just fount out when you press close, just minimize only - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 ROM Development

just fount out when you press close, just minimize only
it will still in the memory running
anyone know how to fix that?
the problems is , some program take alot of CPU load & memory

goto www.pdagold.com and goto the freeware section (451 freeware programs), there is several utility task manager problems that allow you to close permanent or acces a menu that closes all programs from the today screen.

I mean way to do it automatic, now still can do it by access down right icon to kill the program

programs are made to work with the minimize
thing
like if you send an sms and then close outlook right away
then it mess up and the icon for sms sendt dont go away
could also be issues with saving docs

"Magic Button" works well, does not mess up any of the icons.

Personally I like Wisbar advance.
I use it on both the XDA and XDA2.

i think what u mean is SPB Pocketplus
i find it very useful and also kill apps with close/ok button

I actually looking to tweak the register
so that when I close it actually close the aplication
not by minimize it
Thank you no worry man

Great app! I still use Wktask for the task bar like a windows pc though. The new version of Wktask has an option that takes the place of the vista hide battery gauge or whatever it is called.
yeah but wktask takes up too much screen real estate for some of us. And now it does that vista hide bar thing too... ugh, stuff that takes over the screen makes me angry. I HATE CLUTTER!
Personally can't stand wktask.
What's nice about Qmenu, besides the minimal memory footprint, is that you can bring up the "task manager" when needed, instead of it being up on top all the time like wktask, or only on the home screen like X-button. Just press the start button (or windows key on an equipped device).
Its really easy to end tasks too (scroll to the task, press the dpad to the right). So when closing multiple apps at once, this is awesome (scroll, right, scroll, right, skip one you want open, scroll, right...). And the best part is that ITS NOT THERE WHEN U DON'T WANT/NEED IT!
The only thing is that sometimes I like my old start menu programs because I use ftouchflo to scroll through all the icons.
so, I use qmenu mostly as a task manager mapped to the windows key, and have it set now that when I press the start menu on screen, the old start menu appears. This seems like the best combo for me.
Also, it has a battery meter that sits on the home screen in the top right corner. When you click it, it will also tell you how much memory is free. You can configure this to show battery in graphic (verbose), percent, with the free memory amount, or just show free memory. Makes managing the device a cinch, and, as I said before, all without hostilely taking over your interface!
This is a great app. I was thinking of installing SPB Pocket Plus only to use the close "ok" button feature but with Qmenu extremely less memory consumption, I saved so much space that spb pocket plus would have taken. Excellent app
I don't find it as clutter...but I guess everyone has their opinions. I feel lost without WkTask as I like to see in a glance what I have open and the same goes for the battery. I can't see how the battery meter gets in the way.

Any suggestions for Start Menu replacement?

So I've been using QuickMenu for the longest time and I do love it,but I was wondering if there is a better Start Menu replacement that's more finger-friendly.
I have the HTC Touch, so I do realize it comes w/ the larger start menu already., but the program menu, when I choose to run a program, that program menu doesn't close automatically and I find that really annoying.
Plus, I'd like something that looks a lot slicker and utilize the finger gestures betters =D
Have you tried out ScrollLauncher? It's not a start menu replace, but it's a finger friendly program launcher. You just activate it and it lists all your programs on which you can finger flick up and down to see everything. A simple double tap launches the program. Maybe that will help a little.

Well, I'd like to have something to replace the start menu,so it needs to start when I hit the Start Menu icon, and have a similar structure to Quick Menu: Favorite programs, recent programs, Settings, and running programs, etc
Suggestion
Try:

A little CAB file that enlarges your start-menu for fingerfriendly use.
Will look as on the screenshot attached (thanks to google).

I already said that I have the HTC Touch with that Enlarge Start Menu. What I don't like is that when I go to programs and settings folder, and the folder doesn't automatically close after I choose to run an item from it. Plus, I'd like to have something more configurable and also shows running programs that I can close from there

They aren't finger touch friendly. I'm thinking along the lines of Schap's TouchXperience, but without all his bells and whistles, more focused on replacing the Start Menu, Programs Menu, and Settings menu. Think of what you get in Quick Menu, but more finger friendly

Wisbar Advance 3 has touch friendly features. You just need to turn them on.
You can use a combination of MortButtons and FTouch.

With WisBar Advance, you can start any program when you tap the start menu icon or window title. Or even different ones. E.g., I've configured it so that it shows the Today screen for the "start menu icon" and a MortButtons menu with the window title. And the default menu is invoked by tap&hold on the title, so I've got a backup if a development version of MortButtons hangs...

Right, but Mortbuttons is not the ideal Start menu replacement. You'd have to put in everything you want to show in it, rather than it automatically showing what's under the Start Menu folder in your system. Plus, what about the Control Panel?
Imagine the Wisbar Advance cascading Start Menu but a lot more finger friendly. That's what I'm looking for

You can add both the start menu folder and the control panel as entries (CP requires new beta). So you can do a MortButton menu with your most used apps, and include "usual" start menu and control panel as submenus.
Do you know SKMenu?
I use it for some time and I'm happy with it.
It let you customize the menus, including start menu and control panel, and create other news.
Now, in the last version, it has a full sreen mode.
Diamond oem (on this forum) has packages for smart scroling and gestures
I have noticed considerable ease scroling windows and pushing buttons with my finger.
I still use QuickMenu 2.7 Is there a newer version?
.Big Tabbed Start Menu
- When u click on menu icon a drop down big menu appear separated into 3 parts the first on containing last running Programs
Second one .. contain tabs for programmers folders when user click on any a down menu appear show Program Icons
a third part is for setting contain 3 tabs .. (Personal - System - Connection) When member click on any a menu appear contain the Icons ..somethng like this
I am also looking for something like this. I used wisbar, but since there are no nice VGA skins + it slows down the ppc a lot I am looking for an replacement. Anything new on this?
well all you guys want (as I do) is quickmenu..... with bigger font size.
Maybe someone could have a look into its dll see if something can be done.
Or email nanling (I think) to ask him to get a doubled version out ?
err I know it's been a while but if anyone's still interested, there's FdcSoft StartMenu

Your screenshots don't do this app justice! Wow, it is seriously cool. I need to figure out how to keep it alive, but I really like it. It does a lot of things, like show open windows, running services and devices. It also has a nice file explorer.
By the way, it is the very first contribution of a XDA member- Chinagb. Better programs from the author will come.
I may not know what I'm doing, but xtask closes every time I switch out of it. Also, it's kind of weird that the history is stored on the storage card. I guess I'd rather have it go to \windows or \application data. Otherwise, it works really well, and looks amazing. Xhook is really nice, I like having a working taskbar. It's like magic button, but works well with 6.5.3.

The idea to store the history on the storage card is that when hard reset or flashing rom the file won't get lost.
Indeed weird it closes all the time. Perhaps you can check "Digital Memory" in the setting in order to show something on the title bar.
Excellent tiny program, will give this a whirl and see if i find any quirks..thx for sharing...
thank you i tray

I tried checking dgital memory, but xtask keeps closing. Not a big deal, xhook works well. If I'm in a program, clicking on the start icon opens xtask (I have replace start menu selected). If I'm on the Today screen, though, the start icon opens up the regular 6.5 start menu (which I prefer anyway). It's kind of quirky, but I really like it.
Is there an easy way to load window classes into the fix list? I have a couple apps I'd like re-positioned. I guess I need xtask running in the background for that, though.
Edit: about the history storage location, I personally have a lot of trouble with corrupting my sd card, and have found that it's better for me not to have log or temp files or similar things on the card. I think it would be better to have a reg key where you could choose the path for the xt.reb file. Any, I love this task manager-it's really cool. Here are some screen shots:
how to add apps to 'exceptions'?
XHook shows an icon for manila on the taskbar. It shows 2 items in the taskman list also. How can I get these to not show. I tried to add it to the "exceptions" bos under settings, but could not figure how to enter anything into the box.
Any suggestions?
This is a great app!
Go to Taskman, long press on the app and add to exceptions in the pop-up menu.
Click the icon on the left is equal to long press project
Good job :d:d
支持,太支持了!!!!!!!!
Well, this looks promising but from my personal testing I can say that this is still alpha stage... Thumbs up and good continuation, I'll keep checking ...
I've already got it cooked into my rom. I actually like the fact that xtask closes down every time it's minimized. Xhook does a great job of closing apps, so it's not needed all the time. I used to have a button assigned to dotfred's task manager, but I switched it to Xtask, and it loads much faster than dotfred's and is a bit quicker to use (don't get me wrong, I still love dotfreds).

[Q] want to change the recent app button to task manager

There are 3 buttons at the bottom left, back, home, and recent app.
Is it possible to change the recent app button to open the task manager.
Pressing the home button for few seconds just feels too slow.
I'm rooted and on overcome rom.
I heard android is all about customization, hope this is possible.
No reply,not possible at all?
Quite a good idea
I'll have a look
It may be easy may be hard

Yeah, thank you!
I really dislike the recent app button. Its so useless n slow.
The task manager is the best way to switch app n close app.
Dear brobot 175
The main request is to have a instant access to the task manager.
which makes closing and switching task very fast and easy.
Eg. Playing angry birds, if wana exit, need to press back, tap the in game menu, exit, exit, a pop up appear, tap yes. Different app will have different method to exit. Very troublesome.
Press and hold the home button to fire up task manager and press the x is much faster and easier.
But its slow to wait, hope there is a faster way for it rather then touch and hold home button.
Pressing the mini tray is even slower so that's not an option.
Able to replace the recent app to task manager is great.
If that's not possible, I have another suggestion.
Is it possible to add a shortcut next to the screen shot button?
As far as i know, the screenshot button is not on stock honeycomb, its and added feature.
Seeing there's space for about 4 more shortcuts, adding a task manager will be super sweet.
What do you think?
i have had a play around a bit but i think the shortcuts for the miniapps are actually embedded in a java file
i cant understand much java so im kinda stuffed
i did however get the wifi on/off buttons to go in the taskbar but thats not really what you were asking i know :L
just on writing this i have just had an idea and i shall have another look at this tonight

you manage to put a button on a taskbar to toggle wifi?
thats amazing!!
good luck with your research.
if you can make it an app, that can put shortcuts on the taskbar, it would be amazing, and make it an app in the market.
after closer observation, the taskbar can have at most 6 icons on the bottom left. since when in portrait, the space becomes small and only can accomodate 6.
right now 4 are permanently there. (back, home, recent app, screenshot)
if can add 2 more would be nice, a task manager, and one more say...volume control? (like the one in desktop window, click once and a bar appear for volume control)
ahahaha, i am already dreaming too much.
Aha yeah you are!
Well as I've said before in have no idea how to make a shortcut to taskmanager but the volume may be possible
I have tried making an app imitate the mini calculator so you can launch it from the miniapps bar but it hasn't worked so far :L overall nothing really works right now

how to stop app from running background?

On gb 2.3.6. No matter how I quit or clear the memory, the apps will automatically start by themselves without me launching the apps.
Some of the apps, I try to back or find the quit button to exit the app, the app is still shown as running behind the scene.
Besides unibstallibg the app, any way to prevent them from running in the background?

many apps will run in the background even after you quit, ones that wake the phone i uninstall, theres a program called autorun manager, im not 100% sure it works but i disabled many apps and widgets i dont use and when i boot i dont get alot running and i save more ram and theres less cached programs or programs i use only.
