I have started a project and decided that before i get to far with it that i would make a post here and see if anyone else has done this yet or is working on it...
Anyway, i am in the process of making 1 cab to install all the settings from the provider, instead of the multiple ones found in the rom and in the ext rom.. Now i am only talking settings, not like the extra bloatware in the roms, like goodlink, BB connect, etc... I have made a cab so far but wont test it till mid next week when my test phone arrives.. So if anyone has done this then lets compare notes, if not then i should be able to release something for cingular soon. Which will come in handy when kyphur releases his cooked rom.... If i can master the cingular one then the other providers shouldnt be a problem...
Let me know what you think, ideas, etc.. i could even go as far as customizing it with some of the tweaks...
This Is A Great Idea. I've Been Looking For A Cab File Like This For Ages, It Would Make Updating The Firmware So Much Less Of A Hassle.
As To Wether Or Not Someones Done It Before You Might Want To Check This Site Out. Although The Settings Didn't Work For Me On Orange UK .

Cheers
This would be a great thing to use with any cooked Rom. Definately woul help those just chomping at the bit to get XDA Live...
Faria has a CAB in his AKU 3.3 Release for WIZARD, with most of the carrier settings. It has a provider selector. Maybe use that with his permission?
I have attached the Folder with all the cabs in that EXT ROM.
OpSet.CAB is probably the "Provider Selector"
what i was talking about was more for the hermes... all of the other cabs i have seen have been for other devices.. and most reg settings are completely different!!!
Aaaaah. If you have one cab ready and especially for CING and need to test it, you can post it here as a test CAB and I can test it for you. And should you need help getting the settings, I can help in that matter too. I could basically take the settings off the Faria one and put it in a format that you could use and PM it to you.

I have extracted all the settings and xml files from the latest cingular rom.. i have it put together for the most part just tying up some loose ends on it..
The Settings I meant was for all providers that are available in that folder. If need be, I am available to test the cab for you as I have a spare device that I test things on .

what i was saying is that those cabs are for the wizard... some of the settings and location of the settings in the reg are different on the hermes.. but let me perfect this one before we worry about the other providers...
I would love to have something like this to go along with a rom that is completely bare...
shotgunmark,
im interested in helping with development on this proj... i think the easiest way is to put all settings into an xml file and with .NET2.0 framework and studio 2005 i can write a prog to insert the connection info into the reg...

i have made 2 xml files already, 1 for the cabs and xml's that install from the OS and 1 for the cabs in the ext rom.. from this i have made a cab, which seems to install about 90% of the way then fails.. i will work on this more in the next few days, will also have more time after my test phone arrives as i wont have to keep jacking around with my phone... After i get this successfully made then with your help we should be able to make an app that will allow you to choose which provider you want and it will install those settings.
I also wanted to note that we will probably want to go the route of the cab file for the different carriers since some of them actually have to install different files specific to them...

FYI, Not sure if this is what you are looking for when you refer to the carrier setting Cab's. Bur the Original Imate JasJam Rom came with a Stack (28) Cabs for EMEA, Aust & NZ.. I have these or they can be sourced from the old ROM's that were on the site.. They also had the selection program also of course.. Not sure if you can just use that, Modify and extend to cover more??
the plan is to implement an application like netwiz on the dopod roms... as this cannot be extracted... it can but will only run on the dopod rom...
I would be very interested in this as well, one of the major things I have missed since leaving my ETEN m600 for the Hermes is that it had operator specific settings for tons of operators including for those of us up north.
any updates on this?
Yea i was wondering what happened with this as well. this would be an excellent cab to have in the extended ROM. or to just have period.
its still on my list.. i didnt forget about it... progress has slowed just a tad due to my work schedule changing every other week (you would think that a 120year old company could get a schedule right)....

Hi there,
This software is an Antitheft and you can use it to track your device when it was lost or stolen. It works catching a formated SMS sent from any phone and then send useful informations back.
You can use it to others objectives, like keep your eye in your child. Use your imagination!
If the thief change your SIM card, you will receive a SMS alerting you and you still can track your device. All you need to do is set an emergency cel number.
RemoteTracker can be added to third part custom ROMs. But, with a hard reset all configurations was lost. Now, RTRegCreate tool can create a configuration file using your PC. ROM cookers can use this DLL to make RT hard reset safe!
I need to learn VisualStudio 2008 and develop to Windows Mobile for professional purposes. I choose to make this projet because thought it might be fun
My Glofish X800 has Panot (from eten-users.eu) custom ROM with WM6.1 and native .NET 3.5, but you can download this .NET version if needed here: http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/...49-3C6B-42F1-9FD9-0041345B3385&displaylang=en
The installer CAB file and source code of RemoteTracker can be downloaded here:
http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net
This version answer the commands below:
rt#help - send this list of commands;
rt#ehelp - send this list of commands by e-mail;
rt#cb#<some_tel_number> - turn on the Phone and call the number passed as parameter;
rt#gp#<some_cel_number> - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to cel number passed as parameter.
rt#egp#<some_e-mail_account> - try to get GPS coordinates and send back to e-mail passed as parameter.
rt#pb#<some_cel_number> - Use them to receive your contacts stored in SIM card back. If you do not take the phone back, at least the contacts will be saved.
rt#epb#<some_e-mail_account> - Same as pb, but the message goes by e-mail.
rt#elt#<some_e-mail_account> - This command will start GPS, Log the path about 5-6 minutes and send the KMZ file by e-mail. This file can be opened with Google Earth. Very cool.
rt#go#<some_cel_number> - get 'settings/owner' informations.
rt#ego#<some_e-mail_account> - Same as go, but the message goes by e-mail.
rt#rst - softreset device.
rt#dkz - delete all kmz files.
rt#dsc - delete all contacts in SIM card.
rt#eganfl - Send, by e-mail, a list of all incoming and outgoing calls if you have VITO audio notes installed.
rt#eganf - Send, by e-mail, all incoming and outgoing calls records if you have VITO audio notes installed.
rt#findme - Same as 'gp' command, but ask you if you want to answer the command.
rt#alarm - Just play a sound. Useful when you don't remember where the device is, but you know it's your home.
rt#gi - Send informations about your phone: IMSI and IMEI.
rt#egi - Same as 'gi' but the answer goes by e-mail.
rt#msg - Send a message to be displayed on your device.
The main screen has a tab with help.
I did this project to be multi-language. In this version there is Portuguese (my mother language), English (sorry about it, my english is very bad), Dutch (thanks to Cybermoose, from etenusers) and Spanish (thanks to Popy from etenusers). If you want to make your own translate, I can tell how. Very simple.
If you decide to try RemoteTracker, I would like to read reviews, comments and suggestions. Remember this is a beta version and may contain bugs. Use at your own risk and with caution.
Please see ChangeLog.txt to see the improvements.
For those of you who are having the problem with the help file,
with some strange certificate errors and PIE opening when you start RTconfig, the problem lies with having the default program that opens html set to something besides PIE (Opera 9.5, perhaps)
To fix this, use schap's Advanced Config tool to set .htm and .html files to be opened by:
Code: iexplore.exe file: %1

There is an integration with AppToDate. This application verify if configured softwares are up to date or not. If not, you are alerted, and invited to download the new version! Very cool and useful.
You can download AppToDate here: http://www.modaco.com/content/apptodate/267096/download-apptodate-supported-applications/
After install AppToDate, please download RemoteTracker and run RTConfig or softreset your device to configure AppToDate.
Try this and don't forget a new version never more!
--> It is a work in progress. In future versions I will make a lot more.

I didn't know this software. Very good I think, I'll try later. But I suspect the objectives are different. RemoteTracker works only in silent mode to help you find your device if you loose it.
There is only one user interface to configure few parameters. After that you don't need to use it any more.
All functions are activated by SMS (remotely) and the answers will be by SMS or e-mail. For example you can use your wife's phone to send SMS to your lost phone and then receive GPS coordinates to find it.
If you want to compare RemoteTracker with other software, it's more similar to Mobile Justice, but with more features.
This is first goal of RemoteTracker. The second is help you to retrieve your personal data back. It's not totaly done yet. There is a work in progress.
Hope this answer your question
I think this is fantastic! Great idea! Do you think you can incorperate more CDMA-friendly, not-solely-sim-card features? I'm downloading now
I don't have a CDMA device But I think I can search for informations and then code, but without tests.
About suggestions that similar software already exists, this is no argument that this software should not be developed. We see so many sw that do the same thing. Some do it better than the others. So, even reinventing the wheel is necessary smtimes because smone came made the tubeless tyres by reinventing the tubed ones. (and ofcourse, we all made "Hello World"'s, isn't it)
Thanks joubertvasc, and I wish you luck in your endeavour. Any development is good development.
wow. If this is going to work as it should, then perhaps it is something that needs to be built into the rom itself?
what happens if the new owner decides to hard reset?
Sounds very promising! I'm bookmarking the page already!. can't wait to try it. than you for this!

One thing I'm thinking is how to reinstall RT automaticaly after a hard reset. May be using external cards, but the autorun feature only works when card in inserted.
Built into the ROM is possible, but only ROM cookers or manufactures can do it.
I think its early to think about it. RT have to me more tested.

All WIMP does is send an SMS back with the current GPS co-ordinates, very useful but severely lacking compared to what the OP is trying to do. That said it is native PPC code with no need for .NET.
Surely we should commend anyone trying to write alternatives as without that attitude we would all be using Windows with MS Office and browsing using IE. Possibly not the best analogy but it will do.
Thanks! It's great! Can I ask a question?
When the device's stolen, may be the thieft removed your SIM card and then insert a new one. So how to known a new phone number in that SIM card to you send a SMS?Tks!
maybe it can send sms with phone number whenever a sim card which is not in preconfigured list is inserted.
also another suggestion is, for the phones which do not have GPS, maybe it can send the tower information ? So that it could be used to track where it is based on the tower information ?
i wasn't complaining. i think it's wonderful people are trying to develope new software. i was just giving reference.

When you run RT for the first time, the IMSI of your SIM card is stored. After a new 'boot' this IMSI is verified again. If the new IMSI does not match with the old, you will receive a SMS alerting you. This message has the new number. You must input an emercency mobile number in config tab. This number, of course, must be a mobile number diferent of yours (your wifes, mother, son, or so).

Very simple: copy and rename english.xml and english.htm to french.xml and french.html.
Edit both files and just translate ignoring the words between < and > characters (those are "commands").
Edit language.xml file and insert the lines below before </languages> (last line):
<language>
<code>4</code>
<name>Français</name>
<file>french.xml</file>
<help>french.html</help>
</language>
Today I was roaming around some blogs and stumbled upon an article with some tips to protect your "smartphone", they talked about a software called mSafe, I even downloaded it for test.
Anyway, it does mostly what you want to develop. The site is http://www.motionapps.com. Their apps are intended for Treos but mSafe states that it's compatible with WM5.
Just for your reference.

Well... I'm not familiar with windows mobile programming but I'm a SIM Card programmer. I don't know if you can access STK commands (commands to the sim card) via the Windows Mobile API's but, if you can, there is a function ("proactive command" using the specific SIM terms) called "PROVIDE LOCAL INFORMATION" that gives you exactly this information (and more)...
Hope it helps...

a simpler hack is patch nk.exe once with a nice NOP then allow people to patch it with the old pagepool changer to any value at will =) see raphael elite rc1 nk.exe for reference.
btw does this "dynamic" thing refer to disabled pagepool (when it is set to 0)?

Thank you for the info
Yes, Dynamic Page Pool or Page Pool 0
P.S. I personally prefer to HEX edit... It's as simple as opening the file with a HEX Editor and change a digit in two instances... But yes, for «regular» users it is much simpler to do it as you suggest.
I am an SD Card flash method user

If you despise life use Windows XP
If you have deep and severe death wishes use Windows Vista

Thank you very much, really appreciate this. I am one of those who would like to have the pp of the rom set to zero, but I feel really unsure about doing this myself as I have never used a HEX editor before. So thanx again for your time doing this for people like me.
Btw, I think I read your post somewhere in the ROMEOS thread giving the author credit for setting the pp to zero, but just to know for sure, is the ROMEOS rom set to pp=0 by default (newest 1.40 release)? Thank you

Say nothing of it It's always a pleasure to contribute and to help.
The credit of Raphael ROM's page pool change does not go to ROMeOS2 publisher... It goes to two other users and community contributors. (I won't say who they are. That's a secret )
Yes, your assumption is correct. ROMeOS2 1.40 both initial version and corrected one are Dynamic a.k.a PP0.

um, you realize that the notion of dynamic pagepool is invalid,
i'm not sure who the heck invented this myth; but there is no such thing as a "dynamic" pagepool.
first, CE pagepool != windows pagefile. pagepool is an area that CE uses to page code and memory mapped files from NAND into RAM; it is not a pagefile that is used AS ram, when CE runs out of memory, it runs out of memory, no way around it...
as you know, the main disadvantage of NAND over NOR memory technologies is that NAND must be read/written in blocks, quite large blocks kb in size, the microprocessor unfortunately, needs memory to be byte-addressable. the whole point of the pagepool is to hopefully predict which pages of code the processor might need/use so it doesn't need to fetch from slow NAND, while at the same time reducing the RAM footprint so the entire code need not stay resident in memory the entire time... CE must reserve a preallocated amount at boot for that.
when you set that location to zero, it just tells ce to either disable the pagepool, or to use the OEM default pagepool instead of a preset pagepool.
i hope this dissolves the myth, although i'm 100% sure people will still go nuts over it...

The page pool is a reserved area in memory for the windows mobile kernel.
A ROM in a pocket pc is mainly divided into 2 parts [some other: IPL, SPL, ExtROM but forget it for now]:
- The Kernel
- The OS files [IMGFS] [Some pocket PCs do not have NOR/NAND ROM but a DOC (Disk On Chip) that works like an SD card].
Applications use RAM in two ways.
There is code that runs, and there is data that is created while it is running.
On a NOR device, the code can run directly from the ROM and not be loaded into RAM first. This process is called XIP [eXecute In Place].
NAND devices can't XIP, so their code is loaded into RAM and executed from there.
If you don't have a Page Pool, this code is loaded into normal RAM.
The Page Pool is a mechanism to limit how much code is loaded into normal RAM.
With a Page Pool, we can unload code that hasn't been used in a while and reload it later if we need to.
We can't do that without a Page Pool.
There are portions of the deepest parts of the OS that have to XIP.
If you're on NOR, that code just XIPs like everything else.
Not so on NAND... For a NAND system to boot, it needs to load this code into RAM first and then run it from there.
When the system is running, it can't really tell if it's running from RAM or ROM, so it assumes it's running from ROM and doesn't count this space.
Discussing pool resources and pool resource depletion in general terms and not specifically regarding PPC's...
When a machine boots up, the Memory Manager creates two dynamically sized memory pools that kernel-mode components use to allocate system memory.
These two pools are known as the Paged Pool and NonPaged Pool.
Each of these pools start at an initial size that is based upon the amount of physical memory present in the system.
Pool memory is a subset of available memory and is not necessarily contiguous.
If necessary, these pools can grow up to a maximum size that is determined by the system at boot time.
So, what distinguishes Paged Pool and NonPaged Pool memory is:
The first difference is that Paged Pool is exactly what its name implies - it can be paged out.
The NonPaged Pool cannot be paged out.
Drivers use the NonPaged Pool for many of their requirements because they can be accessed at any Interrupt Request Level [IRQL]. The IRQL defines the hardware priority at which a processor operates at any given time.
Page Pool set to 0 is usually refered to as Dynamic Page Pool because it allows the system to use all available memory as page pool, being it addressed and reserved on a necessity basis.
If you need more information I can provide you with some links regarding Page Pool and it's issues, many provided by Microsoft itself [msdn, that is]...
Remember that this thread is a ROM repository.
It is meant to be directed to general public. Therefore, discussions about this, especially technical ones should be taken to PM and not to open forum, at least in this thread.
You have your opinion and I respect it although I do not share it... Nevertheless users are free to use what they very well please. If you do not like it or if you believe it has no purpose simply direct your attention to other threads
If you take a look at the forum you will conclude that some chefs, respected ones, decided to publish their ROMs with Page Pool set to 0... Don't you wonder why that is?
Cheers

But I remember I asked why custom roms and official roms doesnt come with dinamic page pool by default? ROMeOS seems like to have it only in 1.40, right?
Because its a "new discover" or because some people really dont like it?

Thanks a mil
THANK YOU! The experts in my university's computing and network services said nothing could be done! The registry tweak didn't work! No instant reply from HTC, and yet the solution is as simple as opera:config!
but as you may know ONLY opera web browser is connected to internet.
and the apps like NimBuzz, weather and etc are still unable to connect.
so its better than having nothing
can i ask u where are you from?!
Beirut. And you're right, the settings only apply locally to opera, but its better than nothing. Let's hope they fix it in the near future...
Hi if you want to use proxy for your WiFi one important thing is to setup the connection to connect to Work, not to Internet.
Go to Start->Settings Connections tab, tap Wi-Fi, tap Wireless Networks. Select the network you'd like to connect to (or add new one) and on the first screen you'll see a dropdown named Connects to. Here you have to set it to Work, NOT TO Internet. Apply the settings (if you're adding a new connection, insert all the other data too).
Next go to Start->Settings Connectins tab and tap Connections. Go to tab Advanced and tap Select Networks button. From the first dropdown select My Work Network (if it isn't there create it and name it so). Edit this setting (tap button Edit). Open the tab Proxy Settings. Check both checkboxes and tap on Advanced button. Here you'll have to specify your proxy addresses and ports. For me to get it to work I had to specify HTTP and Socks.
Set this up and apply all settings you have done so far.
Go to Start->Settings Connections tab and tap connections. Go to tab Advanced and tap Select networks button. Now select My Work Network also in the second drop down and apply the changes.
I hope it'll work for you. The whole thing depends on the type of proxy you have and what kind of authentication it uses.
I've tested it on HTC Touch HD (Windows Mobile 6.1) and on Ipaq 114 (Windows Mobile 6.0).
*edit*
I've also successfully tested it on HTC Touch HD2 (Windows Mobile 6.5) and Sony Ericsson Xperia (Windos Mobile 6.1).

That's the most hillarious part You should go for a stand up comedian man!!! 44 posts, huh!! Wow!!! In less than a year! You are true hero ->
Let me just ask you something: you fly here in May 2010, crying (see the icon of the thread) for help about proxy on your phone and TWO WEEKS later you figured it out by yourself using a simple solution opera:config! You must be a genious man. How did you find a complex solution like that in just two weeks?? Seriously I expect an answer!! You should apply for the next american idol as the most talented phone user ever.
Let me ask you another question though. On 9th October 2010 you posted this hillarious line:
but as you may know ONLY opera web browser is connected to internet.

You posted the fifth post here in july, 3 months later there's a post honouring you, of course who would yell at anybody honouring him, even if it's an outdated post. And then, look at this, here I come, 3 months after your last post and you're saying the words above.... Do you see any analogy? A pattern?
You really made my day!! Thumbs up!!
*edit*: I've decided to give you my thanks for that. Can't stop laughing .... seriously.
Hey navidnouri, since you've been so great so far, I'm most certain your reply will be as hillarious as the previous one, so count on another thanks by me!
I've no words, it's one year that i was searching for a solution in order to set my university proxy!!
Thanks!!

I give you right. Maybe I should try. But you know what... following a thread is a question of motivation, as you may allready know. There has to be something attaching to it, if you know what I'm saying.... And now, now, here you come, hillarious, funny, intelligent, who wouldn't want more?
Since you're so generous on advice, here's a thought: A man of your character has most certainly heard of a german comedian Stefan Raab. The thing is, he wrote songs out of quality quotes. So I thought you write a little something out of your last two posts here and publish it on YouTube. Put a little music to it, etc. You know how it goes, right? I'm telling you, you are the material of success. And with such great gadget you own, you could do it directly with your phone and then afterwards even post a tutorial about it here on xda!
Last but not least, there's a slight dissapointment navidnouri... navidnouri, navidnouri, navidnouri..... I put so much hope in you and you didn't answer my questions. Common, be a MAN, show guts, do it. Don't let xda down, it wouldn't be fair.... You don't have to write much, just direct answers, few words, the spelling doesn't matter, grammatic even less, so there shouldn't be anything in your way.... And you know what, I'll give you my thanks (again!), you won't even have to say a curse word or an technical advice. Think about how great this will look on your resume!! Everyone will be able to see how many thanks you've collected and how! And if you'll play along, this thread has a potential to be one of the most viewed on the forum, think about it! You'll be a star! So, enugh of the pep talk, answer the questions navidnouri, for the community's sake!
*edit*: About answering the questions navidnouri... I know some things are just too personal to be publicly accessible, everyone understands that. So if you feel that way about a question, just refer to this edit and skip it.

hey guys m unable to use wifi in my college though any app but it works on stock browser and in opera mobile..
i hv galaxy 3 wid 2.2 froyo
any solution ????
how to enable every app to go though proxy like stock browser ???
my time with the gene is heading towards its end and i'd like to go out with a bang!!
i created this thread to give something back to this wonderful community for all the help and guidance that has been offered to me so far
i've kept the next post as sort of a checklist for new (and experienced) chefs for the stuff that they should include in their ROMs and also a list of things that our users request (based on popularity)
i'll also try and provide little descriptions wherever possible
so i'd like all those here to write down the features/apps/requests/tweaks whatever it is that you have used in your previous/current ROMS that you've liked
i'll go through the posts and add newer items into the list as time goes on
this will serve as a good place for the senior chefs here to contribute bits of their knowledge and as a quick reference index for new or aspiring chefs for things they should be considering while making their own ROMs
so here's a list of things a cook oughta look up while making a ROM
i've grouped the things up into separate catgories like
1] OEM
this group requires comparatively less editing on the chef's part so i figured it best to get it out of the way first
i - the initflashfiles.dat files can be edited to make changes in the default directory locations, file names and shortcut links
ii - i remember having changed the CameraDriver.dll module while trying to get my camera working, so chefs may want to look around for that one
iii - same goes for the sdbus.dll and sdmemory.dll, some of the older SYS builds need these modules to be patched else the sd card is not detected by the phone
iv - for those adding their own CABs or any other files for customization on first boot should make sure that their Config.txt file is edited as per their needs
kitchen crashes sometimes set the contents of this file to default thereby voiding the changes made by the chef
v - edit the mxipupdate_OEMVERSION_100.provxml to add in custom ROM name and date
2] SYS
i - firstly go through all the packages and remove unnecessary items to save some important space on our little GENES
look here for more info
ii - feel free to customize the graphics files in the dpi and dpi res folders
nothing says custom ROM more than custom graphics
iii - for more advance users, you can edit the graphics within the .DLL files in some of the files in the SYS folder
modules may also be recmodded to flat .DLL files to edit and then reversemodded to modules again
iv - various system files can be recmodded to reduce the number of modules in slot 0
here's the reason why
i'll place a link up when i find it
v - some of the files can be replaced to improve the functionality
3] EXT
here's another place for some really deep customization for the chef
instead of writing down every single software package that is available i'm making a list of the must-have softwares that work well on our devices
i'll be starting off with a list of my preferred apps and i'll be adding more apps as the user suggestions come in
i - a registry editing software like PHMRegistry
ii - PPCPimBackup
iii - S2P 0.83 by far the best FREE music player around
you could alternatively use older version like the 0.58 version which had the cover flow feature and a different method of creating the playlist
iv - XDA_UC, simply because it reduces the workload on the user post flash/hard reset and pitches in great for when the chef wants some post-boot customizations to be carried out
v - pocketnester, NES ROMs may not be everyone's cup of tea but it sure as hell provides some endless time-wasting fun
reserved...just in case
Lets work on overclocking our CPU.currently iv been using "omap" to overclock my device to 240Mhz.
Worst part is,just as the device goes to sleep mode,or a manual shut down/restart,the clock speed reduces back to the default 186Mhz.
We either need to edit the Omap executable file or write some code to make it work continuous till the device is active.
If we succeed in this, we'll have ROMs rolled out with default 240Mhz clocking speed as a gift to Gene n the Gene users.
n r u shiftin to a newer device ? which one r u gonnu buy.do let us know.i'll probably shifting to Samsung Galaxy S2. dont wannu wait for the HtC Pyramid.i want the Super AmoLED plus screen in my hands.
I'll need shtdown animation. For overclocking pocket hack master is best(If you have money to purchase it!!!!).

Ya man but it will work with psshutxp but i'm using shutxp not psshutxp (i don't know if there is any difference or not),but it replaces poweroffwarning.exe from windows folder.HTC Animation uses poweroffwarning.exe from PACKAGE_POWEROFFWARNING.I want someone to edit this exe to make it working for HTC Animation
To psychocyst:HTC sense feel on GENE will be expected.I knows that it's impossible to use it on GENE but any other UI that looks like Sense UI
Hi Karan,
Use Omap-264. This has all the advantages u require. It will keep in 264 even after softreset; It will keep in 264 even after power on.

Below 264 is fine. Want to change the clock lower? run omap_OverClock from the startmenu/programs folder. I run it at 216 MHz always. No problem.

Yes. Overclocking is always dangerous. But if u use it judiciously it works wonders. I have not seen any appreciable drain in battery life. I used to get almost 2 days previously. now also i am getting the same amount. May be a couple of hours less. It increases the ram speed correspondingly.
thanks for the heads-up...i'll give it a go and check out the results and post them up
Incoming calls not being displayed
I'm new to this flashing rom and stuff like this, but with ALL my help from this site(thanks to everybody) I had successfully upgraded my rom to Karanz_ULTIMATE v7.12 on my new gene.
But coming to the main point, the MAIN reason for flashing my rom was that i had issues with my stock rom of incoming calls not being displayed(although the ring could be heard to the call on the other end) occasionally. This issue had landed me into some HUGE trouble which scares the crap out of me even today. After a few days of using this newly installed rom the issue surfaced again and now I'm afraid to use this phone any more.
I know for sure there are great GODS in this forum who can solve issues like these in a breeze, so I humbly submit my heartfelt request to please advise a solution. ANYBODY PLEASE for God's sake help me out. PLEASE...
Additional information about my Phone:
onbl 1.17.0000

Any more info anybody needs, I shall give(provided you tell me where to find it).
