When I turn on my XDA 1 it doesn't seem to boot up, it just stays on the initial "02" scree. I can access Boot loader and run diagnostics which appear be ok, please help !
maybe a program is set to start up which cause it to freeze
if you wish you could try to hardreset it this should remove any
program which are trying to startup and fails
of cause this will cause all your data to be deleted
Hello Steve,
If you still check out xda-dev let me know if you ever solved this problem. I have an identical problem now and I have tried everything from soft reset thru hard reset to upgrading ROM via SD card.
Nothing's worked so far so if you did find a solution I'd be real grateful if you let me know what it is.
Thanks,

Oh my oh my...
I used my XDA normally early this morning, I talked to someone, and received some SMSs. Later at around 10.30AM I received another SMS (it did the sound and shown 1 new text message) and when I was going to read it it was freezed... I couldn't do anything. The backlight was off and it didn't come on when I tapped on the screen, so I did a soft reset and the backlight turned on, the version was shown in the screen but it didn't boot, I did then a hard reset (lamenting the loose of all the messages and stuff) and it booted. About an hour later I decided to make a call... It was frozen again. Soft-reset didn't make it boot. I can access the bootloader and the RAM tests and everything shows up as good, except for the screen test. It shows a cross like the one on WM2003 used to align the screen. It works on on both crosses that are down. The ones on top don't click and to make them disappear I have to tap in the middle of the screen and then it says failed. I did this test in the first hard reset and it didn't work but when WM2003 started I was able to align the screen like I always did and it worked perfectly as always.
I made it boot once again but it was slow and delayed... now it just freezes in the Windows mobile screen even after many hard resets.
I believe I'm in deep sh*t now
Let me know if there's anything I can try or if you solved it aicon...
I was expecting to do a rom upgrade via SD when I get home but you said you tried that so I'm out of hope
Thanks for any help!!
Marton
P.S.: My ROM is 6.24/4.01.12.....
HEYYYYYYYY!!! I turned it off with the hard reset pin and now I turned it on to check the version numbers to post them here and it booted... It is not slow... I even started the StuntCar Extreme 3D game and it works fine!!!! (It is on the storage card and it runs without installing)
I even received an SMS that I believe was on the network waiting for my phone to come on to send it... I did read it well...
Hope it stays like that and it was just trying to scare me... I have 40% battery and this morning I just took it out of the charger at 100%. Very strange because the battery lasts at least two days with normal use...
Will post again if something happens... wish me luck
Hello Steve,
I've actually moved on to the XDA 2 now. Been using it for quite a while as I never did get the XDA 1 working right...
Since you haven't posted again I hope yours is behaving itself now...
Oh Yes, don't ask me why, but it is working... I still don't understand what happened...
XDA2's are way expensive than XDA1's... will have to wait a little to get one of those

Hi, I need to downgrade from WM2005 to be able to use my Tomtom Navigator on holiday in Spain but it just won't let me!
I've entered the bootloader screen and then run the wm2003upgrade app but after about 30 seconds the device switches off. I've tried everything i can think of but am hoping that you experts out there may be able to help.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
thanks, coj
Press "Power Button" + "Reset Button" to go to bootloader screen then try to reflash it again...
still no joy!
thanks but i have tried that (about 5 times)!
you can try this
do a hard reset win2005 version then go to the start screen and format your storage on the menu
befoure the xda completly boots press to bootloader mode and reflash.
also remove any suspend power befoure hard reseting the device maybe some setting gets stored somehow
this as worked for me the first time i downgraded
and even after i reflash some settings like owner name was allready there so i did format the storage then downgraded.
nope!
thanks for the tip, but again it just turns off. no suspend settings are set.
try restart your computer.
Is your battery fully charged !
Try flashing back to the original 1.66 wm2003 rom, thats what i had to do, then up to 2003se then back to wm2005.....
Just my 2 cents
Are you using the power supply also?
:?
thanks but still nowt
thanks for your help, but it still just switches off (leading to a country id error)...i'm going insane!!
Have you done the WM2005 hard reset? This is power + record + camera + reset hole for 5 seconds.
Once that's done and you use the record & camera buttons to select yes on format all the options, reset it again and put into bootloader by power + center d-pad + reset.
Make sure there is power to the device though while you do this, obviously any settings for power off make no difference in the bootloader.
Then you should be able to flash anything you like.
I have been between WM2003se and WM2005 3 times so far, and before that between 3 other ROM images frequently.
nope! now stuck in bootloader!
still no joy. tried that but now i'm stuck in the bootloader. it still switches off, but now i can't hard reset, it just stays in the bootloader saying 'serial' when i disconnect it from the docking station. i've even tried leaving the battery out for half an hour but nothing. think its well and truly dead...sniff
ahhhh, I have seen that once before, is this plugged directly into a USB port on the PC or is it going through a hub?
Best results are always directly into the PC's USB controller.
i'm losing the will to live...
its plugged into the pc directly, it has AC power connected, i've tried it on a newly formatted laptop in addition to the PC.
thanks for your suggestions, guys, i do appreciate it. i'm also starting to see the funny side of it...that little machine just doesn't want to play ball...
One last suggestion then, try with a different USB cable/cradle possibly? Could have a faulty plug that's got a slightly dodgy connection or something.

I don't think so cojones... If you're still able to get in the BootLoader, chances are you can re-flash it again...
Just be patient and keep trying.
You mentioned Country ID Error... Maybe you will have to edit the ROM in order to reflash...
Good luck,
Rayan
the rain in spain...
well i'm in spain now and have just done a 600km round trip using a paper map...whats that all about? would've been 500km with Tomtom
i've left my xda II at home to discharge, hope i can get it going when i return! thanks for all of your suggestions.
alas no
after 5 days draining the backup battery the situation remains the same...my xda is dead. looks like there is no hope.
hello cojones
are you sure you are using the right version off the software? because you get a country id error! Also when i upgrade or downgrade a rom, the screen show nothing when erasing the rom, so it appears to be off, but in fact after 1 or 2 minutes it shows being updated.
My mainpoint first: are you using the countryid unlocked version for updating your device?
Try to use this one instead...
This does not validate country.
Good Luck!
thanks for these tips, on running the upgrade above it immediately shows error 103: ROM image not found and suggests that i download the correct rom update to my pocket pc and try again. I don't fully understand what this is asking me to do!
Hi all,
As the title says, I can't get Sense to load. Any help/advice, preferably me not having to HR, would be much appreciated.
Here's a bit of background info: Yesterday afternoon I noticed my phone was running very low on battery power, I think it was down to 3%, fortunately I was at home so it wasn't a problem.
I plugged the phone into the wall charger and left it. About 4 hours later I went to unplug the phone expecting to find a fully charged up battery. However, the phone was turned off, I very rarely turn my phone off. Puzzlement followed for a second or two until I realised I hadn't switched the plug switch on. What a dummy!!!
Therefore, the phone had powered down through having no battery power. Sense has not loaded since. Would this cause Sense not to load??
I've had a prior problem with Sense not loading and I did a Hard Reset, I couldn't see what else I could do.
But I'm hoping someone quite a lot more knowledgeable than myself maybe knows a way round this without resorting to a HR.
Thanks for any help.
Anyone please?
If you still have the origional ROM running i would say bring it back to the shop from which you got it from and let them repair it
Otherwise i would say try to install HSPL and push another ROM to your phone so that will repair the fault. Installing ROMS wont take to long

Thx for the reply.
Yes I'm still running original ROM although I updated the original 1.43 ROM to 1.72 via the HTC website. I don't yet feel brave enough to flash a custom ROM. Although this might be the right time to do it now. However, if there is anyone who may know a workaround for this without having to flash a custom ROM or hard reset, I would be very grateful.
Thx.
This is not a useful post but i had the same on mine, and had the same update line as you. Out of interest were you running GTX when the freeze happened?
Both times i had to done to me was on the GTX theme, atm not running it due to the effort of reinstalling everything after a HR, i feel your pain!

No GTX theme on my phone and the phone didn't actually freeze. As mentioned in my original post, the problem has come about. I think, due to the phone powering off through lack of battery power. This was due to me not switching the plug switch on after having put the phone on charge.
Thx for the suggestion anyway.

Thx for the link, I'll take a look and report back.
Cheers.
That happened to me couple days ago. Tried everything but nothing helped. Had to hard reset in the end.
Hello everyone,
To be honest, it's been some time since I've been here, back when I knew how everything on this forum worked...
I kinda forgot, so I'm just posting this HELPME!? thread
This is my problem:
About 1.5 years ago I downloaded a ROM, and put it on my phone, and it was working just fine. However, 3 weeks ago it became really annoying, i'll explain what my problem was:
My phone would randomly freeze when i was doing things, these things could vary from "sending a text message" to "opening my 4th opera tab".
After that it wouldn't respond unless I reset it. However, when starting up again after resetting it would do a few possible things.
1. It's freeze at the first startup screen.
2. It's keep switching between unlock and "pin-screen", and when it was working again, it'd freeze.
3. It'd start up, and after about 5 seconds buzz like 5 times, then freeze.
When i left it on frozen the battery and phone would turn very hot as well =(
So, I tried a hard reset, but that didn't work.
After that i went to the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
I followed the instructions, installed the right Radio (2.12.50), and installed the ROM ( Energy.Leo.21916.Sense2.5.NLD.Cookie.2.0.Jul.07.7z ).
I remembered how to intall these things, so I think i've done that right.
So, after that it seemed to be working fine, and I was really proud and happy.
Now my phone has frozen again, and starting up was an issue again...
Does anyone know what my problem is? And what would be even better, what i can do to solve it?
Please let me know <3
Adios <3
Little Update:
So, I've been carrying my HTC HD2 around with me again, and then it started again...
It froze when I tried to send a text, and after that would freeze or vibrate (a few times) during the start-up...
It's really anoying =( If I'd have to estimate my phone's uptime a day...
It used to be 24h a day, now it's more like... 4 hours a day, with 2/3 hours of trying to get it working :Z
That could be hardware related. Possibly processor overheating. I would download the latest stock rom and fash it to see if it sorts the problem. If not it will need to be sent of to HTC to be replaced.
Hey, guys, I know there are a lot of these issues with a lot, if not all, of the HTC smartphones, but I've only seen a few of these for the HTC Radar, and they all seem to give the same answers. Hopefully my explanation of the problem will help!
So, I got the phone thanksgiving weekend 2011, so I've had it for about a year. One day around the beginning of April this year, my phone randomly began a restarting loop, where it would gradually restart itself from a blank white screen over and over, then it went to the HTC screen over and over, and then periodically switched between the HTC screen and the black "Windows Phone" load screen over and over again. I tried taking off the battery cover and leaving it for a couple of minutes and then hours, but I put it back and it just kept rebooting. I was left without a phone for about two days.
On the second day, I put it on the charger and left it in my dorm while I was in class all day, and when I came back, it was rebooting still, but I noticed that it always made it to the "Windows Phone" logo loading screen and then restarted. After about 4 reboots, it went back to normal and I was able to use the phone. After the next couple of months, it stopped doing it in such a long period of time, but the battery usage went up almost 30-40% than what it used to be. Once in a while, it would reboot once, but then it would be back to normal.
This time, in late October, it started the reboot thing again, but this time, only going up to the HTC screen and looping that. I tried taking the battery cover off again and leaving it for hours, but same problem now. So I decided to leave it off for a day. By this time, I had my HTC Desire HD as backup, but it was unlocked, and at the time when I bought it, I didn't know anything about HSDPA numbers, so I could use my T-Mobile SIM, but no mobile network, since it's a Telus/AT&T phone.
I tried charging it, but this time, it lasted for a whole week. After rebooting over and over, it would last 3 hours, then stop because the battery would die out. So I just left it, and left it, and weeks went by, and my warranty had long since expired, so I couldn't go to HTC about this. I even called them to see what I could do, and they told me to do a Factory Reset, well... here is a list of the things I tried:
- IMAGE CRC: At first I didn't know what this was, and so I looked it up. After finding out what it was, I tried it, and I got two numbers: BL CRC-0xD19F79E1 and OS CRC-0x4CC706B. I looked those up on the internet and got nothing. I restarted the phone, and nothing happened at all. (If there was something else I was supposed to do here, please tell me!)
- Factory Reset: This was the LAST thing I wanted to do, but I had no choice and I tried it, hoping the error would be fixed. So I scrolled down to it, everything seemed to be normal, it gave me a warning, and I clicked it ... I was very suspicious of this, because as soon as I clicked "Factory Reset", it said "Reset complete. Press Volume Down to restart". I mean IMMEDIATELY after. Now, I KNOW that Factory Resets take much longer than an instant to actually have happened. But I restarted anyway. ... Nothing, still. I tried it several times after that, only to get the same result.
Those are the two options I tried, besides looking on the internet... if I can avoid buying a new Radar, I would like to, at all costs, because the next time I have a decent amount of money, I would like to save it for something else. Is there anything else I could try to resolve this issue, or at least gain more information on the problem?
Thank you all very much for reading my post!

May be it is a Hardware problem. Why you don't try to put HSPL and to cook custom rom ? I do this on mine few days ago and now the phone is more useful than before. I cooked HD2O ROM and till now working fine for me. When you change bootloader with HSPL may be it will work out if it is a Software problem. Also you need to change Radio Firmware other wise the device can not boot. When I am doing HSPL a few times phone just loop restarts and not start but after I do everything like it was in treads here and flash new radio the phone is working fine now. But may be there is a Hardware problem.

Thank you very much for responding! So just to be clear, how exactly do I go about flashing a ROM on the Radar, and a new radio? On Android phones, its much easier to root the device or simply place the ROM folder in there and make it work. I have no experience with doing this to a Radar, as I was previously led to believe that this was impossible. Should I just browse this forum?

Yes just browse this forum but only section about Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking. You will find DFT exclamation of how to install HSPL. In mine it was very easy because I not receive Country ID fail my phone was buy in Europe. If you receive Country ID error you need to proceed with goldcard it is explained there but first proceed without goldcard if it work it is very easy. Also when you proceed SPL2.05 it is not clear in the topic but you need to be in bootloader so you should start your phone with VolUp and VolDn keys pushed this is not explained in the topic and I waist a lot of time till figured out. After that just download one of the 7.8 ROMs here in Radar section and write it down. Also download new radio and use some RUU to put it on the phone before the ROM other wise the phone can not boot. Try and after that if you have problems write down here.
MY RADAR TURNED BACK ON! I don't know exactly what happened, but after a couple of reboots, the battery indicator flashed and then it rebooted twice until finally turning on the full amount.
Tonyco1 -- Thank you very much for staying with me and replying to my request! Although what you suggested is not needed for my booting issue, I'm going to try it anyway to see if I can actually boot 7.8! Thank you again.
