Hi
Wonder if anyone can help me. I got the xda with its original rom ie 3.16 and radio stack 4.20 and up till now I just can't even compose a sms message let alone sending it. I have the call centre number correct with the settings and I am connected to vodaphone and has received sms messages ok so far which means I am connected alright with the message centre. It must be some software problem that make it unable for me to compose and send sms messages. I have tried tapping on "New" which has no SMS option there but only Email option and I have tried tapping on a contact name and then "Send SMS" but no response. Under Inbox, I tapped on SMS under Services and then "New" and no response again. Just couldn't compose a sms message. :?
Any other ideas please ?
Man if you only knew!
I've been working on the same problem all day and I mean all day. The only thing that fixed it for me was a hard reset followed by a complete re-install of all my programs. As best as I can figure some were down the line my registry got corrupt.
Hi Qman,
Thanks for reply. I thot I may have to do that as well. One question though- I had my xda unlocked using xda manipulator, will I need to do that again when I hard reset my xda?
Cheers
Vic
No on manipulator!
Thanks Qman
Cold boot restored full functionality of my sms service and phone is still nicely unlocked.
Cheers
Vic
Is anyone else noticing it takes longer than usual (for an android phone) to send an SMS? I sent a 5 message long SMS (700+ characters) and it was on "Sending" for almost a minute. I know it takes longer to send longer messages, but on previous phones (D1, Fascinate), the "Sending" process would work in the background - so I can actually do other stuff on the phone while it sends. But the HTC Messaging app sends in the foreground, so I'd have to wait until it finishes sending to continue using the phone. I assume this is just the HTC Messenger app itself?
No issue w/ that on my end; however, had issues sending/receiving likely due to a previously discussed issue that a reply to number is sent with the messages initially that results in your friends not being able to reply back. A simple reboot seems to fix that for most people or you can disable that option in the messages menu from what I've read... but hadn't heard anything about delays in sending long messages yet...
I'm having trouble with my phone's messaging. I can send texts fine, but I can't send any group messages or MMS messages. I've tried unrooting, updating to the newest OTA update, using a third party texting app, and replacing the SIM card. Nothing works. I can't send or receive group messages or attachments. I tried Go SMS Pro, and when I tried to send group messages, it failed, then sent the message individually to each person. When I tried sending a picture, it said the service was not activated on the network.
This got me thinking it might be something with our texting plan, but everyone else in my family can send and receive group messages and attachments without problems. So it's a problem with my phone only. Does anyone have suggestions?

might try going into your setting and unchecking fastboot .. read somewhere that worked for others ... good luck
Nope, that didn't work, either before or after a reboot. Any other suggestions?
Had a similar issue. I don't know if its because I'm still locked and unrooted but I recieved an error code when I would try to send messages. I actually had to get o the phone with Big Red and they had reconnect me to another network connection of some sorts. Weird.

Sorry, what do you mean you had to "get o the phone with Big Red"? You had to carry it back to Verizon?

This has been solved. I switched my number in January, and the service had been disabled then. I was able to get into a live chat with a vzw customer support guy, and he was helpful enough not only to fix MMS, but also group messaging on my phone. It took a couple of hours after trying in vain to put a password in over the phone, but contacting Verizon is the only way to fix this. If you have rooted your phone (as I had previously), and you still have that ugly "tampered" or "relocked" message at the top of the bootloader, Verizon's live chat system is probably your best bet. Even if you haven't rooted your phone, live chat may be faster. You can skip the "reboot, reset, ask other employees for help" routine you'll probably go through if you go to a physical location.
I think I have the same problem too..
When I'm sending a group message .. one of or two of the messages wont send
Hello everyone
So, I've searched before submitting this post and I didn't find a recent enough thread providing a simple fix for my problem.
I have a very disturbing problem, when I shut down my phone and receive SMS while it's off, when I receive thoses SMS they won't be set at the time they were sent, but at the time I receive them ...
Let's say I turn off my phone at 8.00, a friend send me a text at 8.15, then I turn my phone back on at 8.30, the incoming SMS will show : sent at 8.30
This problem occurs in the stock SMS app but also in ChompSMS.
I'm running a rooted galaxy S4.
So far, I've found two solutions, but the first one isn't satisfiying at all since it will add the time in all my incoming messages.
Ex : my friend send me "Hello", and what will be displayed on my phone is : "Hello (sent at 8.15)"
The second one is this one http://www.xda-developers.com/android/sms-show-sent-time-for-galaxy-s-i9000/
But i'm not sure it will work on my device and not sure that's recommended either.
Can someone help me fixing this ?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english !
I have now had my M9 for 2 days. As with my M8 on 5.0.2, texting seems to restart frequently. There is a delay on incoming messages and every time you start the app it seems to reload messages.
When you start the app the contacts appear but when you go to a contact the messages area is blank, the timing circle appears and many seconds later the messages appear. New messages may or may not appear for an even longer period.
After several texts you get either am 'Messages is Restarting' message or now I am getting an error report and a request to send data . . . .
This same thing that happened when my M8 upgraded to 5.0.2
Has anyone had the same problem or found a resolution . . .
I am not having that issue, but I am using GO SMS Pro and not stock messaging. Have you tried other messaging?
