pictures on XDA I - MDA, XDA, 1010 General

well, I disliked the in-built functionality of wm2003 picture programme from the very beginning
when you ask the soft to SD storage card it opens up all of avaialable pictures no matter which catalogue there are, if I have let's say 200 familiy photos but want to show only a few of them I am stuck ... I can not open just one catalogue on SD card, uffff
is it a way to disable that or what other picture programme you advise, I'd care about three major funcionalities:
- slide show
- opening up only specific folders and not all of the files on SD card
- changing the size of thumbnails (like in ACDsee)
thanks for response, monika

DAVA pic viewer is so good and free

and just Where do we get That from??

http://www.google.dk/search?hl=da&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=DAVA+viewer&btnG=Google-søgning
google knows
google is wise in the way of where things are found

thank you All for answers, in the meantime I have just discovered that ACDSee can also do the job ....

[App] B&N eReader

Here's the B&N eReader app that was on my NRG ROM but gave a 'comng soon' splash but updated OTA to the attached new version that is live and working
A bunch of pics and info on the app ar located here: http://www.mobilitydigest.com/barnes-nobles-ereader-is-liveand-sweet/
Awesome, thank you kindly!
Excuse my ignorance about the B&N eReader but can you import ebooks you already own into this reader or will it only except publications from the B&N website?
I am not seeing any option to import existing ebooks, such as the ones I have for eReader. B&N owns eReader, if I remember correctly. Wonder if the two apps will "merge" at some point, or I'm guessing they may want people like me to switch over to the new reader.
this is awesome ... thanks David
I've been waiting for this for a long time. You're my hero! Thanks!
Yer looks ok, downloaded the free books, but I can't view my .epub books I already have, seems pointless application unless I can read my existing epubs, perhaps I am doing something wrong again...

I suspect they have to be in the folder that the app uses. I haven't dug around yet to find just where the program is storing my books.
After the first five minutes, my initial impressions:
- Visually very appealing
- Instant access to your B&N library (proud nook owner here, so I have a lot of e-books from B&N).
- Doesn't sync yet with the nook (but neither does the BlackBerry or iPhone version)
- You can read e-newspapers from the app (I don't think you can do that yet with the other versions, but maybe they've been updated)
If you buy e-books from B&N this is definitely a must-have app. Otherwise there are more flexible options out there.
I tried importing a book from my peanut press folder on my sd card to the proper one on main memory (where Dracula was downloaded), and it didn't recognize it. I love the fact that the bonehead who made the cab put the BN folder on the root of the device, instead of in program files.

It's in Program Files on mine. But I'm not happy about the boneheaded move to put the Books folder within the program folder in main memory. It might be preferable to install the app to a storage card instead of main memory. Unless someone can find a way to get the program to look for books on the storage card.
Version 1.0.0.27 is now on B&N's website

I agree. At minimum I want my books on the storage card, even better if the whole program is there too.

I'm still deciding which reader to go with. Which one do you like better?

After installation I was able to cut and paste the whole installation directory to my Storage Card, update the shortcut and the app worked just fine.

Mobipocket is still my personal favorite.
+1 for Mobireader
It would be nice if they'd update the application to better fit the HD2 (non D-Pad phones)
Download a sample from B&N, anyone will do or the sample of your book you already have..
Then go to your book folder, copy across your, EPUB file already converted from any other form in Calibre etc...then rename it with the exact same long 13 digit number as the one you downloaded...
then ok the image and title are wrong but the book is all correct inside...
Anyone get any further than this

Good tip, infact if you download a sample of the book you have already then everything looks and works fine , the thumbnail has a small sample sticker on it though but that ain't a problem
Rumball: I was able to move it to my storage card as you suggested - thanks.
Mobipocket works ok for me but I have the HD2 and it's hard to turn the pages. I'm still shopping around, I'm taking a closer look at the calibre conversion program.
All,
This app was developed to sync with your B&N ebook library only, ie not to read epub's that you might have already downloaded to your phone or from other sources. If you have a book from B&N then it should be in your ebook library in which case it can be synced and downloaded. That's not to say you can't trick it into reading other downloaded books per other comments.
Also note it's been developed specifically and only for the HD2... mileage will vary if tried on another phones.

New sony reader app update to ver 3.0.0 .Your opinions.

Yesterday I updated my sony reader app to newer version 3.0.0 . Even app icon is changed to green coloured one. Awesome :'P .First i were impressed. Interface is changed . We have more options. When we changing page we see nice emulation like in real book ( it is paging effect) . We can also change it to default if want. Zooming page by pinch also is better than in previous version so that i mustn't using magnifying glass anymore in some situations. But next my impression goes away. If I want to view eg my personal documents stored on sd card i must copy it to internal storage into reader folder. In that case app will see document. I lost ability to open document /book via 3rd party explorer like I can in previous version of reader. When I am doing this I see info cannot copy file not enough room . The problem is when I want to read a book which is bigger than my free internal storage space. I with all my polish grumpiness dont wanna uninstall anything in case of reading book . And what do you think about this app? Any idea how to revert to previous version of this app? I m looking forward to next update and fix it eventually.

I agree that Sony needs to improve the reader's search function so other directories besides the directories in /sdcard/reader will be or can be searched. Using ES File Explorer, I was able to select opening in the reader several .epub and .pdf files located in directories other than /sdcard/reader, including directories located on my external SD card. Later, when I directly opened the reader, the files I previously opened were listed in the reader's Books and Recently Read groups, so it appears the reader remembered the locations of the files I had opened via ES File Explorer.
In case if somebody wants I linked previous versions of sony reader 1.01 and 0.9

[Q] Gallery App question.

Hey there,
So i am new to the forums and to the Android world in general, just to get that out of the way .
Well i just copied some of the pictures from my PC to the Phone, but when i use the original Gallery App, it doesnt show the photos in the way i ordered them, meaning;
i have put the images according to my own ordering system into folders
ex; Images > Cars , then inside cars , Audi, BMW ,
Images > Nature , then inside that, Animals, Forest .... etc
when i open it in the gallery app, it shows each folder individually, meaning it brings all the folders (Audi, BMW, Animals, Forest) but doesnt put it in the way i put it on the phone, or the way it is stored if i check the files using a filemanager.
So is this normal, and there is no way to fix it? or perhaps there is another Gallery App that wont do that or so?
hope i could get my msg through.
Thanks for the help in advanced.

Create a shortcut FILE that is stored somewhere OTHER THAN the homescreen..

Hello all, I have received a TON of false positives in my search for whether this is even possible.
In windows, a shortcut to a file or folder can be stored in any folder.
So far in Android, a shortcut can only be placed on the home screen, and AFAIK does not have a corresponding file that can be found in the root browser.
I am trying to trick Handshaker into giving me access to my EXTERNAL SD, and the only way I can think of is to create a shortcut somewhere on the internal SD that zips on over to the card where all my media (100Gb+) is stored.
I'm on a OPX, so internal storage BARELY COVERS apps. No switcheroo action is reasonably doable.
As an aside, is this whole Mac incompatibility thing a vestigial grudge? It must take a lot of effort to KEEP usb from working as it should. Are there other apps besides the "works when it feels like it" Android File Transfer or "installs weird **** on your phone" HandShaker that allow you to move around YOUR OWN FILES without using the cloud? The amount of web silence and lack of development is stunning to me. Maybe I need to refine my search terms?? Unlikely. I've tried many tens of iterations.
The search for answers here results in a mountain of false-positives as well.
Thanks for taking the time to at least read this.
Cheers.

Music library filled with empty tracks with strange names

Today I noticed something very strange and disturbing on my daughter's phone. The music library is suddenly filled with empty tracks with names (artist, album & track) that seem to be auto-generated. They are readable and sound some how Italian or Romanian like this "Pamideta Nani", "Tivifala Lavi" or "Abfa de Mamobra". They are certainly no data garbage from flipped bits / destroyed file system. There is always exactly one album per artist and each album has exactly ten tracks. These tracks exist only in the music app and in the file browser under "Music". Detailed information reveals that it's only meta data (tags) in the media content provider without any corresponding (mp3) file.
The phone is a Galaxy 4 running LOS 16 with microG. It has no SIM card. Recently there were some problems with the SD card being "lost". The SD card used to be formatted as external and now suddenly is formatted internal. But I suspect this is unrelated and indeed a hardware problem (card or connector) and my daughter pushed a wrong button one day, maybe when the SD card was "rediscovered". My daughter has some apps (games) installed via aurora store and she does it by herself when ever she has Wifi. So, I am not sure if the dubious "music" is due to some new app. But I doubt it. What malicious app would make itself being noticed in such an obvious way? Also, the only other (unresolved) occurrence of this phenomenon, that I could find, reports (in 2018) that he didn't change much on his phone (LOS 14) and was almost never online. I cannot post the link but its on androidpit and can be found with these keywords: "ploetzlich, unbekannte, ordner, musik, virus", unfortunately it's in German.
What could this be? It's definitely cause by some deliberate action. But what app would do this? Is it maybe some code to fill the library for testing purposes. But why was it triggered?
Any serious comments or hints welcome. Please no speculation about viruses unless it's proven that a virus exists that does this or concrete advise how to find out more. I will probably clean install the device in any case. If I can supply any further info, please let me know.
