Hello everybody,
I recently posted a topic about the need of a step by step guide in relation to upgrades of XDA's or other subjects but, they had to be in an understandable, easy to follow English for the less gifted amongst us. With this I mean the non pure computer language specialists.
Well, with thanks to PDAMobiz.com I found a very useful guide made by Caustic. I used it and it worked perfect to change from a German 1.72GER to the 1.72.81WWE with Blackberry. It can also be used to upgrade to WM2003SE as stated in this guide.
It is a fairly simple procedure, you only have to replace one file with another one as described. You will need WinRar or some program of this nature.
Again, I want to warn all users that it worked perfectly for me but using this information is of course, at your own risk.
All info can be found here. http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=143&KW=Caustic
I hope some of you can benefit from this.
If you have any comments or more step by step guides to offer, please do reply to this topic.
Greetings
It would be great if there was a simple How to section, where genius' could post stuff for amateurs (like me)
eg
How to ... root your hero (for noobs)
etc
Cheers

By all means..... care to write it???
Most people posting processes/procedures here will assume a certain level of knowledge, and aren't really in the business of writing "... for dummies" guides (no offence to anyone). As has already been said, search is your best friend because all of the information you require is available - you just need to find it.
As an aside, with the later ROMs you need to use the Goldcard method to downgrade and root your Hero, and the procedure that has already been given is about as simple as it is going to get because it is a complicated process.
Regards,
Dave
Funny, I thought all the thread stickies at the top of each forum were mostly this kind of information... its pays to search, read first, ask later.
Especially here
Let's not forget the Wiki, which can be updated by anyone. If you find what you need while searching, update the wiki yourself so that other new hero owners can also find the information easily....
Hey all..
I see a lot of reference to 'adb' and people putting up on the forum codes which they ask people to run to overcome issues. There is reference to something called adb and I have no idea what this is....
Can someone pls put up a noob guide to explain all this... Thanks
Ian

thanks all...
I'm very sorry to ask this, but I'm searching and searching and most of the threads with rom's just don't explain anything. The just say "there are plenty of post explaining this". But how can people try something, if in the thread of the ROM avoid explanations, how can we move foward in DEV the nook tablet when the whole organization of this part of the forum is lacking a lot of "how to's"
I'm not the most knowledged android user, but after 3 devices, all of them rooted and with custom roms it's hard to come to the nook tablet forum and not being able to do much,
If someone could point me out in the right direction I would appreciate and then the admin can close this thread.
Cheers

Thanks.
What is there to look at? All the directions are plain and simple and not to be rude but if you can't follow those directions you may want to rethink what and why you are doing this.
