I have two questions for my UK O2 XDA.
1.) recently I had cause to restore it from backup. now using the XDAtool the final step you are told to do is press the hard reset button.
which of course resets the XDA back to the default baseline and loses all of my backed up stuff that is loaded onto the xda.
can I restore an XDA backup and use the soft reset so it restarts but has all of my stuff on it?
2.) charging query.
a week or so ago (this brought about the above restoration from backup) my XDA went flat and I forgot to charge it for about 4 days. when I switched it back on finally after charging it had reset back to baseline and lost all my settings etc.
is this a known issue with XDA's? (ie never let them go too long without a charge? or is it a fault on my XDA?

Firstly, trust me I tried searching for info first before posting but couldn't find any relevant solutions..
The problem:
My HD2 started bugging up and froze on me this morning when switching to the music tab. Had to pull the battery because nothing was responding. Then I couldn't get to the homescreen after 10 resets. My only choice was a hard reset. Thank god I used Sprite backup yesterday to back up my phone.
So after the hard-reset and after restoring my back up everything seemed back to normal. But now when I lock the device the screen stays black when pressing the power (end key) to wake it back up. The hard buttons light up but no screen. I have CHT installed and wondering if it became corrupt with my locking? Just a guess. Tried restoring to my back up a second time after another hard reset and same issue.
Any suggestions anyone?
i have the exact same problem, can you tell me if you managed to fix this and how... i did the exact same thing, restored using sprite backup an then the phone would not activate the screen when i tried to unlock...
After installing the HKTW Gingerbread, my lockscreen has disappeared, and the home button isn't working. It's tedious, to the say the least, to have to press the back button about 10 times to get to the home screen.
I've looked online, and it seems people just had to enable the lockscreen again. I can't find the option to disable it or enable it.
From what I remember reading last night some people had success getting their home button working after either restoring data or taking out their battery/putting back in.
I didn't back up data :/
I've pulled the battery several times, to no effect. Its quite annoying lol

Bump, can no one help me with this? Or should I just flash back?
Me too
I'm running 1.83 with an unlocked bootloader. My problem presents itself as no lock screen, home button and search buttons do not work for single press or long press (but do still provide haptic feedback), and holding down the power button only gives the option to power off, not airplane mode or silent.
Factory Data Reset fixes the problem until the power turns off.
Did you restore system data with titanium?
i had the same prob and had pulled the batter 1/2 a dozen times before i saw this thread. didn't help, so titanium to the rescue. not sure what it would take to fix it aside from that, but that was absurd and aggravating to no end, fsck that.
The reason I asked the question was because when I restored all of my system data, this happened to me. I started over again but this time I didn't restore my finger printer scanner data and for the first four packages with "accounts" in their name. Now I have a completely working 2.3.4 with the proper AT&T market.
I didn't do a TiBu before I went to Gingerbread, and had the same problems. Interestingly enough, after installing the build.prop fix, a few hours later I locked the screen and when I turned it back on the lock screen was back.
mine is completely gone too
i had this problem when attempting to restore data via titanium backup. reflashed and downloaded apps fresh, and no problems.
Were you able to figure it out, our did you reflash?
Can anyone please upload the titanium backup for system data?
Hi,
For some reason my evo 3d GSM will randomly launch itself into a reboot cycle that never ends every 3 weeks or so. The only way out of it is to take out the battery, put it back in, press and hold power and down volume, and opt for a factory reset. Three weeks later the cycle repeats itself again.
I've tried re-flashing the stock rom from the .exe file with the evo hooked up to my computer, and the process works flawlessly. However, three weeks later, it happens again. I've also erased the SD card before and after each factory restore just to be sure.
I used revolutionary to gain s-off and wondered if this might have anything to do with it. However, in every other respect the phone is in factory state, as it's been restored from the factory .exe file several times successfully.
Does anyone have any thoughts? Thanks!
Do you use any mods ? Are u sure its not app related ?

I use mods like a new new home screen launcher (widget locker), but nothing that requires root. Have you had an experience where a regular app that didn't require root would cause a problem like that? If so that could very well be it, as I use a ton of apps that modify pretty basic stuff, within the constraints of no-root.
I don't remember installing a new app or anything before that reboot cycle began, is there any good way to track that sort of thing down?
Yesterday I started having issues with my lapdock -- when connecting to the phone, the lapdock would just show the Moto logo and never go to phone view. Thinking it was a problem with the lapdock, I went to Sprint to try it with another Photon. As it turned out, the lapdock was fine and my phone wouldn't talk to the HD dock either. No new apps had been installed nor settings changed since they both had previously been connected.
After a backup with Titanium, I did a factory reset (didn't wipe personal data). The phone appears to talk with the lapdock again and I haven't tried the HD dock yet. I restored everything with Titanium.
The problem I have though is that the home and search buttons don't work and I'm missing things that were previously on my phone, like when holding the power button the only option there is power off -- no airplane mode and I can't remember the other one that was there.
I tried to initiate a NAND restore (as I saw with another thread), but using the power button+vol up, I can't get it to actually go past the initiating message. I'm charging the phone now since it was at 60% and will try again when it reaches 80%.
What am I missing here? Doing a factory reset should've taken me back to initial everything I thought--so why are things not like the original release?
Updating this in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation. Did a second factory reset and wiped internal storage this time. Things might be back to normal...default lock screen is back, extra options on the power button are back and home and search buttons work again.
So I got bootlooped yesterday, my phone started up, I saw my home screen, then it shut itself off again and restarted. This is weird because I am not messing with any Custom ROMS. I am rooted, unlocked and am using the Stock ROM which I debloated.
Because of this, I deleted cache and Dalvik cache and did a Factory Reset through Amon Ra. Google Locations and the GPS weren't working, and although it had zero VZ bloat, I decided to just restore my Nandroid backup from a week or so ago since the interface seemed a little more familiar.
Once restored, I debloated a little again and restarted the phone multiple times (to make sure I wasn't messing about with any important apps that could be causing the original issue). The phone ended up restarting fine so I thought I was good to go. Then, today, after installing all my apps, and uninstalling the the Watch widget, I came to the HTC bootscreen. However, the phone wasn't really rebooting, the bootscreen just came on and then immediately went to my homescreen. Regardless, I thought I may restart just to check it out. The first time I restarted, I cycled through the homescreens immediately after boot and the phone turned off. Then I booted it up again and although it's running, I am getting no data. The Mobile Network tab is grayed out. I don't know what to do. I really don't want to factory reset again/restore my original nandroid backup.
I tried *228 but it just says that "A Verizon Wireless Sim card has activated your service and updated your phone's roaming capabilities.
So I tried the Bootlooping and Network fix on the stickied thread (sorry just found it on the website, it wasn't on Google). Regardless, I still have a reservation. If I do indeed bootloop again, even without the battery cover on, would I need to do a factory reset? Because that's what happened last time and I really do not want to go through that experience again.
Does you phone stay booted with the battery cover off?

No, it wasn't. It froze and then restarted seemingly 5-8 seconds after arrival on the lock screen and unlocking.
Also, after restoring, the Voice Mail app icon cannot be deleted. I have tried Titanium Back up, and now even though its deleted there, the icon is still visible.
I guess I had a different issue when my phone was bootlooping I was able get it to boot with the covers off then do the network fix (it was on wcdma)
