which folder do i need to paste the skins for the xda

i download few skins but i dont now how to install them
does anybudy now ?
I don't know about skins, but today themes go in "my documents", i would imagine it's the same.
Regards
Tim
Phone skin files need to go into \Windows. I also put my system themes there.
Memory Card
I place everything on Memory card!
So to get a today theme to install. Just "run" it from where ever it is. So if you are viewing the folder that it is in, just tap it with the stylus, and open/run it. It self installs..
Sorry about the poor English, But I'm not an XDA-Developer, and as such proper words excape me!!
Martin
You cannot put phone dialer skins on a card. They have to be in \windows.
Carlos: you can if you use xda skin chooser...
XDA Skin Chooser merely copies the skin files from the card into \windows. The active skin files MUST be in \windows to work, and there can be only one skin in there at a time (since the file names are fixed).

CommManager Skinning

Hey fellas.
I am sure it's been discussed before and my searches to find something fruitful have been met with limited success:
I am looking for a way (if possible) to skin my comm manager. I have the 6 Button lateral one from Custel's V1.1 and not the 8 or 10 button manager.
Any idea's?
You should find one in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=316107
I'm using the HTC Kaiser Comm Manager Fixed.
I see the comm managers but I am trying to find a way to skin my current one. Is there a way to editthe skin on my device? Where are the skins for the comm manager kept at on the device?
All of the graphics for the Comm manager exist in windows\
If you find those files and edit/replace them, you can change the whole way comm manager works.
Problem is, every button is its own image and each has 3+ states (on, off, disabled, or other options). On the 10 button comm manager, that means there are 80+ files to edit.
Thanks Dishe.
Looks like I have a lot of cutting & pasting...
Update:
For anyone looking, on my Alltel PPC6800 I found the files to edit in the \windows dir. The backgrounds are the P_BG & L_BG (portrait & landscape). The status icons are labeled as Status_Off & Status_On.

What someone should do (I'd do it if I had the time!) is create a photoshop .psd file with all of these graphics assembled as slices. Then we can change the background color, etc. and export them as individual files without having to manually edit each one.
In the mean time, the long way is the only way...

i just got done getting all the files on to my card... and now on my computer.. should i make a PSD or just zip it and then people can do w/e they would like?
i have all the PNG files in the windows dir.
I am trying to do what you are but I posted a thread about the access rights of the files for being able to replace them... are you not running into the same problem?
It wouldnt let me modify them at first but once I copied them to my computer, clicked on properties and removed the read-only, all was well. After amendment, they copied over the original on my device with no problems...
Oh wow I will give that a shot... thank you!
I am not sure how that would work though, seeing that the files on the device would still be read-only and shouldn't be allowed to copy over. When I changed the settings in TC it didn't save them either...
Nvm I figured it out! Thx

Honestly, I'm planning on replacing them on the ROM-level, and flashing a new custom rom with my new files.

dc13, getting the files are not a big deal... I have a decomposed ROM image on my computer with all the files that go inside it, so I didn't even need to look on the PPC. I just viewed all files by thumbnail, and grabbed the 80+ files that looked like they belong to the comm manager. BTW, not every .png is for the CM. Some of them can be HTC Home, or the Dialer, etc...
I would have put them up if people were actually having a hard time getting them. The problem is changing them in a uniform fashion!
For example, if you're familiar with photoshop, and you want to change the gradient background to be, say, red and black instead of grey and black, you'll need to create a full sized gradient background that starts from the bottom of the screen and goes to the top (just like the current background image which starts at the bottom as a darker color and ends as a lighter gray on the top), and then make sure somehow that every icon has the appropriate part of the background appearing behind it in the png. This is very time-consuming to do to 80 files.
However, if you had the time and knowledge of Photoshop and ImageReady slices, you could create ONE .psd file that contained all the .pngs arranged in their proper places. Then, change the background of this larger picture, and do whatever you need to do with the icons (which would have to be arranged as layers), then you click to save it, you can have it automatically split it into all the slices needed as individual .png files.
Once this is set up, skinning the comm manager will take a matter of minutes. The problem is that this is probably 2-4 hours worth of work to set up, and I personally don't have the time to dedicate to it right now, especially since its not a paying gig.
I put together a quick guide to creating a Today, Slide2Unlock, Startup, Dialer and Commanager theme. It's in the Hacking & Modifying section of the forum...

It's not that difficult to create a commanager skin, but it does take time to make it look good.
I currently have skinned my commager. I am using the commanager that poorlyduck uses in his theme package but mine has a new vista look.

You wouldn't possibly want to share that skin would you, looks great and would go good with my wisbar theme.

Dark Knight 15 Tab Theme Touch Pro Portrait

12-17 added resolution and coloring to files. Changed to better icons-Created a red landscape menu to match red tinted bats. You will also need the color files for the comm tab to be visible. thanks to Nisse
Disable touch flo Settings/today/items/uncheck touch flo
Use total commander to move all manila files into the Windows folder
enable touch flo.
Done
I am working on a Dark Knight Theme for my Touch Pro. Still developing it so open to suggestions. Some of the icons are just place holders until I decide what to do with them. If you like it watch for updates and suggest improvements. Landscape menu coming.

1. Disable touch flo to disable-go to Settings select today, select items/ and uncheck touch flo
2. Unzip the files on your desktop computer and Drag the unzipped folder of files you want to copy from your desktop to your active sync windows mobile device center
3 Open the program "total commander" (it is a free program) to move all manila files into the Windows folder. like this: Highlight all of the files with the Total Commander program and press the stylus down on the highlighted files until you see the drop down menu. select "copy/move"
4. Next slect Tree-and then double click on the "windows" folder
select copy or selct move
5. choose to overwrite the files if asked
6. restart touch flo.
Manila files do not have to be removed prior. The Manila files are amazing in function. If you delete them accidentally-they are burned into the rom so when the phone is restarted they will come back. Also if you have have the program Diamond tf3d configuration you can restore your computer to default.
i always use total commander to copy my originals. It is tedious, but I like to hang onto them.
worked perfectly .... good lookin homie... the theme is real nice in every way esp. with the details...
Thanks

Just use this manila file, and it makes the background completely invisible. I think i got it from Nisse
ah, I was afraid of that lol. It doesn't work for me :/
Seems like I know what I want mine to look like, but i can't find files that don't interact with each other lol

Send me your manila in a zip file and I will edit them and post here. Otherwise these are mine...
39064485
281cbfcf
274184c5
1608b879
4a059ff8
4e670504
Also the file to remove the carrier logo from the homescreen is 443d5315
I included it in the zip, but if you want your carrier displayed then do not load that manila file
I will post my edited files here. You can try to install them with total commander. Always disable touch flo first. and remember...if you don't like it just delete the files and restart the phone. The original files will automatically be replaced. That is the beauty of Manila!

Niki .tsk Vs Xperia .tsk help required.

Hi all,
I've been leeching and surfing on this forum for quite a while now and never really took the time to post a thread when i had a question. Normally i'd search the entire place but in this case i just can't find a good solution.
So here is my first question:
A friend of mine got himself the SE- Xperia, I took a good look at it and liked the theme's a lot.
Once I received the files (Root;my documents) and tapped on one of them they didn't show up in the todayscreen wich provides .tsk themes like T-mobile1+2 etc.
Now I know I can do such things as installing a new ROM etc, but perhaps thats a little to much for such an issue.
I'm not expecting a complete walkthrough, but perhaps if someone could help me a little i'd appreciate it.
Many thanks and greets from The Netherlands
Dindnt quite understood, you want just the wallpaper?
---edit---
This one works on mine, but the bars dont get flat black.... Nothing that cant be fixed, of course.
Got it from the full theme with extras, here:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=2479
Thank you very much,
I'll check that one out tommorrow to see if it works on my phone.
Have a look at ThemeGenCE. It allows you to customise the tsk for your phone:
http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1523
And still the .tsk file isn't showing up in the todayscreen (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Appearance)
I got stuck at the third point:
) Connect your device to your desktop by ActiveSync and explore it.
2) Transfer all the unrar'd files and folders the My Documents folder of your Pocket PC, except the rlToday folder which should be transferred to the Program Files folder.
3) Apply the Xperia skin (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Appearance).
4) Apply the Wisbar Advance skin (Start>Programs>Wisbar Advance>Theme>Use a Theme File): \My Documents\Wisbar Advance v2.x\Xperia\Xperia.skn
5) Apply the rlToday skin (Start>Settings>Personal>Today>Items>rlToday>Options): Skin: Xperia. Note that the download also contains WM6 style .png icons if you are using PPC2003SE/WM5 and want to use more modern looking shortcuts. If you don't live in Singapore, please edit the skin.xml file to the country of your choice (notepad works).
Anyone?
Thanks
you probably can get more info on the official modaco post, lol...

[MOD] Custom Puzzle Packs for SPB Puzzle

For ages I've wanted to be able to give something back to the XDA community, and finally I've managed to find something
I don't know why, but I'm addicted to play SPB puzzle..... but it doesn't take long to finish up the puzzle packs which leaves you with bugger all.
So... to cut to the chase, following is a tutorial on how to make your own puzzle packs.
You will need to download the Just for fun Pack file:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/ext/puzzle/packs/SpbPuzzleViewsWidePack.cab
Ok on to the fun....
1. Extract the contents of the cab to your PC
2. Rename the file Vieww~1.001 to Views.zip
3. Extract the context of views.zip
4. Create another folder on your PC, for example MelbournePuzzle
5. In the MelbournePuzzle folder, create another folder called small
6. Copy the 3 .MSK files to your MelbournePuzzle Folder
7. Copy the 2 .txt files to your Melbourne Puzzle Folder
Ok, I believe the MSK files determine the shape of the puzzle, these 3 are of the extreme difficulty, so are quite small pieces.
The index.txt is a tab delimited file that sets up the puzzle pack
The overview_en.txt has the picture and pack descriptions.
The next step is to grab a bunch of picture that you want to use for your puzzle pictures.
In a picture editor, you want to resize them all so that they are 1324 x 1500 and are 96DPI
Save your pictures in to your MelbournePuzzle folder
You also need to create the "small" version of this pictures that go in to MelbournePuzzle\Small
Open up your first picture, resize it to 121 x 182 @ 96DPI and save it to the folder with the same name
You also need one more picture for your intro.jpg which is saved in to the MelbournePuzzle folder, this picture needs to be 200 x 200 @ 96DPI
Open the index.txt file.
Code:
*name* Melbourne intro.jpg 1 Views Wide123
*level* Rialto 01.jpg mask1.msk Small/01.jpg 11 B2FCFF 66E4E9
*level* Tram 02.jpg mask2.msk Small/02.jpg 12 B2FCFF 66E4E9
*level* Flinders Street 03.jpg mask3.msk Small/03.jpg 13 B2FCFF 66E4E9
*level* City at Night 04.jpg mask1.msk Small/04.jpg 14 B2FCFF 66E4E9
*level* Art Centre 05.jpg mask2.msk Small/05.jpg 15 B2FCFF 66E4E9
The first column describes the following data, the first line always is *name* the rest are *level*
The Second column is the description
The third is the Large Picture you created (first line is intro.jpg)
The Fourth Column for the first line is black, for the rest is points to the MSK file that creates the puzzle shape and size.
The Fifth column for the first line is blank, for the rest it points to the small image created. These are the thumbnail images.
The 6th column is the description pointer in the overview_en.txt file
The last column... Well I have no idea what this one is for, so I left the default values and haven't had any issues as of yet.
Save the file.
Crack open the overview_en.txt file
Code:
[1]

Each [ # ] links to the description number column in the index file.
It is pretty self explanatory. I have not experimented with removing the Author,License etc.. fields. I am not sure if they are requried or not.
Edit your descriptions to match your pictures and save the file.
Now that you have everything completed, zip up your MelbournePuzzle folder. Rename it to MelbournePuzzle.pak.
For testing you can copy this file to your Windows Mobile device, under /Program Files/SPB Puzzle
You will also have to add a key to the registry:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Spb Software\Spb Puzzle\Packs]
"EndoPuzzle Melbourne"="\\Program Files\\Spb Puzzle\\Melbourne.pak"
Fire up SPB puzzle and your new puzzle pack should appear.
To distribute you will need to create a cab, CeCabMgr makes this a simple task. (http://www.ocpsoftware.com/download.php)
Notes:
I am assuming the using other puzzle sizes will be the same process. You will need the different MSK files, and you MAY need to resize your images differently. Have a look at the .PAK file and see if the image dimensions and DPI are different. They need to match.
I also do not know if you can mix puzzle difficulties. I cannot see why not as it just links to MSK files.
I do not know if you can create your own MSK files, I assume that these files can be created in an image editor (autodesk?) and you can create your own puzzle pieces to match the dimensions of the image.
I've attached my completed MelbournePuzzle Pack, I hope someone else enjoys it. This is my proof of concept pack, it isn't perfect...
Hi
Thats nice, i'm also addicted to spb puzzle, but what i want to know is how to play it on HTC Sensation if anyway possible??? Thanks
