Ring Tones
 I have few of them
 http://www.uspocketpcphone.com/id1.html
otherwise any wav files can be used
heck you could fart into your computer mic and use that it as a ring tone if you liked
if you do a google search on free wav files or wav download or something tons of them will pop up all over the place
also make sure they are pcm and if they are stereo and sampled at a higher Hz then 11Khz then lower it to 11Khz mono and possible 8bit
since as a ring tone you cant really hear anything higher because the ring speaker dont support THX as of yet
Great ones here

Can't download them
Please zip them up and attach. IE is just embedding them and you can't D/L.
Sure, or you can open your temporary internet files and grab them from there.
Here's on of my Favs.
i know this is a forum for the xda but i figured since the topic is ringtones i wanted to ask the group for some help.
been trying for ages to find the title of the song in nicolas cages' "gone in sixty seconds" movie. the scene where he takes his tools from his hiding place, goes down to the garage and thanks his friends for helping him. he then asks the tape to be played and this funky song sounds. they then go out to steal the cars. been wanting that song for a ringtone. tried looking at the actual soundtrack but i don't think it's there.
cheers mates

Alright, this is what I've found out so far. There is a utility called PSMPlayer which can save a regular MIDI file as a Ringtone. This saved MIDI format is compatible with WM2003.
If your MIDI file contains more than 6 instruments (including drums), then you have to reduce the number of instruments (I believe WM2003 only supports upto 6 instruments. Yes, I know, this sucks.) to 6. In doing so, you have to use your best judgement in order to see what instruments you want and which combination sounds best.
Happy ringtone making!
well i think the reason it only supports 6 is that its to make it compatable with polly. tunes(ie nokia ones)
As I have been testing this and all the nokia pollies i download work fine with my xda
sheran_g thanks great work now could you please show us a step by step on how can i convert a MIDI file with this software to be able to use it on my XDA so far i like the whoe program but it didnt work with or i may be missing something.

My favourite out of the ones that do work is black adder, this has replaced a .wav of bad boys I was using for a few weeks. Wonder whats next...

Hi....
thought this would play tones out the 'box'?
when I copied those files over.... now when I add a ringtone the only option I have is wav ? :?
any ideas?
cheers
There is a utility called PSMPlayer which can save a regular MIDI file as a Ringtone. This saved MIDI format is compatible with WM2003.
how to do it:
1) open psmplayer
2) file> open > locate a midi file on your system.
3) play it to see if it sounds ok
4) click the RED circle icon
5) give the poly ring tone a name
6) tick the box "ring tone mode"
7) click ok, this will ask for a place to save the file to. Then click save
8) close program
9) copy the file you just made to your windows/rings dir.
there you go, a working poly ringtone
PS thanks to sheran_g for the link to the proggy
but somehow the files don't sound good? like the speaker breaks up or something?
Yeah i got the same thing..
they dont sound good and sometimes they are change to a lower Volume very low.
Any Ideas???
:?
yeah me too,
Can anyone (developers included) create a guide to have GOOD sounding polyphonic ringtones on the xda ???
Free Burgers* waiting
*meat flavour
This seems like a shortcoming in the Qtek/XDA. There are only 6 fixed instruments on it. When creating your ringtone, you need to figure out what the instruments are so that you get the best sounding tone. Also, there seems to be no volume regulation so that's why it sounds really bad (as if your speaker is going to blow  )
In my personal opinion, WM2003 midi ringtones have a loooong way to evolve yet.
I use 2 programs from acoustica.com pull out about a 10 second piece of a midi file and convert it to a wma file and then stick that in the rings folder. It's about 12k in size and sounds great! Good luck! - Jim
may one ask what the two programs are you use from accoustica?
I cant find any that say about midi..
cheers,
Ian.
Hello people of the world,
Just have a question to ask. Is there any program or any way to have support for polyphonic or midi ringtone support for my Siemens Sx56 (XDA-1)? I have tried converting Midi to Wav with the lowest quality (8-bit, Mono, 11 Khz) and the file size for 10 sec is about 100 kb. The sound quality is good but I really don't want to convert everytime I want to put a new midi in my mobile phone. So, if there is a way out there, spit it out! Also, I have cooked a T-Mobile with the Polyphonic ringtone option. But I don't see anywhere how to enable the option? Need help on that too!
from what i've heard then if you have 2003 then you can use mid files
By default, WM2003 doesn't support normal midi files unless it's of one track only, which I consider it very low quality for a device like the XDA.
By installing the MIDI56.CAB file that's part of MMS Composer, I find that WM2003 can support midi files ... it doesn't sound good as ring tones, and I prefer wav or wma instead.
Very Helpful ...
Thank You Biso007 for your help. I found the Midi56.sa.cab file from the XDA Forum and really it worked perfect. There is a little bit of change in sound of drums that sounds like some other instrument but everything else worked out fine. One question though, does anyone know how to enable or add the Midi file support when I want to assign a specific ringtone to a contact? When I go to assign a ringtone, there is only the .wav option, how can I bring the .midi option? Do I have to add Mime type or what? Any clues ... ? :?
I think this depends on the s/w design ... not something that you can modify

Hi guys,
Dont hate on me if it's been answered before, but I have a question that I would really like a straight answer to. Before I had my Raph, I was raised on Nokia's. In this instance, when I have a full .mp3 track as my message tone, it would play, then when the phone was activated (unlocked or msg read) the song would stop playing. I would like someone who has to knowledge to think of a way that this setting can be replicated on the Raph.
It is annoying to no end that the only tones I can get that don't play for +3mins are small, low volume chimes that I can't hear in the car, walking with the phone in my pocket etc.
If a fix could be found, can someone post a link OR explain how this can be done.
Thanks in advance.
have you tried convert the music file to .wav format instead of .mp3
Ok just confirming. I can get the .mp3 file to play as my message tone. But it will play start to finish. I want a fix or mod that will stop it playing once I have unlocked the phone or turned the screen back on.

That happens when you put them in your ringtone folder, have you tried to put them in the root of your sd card then selecting them in the notifications menu?
as far as I know there is no thing like that. BTW Welcome Fellow Nokia to TP USER. I also only was a Nokia person and decided to try something new. Sure this thing doesn't have as many cool things as my Nokia E62 but the customizing that can be done is fun as hell.
.WMA seems to be the preferred Ringtone format from what I am seeing in the file system - yes, it will work with other formats.
I haven't found a way to stop playback once it has started; seems like it has to go through to the end of the audio file.
a way 2 stop it is 2 press down on the d-pad, like the direction down. It will stop. I was having the same problem with my fuze.
