Update ROM - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

I just updated my phone.
Im unable to add XDA II Applications suite upgrade v2004, It gives an error message of "Unable to install application please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again
ROM version: 1.72.00WWE
ROM date: 03/15/04
Radio version 1.17.00
Protocol version 1337.28
ExtROM version 1.60.44

Have you done a restore since upgrading? If so you may have overwritten the Extended ROM version information in the registry.

I had this problem also. I did restore a backup of my previous 1.72 i-Mate ROM onto my phone (assuming it would be ok)... Is it ok to do that? Are there any differences between the O2 ROM and the iMate 1.72 ROMs?
I noticed in Device Info that the ROM version had gone back to the old version number so I ran Version_AKU2_172.sa.CAB on my device and it updated the version number in Device Info but still couldn't install the apps.

How coudl I restore without changing to ROM?

No idea I'm afraid

ROM Versions (Changelogs?)

Hi,
I have a T-Mobile NL MDA-II with what now seem to be fairly old ROMs. I am trying to judge whether I should upgrade or not, but can't seem to find any 'changelogs' or something of the kind. Is there something like this available? Or if not, perhaps someone could drop me a few lines saying what has improved (or gone worse) in newer versions of the ROMs (& radio stack etc).
Regards,
Ad
ROM 1.60.00WWE
Rom Date 12/03/03
Radio version 1.06.01
Protocol version 1337.16
ExtROM version 1.60.16
Hi Ad,
You seem to have the exact ROM as I do. Before I go for an ROM update I want to backup my current ROM. But this doesn't seem to work on my device with a bootloader 1.02
When I try to dump the ROM the PPC does dump the ROM to SD card but at the and it comes with an error message saying: Add SD card record info is fail!
Have you ever tried to dump your ROM to a SD card. If yes did you exprience the same problem.
PS I want to backup my ROM because I'm pretty satisfied with it. But want to try newer version too.
Regards,
Mark
New ROM
Mark,
I never tried backing up a ROM yet, so I'm afraid I can't help you out on that one.
I did however install the update that was available from the T-Mobile website so I am now running Radio version 1.10.00 and ExtROM version 1.60.36. The ROM itself is still 1.60.00WWE.
Please let me know if you find out what the cause of your problem is!
Thanks,
Ad

starting with 1.60.00WWE; whats next?

I saw a lot of upgrades for XDAII.
but actually I do not know where to start.
The last upgrade I made was rom version
1.60.00wwe
12/03/03
radio version 1.08.00
protecol ver; 1337.18
Extrom 1.60.44
what are the following next steps to take for upgrading latest ROM and BT version?
you have rom for asian edition, so.....
1. don't start, stay with your rom or
2. upgrade to 1.72 rom or direct to WM2003SE rom.
try to search this forum about upgrading.

Upgrading my XDAII unit.

Hi, I'm new here and I haven't tried to upgrade my XDAII unit.
I have a few question regarding this.
1. Will this void my GLOBE warranty? I have a 2yrs contract with GLOBE and currently I'm in the middle of it (1yr).
2. How to determine the current version of my unit?
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
ROM date: 02/20/04
Radio version:1.08.00
Protocol version: 1337.18
ExtROM version: 1.66.165
3. When I upgraded my ROM would it be permanent? Meaning everytime I hard reset my unit it will install the new ROM?
4. Can I return to my original ROM?
5. Can I backup my current ROM or is there a downloadable version of my ROM (default ROM for XDAII)?
6. Which is stable 2003se or 2005?
Thanks.
P.S. other question will arise. Sorry if this sound stupid but pls understand that I'm new here.
1. Will this void my GLOBE warranty? I have a 2yrs contract with GLOBE and currently I'm in the middle of it (1yr).
Yes, when you flash your rom with a other rom than the original then your warranty is over. So upgrade is at your own risk :!:
2. How to determine the current version of my unit?
ROM version: 1.66.00WWE
OS version
ROM date: 02/20/04
Release date of Rom
Radio version:1.08.00
This is the version of your phone unit
Protocol version: 1337.18
Don't no
ExtROM version: 1.66.165
This contains additional software from your provider.
Can be unlocked and changed. How check this forum
3. When I upgraded my ROM would it be permanent? Meaning everytime I hard reset my unit it will install the new ROM?
Yes, so make a backup of youre original one:idea:
4. Can I return to my original ROM?
Yes, it's possible. If you have it or backed it up
5. Can I backup my current ROM or is there a downloadable version of my ROM (default ROM for XDA II)?
Don't no if there is a specific Rom for youre device. Check the site if GLOBE. Otherwise search this forum for backup software
6. Which is stable 2003se or 2005?
I think WM2003SE is more stable i know because i use it.
I tried WM2005 but when TomTom 5 (navigation software) was not working at that moment i downgraded to WM2003SE.
But the choice is all yours
I don't know everything so maybe there are others who can check my answers. And correct me. I don't want to tell you the wrongs things
Thank you very much [email protected].
welcome kabayan!
warranty????
how about saving(backup) your original rom...ha?
i am smart postpaid user...i reflashed/upgrade/downgrade my device many times.
when i have a probs with my device i just go back to the original rom and going to the smart center with no probs...
EASY!
why is it voiding the warranty...you are only just tweaking the software not the hardware...there original rom is too buggy, they don't have any upgrade or patch to this probs....only one solution is to upgrade from this forum...
:x
Hi kabayan.
Nice to hear from someone closer to me. LOLz.
I have read all you post and its greate. You deserve a two (more) thumbs up. Anyway, I have read in you post that there are too many patch needed. Can I have the version on the current stable ROM you have and all its related files.
One more thing, there are 4 software to be patch right? ROM, Radio, Protocol, ExtROM. Correct me if I'm wrong, based from the above post. I can upgrade to MW2003se my ROM, Radio, and Protocol then have a different ExtROM?
Does the ExtROM contains all the default application installed in the unit when we hard reset it?
Thanks Kabayan.

Error during messaging (SMS)

Hi,
I have the following ROM set up on my XDA Neo:
ROM version: 7.0.0.7
ROM date: 7/05/08
Radio Version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.24
ExtROM Version: Vincent ROM (ENG)
Whenever I send an SMS my SIM card kind of blocks off. The phone appears to be normal but if someone calls me..the phone rings at their end but on my phone there is no indication it is ringing (not even missed calls). Once I disable my radio and enable it again or soft reset the phone it starts working properly.
Out going phone calls work as usual. Could any one please help me out by either suggesting me a better ROM for my XDA Neo (OMAP850-195MHz) or a possible solution to this issue?
Thanks in advance,
Vinit.
Well i would suggest a newer ROM not sure what you have now and also a new radio rom update the version i run is very good check my signature for details
Hard RESET your phone.
It will solve your Problem
I think Hard reset or flash new rom will solve your problem.
hi,
I downgraded my phone to WM 5.0 and it is working perfectly now. Following is the new info about my device:
ROM: 2.20.7.34 WWE
ROM Date 7/10/06
Radio Version: 02.47.21
Protocol Version 4.1.13.24
ExtROM Version 2.20.7.114
My question is whether it is a problem with the SIM card which is not compatible with Windows Mobile 6.0 or other higher versions? Should I stick to WM 5.0 only or try and upgrade to a newer ROM.
Thank you,
Vinit.

Nop. I thinks this problem cause the rom you used. Try another wm6.1 or wm6.5 roms.
tried everything now..i m back to the old wm 5 (and not liking it at all)..the voice is not at all clear in Wm 5...WM 6 is much better but only if my connection problems can be resolved
