Hi all!
I've an Imate (qtek2020) with installed in a 1.72wwe english rom.
I'd like to know if is there a way to modify the vocabulary installed that pops up when you write an sms by the keyboard, for example, and suggests other words. Now it suggests me only words in english but i'm italian and so, perhaps it's possible to substitute the file that links to the vocabulary (if there is one) with one in italian.
I don't know if you understand me
Sorry for my english and thanks for the answear!
ciao ciao
Mario
with 2002 or was it 2000 you could exchange the dictionary that word use
with word97's ( pc ) dictionary but for some reason ms stoped it in newer roms
i havent found any info about being able to change the dic that sms and outlook uses (because for some unknown reason it's not the same that word use)
i cant claim to know much about roms in other languages then english but would an italian xda2 rom not have the rigth dictionary ?
if so flash your xda2 with an italian rom
Ok, but having anyway the italian rom, i don't know witch files is used by windows mobile 2003 and also, how to extract it in the right place.
I think is not so simple this question!

I think i will buy a TyTNII in ENG so i can get new update faster as the Italian version...
But don`t forgett at the Moment the Titan is not sold in Italy so no Italian version....

i needed to know if it's possible to switch between languages...somehow, in terms of keyboard layout & word dictionary for SMS.

Hi Benny73, yes, I am looking for the Italian language pack too, I don't so much care about the T9 for Italian, just the language pack for the rest of the phone. It seems silly that HTC don't make it available as standard or even just as a download.
Anyone else out there got any ideas please?
Same problem

Hi nemetis, the "official" answer from HTC is...
They can not give me the Italian Language in the phone because....
It comes down to the licensing agreement for windows on the device, because certain countries have different licensing agreements with Microsoft about the software, Italy being one of them.
So, the only way to get an Italian ROM is to get someone (like yourself) who has one, downl load it, change your device to accept ANY ROM for THAT device, i.e. not just the set of ROM's it was allowed to accept and then you can load it.
To be honest... I bought the phone as a present for my wife for Christmas *yes, she's Italian) and she has said not to worry, she is fine with it being all in English.
So I think I'll just leave it the way it is.
Thanks for offering your ROM though.
I have the WWE ROM version but XT9 didn't offer German as input language only English, Romanian, Slovak, Czech, Polish, Turkish, Dutch, Portuguese, Hungarian, Greek.
So, I had a look in the registry and the windows folder.
In the windows folder you can find several kdb and ldb files.
In the registry you will find under HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9 the key AvailableLanguages which defines the available languages in the menu. The coding for the different languages can be found under HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\LdbFiles.
What I did was to replace 0118 (Romanian) with 0107 (German) and after a reboot I had the German language available.
See also attached screenshots.
So, for Czech and Italian it should work the same, just look for CSlsUN_xt9.ldb for the Czech language (#105) and for ITlsUN.ldb for Italian (#110).
If you don't have these files in the windows folder, for your convenience I have attached them, but I don't know if you need other files (or changes) to get not prepared-for languages to work.
Good luck.
I just found this tutorial that explains XT9 and internationalization very detailed. Looks like I tweaked the registry right on first try.
can you please send me the romanian .ldb and kdb from yout phone
because i try to make my phone witch is a norwegian modell to get the romanian t9 or xt9 to work corectly on this s740
Romanian .ldb and kdb
Sorry for the late reply. But I wasn't logged in for a long time.
Here they are.
Hi!
I recently bought a Touch Dual from Orange UK, and i'd like to know if i could change it's language to Portuguese, i prefer the windows mobile in English, but when i'm writing a text message in Portuguese, the T9 is in English.
Regards
Thank you
Hi!
if yuo prefer English yuo need only select yuor language in xt9 options!
you have the original rom or a cooked one?
I prefer Portuguese on messages.
The ROM is in English, but this is ok for me.
What i wanted is to disable the T9.
Hi, is it possible to change T9 language ( from english to polish) without changing the whole rom to polish?
any reply on installing T9 languages?
Did you ever get an answer ?
I just got an HTC Hero in Singapore and it only comes with English and Chinese. I would however like to add French as an input language. Any idea ?
you need a custom HTC_IME for the language keybaords
so far the only ones I have encountered are the:
HTC_IME: english
HTC_IME: chinese
HTC_IwinnI: Japanese
Hello ,
I found a Palm PVG100e for sale for a fair price. Its model name is PVG100E-2A1PWEA.
But it only has English, Spanish and Portuguese "on board" languages. The seller says "no language pack available". But I guess he omits "unless you root the phone".
What options do I have to change language to french on a Palm PVG100e ?
• Is it possible to manage language packs keeping its stock ROM (if I root the phone) ?
• Is it possible to switch to a stock french ROM ? If yes, where can I find stock french ROMs ?
• Is it possible to switch to a french LineageOS ROM ?
Thank you for your help !
Have a nice day !
Cobus.
Hello french compatriot !
Just found your thread because i'm also interested by this phone.
The simplest solution (without touching system ROM already installed) is to use one of those apps that can change locale (i.e. language displayed by apps).
It means all installed apps that already support french language (like google apps) will then display in french. But the system UI (settings, menus) and Palm apps will still display in English.
This app for example seems to do the job : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.langs.locales
I think this is the easiest solution, but will keep you in touch when i have received the phone
Hello zyva73,
Thank you for your smart and easy (albeit partial) solution !
I still hope for a complete french interface, but your clever idea is a good start !
Have a nice day !
Cobus.
If you root the device as described here ( https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...fixes-script-2020-03-11.4052477/post-83354187 ) you can chose French as your system language on the palm
Thank you cfkf for your input !
The howto you mention is a root + debloat method, as far as I understand it.
It is my understanding, that french is not included in some european phones.
The one I mentioned only would have English, Spanish and Portuguese "on board" languages.
I might be wrong, but to me, rooting a phone gives access to things that were present, but locked before.
Do you mean that french is present but locked on some PVG100E phones ?
I thought that french was absent to save space…
I'm not sure, but my experience is this:
I bought my phone through Ebay from a German supplier. When I first booted it, my only language options were German, English (UK) and English (US). There might have been Spanish, I'm not sure, but no more.
But after I rooted, I got a whole list of languages to select from. I even got to select Dutch (my native language). I am not 100% sure French was in the list (I don't have the palm on me right now) but if it has Dutch I'd be rather surprised that it wouldn't have French
EDIT: just to clarify, you only have to root, the debloat process is not necessary to unlock the other languages.
EDIT2: my device is a PVG100E, so European version also
Thanks a lot for your explanations !
I just checked now that I have had access to my Palm: with me, unfortunately it seems that while Dutch is available, French is not. Very strange since, well, French is insanely more widespread...
Still, rooting seems to unlock more languages and maybe some Palms have French? Might be worth a try.
Thanks for your investigations !
Can you please list the available languages ?
There may be PVG100E models for nothern Europe (with german, dutch, etc.) and others for southern Europe (with italian, french, portugese, etc.).
So in my system settings, apart from Dutch I currently have:
- Catalan
- German
- English
- Euskara (Basque)
- Galego (Galician)
- Portuguese
- Turkish
No Italian, so if you have this, this suggests that language options might be different between phones.
I'm under the impression that when I first booted the phone after root, I had more options, but I might be mistaken.
Strange that it would have a series of languages that are extremely uncommon (I didn't even know that Galician was a language - no offense) and it wouldn't have French... Maybe there are some legal constraints in Spain that any device that is sold has to have the regional languages as well?
In any case, even apart from languages it's a good idea to root and then debloat your palm. Does miracles for the otherwise atrocious battery life of this device.
Your phone has Catalan, Euskara (Basque) and Galego (Galician), three regional languages from Spain, but not spanish ! This is so strange !
There must be various languages sets for PVG100E phones.
The PVG100E-2A1PWEA version had spanish as a standard language.
What is the complete name of your PVG100E ?
