Dear All,
I remember, there is a tool can open the O2 extend ROM that allow to see what files in the Extend ROM. Can any one tell me what is the name of tool and where can I get it.

The name of this program is ER2003edit.
It depends:
If you want to edit the ms_.nbf in the installer, then take ER2003Edit.
Should you just want to make ExtROM visible, you need a program called ExtendedROMSwitch or just look for a small *.cab file containing the registry setting to change that - should be no problem to find that...

Hi,
Im sorry if this has been discussed in earlier topics. Im wondering if its possible to include commercial applications such as SPB Pocket Plus, Pocket Informant etc... , into the extended ROM ? - this way you don't have to install them again in case of a hard reset. If it is possible , can someone please specify the details ....
Thanks.
you can add any application to the extended ROM if you have the CAB(s) file of the installation.
First, you should unlock and unhide the extended ROM using the required tools from this forum. Then add your cab file to the extended ROM, and modify the file named "Config.txt" by adding the new cab file name among the rest of cab files. After that, you should lock and hide the extended ROM back.

Thank for the reply. However - most commercial applications such as those mentioned on my original post do not come in single cab files. They are usually come in single installation .exe files/
Any ideas ?
Check your applications installation directory or the 'Program files/Microsoft Activesync/yourprogram' for the CAB files.
and often exe install files for pocketpc
can just be renamed to zip and you can open them and copy out the cab
file you need
How to?
Extended ROM
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\3rdversion]
"MSYSTEM"="1.10.124 WWE"
Change the MSYSTEM value to your fancy.
so i can edit that and capture the extrom and make an setup.
or can it be done direclty with er2003 or another tool? in the rom file.
thx
any 1?
in your extrom is probably a CAB called Version_blablabla.CAB
This is what sets the key in the registry: modify that.
do you know a program witch i can edit a cab file
winrar doesnt do it its view only :S

Then my rom is complete so i cant post it here!!!
ocp Wince Cab manager

I've been playing around with the various tools that have been created by members here but because they're so new there isn't much in terms of documentation so...
Could someone briefly explain to me how I would insert a program into the ROM kitchen?
Let's say I had a CAB or setup.exe on my PC, how would I get the Pocket PC program into the ROM?
Surely someone knows how to do this?
Do your homework and read the threads about each rom kitchen, this depends on the kitchen you use and the program you want to add, some have several files, dll, reg keys, etc.. others are as simple as a single exe file... basically you need to exctract the cab and add the relevant files to the rom, if needed edit initflashfiles to place shortcuts in proper location, and if it contains registry keys then edit default.hv or user.hv to add the registry keys there.
Hello all ,
I'm a happy user of Shep's 6.5 rom.
But i would like to cook rt (remote tracker a antitheft aplication) into the rom.
the rom is protected , so extracting it with a kitchen en recooking doesn't work.
Also tried flashing-> dumping into part0x.raw -> extracting , but also no luck.
so cooks i ask you, is there a way to do this??
thanks , arnold
Hi, yes, far easier would be to ask for a kitchen and use that, but barring that;
You can dump the rom, but do not split it into packages (you will need to manually dump as the kitchen will try to split into packages automatically)
Once dumped you'll have all the files in a single \dump folder.
Now add your files to it, then open default.hv in program CeRegEditor
manually add your registry entries or import them into the registry hive, and save it
now cook the rom (again can't use the kitchen, have to do it manually, since your source is already a single \dump folder)
this will give you the source rom + whatever you added To look at the manual steps you will need to do, look at the .cmd and .bat files in the kitchen.
ok will try that ,
but strange that automatic extracting by the kitchen hangs on "protected rom" and manual it works.....
But hey...your the kitchen master
thanks
Protected roms don't dump correctly in the kitchen because the scripts are designed to work around .dsm files.. and the .dsm files are stripped on a protected rom
You can however still manually dump and get a \dump folder, flat folder with all files (as it is stored in the ROM)
Still possible to work with this folder, however the kitchen(s) are not designed to. As it is more difficult.
okey , got it......
even made myself a little kitchen to dump and rebuild the roms
(will post it later if it works, have to flash my phone to test it)
All files in the dump dir seems to be in the phone's \windows dir...
is there a way to place files in other dir's , or do i have to do this by adding cabs to the config.txt file?
Anyway , thans for the help.
works like a charm..
posted it here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3612337
I'm out of idea, any help appreciated!!!
When I'm trying to modify or delete any file inside the operator pkg, the default configuration for gprs internet is gone, modify the dsm file doesn't help.
The office 2010 cooked and installed from market place reacts differently, the cooked one when clicking word 2010 open up a blank docx document, needs to ok out and browse to template folder to choose template, but the installed opens up the template folder directly for you to choose doc or docx document. Is there a way to modify cooked one to reacts same as installed? import registry from installed one doesn't help, replacing installed files to kitchen doesn't help.
