Mixing Files from different Upgrade. - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hi, just asking something.
Is it possible to mix files from different updates.
i.e use the OS and the Radio Rom from the i-mate update (1.66.131)
and the extended rom from the o2 UK update ?

Sebastian

How to take new ROM from phone, so it can be shared by all?

Forum user MikeyCollins has had his XDA2 reflashed by O2 with UK ROM version 1.66.
This is newer that any official user available O2 UK ROM, as the latest build on the UK site/for UK customers is 1.60.50
This new ROM, at very early inspection, features a ClearType tuner much like some IPAQ's have etc.
What he wants to know, and I do too, given that I would like to install it, is how do you 'reverse engineer', if at all, the ROM, so that he can copy it from his phone, to PC, so this can be tried out by others?
Can it be done? Do any of you clever chaps know how?

but if the file you end up with on your pc is really nbf i'm not sure
maybe somebody else knows

Qtec 2020 Rom Update (Not O2, Not Orange or whatever)

Hello,
I am looking for the latest Rom update For my Qtec 2020.
I Currently have 1.66 WWE
I need 1.72 WWE
Etended Rom 1.72.800 (i think)
And radio version 1.17 or later.
Can someone help me to upgrade my Hymalaya ?
Where Can I get these Files ?
So it is without Provider !
Thanx in advance.
The provider specific bits are in the ExtRom.
So in fact you can use any 1.72.00 upgrade file and delete the ms_.nbf file before proceding.
Afterwards you can fill your Extended Rom with the applications you want using the Extended Rom Unlock tools.
BTW: This is always a better solution because using a 'wrong' ExtRom could get you into CountryID trouble with the next upgrade.
There are numerous posts with 1.72.00 rom upgrades in it, but I  would recomend my RUU172902WWE upgrade. It is documented what the files in the ExtRom all do, so its simple to skip the operator specific ones.
1.72WWE
Hello,
I have trouble finding the Rom you describe.
Do you have a download link for me ?
Thanx
This is the thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=11781&highlight=ruu1729*
I have upgraded with http://www.qtek.nu/files/RUU172752WWE.zip and it works fine. However do not forget to first backup and then Hard reset the device before upgrading

T-Mobile MDAII ROM update with BlackBerry Software

Has anyone tried out the new german MDAII T-Mobile BB ROM update ?
http://www.t-mobile.de/business/blackberry/software/1,7968,11445-_,00.html
What ROM, Radio, etc. versions are included in the update ?
Is it possible to upgrade a Qtek2020 WWE with the german ROM update just by changing the operator ID and language ID within the nbf files ?
Thanks for your Help!
Best Regards
A.

I tried to upgrade my Qtek2020 with T-Mobile ROM and after changing operator ID, it works really fine.

Andreas
using the BB update ...
Hi Andreas,
but you have a GER version of the QTek 2020 – dont you ?
If not - did you also change the language ID?
Which version of the ROM and Radio, etc. does your device show now – after the upgrade?
Do you use your QTek as a BB client or not?
C.
What Rom Version
Please post your rom version for the new t-mobile bb ger
Is it the 1.78 ?
its rom version 1.7201ger
rom date 03/16/04
and it works fine

Installing features from another extended Rom

Hi there,
my TC 500 with G4 chip and original (T-Com) ROM needs some extras.
My cellphone provider o2 has its own Rom, now the question: I heard there are two things, ROM and Extended ROM. Is it possible to keep my ROM and take some of the .cab files from the Extended Rom from O2 and simply install them?
Both Roms are german Roms, so I don't need to unlock cid (country id), right?
Or is ROM and Extended ROM the same? Some confusion here...
The thing I need is a "homezone symbol" that o2 uses in its *-Rom.
A last question, is it even possible to use the o2 rom from their downloadsource o2online.de because it's the same language???
