, I think if you copy your old nbf to sd using xdatools and go to bootloader by using power+anydirection+ reset it will ask to download the nbf to you device... hmmm if this doesn't work you have to look for another way.
T-Mobile 1.60 BUGGY Rom - Want to go back to iMate ROM
Folks,
I'm in the same position - Can someone please outline the success they've had going back from the T-Mobile 1.60 ROM to Imate ROM 1.5283??
Any thoughts would be great... (I'm guessing the boot loader using an SD card may work but would love to hear of any new tricks that people have learned on this
Cheers

I'll try to help.
Where can the ROM be downloaded, so I can have a look at it.

T-Mobile Back to iMate ROM
Thanks
I've uploaded the new iMate ROM image to:
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/ruu15283.zip
The somewhat flakey T-Mobile 1.6.006 ROM (which I'm trying to get away from is at
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/TMobile160.zip
Of course, with the different operator / country codes, it's not just a matter of running the .EXE - It'll need to involve the boot loader of a little hex editing of the header, I'm guessing (just guessing?!)
The new iMate ROM is meant to be the best bet around at the moment and my device is an iMate in the first place. The only reason why I installed the T-Mobile one was to get the Bluetooth GPS fix (which works well) - BUT so many other things aren't as stable!!
The new iMate ROM is meant to have the BT GPS fix as well.
Any help, much appreciated!
Cheers

THANKS!
You're a champion!
Thanks very much..
It sounds like there's a few people that'll thank you!
The other posts on the subject aren't too clear at this point - So it'll be great to clear up the issue for the iMate / XDA II.
All the best - Have a great weekend.

OK, made some time to create a batch file to upgrade.
Works only for upgrade from T-Mobile 1.60.06 NL to I-mate 1.53.82.
1. Download the ROM image ruu15283.zip from the site in this posting
2. Unzip the file with Winzip
3. You now get a file called ruu15283wwwe_cdl.exe
3. Extract this file with Winzip to a new folder
4. Extract the attached file to the same folder
5. Start the conversion and upgrade by double-clicking convert.bat
Since I'm out till Sunday, I can't check my mail to respond to problems.
Enjoy!
Can the first person brave enough to try this please confirm success.
IT WORKS!!
Jes - You're a scholar and a gentleman!!
And a *(&(&( good programmer
IT WORKED!
Thanks a million!
Let me know how to send you virtual beers or whatever
(or if you need a hand with anything - Please let me know!)

Andy
Nah, I'm not a good programmer, I just know how to write bachfiles and how to combine things to get the disered result.
Thanks has to go to Isme. He knows a lot about the internal working of the XDA II, the ROMS and the bootloader process.
He wrote the great tool used to change the file headers, so you can update your machine with a ROM of a different brand.
He's a good programmer!
If somebody needs a mod to upgrade from another ROM version, please let me know.
And if you want to do something back, please donate to the people who keep this nice forum up and running.
It worked. For those who want to get back onto the official path from unofficial t-mobile this is an automated way to do it. Thanks...Jon
Backing Up XDA2 ROM+CE
I'm a new XDA2 iMate user, want to back up my ROM+CE before I screw things up. I did this on my XDA1 (power + software reset, then press contact button I think). Anyway, I always had my ROM+CE backed up to a 64M SD card ... just in case.
I've searched these forums for such a procedure for XDA2 ... no luck.
What is the process, if any, to backup the XDA2's ROM+CE image to SD card?
Appreciate any help,
Craig
I think it's possible with the xda2dmp tool, but you better ask Itsme, he wrote it.
You can find it on this site: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/xda-ii.html
PHoto contacts wont work
I have an imate and i just upgraded it with the new rom, but now i have a problem that the photo contacts wont work... Is there a way i can downgrade to an older version of rom. I use to rely alot on the photo contacts.. anyone else have the same problem?? thank you
Installing i-mate ROM after T-Mobile's
Gentlemen ,
I did the same (install T-mobile ROM on an imate ) and I want to install the imate ROM update. I am not sure about the T-mobile ROM , but when I boot it displays the following :
R 1.06.01
G 1337.16
D 1.60.00WWE
Kindly advsie if the above mentioned patch work in my case .
Appreciate you kind advice !
Thanks!
Should work.
Just try it out. If it's not ok, you get country error when you try to upgrade.
Jos
Hi Jos ,
I tried it and it WORKS!!!!!!!!!! You are a brilliant guy !!!
I owe you one!!
My friend wants to install the T-Mobile Update because the windows CE version on the T-mobile ROM is newer than that of the imate. Any magic patches that can be done.

Difference between i-mate 1.52.00WWE ROM and i-mate 1.53.82
Can anybody outline the differences between the 1.52.00 and the 1.53.82 official i-mate ROMs?
I'm trying to ascertain whether I have sufficient incentive to upgrade (given the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality I subscribe to in my old age!).
Sufficient incentive might be;
 Faster GPRS
 Improved battery life
 Improved all-round performance.
Thanks guys.

Help: Want to revert back to an old ROM

Hi
I just got me a new I-Mate And upgraded to the new ROM I-mate 1.72
The problem is as everyone have noticed already is with the cleartype fonts and that the device keeps on Hard resetting randomly.
So I wonder if theres a way to revert back to an old ROM version to get rid of all problems?
Help?
If you'd like to downgrade, have a look at this thread, http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=61.
There is another way to get rid of the clear type problem.
1. Download ace_ddi.dll from Here http://test.zyberlee.com/tzdn/files/ace_ddi.dll.
2. Replace the old one on your device window directory with this one.
3. Softreset, then you will see.
source: en.pdamobiz.com
thanks alot!
I'll try to follow the steps in the link and see how it goes through
Sorry, but the way posted in the link to downgrade didnt work.
And I ended up in the bootloader screen
Luckily I have backed up my ROM

Bootloader USB v 1.06
Hi,
I tried too to downgrade and now I'm stuck in the bootloader with only USB v1.06 on my XDA II screen.
Can someone tell me how to get out of this bootloader screen?
Thanks and
Merry Christmas to you all.
just connect your PDA to the cardle and upgrade to either ROM 1.66 or 1.72 in your bootloader mode
good luck

SD downloading, Sections=3, not allow update?! Why.......??

I've backup the BOOTLOADER + CE +Radio + Ext ROM to a file(use the command d2s adress1 adress2.........) and save it to PC already. (XDA II ) (for both Eng. XDA II and Trad. Chinese XDA II)
I've backup both version of Eng, and Trad. Chinese.
And then I copy the Eng backup combine rom to SD card and enter the bootloader mode in the Trad. Chinese XDA II, it work, it start to flash and completed.
I copy the Trad.Chinese backup combine rom to SD card and enter the bootloader mode in the Eng. XDA II , it work, it start to flash and completed.
It's several months ago, they works.
Yesterday, I try both the Eng/Trad. Chinese ROM on a arabic i-Mate XDA II, it fail at bootloader mode and stop at SD downloading, sections =3, not allow update, I just don't know why?
It's a matter of country ID or different between XDA II and i-Mate? What can I do to continue the flash?
With many thanks

hi FlashGordon,
can you please show us how can you backup the BOOTLOADER + CE +Radio + Ext ROM? Can yu do it in XDA 1? Thanks
@flashgordon: it seems that all 1.72.xxx versions out there do an update of the bootloader from 1.01/1.03 to 1.06. i tried this by updating my o2 xda2 1.66.231ger to a qtek 2020 1.72.01ger (eplus). there is no set of update files out so far, so a brave guy copied the rom-images of his brand new qtek 2020 to sd-card and spread it around in a german ppc forum. unfortunately i got rid of my old bootloader 1.01 and have now 1.06. from this moment on i get the same message you get when i try to update using a non-o2 update. a second bad effect is that downgrading to version before 1.66 do no longer work.
this is no solution but a little more background informations for you.
good luck

cool
Like satrapo said earlier. I 2 need the rom you have. either on an sd card of to flash to an sd card as i have one. Please could you send it me. i have WsFTP, ICQ, messenger or SD card through the post. I would give you some money when is end it back of course etc.... plenty ways to recieve it.. let me know which is best
Matthew
I've study on how to post the file in these 2 days.
now
CE (Asia O2 Eng)
Not sections=3 is not allow to upgrade.
Even Sections=1, Sections=2 will not allow to upgrade
But................
You can use your own Backup ROM to crack the restriction.

is t-mobile 2.26 ok for my kjam?

hi guys.i need your information.some people say before u flash your phone with any custom rom get the clean system with tmobile 2.26.i have i mate kjam.its g4 and cid unlock..can flash my phone t-mobile offical 2.26 rom.because i am not sure that offical rom is g4 or g3.i dont wanna brick my phone.thanks your information and help
Don't flash T-Mobile 2.26 on a G4.... It contains IPL/SPL and will brick your device!
thank u
thanks for your valuable information my friend.so people are giving me wrong advice.what should i do? how can i get right rom and latest ipl/spl for my imate kjam to make my system clean?maybe from xxx.clubimate.com ?thanks your help my friend.thank u
You should read allot before flashing your device, make sure you know what your doing when flashing the first time. You cannot touch/upgrade IPL/SPL on a G4, but it isn't necessary! You can still flash new roms into it. Start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
You also tell your G4 is CID-unlocked. Have you payed for it at imei-check? If not.... it's still CID-locked! There's a difference between SIM and CID-lock.
g4 kjam and cid unlock
yes.i paid to imeicheck.co.uk.i am sure my kjam all ready cid unlock.because this is not first to flash my kjam.i flashed before.(orginal kjam rom to faria 3.3 than to wm6 mb edition than to faria wm6 realthing than to x-plore 1.1 and now i am using faria wm5 3.3 4mb page pool)...now i am not sure how clean my kjam is?if ipl/spl update is not necassarly which you sais it's ok no problem.but i have some problem with my phone,i tried almost all task managers,i couldn't get good performance.i am having freezing problem.memory leaking problem etc...i thought maybe i must flash my phone some offical phone, but u said u cant use t.mobile or other...imate offical rom is very old version and useless and too slow..now i dont know what must i do?what should i do?thanks your help my friend.
I see! It is possible to got back to an official rom by recooking the rom without IPL/SPL. Here is explained how to do this:

Well, this is not EXACTLY correct. Check out THIS LINK for downgrade directions. You will need to get the original ROM from somewhere. It is possible that it is HERE IN THE WIKI. Chances are that one of the files there has the same Radio, IPL & SPL. You will just need to find the OS, if it is not in there. (In fact, based on the specs, it looks like the third from the bottom of the English ones - Vodafone?) To flash, you will need dutty's good nbh tool to unpack the ROM, becuase you will need to do the IPL and SPL separately from the OS and radio. See THIS LINK for that info. If you don't want to get into all the unpacking, you *could* do the SPL downgrade first, then the upgrade, but it is generally good practice to downgrade SPL as a LAST step since you lose the hardspl protection as soon as you do it. Finally, use the google search link in my signature if you need to find anything else. Good luck.

Like Todd said it is possible.
Check out the links in my signature and read alot before actually doing so.....
That is a practice tip
The Mr VanX guide alias HTC Hermes guide has complete steps to do this!
Good Luck
Ok, tell me if i correctly understand..
I found the correct rom, after i have to unpack this rom with dutty's good nbh tool..(i have to remove Ipl & Spl?).
After the unpack i have to pack again the rom without ipl and spl and flash it in my Herm??!!is it correct? And in the end i have to change ipl and spl(is it a down grade?).
Last questions yet,
What i have to verify first that i start all this work on my herm to not brick my Herm?
Thank you to all again for the help that you are giving to me
All the best
I may have made it more complicated. That is the process I use.
Best thing to do is simply follow Mrvanx guides.
First downgrade the OS/Radio using THIS GUIDE
Then downgrade SPL/IPL using THIS GUIDE
That is all - as long as you have HardSPL, it is VERY hard to brick your device. So, do that last.
Is possible to flash only the rom i need following the guide, and leave my device with the current hardspl ipl and spl?
Thank you

Yes. The only reason to remove HardSPL is for warranty. Just for clarification, there is no Hard IPL, only Hard SPL, but I know what you mean.
Basically, 99% of the time most of us flash we are only flashing OS or Radio. SPL and IPL don't change often. Most cooked ROMs are released as OS only.
Ah ok perfect, i'm not interested to the device warranty, because i bought it on ebay from Uk, and there is no warranty on my device, so i can only flash os without ipl and spl..
Thank you very much fo all the help

No worries.
To unpack the exe, just use winrar and open it up. You will get a RUU_signed.nbh and an RUU. Just use the nbh file with the custom_ruu.
Yes, you can downgrade radio to 1.47 safely. No worries. I tried 1.51 too - didn't work out for me either. back to 1.50 for me.
