Morning all,
My first post, please be gentle...........
I have an XDA I with TomTom 3 installed. I have been told that I will need a GPS aerial.
Q1. Where can I get one, and
Q2. Will it work on my motorbike?
Thanks in advance,
The Batman
tomtom's site have seriel gps's and xda1 is listed as a supported device
Batman, it will work on your bike as long as you fix up a power supply to the gps. You could fit a cigarette lighter socket.
Dunno how I ended up being a guest when I posted that answer. :?:
Thanks for the responses, guys.
Much appreciated.

Well, finally...? Damn, just as I finish mine.
Hy Guys.
Got the Flyer of the Carkit a little bit bigger.
Take a look at
http://stefan-bauer.net/xda_carkit.pdf
There you can watch it.
Seems to be a real Carkit from O2. But it´s a little bit expensive with 199€. Only Interessting is the Radio mute. Rest should be easy to make self.
Regards
Stefan
Hmm, looks like it's made by a third party. The price isn't so bad if it really works well and has a lot of features.
In holland u can get generic xda carkits @
http://www.destinator.nl/index.htm
they're only 70 eu.

Car Kit Nederland
HI!
I am from West-Germany near the Netherland, an I would got to the Netherlands and look at this Car Kit.
I would replay when I see it. May be I buy it and test it.
If its possible this weekend...
Stay tuned!
Stevie
The carkit for the xda from Destinator is a generic carkit, and comes with a custom mounting bracket for your type of car. The kit does not have a charger build in, but it's possible to buy it as an option. Another option is handsfree calling over the car radio speaker, with the use of a FM-modulator. Destinator sells all these products, and here is the direct link to the xda page. http://www.formdesk.nl/scs/DAXDA hope this helps u guy a bit, but if u really need more help, let me know.
Car Kit -> Stoelman
Hi!
I've emailed with the distributor, but want I not understand is the think with BTW 19%. Once OK, but twice???
And I don't understand that, which kabel is on the standard set?
I want to put it on my GPS, Audio, and Power. Must I buy another kabel?
And I've I understand the Nederlands language right, that I could order it without the car specific proclip and could subtract 24 Euro?
Is all this right??
Thanks

Car Kit Netherlands
The Car Kit from Destinator is OK!
It's a lttle expensive but the XDA fits in perfectly and you can build your own cable. Well I've bought only the holder, no cable or prokit (fpr ex.car)
the price was about 55 €uro (without post).
I think ist better to take this, and not a cradle... (Sorry Carlos  )

Since most links mentioned above don't work, does anybody know if this Carkit can also be used for the MDA-II?
Greetz....

No the XDA-I Carkit doesn't fits the MDA-II
Goto www.destinator.nl, enter section "nieuws" (news) and click on news of 12-11-2003 to find the itemnumbers for XDA-II.
Order one of the Brodit/Destinator carkits for XDA-II with proclip and the Parrot CK3000 handsfree buetooth set. This combination is very usefull set for your MDA-II (XDA-II, Qtek 2020).

Thanx Cees.
Hello xda developers,
Last week my Compaq Aero died (i know; wrong forum, but bear with me) and I started looking around for what's available on the market that suits my needs. My g/f owns an Ipaq (with Tom Tom navigator) and that seems pretty cool but on the other hand I have a phone as well and I hate carrying around all these gadgets. So I summed up some of my requirements:
phone
agenda (synchronised with outlook on PC)
contacts (also sync-ed)
gps navigator capable
and of course: nifty looking, cheap, etc etc.
While surfing I ran into the XDA which seems to do all that but I can't find documentation about Tom Tom navigator. What I would really like is the speech feature that the Ipaq has. I know Tom Tom can, but can the XDA do that as well?
Thanks,
Climber
it seems to have MP3 support so.....
hmm, after reading the specs again I see on the o2 site it has MP3 capabilities, which gives me a better feeling about speech support but any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Own experience is even better!
thanks again,
Climber

Hello Climber.
What have you meant with speech feature?
Have you menat, that the Tomtom tells you where to drive or something else.
The XDA does support this feature.
Regards
Stefan
XDA supports most applications that iPAQ does. The ONLY limitation I've reached is in the application buttons (on iPAQ there are 4)
Thanks to all
Stefan, Zviratko,
Indeed I was referring to the function where Tom Tom tells me where to go. My g/f calls it the electronic female (always telling what to do) but she is a sexist anyway ;-)
So Stefan has answered my question and Zviratko has taken away the last doubts.......
I ordered one today and hopefully it arrives next week.
I can't wait. Thanks again,
Robert
Please. I need to find someone with a working XDAII so that I can fool the Upgrade Utility so that I can flash with correct ROM.
My XDA II has been damaged by downgrading after TMob ROM v1.72. Changed model ID so I need a working XDA II so I can use it for Upgrade program to detect as correct model number.
(see post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8606 solution 1.)
If anyone in Melbourne AUST would allow me to stick my device in your cradle it would be greatly appreciated.
Looks more like they are going to stick their device into your cradle
What makes you say that?
I can simply take an upgrade with me on mass storage device. All I ask is for someone with a cradle & XDA II to run the upgrade utility.
Doesn't matter who's cradle it is... Whoever is kind enough to help will be limited the inconvienience by me going to them. (Wherever you are... in Melb AU)
i know that my post is likely to be as little of use as cairo31male's and
i admit that i had to phycialy restrain myself from making a simalar replay but to make his replay's reason try reading this

hope you find somebody one day .... hmmm or something
Yes, it was indeed intended as joke, as Rudegar put it: "with a dirty tounge in cheek state of mind "
But it is true that it would be simpler to use your own cradle on your own computer. That way, you would only need the other device for 2 minutes to start the upgrade, then the other person can leave and you would leave your device in the cradle for the rest of the process (up to 1 hour).
The other way round would be easier for the other party, as you will go to them, but they will have to wait for 1 hour for your upgrade to finish.
Okey dokey, i'm in Melbourne with a XDAII. I'm on the road quite a bit so won't be easy to sort out a time, but what the hell....i'll do my best
Drop me a line at [email protected] and we'll see what we can figure out.
Cheers - Steve
Thanks
thanks to the ppl who replied (productively) to this post. Your offers were well appreciated however I have put my XDA II in for repair as this solution would only be temporary.
Hello all,
I'm looking for somthing but I don't know if it exists. I want a holder for my Herald in my car. The holder should have a charger, a gps and a handsfree option.
Why?
Because I want to get in my car, put my Herald in the standard and drive. When I drive I want the Herald to be charged, be able to make handsfree phonecalls AND have the option to use TomTom 6 (which is installed om my Herald)
Does anyone know if something like that exists? I could find it.
Noone? DOes it exist or is there no interest?
Google????
e.g.

http://www.brodit-proclip.net/brodit/htc-tornadotempo-prophet-wizard-herald-autohalterung-kfz.htm
Could you read my first post please? I'm not looking for 'just a handsfree set'. I'm looking for a handsfree set that has GPS integrated.
Thanks.

this was only a hint.
and please keep up respect!!!!
I meant no more disprespect then your 'Google??' remark. What made you think I didn't use Google before I posted here?
I simply asked this question because:
1. Perhaps other people have been searching like me and found something (or nothing)
2. Manufacturers might look at this forum and find it a good idea to make something like this.
With upmost respect,
Richard.
sorry. but after 1000post. i read a lot here.
and yes often people forget to use goole.
i just wanted to help. .... but i guess with this well coosen words you will have a long carreer in xda-dev forum - haha
keep head up. just kidding
Kein problem, schon gut
I would suggest a Brodit active holder, combined with a Parrot CK3300. The active holder will charge the phone for you. You can then either get a connected GPS adapter and connect that to the active holder and buy a separate Bluetooth carkit, or you can buy a Bluetooth carkit with GPS built-in such as the CK3300.
Personnly, I'm using a passive holder combined with the CK3300. It has everything you need (carkit + GPS) except for the charging. I have a separate charging cable for long trips.
Thanks! That's what I'm looking for!
Hi all,
I am posting this one last time, this time in general, as I just noticed that the Accessories thread doesn't get many posts any more and so people may not read it.
Basically, I have four free cradles to give away to someone in Australia (for the cost of postage). They have no power adapter, only USB and some other adapter thingy. These are untested as they were given to me a while ago but were not compatible with my phone (o2 XDA II).
The full thread is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659297
They will be in the bin by the end of the week as I am cleaning stuff out.
I also have an XDA cradle. Free to anyone who wants it if they can arrange collection/postage.
Im in Manchester UK

Adapter thingy?
If you still have the "adapter thingy" (see photo in Original Poster's linked earlier post), I'm interested. Please Private Message me in that case.
Innocuous Post 1
Sorry to anyone still subscribed to this old thread. Using it solely to hit 10 posts and provide feedback for my phone's ROM =/.
You shouldn't be trying to "hit 10 posts" in this way, it is not appreciated by XDA-developers. Post your ROM feedback in a non-dev. thread, that doesn't require 10 posts.
