I've been looking for the link to the new o2 UK ROM upgrade for the XDAII.
I'm pretty sure that I am looking on the right site (www.myxda.com) and that I've already downloaded the launch ROM and the upgrade. But now I cannot find the link anymore...
As I've already encountered some bugs in my German ROM so that I am not sure if o2 UK maybe has withdrawn the release?!?
Has anybody some information on that? Is there still a working link on the o2 UK site? If not - why? :roll:

UPDATE: Okay, found it. Seems like there are several ways to download the latest update...

On www.myxda.com is the O2 website, even you inside you also can't download the rom, because the website must have password only you can access. for UK go to www.my-xda.com then you can download from there.
Hi. I'm very new to the XDA II, just received mine this morning, previously had an SPV E200. I've just tried to register on myxda.com so that I could download the rom updates but it keeps saying I am enetering an invalid IMEI number and therefore I can't register to gain access to the site. Is there any other way of getting the ROM updates and also which is the best Rom to update too. I am wanting to unlock the phone to all netwroks and use with a bluetooth headset and bluetooth gps receiver.

The official O2 Rom update can be found at the developers Source O2 site:

The current version is 1.60.50
I would guess that this is the version you probably have already installed.
There are a number of unofficial ROM updates which could be installed on your XDAII, these can be found searching this forum. The latest ROM version which you could install is the i-Mate 1.72.00.
Before attempting to install any new version I would suggest that you read the following post by dcs which hopefully would help you avoid the common pitfalls of upgrading:

Do you pick only one of the two, off to read PDF's.
Here are the answers from the PDF's...
181 will disconnect any connection when phone rings, except the Blackberry, Mobile Web and WAP connections. If you need to use a permanent GPRS connection that will remain connected when phone is used, you should use 187 version.
Also, there are additional apps available for download as well (same page).

You can register a username for free on the O2 site, and get a password mailed to you. You will then be able to download the files.
Ha, cool! Thanks. I thought is dependent on using O2 device (check on IMEI)...
Hm... I'm registred, but my credentials are not working...
You can follow the thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=63862#63862 to get the upgrade working. mine is at 38% updated and I should be done in about an hour or so.
The extra applications file is attached to this post for simplicity...

Check my post here. My guess is your previous upgrade set your operator in the device to a non-O2 value.

A release from O2Asia is expected. O2Asia usually follows about a week after O2UK, I think.
Hi I tried to upgrade my Imate to 2003 se and I get an error message not suitable for your country how do I get a South African version or do I need to do another step.

you may want to check it out as it has most (if not all) the se rom upgrade versions. i also read somewhere in here that club-imate has an official se rom for imate users...but don't quote me on that

There's actually no SA edition out there - neither vodacom and MTN have the full featured "dedication" that O2 and T-mobile have in other regions so the i-mate you have is the "unbranded" edition with a stock Global ROM. Don't have time to find the link myself but what you want to investigate on these boards is changing the country code of the update files. Search fo Country code error?! or something similar. Double check your country id with the utility under the same posts. Hope this helps

Hungarian ROM in the UK
Bought my vario 2 on e-bay and it did not come with a CD I have called up T-mobile and they wont give me one. When I switch on my phone it says "test only not for sale"...I basically looking to reinstall the t-mobile uk rom hoping that it will removed this message but can not find it anywhere. Is this Hungarian ROM going to work on a uk phone ? Are the GPRS & 3G settings the same ?
I am clueless any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I guess you got a preproduction hermes version with a super cid and 300mhz processor...just look in the hermes wifi in preproduction section...and you will get all of ur answer....

Very interesting. The very first T-Mobile Hungary ROM that has ever hit the internets.
(T-Mo Hu never releases ROMs... if you want an upgrade, you have to take it to the service and let them do it... they still sell their Wizards with AKU 1.1.1 ROMs)
Update works
Updated my Dutch T-Mobile MDA Vario II (2).
Took some time, first made Super CID and SIM lock free.
After upgrade the regional settings are indeed Hungarian but the ROM itself is English.

I've just updated my (I think is the right term) rom using
RUU_HERMES_HTC_WWE_1[1].35.255.2_1.35.255.102_1.08.00.10_SHIP.
Now the installation was fine but some of the original setting on the t-mobile rom are missing, like the quick launch 'running program' button on the screen, the 3g connection symbol as well as a few quick launch icon that use to be at the top of the main screen ' web & walk , contacts, notes. These have all disappeared, is there a way of getting the t-mobile vario 2 setting back or at least a way of configuring the keys to how it was with t-mobile. I think what i've currently got is the HTC original rom hence the HTC logo when I now turn the phone on.
