I really want to upgrade my MDA-II (1.60.00) into a higher version (imate or XDA-II 1.72.00), but I am afraid that it may cause problems.
Is that reasonable?

To me, yep, my imate "hangs" less times, and I feel it has better performance. I am not aware about other major improvments, they clame that battery lasts little longer, but I did not feel that.
re : upgrade or not ??
i have upgraded my xda2 to 1.72 rom (cooked rom, 1.72WWE, radio 1.17, ext rom 1.72.901), already 1 month and all work flawlessly.
XDA II 1.72.00 ??
i think, this rom is not available (official rom).
thanks
ajong
my device is MDA-II. May it give specific problems when I use upgrades designed for XDA-II or iMate?
not if you follow the instructions
of cause it may very well void your warrenty
and i dont think you can change back

... and horrible ClearType fonts. So, far 1.60 O2 asian is the best ROM. IMHO And it will not kill your XDA2, like 1.72 did to my poor imate which is on it's longa way to Dubai service centre
so anyone got version 1.02 or 1.03 will face 1.72(the nightmare lol its me  ) mine is 1.01 what is it mean??!
is there way to change it or upgrade it?? whats the diffrent?
Im thinking of downgrading, the 1.72 is stable. but not the radio stack, it sucks. dropping signal now and then, its really bad. 1.66 didnt have that problem..
1.72.104

No problem with 1.72.104 whatsoever - improvements in all aspects.
In fact i only have praises for it as a dream ROM.
Hi all,
I have no major complaints about this rom is seems quiet fast and stable.
It is in no way perfect but it newer than the others.
After having successfully upraded my Imate to the newer WM2003SE ROM (2.06WWE), I want to know if it is possible to revert back to the "official" ROM.
Can i just run the HimaUpdate... file for the older ROM and it will work or do I have to do something else?
Has anyone done it? With/Without success?
as far as I know, YES
if you'll run into any troubles, just let me know.
buzz
Absolutely YES!!!... mine was reverted from 2.20 to 2.02 to 2.20 to 2.06 to 1.77 to 2.02 to 1.77 to 2.20 to 2.06.. YES i am experimenting something from that all updates still i have no exoerience having problem... Just run Himaupgr...exe.. thats all
Mind you, since my device is an imate, i ran the "modified" version of the XDA II rom (modified for the carrier, country code and language). And I dont remember where I read it. but I think someone somewhere said that its not as simple as just running the HimaUpdate file.
But the HimaUpdate I will be running to revert back to the official Imate ROM (1.72) is made by Imate so I would think the country, carrier and language settings in that one are already correct.
So you sure I can just run it?
BTW, Reason I am reverting is because I think my signal reception is degraded (from before the upgrade even) and it seems to be a hardware issue. So to get it fixed by them (its under warrenty) I need to have the official rom or the warrenty is void.
Ok boys, I'm gonna do it. (after one more confirmation from you) just a little scared I am you see.....
I need to upgrade to WM2003SE, but I really read a lot of topics in this forum about that, I heard some people say that this version is good and has no problems, and some else say that it is full of problems. This is my very first time to try upgrading my XDA, I heard that it may become just a piece of junk if anything fails.. so I am very worried about that guys.
So I need 2 things from you:
I need to know if this upgrade worth it or not, will my device die if anything fails? I need to be sure before going ahead.
If the upgrade worth it, could you give me the link where I can download the latest version of WM2003SE that does not have any problems?
Also I will be thankful if you have any tips or things to avoid during the upgrade process.
My device is:
QTEK 2020
R 0.10
G 1337.18
D 1.66 WWE
My carrier is Vodafone Egypt
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=16916
The only differance is the O2 startup image instead of the imate image. Other than that the rom is very good, not very stable, but deffinetely worth it.
PS. If the phone regects the upgrade at the beginning, retry and it should upgrade.
So you mean that this link you posted, contains the WM2003SE that is compatible with my QTEK2020? and does it support my carrier? "Vodafone Egypt" as it is written that it only supports Australian Carriers: - Optus, Telstra & Vodafone..
Hi There,
I've a Qtek 9100 with the following verions:
IPL 2.17.0001
SPL 2.17.0001
Radio Version 02.19.11
Rom Version 6.6.6.666 WWE (NBD v8.1)
Protocol Version 4.1.13.09
I think it's a G4 from what i have read in the forum.
Can i upgrade the Radio Version to the Faria Radio Rom 2.69.11?
What is the maximum overclock i can do to my wizzard?
Some times i must do screen align because i can't even write with the pen, anyone has this problem?
Thanks for the help.
yes you can install the radio as it is just the radio it's not messing with you ipl spl.
yes you can and should install the radio. it will not affect anything else on your phone and will increase bars in places where you may not normally have a signal
also I have found that it is safe to overlock your mda up to 286 but never more than that but you will see your mda start to overheat and the battery will drain quickly.
I personally use farias 2.69.11 radio and love it. i also have my device overclocked to 273(just to be on the safe side)
hope this helps and have fun!
Plz Tell me how to flash roms ?and upgrade roms?
I aM new this to this software i.e
i wanna know the procedure to install WM6 in my Q-tek 9100!!!!!
I dont even know wat r the steps recquired to upgrade..
Do i need to flash the rom? If yes then plz tell me how??
I need some serious help
Dont install tis radio rom, cause the battery is in few houres empty and there are missed calls, cause no ringing and notification.
And, please, read all sticky treads , cause u can brick ur phone. That meand u can throw it away, it become unusable.
Read all and then ask.
im using this radio rom with NBD 8.1 and i have no issues with battery drain or missed/dropped calls. the problem is not with the rom but with some mobile operators. i think you should install this rom and see if you are having any missed calls, if no then go ahead and keep it.
ITs A G4 cid unlock!!!

Ok. i have a 8525 and im considering unlocking it and upgrading to WM6. So far i understand that the advantage to unlocking the phone is that u can use other sim cards beside ur service provider. And i havent read anything about WM6. Wat is the advantage of WM6 over WM5 wat features does it come with that WM5 doesnt have or is just the feel of it that people like more? Do u need to unlock ur phone to upgrade it or vice versa.
My phone:
Herm100
ROM version: 1.34.502.1
Radio version: 1.16.00.00
Can ne1 help answer my questions plz?

You don't have to unlock your phone to upgrade to WM6. Read the Hermes Wiki section on upgrading ROMs for lots of great info on upgrading. I'd recommend flashing the official AT&T WM6 ROM with the new radio. If you like it, then consider using one of the "cooked" WM6 ROMs that removes the AT&T bloatware.
I upgraded my 8525 to WM6 a few months ago, and it's far better than WM5. Faster, stable, HTML e-mail. I'd never go back to WM5.
Good luck!

If you need to ask this question then you obviously need to read a bit more The first problem is that when you read more you get more confidence, then you start flashing. This is where your problems begin....
.... too much choice of ROMs
.... better ROMs here than at M$
.... better performance
.... can BRICK your phone if you don't take care
.... loads of add-ons that you didn't know you desperately needed
.... you'll hapilly give up a romantic evening with your missus (man/animal/hoover etc) because you're waiting for the latest Schap's and want to be first to test it
A bit more seriously (from a sarcastic tw*t like me) - your radio is a bit old and could definately do with an upgrade for better performance. Flashing radio's can be more dangerous than flashing OS ROMs so take care and read a lot - and before deciding which radio to try, do some research because everyone here hates the 'which radio is best for me in China/Europe/Mars' type of question. I'm guessing that with an 8525 you are from the good 'ol US of A and the radio's all seem to work differently depending on where you are - do a bit of research on your carrier (cingulat, ATT etc) and I'm sure you'll get some good advice - and if you're with AT&T then you're in luck - VP3G does a great ROM optimised for their network.
Have fun, and if you get hooked say goodbye to the missus (man/animal/hoover)
Well stated ach2. Nicely done! For a sarcastic t*** like you anyway.
Anyway, once you have done some reading and are ready to give it a go, check out THE MRVANX GUIDES to help you get a nice smooth upgrade.
thx everyone for ur suggestions.
it can b a lil overwhelming how much info there is so sorry for a repetitive question.
