guide
Ok here you go, its a little outdated but its what I still use:
Qman's how to use XDArit to write nk.nb1 or nk.nbf to your SD card aka the Bootloader Method!
1. Place XDArit and the nk.nb1 or nk.nbf file in the same folder and start XDArit.
2. Select your SD card (disk drive) from the drop down menu.
3. Select Write to SD
Notice that the Windows CE box is already checked so just click the browse button at the end of that window.
4. Select your (nk.nb1 or nk.nbf) image and then Open
Notice by default XDArit will open looking for a *.nb1 file but if you're going to use a .nbf file you'll have to manually change the "Files of Type" to *.nbf
Notice that nk.nbo / nk.nbo was automatically added as your boot-loader and its check box is unchecked so leave it that way and click OK. XDArit should start writing to the card.
When XDArit has finished writing the image put the SD-card into the XDA and hold the power button and soft reset. You'll be taken to the below screen:
SD DOWNLOAD
Card Type:
CE OS & BOOT
Press action to Download
Or
Press REC to Exit
Press action to download and it will start the download/restore from the SD card.
Follow the on screen instructions once its "Completed" which will consist of a "Soft Boot/Reset".

BTW the above is based on using XDArit version 1.0 which can be download from the software section at:

i dont have a SD card disk drive on my computer. I have an SPV and by putting the SD card into it, i can write to the SD card by using the windows interface tho. can i simply drag and drop the nb1 file to the sd card instead of the XDArit method?
thanks very much for that reply mate. hopefully ill my XDA will return from hospital soon.
nope that doesnt work. i can manually copy files onto the sd card but copying just the nb1 file onto the card and rebooting doenst achieve anything.

hi:
that happened to me this morning.
here's how i fixed it:
i have a sd card, and went to a t-mobile store, asked to borrow one of their phones, used wallaby bootloader (soft reset with the backlight button held down) to write the boot os to the sd card.
then popped the sd card in my phone, wallaby bootloader to load the image, and presto!
working phone.

Re: There is no Screen: 'SD Download' when flash ROM from SD
I know the problem is.
My BootLoader is 5.17, and must have a card key in my SD Card to use it.
My question is how to write a card key to my SD Card, so that I can flash my ROM.
Please help me
Thanks a lot
Try bootloader downgrade
There are issues regarding re-flashing w/bootloader 5.17. I had a 5.17 too before and I tried downgrading to 5.15 that allowed me to reflash my ROM. Check this out:
http://www.romkitchen.de/
search for the topic "how to unlock your device" (Thanks to Lumpi for this one)
I have read also somewhere in the forum that allows a workaround to get pass the 5.17 bootloader, I just can't remember exactly where.
Good luck!
Re: Try bootloader downgrade
I've readed it, and downloading file from romkitchen.de is in progress.
Well, I can't downgrade 5.17 to 5.15 because my USB Connection on my XDA ROM was erased, so I can't downgrade from PC.
It should be downgraded by SD Card only.
My question is: In http://romkitchen.de there's option to download like this
How would you like your ROM?
installer EXE
zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing)
zipped NK.nbf (advanced users)
I must choose zipped NK.nb1 (SD-card flashing). But is it included ROM 5.15?
IF it is included ROM 5.15, thanks God. But if not, it's useless..
Please help me...
Thanks a lot..

Bootloader
Bootloader is different from the ROM. You can get Wallaby bootloader 5.15 from the ftp site:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wallaby/
Check this thread also:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=97306
This process worked for me. During that time (GSM error), I wasn't also able to connect to my PC thus downgraded my bootloader and re-flashed ROM via SD card.

Still problem: Can I format with MMC not SD?
Thanks for the tutorial.
I've already tried with my MMC 512MB.
But it didn't worked.
It didn't show "SD Download". There was nothing, only Diagnostic when entered Bootloader 5.17
Was it because of my MMC Card?
Should it be used SD Card?
I don't have SD Card, only MMC.
Can I use it?
Or, is there another solution for my problem?
I think, if there were a software for ActiveSync CAB on PDA, it would help to connect to PC, since my ROM couldn't connect to PC.
Or, is there any software to format MMC Card to be an SD Card?
Please help me
Thanks a lot for your support.

Already Done. It worked. Thanks a lot
Dear all,
I'm very happy today. It worked for me.
Thanks a lot for your support.
I'm great to be in this forum.
Thanks a lot.
At my explanation below, finally I found, I did wrong procedure.
I inserted my MMC when it was off, then full reset
In the tutorial, it was not mentioned detail.
The right procedure: insert SD/MCC when it is on, then full reset.
But anyway, it worked, I love my XDA.......
God bless you all.

Help with Aussie 3 network WM6 -> dopod 838 pro

Hi I have done a search on the existing thread but can't find any relevant topic (for aussie).
I have a dopod 838 pro current using Black 3.0.1
IPL 1.04
SPL 2.03
I have decided to flash the ROM back to the official 3 network WM6, so I downloaded the RUU from 3 network website, and run the RUU. It works fine until it booted the phone into bootloader mode, and it just won't continue anymore (no memory card in the slot) The error message is saying it can't detect my phone (well activesync doesn't recognise the phone in bootloader mode anyway).
So I un-packed the RUU, renamed the NBH file to Heraimg and put it to my microSD. however my phone (while in bootloader mode) doesn't detect the microSD card.
can anyone give me a hint here?

1. Make sure you've got a good charge in your battery as it will take a while! Make sure the card is Fat32 formatted.
2. Rename the file on the SD card HERMIMG.nbh (your typo or lack of extension may have caused a failure as the bootloader looks for the exact filename)
3. Put the card in and then hold down the OK button (left side) and the power button (right side) and press reset with your stylus.
4. After a couple of seconds - you should get a screen with instructions on it (and list of what's to be updated) - Follow the instructions and all should work.
Hope this helps - good luck!

Flashing ????????

I just recently got the startrek or 3125 and i was looking at the wiki on how to cid unlock it but i follow all the instructions but still i eather get lost or dont know what to do anymore can anyone help
please
try flasing using micro sd card
make sure your micro sd card is formatted to fat32.
download surrealnetworksappunlock.cab and run on your phone.
download your rom of choice to your pc.
(open the rom with winrar and you should see 2 folders, 1 named ruu and 1 named sspl)
open the ruu folder and extract the file ruu_signed.nbh to your desktop.
open the sspl folder and extract the files jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl (shortcut) to your desktop.
copy the jumpspl.exe, spl.nb and spl shortcut to your root directory on your device (not the storage card)
on your desktop, rename the ruu_signed.nbk file to starimg.nbk
copy the starimg.nbk file to the root of your storage card.
run the spl shortcut (it is the 36 bit file) from your phones root directory, your will get a prompt that the phone is searching the sd card, then select that you want to replace the os. should only take 20-30 sec, restart the phone when it prompts you.
fyi, you can have multiple nbk images on your card, just create a folder for your images, make sure to name the images accordingly, ie.. starimgwm6 or starimgwm6.1 etc...
then when you are bored or feel the need to change your os, just rename the image to starimg, place it on the root of the sd card and swap os's to your hearts content.
you can use the same process to change radios as well.
Hi, I also just got a used 3125, but no data cable. I used the SD Flash method to update to the last official Cingular ROM with no problems.
I've wanted to flash to the wm6 or wm6.1 roms here, but without the data cable I thought I was out of luck. Does the method you describe above work on all of these "unofficial" ROMs?
Just wanted a better explaination of what you meant by:
download your rom of choice to your pc.

The SD Flash thread specifically said only official ROM could be flashed from SD Card.
rom choice
has worked for me.
Great. I will try tonight.
I see that the two WM6.1 roms come only as "clean" versions... has anyone made a "Cingular OEM" version of wm6.1? If I use the "clean" ROM, what would I need to do to fully use the phone on Cingular network (USA)?
Lewnetoons - hows the PPC version on the 3125? Do you find youself using fakecursor alot, or only on PPC specific applications?
ppc version
It a little tricky to navigate sometimes, but not bad, after the first couple of days u get used to it, I really don't use it that much (the cursor that is)
I would suggest speeding up the cursor movement with the settings, it moves a little slow with the basic settings.
The nice thing is it runs most ppc and smartphone apps, a few don't work but most do with no problem.

thanks but this dint work i did everything correct and all it got to is were it looks in the sd card but the goes to the bootloader screen and it just stay there until i restart it
is there anyother way to upgrade it
storage card
not that I am aware of, if the renamed nbk file is on the root of the storage card it should work.
Just flashed to wm6.1 using the instructions in post #2. Worked exactly as stated. I thought I had to wait for a datacable to Flash, but this microSD card flashing is perfect.
Thanks!!
