instaling programs problem - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I downloaded some programs and games from internet but I have a problem instaling it. When I run exe programs it says This is not a Windows CE application and other (cab) programs just make a beep and that is it. What am I doing wrong? I am sure the programs are for xda or Windows CE. Is it possible to change get a language pack for windows? Slovak? And one more thing. Where can I get windows 2003 with easy instructions? Thanks for anybodies help.

How to install .NET CF2?

Hi Gurus
I have downloaded .NET CF2 from Microsoft to my PC. How do I install it to my SPV. Its 37MB in size and is a .msi file. Do I install it on my PC and will it install on SPV on next connect ??
All help appreciated.
Asif
Somebody must know from amonst you gurus how to do this.
Dont be shy now.
Install that downloaded msi file onto your desktop PC. If you want to grab it manually the cab file for your PPC is in one of the folders it creates in Program Files. Can't remember which.
Thanx Chunkymonkey
Presumabley, once installed on my PC it will be migrated to my SPV on next connect.
Regards
Asif
When I installed it I made sure that my phone was connected and synced to my pc before installing the msi file to my pc then it did both automatically.
Cheers

Windows add/remove and Start - sigh

Am I the only one that is annoyed that the programs I install on my Advantage feel the need to also clutter up my Start menu programs folder on my windows machine as well?
I installed the program on my device, I don't want any footprint of it on my desktop. Yet I find entries in my desktop start menu as well as the add/remove programs.
Any way to avoid this or just live with the fact I have to make sure to clean this out right after I install something new on my Advantage?
cab files
Install the programs from your Athena using the *.cab files of the programs you wish to install...

I try to use CAB files as long they are available. The problem is not all programs have that. Examples of this include microsoft voice commander. I wonder if there is an easy way to extract the cab out of all window install program. Anyone knows?

I have found success with some in checking the Temp directory of the PC when starting the install - the installation often extracts the cab to a new sub-dir there. An alternative is to try to install when the PPC is not connected - often a cab file is dumped to a sub-dir of C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync

This is great tips. I'll surely take a look at C:\program files\microsoft ActivSycn from now on. Is that only for XP? What about VISTA?

I found it in Vista. Most of the time, it is located at windows\windowsmobile\ directory.
You will find a directory name created by the PC installer. Go inside that, you will find the cab file.
In some cases, it does not go there. For example, microsoft voice command goes to Program files\Microsoft Voice Command\windows mobile pocket pc\us1.60 for M2M\
So, it is there alright, just got to find it.
Once found, copy it to your pocket pc manually. Next time you need to hard reset, you can do without PC all together. Also, now you can uninstall from the PC and keep your pc clean.

what i must to do?i tested with wisbar advance and not worked too.... this is link of theme
http://www.hpc.ru/soft/download.phtml?id=16488 wait 5 sec's for download.....and help me
connect your device to your PC via ActiveSync, then, in the My Documents folder on your DEVICE, make a new folder called "Themes", then copy that windowsxp.tsk file in there. Once thats done, navigate to the .tsk file on your phone, and click on it. Then select it from the list that pops up, though I must say that this theme isnt really that great...ive just nao installed it on my device, and its kinda lame.

Activesync folder in Vista

Anyone know where to find the Activesync folder in vista? I can only find the friggin link in start menu.
Used to be when I installed a proggy's .exe through activesync it would drop the cab file in the Program Files/Microsoft Activesync folder and I could use that to reinstall next time I flash.
This is for Total commander 2.51 btw.
Thanks!
Nevermind, found it.... duh
C:/Windows/Windows Mobile/NAME OF APPLICATION/APPLICATION NAME.cab
I really hate search function in Vista, I found this cab by turning off index (permanently) and using Agent Ransack which will be used from now on.
