I have unlocked my xda 2 and it is working fine.... what happens when I upgrade my ROM with the official 02 rom as and when it is available.... will it relock itself to the network and if so will it be just as easy to unlock it again (and will the unlock number be the same).
Many thanks
J
The unlock will remain unlocked.
yup once unlocked always unlocked

Hi,
I am using a 3 network locked phone. now since I already have an Unlocked bootloader and will flash stock rom with either wolfbreaks or Oodies, will it network unlock my phone?
similarly if I get an unlock code from 3, and unlock my stock gingerbread rom, will I have to buy another sim unlock code every time I change my rom?
Thanks
no.
sim unlock is permanent.
you dont have to unlock it again

Flashing a custom rom does not sim unlock
Unlocking bootloader does not sim unlock
Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it
Docomo unlocked at purchase for $39 USD

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

I've not flashed any new firmware as of yet because I'm not confident in what I'm doing haha. I'm not rushing to find anything, but would like to root at some stage. And if I can unlock the bootloader I would
IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!
if have the xperia x10 mini pro sim unlocked by software if change the stock 2.1 rom to another rom, the Sim unlock will be gone?
No, SIM unlock is independent of the ROM. dont worry, flash another rom.
thanks for the answer.
i'm asking this because I read somewhere that if you sim unlocked the device by Software the unlock me be gone, but if you unlocked by imei it won't be gone

You're confused with bootloader unlock and sim unlock. Sim-unlock allows you to use any network-provider on your phone, Bootloader-unlock allows you to install a custom kernel to your phone.
If you want to unlock the bootloader to flash a custom kernel, your network may be lost, because your phone wasn't sim-unlocked using an imei code, but it's not that your sim-lock is activated again.
You can get your network back by flashing back to stock Sony Ericsson kernel and then restoring your bootloader using S1Tool.

I had the same situation I went to the guy, he took off me simlock and unlock the bootloader unlocked this way
Only removing SIM-lock is not enough.
Depending on when your phone is manufactured, it may be possible. Check the manufacturing date, it is under the battery. If it is before 12W11 (year 2012, week 11), then it is possible. Otherwise, no.
There is 11W36. Do you know some tutorial for unlock this "unlockable bootloader" ?
isn't it dangerous? does it work?
I did it via wotanserver, but it's not free.
No homemade way??
I bought my Z2 from EE in the uk and i was very sad to find out that EE and other carriers stop you from unlocking the bootloader. So if i sim unlock my phone from EE, will i be able to unlock the bootloader? If not is there any other way i can make it say yes??

No and no.
This has been answered before. If you bootloader is locked, there is no practical way to unlock it.
