Hi!
Anyone fonud out until now where to get the 22pin connector for the MDA/XDA III device? It has changed a bit from the iPAQ 3800 style, so accessoires for I/II won´t work
Furthermore, has the pinout changed?
What I need is a cable for connecting my GPS-reciever, or the parts to build one.
Thanks in advance,
Danyel
OH NO, you are saying that the MDA II accessoried, chargers, etc., won't work with the MDA III?
Well, it looks like that...
I have an USB-sync-cable, car charger and my GPS-reciever. Without forcing the plug it won´t fit into the new connector.
The new one has a gab on one side and two little pits wich fit into gaps in the devices connector.
I´ll post a picture of the old and the new one... MDA III´s camera is not quite good for macro-photos.
Well, I have "reconfigured" my old GPS- and USB-cable. It´s just takeing away some of the plastic on the connector. Both cables work fine for the MDA III now, take a look at the picture:
hey folks,

i got the qtek2020 from vodafone D2. now i want to plug my usb gps reciever with sirfII chipset to the pda. 5v for the usb power comes from accus. this wouldn't be the problem i think. but how i figure it out which connectors of the pda are the right connectors for die TX and RX of the reciever? and the final question: is this what i want to do (usb pc gps reciever at pda) possible?
if you want t answer me in pm dann auf deutsch ;-)
thanks.

Therefor you´ll need a USB to serial converter, as far as I know.

22 pin adaptor for QTEK 9090
hi, you need original connector you can try with 2020 22 pin but after some days or week you will damage you QTEK 9090 and you not be able to use anymore the connector! i suggest you to buy ORIGINAL see here available : http://www.bluetrade.fr/achat/produit_details.php?id=76226
i hope i'm logged in now!
to dev_dme you missunderstood me? i have an usb gps mouse so i need a seriell one. and there are no converter from seriell to usb.
to last guest
i think i posted in fals thread. i have a qtek 2020!!!! no 9090.
There are USB to serial converters made by Iogear, search the web. You would have to redue the cable to connect to your Qtek. But since you have bluetooth, though the old one away and get a blue tooth GPS, much nicer.
converters from usb TO seriell but not from seriell TO usb. i'm right?
The USB driver was on laptop to change the port to a serial port but the communication was bidirectional.
You could also look at maxim semiconductors, I know they make a chip that converts serial to USB but I couldn't find it.
http://www.maxim-ic.com
but i need usb to seriel converter..... i want to use an usb device at a seriell port
They have a device, I saw it in EE Times twice (as I said I need that) that will do exactly what your looking for. It would connect to a USB device, takecare of all the protocal and then spit out serial bits of the data. I beleive the formating (USB-serial bin/ASCII, bit ording) was able to be changed via reg settings.
maybe search EE times website.

Well, your GPS mouse is a USB client (slave). You can only connect it to a USB host (master), which the XDA II is not. So you would need an adapter that contains a USB host. As paulmc says, they seem to exist, but seem to work only with "big" Windows (they need drivers), and I am quite sure they are really expensive.
I really recommend you get either a Bluetooth or a regular serial GPS mouse. Both are easy to connect to an XDA II.
Cheers, Daniel

1. There are several. Try www.pocketnavigation.de for a start.
2. There are voltage regulators you can buy. But be very careful, the voltage in a car is full of spikes and other nasty things. You need a good voltage regulator if you don't want to endanger your new Holux. The usual solution is to buy a holder for the PDA that also has a connector for the GPS mouse. This gives you a well filtered voltage for your mouse.
Cheers, Daniel

maybe its silly but i dont wanna buy i want to build it by myself.
because i want biuld an accu-charger for my qtek too. it should supply the gps mouse too!!!
i cant describe it better in english. damn.....
also i need thias speciial pda connector for the mdaII (aka qtek 2020). where can i buy it for low?
and some more important for me: i need information for the pins. what pin for which signal?
Does anyone know if the pin-setup for the 'blue angel' aka Qtek9090 is different then the 'Himalaya' aka Qtek2020?
I want to connect an external speaker and microphone to it (described here) but i'm not sure if the pin-layout is the same
Thanks!
Grtz,
DUTCH
anyone found the pinout for QTEK9090(Blue Angel) yet ?
please share.

Ive read many post on here and others. I must say Im confused.
Is the new Blue Angel connector physically the same as the previous XDAII connector?
Are the pin outs the same?
Some people say no problem, some are filing theirs down??? Some are "forcing it in" - YIKES
i would love to know as well
The pin outs are the same - the connector is physically the same size, but there is one minor change - there is a little 'step' on one edge of the connector.
XDAII accessories, such as chargers, usb and gps do fit but you need to be careful when you insert them.
Forget my stupidity. I used to own the Siemens SX56 and had hotsync and car charger cables.
The question is now I have the Siemens SX66, is it safe to use the same cables from the SX56? I haven't tried it since I don't want to kill my new toy!
If anyone knows or can verify that it's safe it would be really appreciated.
I am using car charger, usb sync cable and wired gps that were originally bought for my XDA1, then used on XDAII and now work fine on MDAIII.
Do any of the serial keyboards work with XDA IIs?
I tried to connect the stowaway keyboard I used with my XDA II but it does not seem to work with my QTEK 9090.
I'm only guessing, but I would think that the drivers weren't written for wm2003SE.
I have the darfon fold out keyboard that I bought for my sx56, and last night I got it working just fine with my new sx66, so yes, they work. I needed to go to darfon.com and download the newest version of the driver.
I have one of the IR keyboards and the supplied driver works fine, but I have to balance the MDAIII on something to make it high enough for the IR receiver on the keyboard because the MDAIII IR is on the side.
The pin outs are the same

They are not!!!!!
There is a voltage output from an XDAII when in a call, but the XDA IIs doesn't give the voltage!
Can't remember which pin off the top of my head but I have been testing this and found this to be a major problem when designing a proper car kit for both items!
..Spence
Bit worried about using my incar chrger from my xdaII for my IIs. Does anyone know where I can get a charger or usb sync cheaply for the IIs/pd2k? Expansys are charging £20! There's one here:
http://www.firstphoneshop.co.uk/o2-phone-accessories/o2-imate-pda2k.shtml
But i'm not sure its not just the old II charger...
Hi all,
I see birdog has put piccies up at:

(and thanks btw) but can anyone confirm this pinout?
Cheers!
I need to connect my Qtek to tomtom wired mouse, and power both of them. (BTW dont want to keep pluggin cables in and out)
I purchased the tomtom holder from pdamods for the xda, but it's not great (burning smell from electronics & noise interference on the pda speaker), hence I would like to try a different approach.
THe way I did this for my previous IPAQ3870, was to purchase a y-cable (connecitng the pda/cig light/gps) and a brodit mount that allowed the pda connector of this cable to be screwed into the mount (therefore enabling instant connection).
I can find the following Brodit part numbers (846612/847612/845612) but cannot find a UK supplier for this mount or the y-cable
Would appreciate any adivce or assitance available... cheers

I work for the importers of Brodit into the UK - we can't supply you (trade only) but www.incardiscount.co.uk will do next day delivery for you!
If you speak to them, they might be able to do something different to get all devices connected and working without a Y cable - give them a call

they only accept payment via bank xfer, but it's better than nothing. anyone else know any other sellers?
Does anyone have the pinout of the non-standard Startrk USB connector?
any other place to get one besides that german site? somewhere we can purchase online please. thanks
The adaptor looks like just what I need. I almost ordered a couple from the liked site, but it all became too hard. My German is just not that good. I have searched all the usual places but cannot find this adaptor anywhere else. Please, if anyone else knows where ti can be sourced (preferebly with payment via credit card) let us all know.

i've tried to search all over internet and found nothing. the only ones available are the HTC made Y cable adaptor which is pretty much overpriced and useless because i want a mini usb+3.5mm jack. even just a mini usb adaptor will do (original HTC made mini usb adaptor available, then again, overpriced). where can i find something like that? any idea guys?

! and there's nothing. grr. if it wasn't such a ballache i'd get a spare standard cable and cut it up to solder on a mini usb socket. pinouts can't be that hard - although i'm not sure where i'd get an inline mini usb socket from.
I've bought this one for 3.5 mm jack...works great:

I've paid with credit card (click on paypal....don't need a paypal account), received it within a week (all the way to Europe....;-).
headphone only though

just open up the sony ericsson mic unit and there is all the wiring label print on the small little circuit board. just follow the tutorial for the wiring code and solder into it.
work great but no volume control , have to control from the phone

Maybe a little bit complicated...but let me suggest...
Take a Female mini usb from an old device (for example). Connect/sold/attach it to a Female standard usb (not all wires needed). Use startreck usb cable to charge
so close its exact
micro usb is the 3125 adapter type
Is this the same connector?

I thought the Qtek 8500 12 pin connector was unique to that handset. Have you just searched for "micro usb adaptor" or do you know something we don't?
If this would work I'd be very happy but I don't think it will.

buy it and try it
quote "A regular micro-USB port would have been better than the proprietary HTC port"
The port on the 3125 is micro usb, the port on say a 8525 or 8125 is Mini usb
I am not saying the adapter will work, only that it is a micro to mini adapter and it should work.
Friend: The standard mini usb cable (most popular) can be used in extUSB on D2 (Topaz) : Charging is OK and Sync is OK.
Note: I discover It after buy a 2nd cable
Well, I have so many 'standard' USB to mini USB cables I have never even taken the HTC item out of it's box.
However, the pin out on the mini port of the TD2 does allow for other things other than just sync and charge and then a specificaly wired cable would be required.
Common Mini usb works for other stuff too.
Where i live i have no high speed internet so i use my HTC pure as my internet source. Recently (after 3 weeks of use) my data cable began to come apart...
fearing i would have to buy something i couldnt afford and being mad that i have like 50 mini usb cords that i thought were useless, i found this thread and decided to test other features of the standard cable. So far I have found nothing that the cord cannot do.
my 2 cents.

Question: are you then using the HTC as a modem? If so, have you ever tried using it as a modem via Bluetooth? I have never managed this and nobody in the General forum has any advice. I can only use it via usb.
No I havent sorry. My laptop don't have bluetooth so the option never presented itself. perhaps searching for bluetooth internet sharing or making a post would be more helpful.. sorry.
On the TD2 you first need to pair your phone to your PC with Bluetooth
And then there's a program called 'Internet Sharing' on my TD2 menu, you just need to pair your phone and change what the internet sharing is going to (BT in this case) and away you go.
I've heard some carriers disable this and make you pay a surcharge for tethering, which I've heard you can get round with a registry hack
(i can't post links but I did google Touch Diamond 2 Bluetooth Internet Sharing)
Another quick and easy way to do it wirelessly is to use a program like WalkingHotSpot, which converts your TD2 into a WiFi hotspot which is my preferred method if i had to go down this path
Good luck!
The additional contacts in the original connector are for the headphones. Not used in USB & Charging.
e.g. the original car charger comes with a default USB/minUSB cable, not th especial connector as added to the TD2.

That is true. I have been searching for a TD2 car charger with its specially profiled connector but could not find one. I am afraid that the standard mini USB connector will damaged the TD2 connector after prolonged use just like what had happened to my 838Pro. You need a little help with the wires and connector when charging or ActiveSync to get them connected.
Whoa this thread is a life saver. I'm in the middle of nowhere and lost my cable so couldn't charge my phone was looking for somewhere to order online it would have cost me at least 2 weeks.
Now i'm using my camera's standard usb cable.
Thank You.
I have all the normal!
Wow, I was kind of shocked, when I tried it - it worked!!! I have bought already 2 special htc oem cables - 1st one was already broken, and have never tried the original mini usb cable since now. It works perfectly too But I suppose if the mini usb cable is used, you have to be more careful for the connector, because there is some free space inside.
i'm using oem hp camera's cable. working fine on my diamond2
Thanks friends.

The original TG01 Host cable is fitted witha uUSB A type plug (rectangular section with a white plastic horizontal plastic part). This type is wired internally with a short between pins 4 and 5 which is what triggers the device to go into Host mode.
There are also equivalent 3rd party cables available, but must conform to the uUSB spec or will simply be acting as a port extender with a USB A type line socket on the end in place of the uUSB female socket on the device.

I've not seen the original Toshiba Host cables anywhere, but here is a current eBay link which is illustrating and describing the right thing. There is also a Nokia cable on Amazon which appears to be the right type - check the Nokia N8 C6-01 to make sure that it tallies.
The female socket takes a normal USB A plug; the other end has the rectangular format uUSB A plug which should have pins 4 + 5 linked internally.
The On The Go (OTG) protocol also allows for connecting two such devices together. So if you wanted to connect a pair of TG01s, you can use a uUSB A to uUSB B lead; the device with the A plug is designated the Host while the other becomes the slave. Reverse the cable and the roles change with it.
