Can all of these tools apply to XDAII - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Very very new to all of this , and would like to know if all or any of these tools and instuctional replys, apply to the XDAII and if not ,,how exactly is one able to know which is which??
As a new new newbie, what I am tyring to do is change my ROM/radio stack??? to some thing other than 1.60.00WWE because I have bought and paid for the KSE True FAX software v 2.08 which is suppose to work on my XDAII ,but they also say on their web site that it will not work on the XDAII if the rom version is 1.60.00WWE ,,so I am rather perplex as to what to do ,,, and very worried that I will mess things up if I don't know exactly what is required and what sequince it has to be done in ,,, I also have a SD card reader and a 512 SD card and I am runing Windows XP on my PC,,, I have a separate fax number on my sim as well as my normal cell number can some one be so kind as to explain what I should do, I am to very cluded up with binaries and so forth Please help us New Newbies very much appreciated

hmmm, XDA or 256MB SD card did it again .... lost SD content

I mean I have lost everything from my SD 256MB lexar card - some vital data and some mp3, family pictures etc ... all of varoius size, hmmm
1. Flash Format v2.60 from CNetX has:
- some problems with formatting SD card
- then after card -reinsert it has formatted it FAT32, 512 sector size parameters
- all verify+ repair operations executed flawlessly afterwards
2. I have received XDA that has been flashed with WM 2003 from T-Mobile (marked test only - not for sale, but in my humble view it does not matter)
hardware version PW10B1
sys ver 4.00.21 ENG
ROM date 08/11/03
radio ver 4.21.00
protocol 32S54
does anyone has an idea as to what to do to stop self-format SD card ?? is that a faulty SD card or something messed up with the OS ??
regards, monika
Hi ..
I read many posts regarding this issue and mostly related to TMO pre release ROM ugrades including 4.00.21. Why don't you upgrade to the latest official release 4.01.00 Maybe this issue is solved.
does it mean SD card is OK ?? but OS version fails ....
oki, that makes me decide on below mentioned items :
1. I do have apparently US version of XDA as it has dual band 900/1900 :? and that makes me think before flashing the unit with an english but UK version ... unless it is harmless :?: so the question is - is it going to work ?? even when I decide to visit US sometime next year
2. does it mean that pre-release version of T-mobile ROM which I have makes some SD work and some don't ?? my other card seems to work fine ... I am getting confused
3. where to get the most recent windows PPC phone edition 2003 eng version that has not that problem with SD cards ??
regards and thnx for your inputs
monika

if your network supports 900 MHz, OR your XDA have the 900/1800 radio option (GSM menu ... power + soft reset then calendar button) then it's likely that you can use your XDA with any RSU supported by your network.

Not proven to be secured in this point but you can get it from
ftp://tmobile:[email protected]:21
Good luck ...
I have liked it .... already downloading
although after having been read those horrible stories of one group member from US having problems with GPRS setup and functioning .... I am thinking about it
but have you been testing that version by yourself ???
hmmm, and when flash fails where I can get the operational copy of WM 2003 so that I can restore my setup to date
which is:
sys ver 4.00.21 ENG
ROM date 08/11/03
radio ver 4.21.00
protocol 32S54
regards, monika
And of course ... thanks for the file
I apperciate your prompt response
hope that is going to work for me
Yes, I tested it my self but not for so long tho ... and I didn't face any problems. You can get ROM 4.00.21 and O2 RSU 4.21 from www.yorch.net
Good luck ...
16MB SD card didn't fail to operate for over 48hours
I still havent't made up my mind to upgrade to the most recent software, mostly due to being afraid of loosing my piece of investment, heh

monika
after having received an advice ....
I have locked my 256MB SD card .... no content has been missing since then ... hurrrrrrrra !!!! 8)
seems like my problem is solved for now, at least until .. new and official T-mobile US ROM upgrade WM2003 arrives

stupid rom questions

I understand (basically) the makerom idea but what I don't get is why you would want to put all the other programs available in the kitchen in ROM. do the run better there? or faster?
why we want to make own ROM is your question, right ?
Because your own ROM can put anything you want and remove everything that you don't need such as operator that you will never ever use.
the Second reason is when you have trouble to Hard reset without warning. Your device will comeback with program that you desire. Do not need to install everything again or need to wait until you back to home and restore from your computer.
That should be the reason that I try to make my owned ROM.
OK, so you are saying that if I load the programs into rom instead of ram that when I reset(hard) all programs are reloaded?
Do the programs work better or faster if they are in rom instead of ram?
yes. Surely right.!!!! all programs installed in the rom must access fater than any other ram no matter how fast your memory card is.
OK, but more stupid ROM questions
My unit was originally an unlocked German T-Mobile branded MDA.
I flashed it with an O2 UK ROM to get English.
I use it with T-Mobile US.
I don't need all the O2 apps.
Device info:
OS=USB 32 1.60.00 WWE
Device=PH10
Operator Name=O2
Language=WWE
Ext ROM version=1.60.50
Radio=1.10.00
I am unclear as to which base rom to pick in the rom kitchen http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org/
This one? 4.01.16 ENG. Isn't that rom for WM2003 for the T- MO pocket pc phone?
Should I use the ruu172126wwe_imate.exe, file version 4.1.100.1332 instead?
my head hurts
*** ATTENTION ***
ROM's from the ROM kitchen are only for XDA I not for XDA II.
Don't f**k up your device by trying to update your device with ROMs from the ROM kitchen.
Regards,
mark
maybe LumpiStefan should put some kind of warrning on his kicthen so people notice that it's xda1 only

I want to upgrade to 2003SE, But I'm helpless... any help??

I need to upgrade to WM2003SE, but I really read a lot of topics in this forum about that, I heard some people say that this version is good and has no problems, and some else say that it is full of problems. This is my very first time to try upgrading my XDA, I heard that it may become just a piece of junk if anything fails.. so I am very worried about that guys.
So I need 2 things from you:
I need to know if this upgrade worth it or not, will my device die if anything fails? I need to be sure before going ahead.
If the upgrade worth it, could you give me the link where I can download the latest version of WM2003SE that does not have any problems?
Also I will be thankful if you have any tips or things to avoid during the upgrade process.
My device is:
QTEK 2020
R 0.10
G 1337.18
D 1.66 WWE
My carrier is Vodafone Egypt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16916
The only differance is the O2 startup image instead of the imate image. Other than that the rom is very good, not very stable, but deffinetely worth it.
PS. If the phone regects the upgrade at the beginning, retry and it should upgrade.
So you mean that this link you posted, contains the WM2003SE that is compatible with my QTEK2020? and does it support my carrier? "Vodafone Egypt" as it is written that it only supports Australian Carriers: - Optus, Telstra & Vodafone..

How to: Upgrade Orange m1000 UK PocketPC WM2000 to WM2000SE

After spending some time reading through the articles in this forum, I am a little bewildered. Its obviously not as simple as running a program is it??
I love and use my m1000 all day, every day and it is vital to my life.
Please please please would someone, anyone, supply step by step instructions on how to safely upgrade as I've already had to have my m1000 replaced as I tried to upgrade my rom to the MMS version as supplied by Orange.
To this day, I am unable to install the rom update to use MMS, I have asked for help from Orange and the modaco website .. and unfortunately, no luck but a pointer to this glorious forum from the modaco website.
Ta in advance ..
mrplatypus
orange comes with 2003 and the newer version is 2003SE
2000 pure is very old

Apologies ...
Sorry, I meant to type .. WM2003 as opposed to WM2000 and WM2003SE to WM2000SE..
WM2003 to WM2003SE wiv MMS!
In another post on this site (with me in it) the files which reside in the extended rom after the upgrade were uploaded to this forum.
This has provided me with my mms and I am very much happier.
However, I am still after really really BASIC instruction and the files to upgrade the Operating System on the phone, from WM2003 to WM2003SE (or greater?)
Much appreciated.
mrPlatypus
the post i linked to is the easiest way i think
2003SE is not official or even originally in English it's an
Chinese rom hand translated by people in this forum so i dont think we
can expect an official easy operator install for it
also you know that flashing your orange pda would void the warranty ?
voided warranty ..
Ok, I was asking to find out how difficult it would be -- my current contract with Orange officially runs out in September where I'll be upgrading my phone/pda anyway ..
Thanks for the advice and the pointers on legality.

English user wants chinese additions

Hi everybody. I've got two Himalayas. One I sucessfully flashed with the WWE O2 rom at some point in the past, and another I just bought yesterday. That one is a dopod 696, and I'd like to fuse the two roms after a fashion. I want the machine to be english, but want to swipe the chinese language abilities of the dopod (it's chinese input rocks). I tried the grab_it method - which will grab the O2 rom, but it evidently doesn't like the chinese name of the sd card on the dopod.
Anyways, I've been looking around here, and lots of the tools seem to all be for the wallaby. What gives? Haven't any of the tools been upgraded for Himalaya? How do you guys cook your roms/extract the parts/combine/reflash? The info is all over the place in bits and pieces!
Thanks. Amazing what y'all do.
PS. I'd be more than happy to post the dopod rom on my own server space if someone can clue me in...
