tried it totday has a similar footprint uses up a lot of memory and the interface is not so easy... as pocket informant... actually i can live with the calendar and contacts provided wotht he OS tasks (and the today plugin) is what i need to get upgraded.. with the voice commander i am very comfortable witht he other 2 items...
the today plugin for TASKS really needs an ypgrade doesnt show info only the # of tasks pending/due
thanks though...

tAgenda
Check out tAgenda (freeware).

Also check out TaskPlus v1.33.
TaskPlus v1.33 can be found at:

HTH

thanks both of you.. liked both the programs but stuck with tagenda... is a better replacement for calender+ and does the tasks thing i wanted...
appreciate it

Yeap tAgenda is what I use just wanted to let you know that there were others. Glad to here you like!
HTH

I upgraded to a Wizard and unfortunately tAgenda, which i loved so much, does not work under WM5. I already mailed the author a month ago, but he seems to have vanished. What I am looking for is a similar app, but WM5 compatible. Just a plug-in that combines tasks, calendar and message count. tAgenda had a smal footprint in memory, that's why I loved it so much. Does anyone know of a similar app, that is suited for WM5?

Applications you can't do without!

What are some of the applications that you use frequently and without them your life would simply stop to be...
For me the most frequent applications I can't do without are:
MS Voice Commander - Whenever on the road this one has saved my life countless times.
SBSH Pocket Weather with VGA Icons, Awesome options allow me to configure this little thing to auto-download live radar maps so I know whenever there is a storm approaching etc.
Without those above apps I would simply be lost.
What apps would you not be able to do without?
bublebreaker....
Unless there is a very recent update the last time I tried to install sbsh pocket weather on a 6.1 rom it did not install. Anyone else had that problem? I am sure however that this will be resolved shortly.

I have no problem running SBSH Pocket weather on any 6.1 rom. I have it on my Athena running the WM6.1 rom ( i believe the XIP of this rom is WM6 though) I also have it running on my Kaiser, currently running a dutty rom, but have had no other problems running several Kaiser 6.1 rom... DId have a few minor issues running SPB Weather on 6.1
I*e never used that program. Is it freeware? If so anyone have a link? I'm currently using Radar Watch 2, nothing fancy, but get\ the job done. Its free, google it.
Flexmail, the beta of version 4 is very nice
Memory-map use it at work
opera/opera mini/netfront
logmein
I am not too sure
but I think I will vote for logmein, this allows me to do remote access of my desktop so I can use all the usual softwares there.
realVGA, that's an absolute must.
I think I depend a lot on Pocket Informant 2008
Adobe PDF LE
Softmaker: Text and Plan
Weatherpanel is the next best thing as well. Where i live, the weather is very emotional....Its good have an app that is sensitive!
MemMaid worth every cent they charge for it!!
PocketXpdf http://pocketxpdf.sourceforge.net/ is the best pdf viewer/reader and is freeware
PocketMind is great for organizing notes
Egress rss reader seems to be the most customizable

also LogMeIn, and realvga is a must.
but number one program for me, Mobipocket Ebook reader
Must haves
PhoneWeaver -> nessecary for switchig profiles automaticaly based on calender, time, etc.
Pocket Informant -> Pocket Outlook is unusable.
SPB Mobile shell 2.0 -> Easy way to use device and access your programs.
Cyberon -> for handsfree use of your little phone.
Memmaid -> for periodicaly cleaning up Microsofts mess in your phone.
QAN
I’ve Mobile Invoice in Athena, lately discovered only CooTek Cooperation TouchPal (VGA) works wonderful well together.
Pocket Informant save me the trouble to change from task to appointment and visa versa.
MemMaid and Spb Traveler, both are super aid to me.

windows office anything like it on the htc hero

hello, have just joined the forum and am looking to get the htc hero, currently i have a tytn 2. I use office sometimes and was wondering if the hero has anything like office on it or can be put onto it.
Quickoffice comes bundled with the Hero.
I think it would suit your needs.

Quickoffice is the answer
+1
Yeah you can also get Docs To Go in the market but its pricey. Works really well tho and there are more options editting and formatting wise that can't be done on Quick Office. Android Docs To Go only does XL and Word.
Occassionally I'll need to quickly re-edit or tweak stuff and email stuff back to the publisher in Word format and Docs to Go lets me, but I don't think Quick office does, cos I cant save in different formats etc.
Daisy xx
You should bear in mind that DocsToGo currently doesn't want to download/install on the Hero from the Market.
Regards,
Dave
Aww annoying - you can get it from Dataviz tho I think - worth a try if you desperately need it.
Hugs - Daisy xxx
Office on Hero
You could try androffice
another alternative should be available soon watch this http://android-unleashed.com/2009/07/citrix-brings-windows-applications-to-android-video.html they had microsoft word running
Screens are from the video
That's full Word running on a Citrix server, which is more suited to Corporate use as most "normal" users won't have their own Citrix server running to serve out apps! Regardless though, I seriously doubt how useful this will really be with the limited resolution of the current crop of Android based phones - it'll be far more useful for Android based netbooks.

Dave
QuickOffice Problem
HEllo everyone in my situation - paid app's from MArket not available.. but in QuickOffice are problem with Word document - there are table - and quick office do not show this .. it look's what all file not loaded .. and table is hown as black square with red cross
any suggestion how it can correct ?

[REQUEST]A working Opera 9.7 TITANIUM Plugin

Hello my wonderful community!
Recently I've switched from the old WM 6.1 to the WM 6.5 and I must admit I'm lovin the Titanium interface. Its even more usable for me than the new Manilas. But theres only one thing missing. A Titanium plugin displaying Opera bookmarks. Now I know there was Showaco's plugin for this but it doesnt work with the new Opera 9.7 as the file which stored the bookmarks for Opera seems to be gone. So my humble request... would anyone be interrested in developing a new plugin which works with the new opera? Even if its impossible to read the bookmarks from Opera or Manila, even manual adding of bookmarks for example would also do the job right? Thix for reading

I recall there is a thread with an opera fix to fix that bookmarks issue on new opera versions, and then use the existing OperaFav plugin

Saw that fix, tried it... doesn't work:/
By the way I'm shocked to see that the developement of plugins for Titanium has stopped... Doesnt anyone appreciate it anymore?

The fix worked for me. There are still new plugins coming out, like Playit, Speeddial or AppLauncher or JMLLauncher etc. Also JML is expanding his Today plugin to incorporate more information. Of course there not many new plugins anymore as this has been saturated and almost everything has been covered, so there is not anymore so much need.

Yes and no
I think we are only at the beginning, what's possible with Titanium (it's too much undocumented - only with the findouts which comes more and more, we get more)
Look at TouchFlo: How much "Panels" do you have? 10,12?
In Titanium there are almost 30 Plugins available - some are old, some are newer.
And I must admit - I would have ideas fo 10 more Plugins, which are not available, like writing SMS direct in Titanium, looking TV-Panel, Radio-Panel, ... and much more. And I think there are much more people here, who have ideas and could make a new Plugin.
And you could invent for each application with less or more effort a Plugin to control it or to use it - so it's almost unlimited.
Unfortunately some of the first Pioneers seems to have no more time - like Showaco or AppStar. And therefore there was a little stop 3-4month before - but no more now, I think.
But the most of the Plugins must get interactive - that's the new way to develop 'em. The must communicate with each other. The must be skinable and must get new Skins.
With JMLPanex/JMLGoto they have working Buttons and you can jump around in Titanium. You can "interact"
Contables Plugins uses this, Chris makes a great Sense Theme, and with TICS_installer it's now possible to install each Plugin to each Theme - also Bliss,Neo,Win7,SPlugins,...
And only to mention a new version with much more possibilities (Calendar for x days now possible, SMS,...) is the new JMLToday 5.5 from todays release:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540413
Hey - Titanium is only at the Beginning - the official Release of WinMo 6.5 was... ? (Oct'09)
Micha
simply edit the first line of opera9.mscr file to read
Code:
opera = "\windows\Opera9\Profile\opera6.adr"
that is all that is needed to make it work reading bookmarks. may need to edit the path to the opera exe for the launcher if it is not in the default \windows\operal.exe

best rss-reader fpr hd2?

hello,
i´m loving the hd2, but the rss hub hangs up very often, so i´m really like to solve this issue by using an differend rss reader.
so the big question is, which is the best rss reader available for the hd2?
many thanks in advance.
best regards
mario
Dear spoogedemon,
I advise you to install Egress... I tried many but liked egress as it is fully configurable...
Here is the link : http://www.garishkernels.net/egress.shtml
Kind Regards...
Spb News is good and finger-friendly.
My favorite is SBSH GoNews Touch.
GoNews is best.
Tried them all and the only one which has never hung with regular use for me is Egress. Manages podcasts well too
SpeeedReader reads google reader...excellent program!
full-feed possible?
I have been using yomomedia and been very happy. it handles podcats, vidcasts etc. And it is free. SBSH GoNews Touch looks similar to yomomedia but it's a paid application.
I have one question. i don't have a data plan so i read the rss feeds offline. sometimes i would like to see the full articles. are there any rss reader that can trick the source into downloading the full feed or downloading the full feed link in addition to the summary so that when i click the link full feed is available?
thank you very much!
Another vote for yomomedia
yomomedia is good - nice modern interface and I love the way you can configure all your feeds (inc video and audio) via a web page on your desktop (where it's much easier to configure) and the mobile version syncs with that. You can also set it to only download audio / video content when you're connected to a pc (etc. - very configurable). The initial feeds it sets you up with are a bit annoying but once you've got them deleted and your own setup it's great.
Thanks for the recommendation on Yomomedia folks, just started to look into sorting out my RSS feeds properly, and really liking YMM (the web service that syncs with the phone is nice, much prefer organising that on my PC!). As you say, shame about the pre-loaded feeds, but once deleted its excellent.
Speeed Reader asks for my google reader account credentials. I type em in like I do in my PC webbrowser but it says I can't login?
I love RSS Hub and I don't see any reason to change. It came with my HD2 and it works really good.

due to this, i´m lokking for an alternative solution.
but rss hub is really nice indeed.
i like the keyword-option a lot.
my content:
47 feeds
4 of it getting a podcast update (last 10) everytime i connect to the pc.
it would be really nice, to get it working without the known issues.
Yomomedia is really a great application !
I advice you to try it !
SmartRSS TouchGR
Really finger friendly and quick integration with google reader (i read over 100 channels and about 1000 dialy posts) with realli fast response times
BeetzStream SmartRSS TouchGR
Best money used with HD2, really impressive.

[Q] Switching back to WinMo from Android

Hi!
I'm thinking about switching back from Android to WinMo 6.5 because in my opinion Sense + CHT2 is superior to any other homescreen and I miss it a lot. But I am not sure because there are a lot of things I think I'll miss. First of all the stability of Android. I have never had problems with things crashing or the need to restart the phone. Also I like that everything works good for me out of the box. Well, and here are my questions regarding WinMo:
- Is there a browser which works as good and fast as the stock android browser? For me it is important that I can view all web pages as they would be displayed on my computer (no mobile pages and such crap). Also flash support would be awesome.
- Does syncing gmail via ActiveSync support push mail and multiple gmail accounts?
- Is there a free alternative to the provided rss app?
The most important things for me are:
- stable system
- very good and fast browsing experience (with working flash)
- sync contacts and calendar with gmail (which syncs also with evolution on my pc)
I think I'm going to miss the facebook app from android because the WinMo one is really crap but I can live with that, I'm not a heavy fb user.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Ive always found Opera 9.7 to be better than any of the android browsers... except maybe Dolphin..
I can give you a cab to get rid of the default user agent and prevent it displaying sites in mobile view if you want. Unfortuneately flash support is not possible, there is a flash compatible browser called Uzard but its pretty buggy. I guess you could install it and just use when you need flash...
Not sure about syncing your contacts and calendar with gmail as I have never bothered but I have seen something around here about it.
CHT2.0 contains an RSS widget which links in with the stock RSS reader, Im not a heavy RSS user so I dont really know how it compares with the android equivalent but its fine for me.
As for a stable system........ cooked ROMS are the way to go.
Energy, Artemis, Duttys and Elegancia are all popular choices...
Ive just switched from Energy to Elegancia and its incredibly smooth and stable.
Remember, you can always keep an android build on your SD card and have the best of both worlds.
Hope that helps in some way.....

Yes, Opera 9.7 is a very good browser. Although on some websites it did not display everything correctly.
Well, flash is not a killer criteria but would be nice. You may not need it for months but when you need it one time and you can't...
RSS is important for me as I enjoy reading the news on my phone. I also use twitter a lot for news, so I love the twitter tab in sense
I used energy before switching to android and all at all I was pretty satisfied with it (although the dialer looks awful IMHO ). But sometimes you see WinMo behind the sense-curtain and some things lag or even crash and that is something I do not have with Android. Well, I think I'm gonna give it a try (I have a CWR backup for the worst case) and use parallel some SD builds of android.
Sharing that cab would be awesome! Thanks a lot! I know otherwise you have to do some registry tweaks...
Heres that cab for the user agent.
Also, if your a heavy twitter user you might want to try moTweets. Theres a free ad supported version, contains a few more features than the twitter tab.
