Orange SPV m1000 Rom Upgrade? - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

Hy Smartpocketpclers
Ive just got a little question for allm you cracks out there.
On my m1000 ive got Orange specific apps such as Orange Backup or Orange Update.
Now iff i upgrade to lets say some other rom higher then 1.66 WWE
Will i still be able touse these Orange specific programs?
if not is there a way to get them back?
Ive done a little search on here but didnt find a sure answer.
any help is cool)
Thanx

Yes you can.
Just identify your cabs in the Extended Rom, which are from Orange, and copy them to your PC.
After ROM upgrade, you will add these cabs to the new extended rom.

High again
Ok thanx good idea but how dio i do that? ahhhh wait ill check the forums........
Thanx man
peace

Ok after searching some on here ... i didnt find it.
Can you explain thge prosess to me?
Thanx
peace

UnRAR the exe ROM file (right-click on it, you must have Winrar), you will find 7 files.
Install ER2003Edit (attached), then run it and Open (enter codes below), not with the Auto option, the ms_.nbf file. There, you change Qtek to Orange, then you save. Before you save, if you want, you can edit also the splash screen and the Extended rom. Anyway, once saved, run HimaUpgradeUt.exe and all wil be working fine.
The codes :
ms_.nbf : 0x20040305
NK.nbf : 0x20040304
radio_.nbf : 0x20040306

Heys wow nice. Thanx a lot for that quick help and answer.
Hmmm. Ill try that tonight or tommorrow. exelent.
By the way.. would you sugest to upgrade or wait until the 2003 SE release?
The difference between the ROMS. Is it big?

Until what ??? Sweet waiting, dream on !

You dont think it will be released?
hmm i think it will.
Orange is very motivated in the Smartphone and PPC wordl and will continue to boost.
I think beginning of 05 we will see a update

They don't have any reason to loose money for update. You take your wishes as reality. XDA III will have SE, that's all. Of course PPC world will continue to boost, but with new buyers, not with ancient buyers.

Well they never offered a WM2003 upgrade to owners of SPV and E100 Smartphones so I doubt very much that they'll offer the WM2003SE upgrade for the m1000 I have an O2 XDA on Orange UK and I don't expect O2 will offer it either!

Cook Ext_ROM for Qtek 1.60.21

Here is my cook Extended_ROM for Qtek 1.60.21
I add all the O2 Asia autoconfig, ClearVue, VideoMMS, GPRS Monitor and O2 theme to the Qtek Extended_ROM
Follow this thread for how to install:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=22283#22283
Use the Qtek file instead of the T-Mobile file.
Thanks, I miss the GPRS monitor and video MMS from T-mobile. I'll give it a try tomorrow. Anyone else tried this Cook'ed rom
Is is for xda I or xda II. ??? Is this special for the qtek or any other xda will accept it. I have a siemens sx56 will it work with me. I use cooked rom 40.00.05 in vodafone coverage.
This is for the XDA II/MDA II/I-Mate/Qtek 2020 only that have the Qtek Danggard 1.60.21 Installed. In theory you could put on a T-Mobile 1.60 NL with the Country ID fix hack. Haven't try it yet. But second thought is not a good idea since the Radio and NK will be TMobile and the Ext_ROM will be Qtek.
T-Mobile NL ExtROM on Qtek 1.60.21
Tried it and still using it
I modified the header your cooked T-Mobile ROM and install it on my O2 XDA2 running Qtek 1.60.21.

This one is little bit different than the cooked T-Mobile. It have all the Qtek ExtRom plus the other stuff. One noticably different is the OEM_WWE have newer version.
But Murphy law said if it ain't broken don't fix it.
Upgrade
Thariman!
I need your help! I have upgraded my o2 xdaII with the t-mobile 1.60, I am in Italy and in the mex month will be on market the qtek 2020, so I like upgrade my device with the dangaard 1.60.21 but with your cooked extended rom( is goo for Italy, yes?) can you please explain to me the procedure (or I will not have the country id error?)
thanks in advance
roatto
The cook Ext_Rom is more specific for the Asia Operator. You can still use it in Itally but you still have to configure your GPRS and MMS manually.
If you are already upgrade it to the Qtek ROM there not going to be a Country ID error:
On how to upgrade to Qtek ROM please follow this link:

thanks Thariman for your help!

Remember this is useful for those who have their Extended_ROM read only. Otherwise you can just modified the content of the Extended_ROM.

But I cound not see Extended rom version now.
Thank you,
So is the Dangaard/qtek upgrade is not suitable for the O2 xdaII? should we wait for the official O2 release? :?
To Jos:
Can't you share what's inside your private mail, Jos? I'm sure a lot of XDA II users would benefit from it. Even if they don't plan to upgrade, the info alone would be valuable. :!:

I will as soon as I have confirmation it works.
In the meantime, I need a DeviceData.txt file from an O2 sold in the UK.
This is what you have to do:
On the XDA II, go to the windows folder (with File Explorer) and run HimaGetDeviceData.exe (just tap on HimaGetDevi...).
Mail me the file windows\DeviceData.txt (right-click on the Active Sync icon near the clock on the pc and choose Explore to open the filesystem of the XDA II).
DON'T OPEN THE FILE WITH A NORMAL TEXT EDITOR, IT WILL BE DAMAGED!!!
I already have the file from an Asian O2.
Grtz,
Jos
I have a UK XDA2 but i dont see the "HimaGetDeviceData.exe" in the windows directory
any ideas
John
Strange, it should be in there.
Attached it. Put in in the Windows dir of the XDA 2 and run it.

Same problem with me ,
Brand Name : O2 - Xda II

ROM Date : 09/24/03

ExtROM : 1.03.43
When running ROM upgrade ( run file .exe RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL from my PC , I got this error " ERROR 120 : COUNTRY ID ERROR " .
Using Explore on ActiveSync , copy DeviceData ( text file , 214 byte ) to PC . What should i do for next step ?
Thank a million .

success o2 > dangaard
I can upgrade O2 to dangaard.
Some modification as
xda2nbftool -d NK.nbf nk.nba 921211
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so O2 -sl WWE -v ms_.nbf
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so O2 -sl WWE -v Radio_.nbf
xda2nbftool -sd PH10 -so O2 -sl WWE -v nk.nba
xda2nbftool -e nk.nba NK.nbf 921211
then run HimaUpgradeUt.exe
That's all.
-----------
But I'm not happy with dangaard then I change it to T-Mobile.
But not easy, fortunately I found http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=4856
help me to upgrade to T-Mobile. Thanks to itsme so much.
Hi Chan!
Just curiosity: What problems did you encounter with the Dangaard ROM so you are back to T-mobile?
:?:
Not back to T-mobile.
O2 > Dangaard > T-Mobile.
--------------
I feel that so delay after soft reset , when I install new program shortcut did not show till I do soft reset. and not so many program in extended rom.
But T-mobile rom, also has the same problem, but extended rom is bigger.
The good point to upgrade rom is that, I can cook extended rom. So after hard reset I can use my favorites program.
Thanks to all again.
Thanks for info.
Didn't try O2, so I can not compare, but Qtek-Dangaard combo works OK for me: clean ROM, no hangs...... will try a self cooked ROM and see how it works.
Thanks.
Rom update from T mobile tot Dangaard
Hallo,
Can anybody help me? I've a Qtek 2020 and did a romupdate from Tmobile. now i want to use the dangaard update, but this won't work, something about the countrycode.
I'm new at all this, so i would apperciate if somebody could help me
Thanks in advance
- extract the Dangaard rom with Winzip
- extract the attached file to the same folder
- run convert.bat, that should do the trick

Home-cooked 1.72.901 upgrade package (1.72.00/1.17.00)

I just put together the following pieces
OS 1.72.00WWE
Radio 1.17.00
ExtROM 1.72.901 eDsubSofT (Nevermind the "1.60.36" that is in the nbf header)
"CountryCode" = TMOBILE
All configured for T-Mobile NL

Hi Edsub,
I have just downloaded 1.72.901 of yours and try to upgrade my mda 2 from t-mob.
what i have is te last beta version of t-mob 1.72.wwe boot version is 1.02
when i try to upgrade it with your version i get the following error
ERROR 122: EXTENDED IMAGE FILE CHEKSUM ERROR
Can you tell me what is it I am doing wrong???
Thanks
Hello edsub,
Does the 1.17 Radio version works with the 1.72 Fra, or it needs a french 1.17 Radio ?
Is that possible to upgrade only the radio ?
You can use this radio with your device. No language specifics in it.
(as I was told)
The checksum suprises me.
I can open the ms_.nbf with er2003edit with the normal key.
can you?

Ok, and is it possible to install the 1.17 alone, without upgradeing all the device ?
Did you notice differences between 1.14 and 1.17 ?
You can upgrade every part separately from the others.
Just delete the NBF's you dont want to upgrade
Radio.nbf = Radio ROM
NK.nbf = OS ROM
MS_.nbf = ExtROM
Does this upgrade of the Radio only requires a hard-reset at the end ?
did a radio upgrade only
(removed the OS and Extended rom bkf files).
Device is dead (displays SERIAL after Cold Reboot).
Recommandation: don't do RADIO only, upgrade OS + Radio + Extended Rom whatever you're told.
btw, Extended Rom is corrupted.
I noticed the extROM was not OK.
Just uploaded a new archive wich should do the job ok.
@tde: oops, I just read that on the wiki-page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/wiki/HimalayaRomFlashing?version=8
no problem edsub, I should have read it too before starting flashing... this is not my first upgrade so I have no real excuse
just back to my old imate 1.72WWE, it's been a while since I didn't flashed my device, this rom is really OK.
@tde, do you mean you have succesfully installed my roms or did you revert to your own?
edsub,
Are you saying that the extended rom you have developed is not ok?
Is this ROM save to load on MDA II, which has only had T-Mobile ROMs on it?
edsub, is this the ROM I requested?
Edsub
I re-flashed with the latest Rom from IMATE I had (1.72WWE), but upgraded the radio to 1.17 by the way.
Now I have to recreate a new extended ROM ...
@ Gratefuled: My ExtRom was ok, only the NBF file to be used to flash was corrupted. This means that in the first upload version of the upgrade archive (see first post inthis thread) you could simply NOT upgrade the extRom (upgrade utility refuses it).
The currently available RUU172901_eDsuBsofT.exe should be ok.
@tde: The ExtRom in the new version should be ok. The OS rom inside my archive is the same as your iMate OS rom (Qtek and iMate 1.72.00WWE OS roms are the same).
@all: Still waiting for comments on the newly uploaded archive
Home-cooked 1.72.901 upgrade package (1.72.00/1.17.00
@ Edsub,
Hi,
I have succesfuly flashed my mda 2 with your rom. It worked just fine i wil try this further and post my coments.
thanks,
keep up the good work.
I am a new qtek 2020 user.
Can i use this rom for the provider proximus here in belgium ?
Basically you can. But for the extended rom contents I would advise you to get in contact with others on Proximus for the specific network (ie GPRS) settings.
Also, you might not like the T-Mobile startup splash screen.
And: You HAVE to update the "country id" (=operator/device identifier)
.
What bootimage does it have?. Does it has the T-mobile BETA bootimage?. I don't mind the T-mobile image, just not the beta part
It has the 'normal'(ie not beta) T-Mobile boot-image.
Images were taken from 1.60.36 rom
Is this upgrade the Windows Mobile 2003 SE equivalent?
So when flashed it has the same software features as described for the Qtek 9090?
When flashed to Tmobile, can I still change the settings to telford? Has anyone don that already?
thanks

Qtec 2020 Rom Update (Not O2, Not Orange or whatever)

Hello,
I am looking for the latest Rom update For my Qtec 2020.
I Currently have 1.66 WWE
I need 1.72 WWE
Etended Rom 1.72.800 (i think)
And radio version 1.17 or later.
Can someone help me to upgrade my Hymalaya ?
Where Can I get these Files ?
So it is without Provider !
Thanx in advance.
The provider specific bits are in the ExtRom.
So in fact you can use any 1.72.00 upgrade file and delete the ms_.nbf file before proceding.
Afterwards you can fill your Extended Rom with the applications you want using the Extended Rom Unlock tools.
BTW: This is always a better solution because using a 'wrong' ExtRom could get you into CountryID trouble with the next upgrade.
There are numerous posts with 1.72.00 rom upgrades in it, but I  would recomend my RUU172902WWE upgrade. It is documented what the files in the ExtRom all do, so its simple to skip the operator specific ones.
1.72WWE
Hello,

Do you have a download link for me ?

O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended Extended ROM

Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132)
O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended ROM plus Xda IIx Extended Extended ROM
First off I'd like to say that some of you are pathetic to the core. Having said that I also like to add that I believe I can throw any amount of insults and yet the same people will still download in spite of. This brings us back to my first point.
I've posted the M.O. on extracting the Extended ROM from the Xda IIs but no one bothered to even try. Sad is that Xda IIs has been sold out of stock twice or more and yet zero Asian O2 Xda IIs owners came forward.
It doesn't matter anyway. End of story.
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
Thank you for your postings.
I don't own an IIs so I really look forward to such postings to have an enhanced experience.
Thank you again.
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
One question.
Whats the difference between the 2 EXT ROMs? Care to elaborate whats added/removed?
Thanks
RE
Ooooops! Sorry!
The 1st file is not the EXT ROM.
Umm, first of all I'd like to thank you for providing your ROMs to us. In my case, it's not like I'm not putting an effort in looking for an Asian XDAIIs Extended ROM. But the people that I know, none of them owns an XDAIIs. So I guess you should try to understand that not all people are as fortunate as you are to have a friend that owns an XDAIIs and allows you to copy files off it ... Try not to be bitter and just remember that we are just trying to help each other out here ... Thanks again, doc.
Thanks Dr. Stein! I hope my mongrel 2003SE will now begin to look like an 02 after im done customizing.
Apology
I sincerely apologize for my outburst. It was wrong for me to take on this forum as my wrath does not belong here.
And now for the business proper.
The first zip file contains the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) and Radio 1.18.00 and not Xda IIs ROM and Radio as this has not yet been exploited.
The second is the O2 Xda IIs Asian Extended ROM plus Xda IIx Extended Extended ROM which has two folders carrying CABs to be extracted to the folders named.
Dr.Stein
Trying to irritate you again Is it only for XDAIIs or for XDAII also
First file is it similar to dcs or mystery man's version. I mean is
OS ROM :2.06
or
OS ROM : 2.02t1
or
totally different?
. I am asking this as I am on dialup connection and it takes hours to download 17MB here
RE
Hi Dr. Stein!
Just to confirm.
In order to perform the upgrade I'll have to dump all the EXT ROM files (from the 2 folders) into the same folder as the Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition Version 4.21.1088 (Build 14132) and Radio 1.18.00 and then run HimaUpgradeUT, right?
2nd question - If I only need S'pore and Malaysia telcos I'll have to edit the AutoConfig file by deleting all other unwanted telcos and re-save it again, correct?
You need not to reflash ur device. I have my extended ROM unlocked so I just deleted everything from extended rom and filled it with the one dr. has provided. Did a hard reset and everything came alive. I've to say this extended rom is great except camera doesn't seem to work. I recon if i remove Camera_Patch_10080401.sa.CAB from config. txt, things should be fine with camera as well.
Don't forget to remove TPDISABLE.EXE from config.txt otherwise u won't be able to interact with SE warning msg. Enjoy!

Negative.
Extract the contents of Extended ROM and Storage folders to the respective named folders existing in your Xda II.
Now run the HimaUpgradeUT.exe from the WM2003SE Xda IIx folder.

Provided the Xda II has already been flashed with WM2003SE ROM and Radio ROM of your choice.
The camera patch is needed for SE customization. Your camera didn't work probably because you did not install the CABs from the Storage folder I have included as an Extended Extended ROM. If you go through the Config.txt you will know what I am talking about.

Yes Dr. I did copy files in storage folder as well. All those cabs were also installed during extended rom setup as they're mentioed in config.txt file. My problem is that camera applicatin opens but viewfinder doesn't seem to work. Camea version is 2.21 (Build 17576).
Strange
Why does mine show Version 2.50 (Build 15954)?
Are you certain you installed the 2 Camera CABs from the Storage folder?
I'm sure because all other storage apps like extended rom unlocker, view, intellidial and intellipad are installed. I wonder what went wrong with the camera
