This is a more stable extended ROM since it is based on the Asian O2 Xda IIs which is built for WM2003SE.
PLEASE READ, as I notice a lot of questions are already answered in this first post.
I have also noticed a lot of "how-to" questions which have already been answered in other areas in the forum. Before downloading this, I strongly advise to browse the forum first to get an idea of how to upgrade or flash your device.
This is a .ZIP file containing only the extended ROM, the files I removed (Xda IIs specific) and some programs from the other extended ROMs posted in the forum that I feel are useful.
The extended ROM version is 1.12.924 WWE and was successfully tested against the 2.06 main ROM and the 1.18 radio varsion.
The bootscreen will say "Xda IIs" after the extended ROM AutoRun is completed.
I added the following:
1. Camera Software (none was included in the stock Xda IIs ROM, but does not support landscape mode)
2. EmailWiz (e-Mail setup Wizard)
3. ClearType Tuner (for adjusting the cleartype fonts)
4. Extended ROM Viewer (registry patch to make the extended ROM visible in File Manager)
5. Xda II ThumbPad Keyboard Driver
6. Intellipad (cellphone-like input software)
7. Latest Socket SDIO Wi-Fi Driver (compatible with Socket and Sandisk)
8. CAB Installer Utility (copied as cabinstl.exe in the \Windows folder - just manually create a shortcut)
I removed the following (included in .ZIP file):
1. BA_Album_WWE.CAB (already included in Camera software)
2. Camera_Patch_10080401.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
3. DelAddStarMenu_092404.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
4. Java_V10.1.2.49_BA_WWE_0901_unremovable.CAB (took up too much space)
5. O2_Base_09240402.sa.CAB (Xda IIs specific)
6. o2_connect_iis.cab (Xda IIs specific)
Also included in the .ZIP file:
1. IntelliDialer_T-Mobile_WWE_RC10.CAB (Intellidialer fro dcs ROM)
2. IntelliPadCustomSkin.zip (custom skin for Intellipad included in ROM)
3. KSE2.08WWE_O2Limit_20040901.sa.CAB (KSE TruFax v2.08 for Xda II)
4. spb_gprs_v2.20(build487)_magician_wwe_1007_cid.cab (SPB GPRS Monitor from Magician ROM)

Hi ZeroZtreme!
I just installed the IIs version by Dr. Stein but could not have landscape mode as the 3rd button for camera was missing from the Buttons menu. My camera button could not be activated. The 3rd button place is now occupied by O2 Today and on the 5th line is Screen Rotate which is not there for the II version.
Does yours have these problems?
BTW, I thougt KSE Truefax latest version for O2 XDA II is v2.09?
why is this one less than half the size of the first one you made?

The stock extended ROM for the Xda IIs does not come with the camera software, only a patch. The one I made includes the latest version of the camera software and dows not re-map the buttons for the IIs since I took out all the Xda IIs specific files.

It only includes the extended ROM (ms_.nbf) and some files that I removed from the stock ROM. I also included other useful programs in the zip file from the other ROMs posted.
RE
HI ZeroXtreme!
I removed those 6 files specific for IIs fom the EXT ROM and my camera (3rd button) is now working. Landscape works as well through button mapping.
However, the problem of the vanishing bluetooth headset icon on the Today screen is still there like when I insert my O2 into its cradae for activesyncing. Cannot be solve, huh?

v2.51 (Build 16393)
great work kabayan zero extreme.
i'm still enjoying the 1st one you posted and you come up with a new one!
i've had no problems with the 1st one yet so i'll keep it for the meantime.
i'd like to ask if the windows media player 10 is available on this ROM, if not, can it included?
Does anyone aware about why the camera cab was not included in XDA IIs Extended ROM?
RE
Hi!
I'm still getting the v2.50 for the camera. I think my camera files are mixed up.
I believe somebody asked for it in another thread but I could not find it. Do you think you can upload the v2.51 camera files here?
Thanks
@ZeroExtreme
pardon me pare how do i use it? i'm using your version of WM2003SE on my XDAII, i want to use this ext rom, can u give a step by step guide.

Nice to hear. This extended ROM is definitely more stable and faster than the previous one though.
Still did not include the Media Player 10, if someone can post the .CAB file I will include it.

You just have to replace the ms_.nbf file in the old one with the one included in the zip file posted here, and I would recommend a full re-flash including the main ROM and the radio. I noticed that when I flash just the extended ROM, it leaves my device in bootloader mode.
You can't delete the contents of the extended ROM on your device, it will be replaced when you re-flash.
I recommend you backup all your important data on the device first.
Again, a very nice job well done ZeroXtreme. I hope people realise just how much time you have put into producing these customised ROMs.
All we need now is WMP10 and a complete working Bluetooth solution .

I have received requests to customize the 1.72.187 UK ROM for Asian users. As requested, here it is.
This extended ROM is based on the latest UK release of 1.72.187, and was customized for asian users of the XDA II.
All the latest versions of the software in the base ROM are included, minus all O2 UK custom settings and software, however all configuration settings are set to the old Asian extended ROM version 1.60.44.
I also added the latest drivers/software for the Socket Communications SDIO Wifi card and the XDA II Thumb Keyboard which automatically install as a part of the post install tasks.
I had to remove the Java MIDlet Manager included in the base ROM since the size limit of the extended ROM was exceeded, and I also removed the O2 Active UI since it is customized for O2 UK users. I included the installer .CAB file for the MIDlet Manager in the .ZIP file so that it can be installed manually after the ROM upgrade if desired.
CHANGES from the other custom ROM (1.72.181):
1. Based on the UK ROM version 1.72.187
2. No Blackberry support
3. Added the ClearType font fix from ROM version 1.60.44
4. Added the Extended ROM Viewer patch (Extended ROM can now be seen in File Explorer)
I have already tested it on my Xda II and I had no problems with flashing it and I am currently experiencing no issues with it whatsoever.
THe download is available further down in this thread, I removed the old download because it was corrupted.

Would you consider to put in the SRS rotation and key as well?
Also, can you provide a brief guide for how to install the file?
The files you attached is just the nbf file. Also, what's the use for the password?

When the SRS backporting to the Xda II is at its most stable stage, I will include it in the extended ROM, as of now I feel its still unstable, although I feel that the guys working on it are doing an excellent job (my personal opinion).
To use the file is just 3 steps:
1. Extract the contents of the original UK ROM update (Xda_II_172187_Final.exe) into any directory of your choice with WinZip.
2. Extract the ms_.nbf from the custom ROM I posted into the same directory that you extracted the files from step 1, overwriting the original ms_.nbf.
3. Run the HimaUpgradeUt.exe executable to flash your device.
The password is for users whou would like to further customize the ROM where openning it up requires a password. I only posted the extended ROM since it was the only part of the original ROM that was customized, and posting the entire ROM would just result in a larger download.
Many thanks.
Understood now.
Tried the ROM but have problem with my C-guys wifi card....
Not sure whether it is the wlan software has some conflicts with the C-guys driver, have uninstalled the wlan software and will try the C-guys card again.

As I have seen many are still struggling with the upgrade or having post-upgrade problems I am posting this thread in hope of helping those Xda II owners from the O2 Asia affected or concerned.
The end result of the upgrade will be as follows.
ROM version: 2.06.00WWE
ROM date: 06/14/04
Radio version: 1.18
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.12.925WWE
DeviceData:
U S B 3 2 2 . 0 6 . 0 0 W W E P H 1 0 O 2 W W E 1 . 1 2 . 9 2 5 W W E 1 . 1 8 . 0 0
This upgrade has been performed on my Xda II which has a BootLoader 1.01 hence those with a later BootLoader please consider this thoroughly.
Errors
First off. If previous attempts have been fouled by the Country ID error obstacle please proceed with this step to rectify by reverting your Xda II back to original O2 state. Else skip this.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.
Flash
Here is the upgrade proper.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and if you are equipped, modify the Extended ROM to your fancy as you deemed fit.
Else run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.
TBC
Will resume morrow with enhancements that are left out from the Extended ROM.
I have 'No Eye Deer' what the response would be like for this thread as what I only wish to offer is stability and reliability.
Anyways I would want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved and contributed in making WM 2003 SE on the Xda II a reality.

OK brother of the same land!
I'll try it tonight. However, just a few ideas for your EXT ROM.
Is the bluetooth icon on Today's screen still playing hide-and-seek? I tried Buzz and another guy's solution (at othet threads) but they still don't work especially when switching from landscape-to-portrait and vice versa and performing other tasks when there's a need to do a screen refresh. If it works flawlessly for your PPC maybe you can incorporate into the EXT ROM depending on which version you're using.
Secondly, can incorporate the latest SDIO WiFi driver (just released) because I could not find the cab file for the EXT ROM installation.
Thirdly, can replace with colourful keyboard layout instead of the default mono keyboard? Not sure how to do it from the EXT ROM side.
I think the rest I can customize myself
Many thanks Dr.

Thanks for the support and feedback Bro.
Initially the reason behind me intentionally leaving out some of the cabinet files are so that users can customize to their own flavour but keeping those that are the backbone of a reliable and stable WM 2003 SE Xda II.
However your point is noted and I think it is a good idea. I am working on it now.
Revised Extended ROM
The Extended ROM has been revised to contain BlueTooth Today Profile Fix. Please redownload from the earlier post thank you.
As for the other enhancements as promised will be provided soon.
This thread is also for new Xda II users/owners who are keen on upgrading to WM2003SE but keep running into a wall or are clueless. Simply download and run the ROM and your Xda II should be up and running on WM2003SE.
Seasoned members who suffer from post-upgrade problems and issues please feel free to ask about customizing your own Extended ROMs and compatibilities.

Hi Dr,
One thing I notice is that the SDIO WiFi cab file (the older version) is rather large and incorporating it into the EXT ROM wil mean you don't have enough EXT ROM memory for other cab files.

"Please download from first post thank you"
BTW I don't have the country ID error so should I download the O2.zip or the XDAIIx.zip? Are you saying the XDAIIx.zip do not have the bluetooth today profile fixl?
Thanks
Can i use extended rom unlocker and directly import the contents of the rom on my xda then make a hard reset or is it more advisable to re-flash the rom with se2?
Thanks!
Re: RE
As I have reiterated the enhancements will be attached in another post. It will include procedures to exploit the Storage folder as an Extended Extended ROM.

Bro you can download the XdaIIx.zip and upgrade as you do not have the Country ID Error. I have tweaked my ROM to default original O2 state so if you do run into the error than you should run the fix in the O2.zip file.

If your Xda II is already running on WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE (neat - untouched) and has no issues or problems you may perform the former but if you do I strongly suggest the latter.

Hi DR.
Once you've finished your new EXTROM could you upload as a zip file instead of the ms_.nbf file.
The reason is that we already have the main ROM and the radio installed so no point going through that process again. Using zip file I can further customize and install the files into my EXTROM and perform a hard reset to get the installation done.
Thanks.
Extended ROM
I shall upload both the ms_.nbf and *.zip files for ease of new owners/users and for seasoned ones respectively.

Finally, I solved the mystery of why after loading the profile.dll (even in the EXT ROM) my Today bluetooth icon still disappears despite successful reports from other users.
What I've done was go to the EXT ROM (with the profile.dll loaded in it) and click on the profile.dll cab file. It'll ask you to soft reset your PPC and after which the bluetooth icon on the Today screen remains sticky FOREVER!
Now, the question is why during the booting up phase after a hard reset the profile.dll cab is not activated? Instead Ive to go to the EXT ROM to activate it after the complete installation?
DR, can you look into this? Does this happen to your installation?

Just to clarify Bro.
Where is this profile.dll from? Is it from buzz_lightyear (included in my Extended ROM) or elsewhere?

Hi,
I've just stumbled across this project and hence discovered that I have the option to use software other than the official HTC-release ROMs.
I have an unlocked X7500 which I had previously been using with the original HTC image (WM5). I upgraded to their new WM6 image which of course meant that I had to re-install all my customisations so I decided to take the opportunity to investigate the various custom ROMs.
I am now running PK's Project Black v2.0.
What I'm struggling with is trying to work out what additional upgrades I can/should apply to this image. For example, the various Radio ROM upgrades - are they required with PK's PB 2.0?
Is there a definitive list that describes what software is available for WM6 images, especially PB 2.0?
One specific question I have is: should I install all the add-ons from the PK 2.0 Add-ons bundle? Also, how do I install those cab files?
Any clarification would be much appreciated to someone new to this area.
Thanks,
R.

There are tons of programs available for WM6,
I think there is no list of all those,
just like there is no list for all WinXP programs out there.
The additional sw for BlackTouch2 can be found in the ADDONS Cab.

It's up to you.
If you want Acobat, intall it.
If you like TCPMP, install it.
To install, copy the cab files to you device,
and open them with a file explorer (on your device)
You can delete the cab files after installation.
PS: You don't have to think about which ROM to choose,
you already have the best out there

And something like "WM5_PPC_HTC_Opera865_2211_generic.cab" - Opera, from WM5? Why would I want/need that on WM6? You understand what I'm asking?

Thanks. I'm still relatively new to my X7500 and am still getting to grips with it.
R.
Read the RealVGA thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327830 The Athena doesn't run at full V+GA resolution RealVGA lets you change the res so you can see more on scree, being an old git I use the middle of the 3 resolutions available using RealVGA.
The Opera cab is the latest version of Opera - I believe teh WM5 prefix was put on by Opera - but it is the latest version for WM6 as well
Can't remember what else is in there at the mo - don't have it with me but if you ask I'm sure someone will answer. All the progs are the latest and best of breed for WM6 and if you want them, install them.

Pro's of this new Ship rom ROM are:
- Good Radio (could depend on country region)
- Performance (fast with some customized tweaks)
- Battery life (okay)
- Updated HTC packages
- Stable (no beta ****)
How to Flash:
Check if you have a WWE version already on your TOPAZ?
If not so you have to use the HSPL method to flash this ROM
See here> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=520312
I'm on my work now (not enough time), so this is a short instruction, you can flash your TOPAZ in two ways:
(First way)Run the executable [RUU_Topaz_hTC_Asia_AUS_1.75.710.2_Ship.exe] and folow instructions.
You need an active USB connection between your TOPAZ and a PC for that.
(Second way) Extract the executable [RUU_Topaz_hTC_Asia_AUS_1.75.710.2_Ship.exe] with powerarchiver (www.powerarchiver.com)
Open the extract folder and rename the {RUU_signed.nbh} file into TOPAIMG.nbh.
Put this TOPAIMG.nbh file on the root of your SD storage card.
Then Switch [Off] your TOPAZ, when [Off] Switch to [ON] and press (together same time) the [POWER + DOWN VOLUME] button.
If done rightly, from this point you should see the tri color boot screen
The flash proces starts automatically (when TOPAIMG.nbh is on root of the SD card, if TOPAIMG.nbh not there it don't start).
(be careful here, make shure your battery is full, or connect your TOPAZ to external power)
Press [POWER] to initiate the flash proces.
When you have pressed [POWER] wait some time (approx 4 min) and follow the process% indicator bar.
(don't interrupt this flash proces, in some case a second reboot can come up at approx 20%, don't worry)
When finish do a hard reset (press the small RED button on the back of your TOPAZ with the stylus)
The RED button is behind the point where the stylus is put in, to reach this button you have to remove te backplate first.
Then your TOPAZ is booting the new ROM, follow the instructions.
Good luck!!
PS> Excuse me for my poor English!
Hi
I'm now using this ROM. I much prefer the stock ROMs as they have always proven the most reliable and bug free in my experience, even though I keep trying cooked ones.
As already mentioned 6.5 is too slow and buggy in my opinion, I'm not sure if this is down to them being home grown and often a bit of a Frankenstein ROM (bits and pieces pulled together from different sources) or it's Windows 6.5 Hopefully official ROMs will have the issues and bugs ironed out and will be faster.
This ROM is working fine with the newest radio 4.48.25.13 available from the Radio Thread.
Regards
Phil

Nothing wrong with a Frankenstein ROM, use TOPIX on my HTC Touch HD wich is very good.
Windows Mobile 6.5 still not completely free of errors, logically explained as a ROM has Beta status. There is no official Stock 6.5 ROM yet.
Most of the issues in this ROM are fixed.
Expect somtime when I make a call it shows that it is dialing, but does not connect.
If you end call, and try agian it works,
Not sure why, it only happens sometime, have full range.
Apart from that very happy with this ROM, only installed it a few days ago.
General Comments/questions
The contact list, it is very hard to scroll, has anyone changed the volume keys for scrolling up&down?
Or can the 'Back' key be changed for scroll down?
Also does anyone know if you can change the Camera soft button on the touch flow home screen?
so far i have been using this rom and it is quite stable and a lot of improvements from the previous original rom. majority of the quick fix that were downloadable from the htc website is no longer compatible with this rom. there were improvements. but one thing i noticed is that the fonts are smaller compared to the 1.40 rom. thats the only thing that i noticed. all in all its good.
I have loaded this, and is seems faster. I previously had the Stock Asian 1.40.707.1
It also now says Telstra instead of 3gTelstra, must have some AUS stuff added.
Also better on power consumption

There is nothing specially Australian aubout this version, even not Croc Dundee in it
WWE means World Wide English!
update 23/10/2009 - current project state is in this post
original post:
I've build new ROM based on latest WM6.1 build and packages from HTC Mega
There were some problems with new HCT Album 3, Manila2d 2 and EzInput 2, and I didn't update them.
I use Manila 1.20 and Iolite versions of Album and EzInput.
All other packages are updated.
If someone needs this ROM, I will upload it.
Screenshots:
EzInput 2 will work if you replace the touch.dll in OEMDRIVERS with that from MEGA OEMDRIVERS folder
HTC Album will work if you replace the files ha_skin_l.xml and ha_skin_p.xml in .........\OEM\Iolite_MEGA\0409\ExtraFilesPkg with these from manila album package(in building these from the above folder which are for iolite's album version ovewrite these from mega)
And manila should work, what doesn't work in your build?
dancer_69: What did you mean by replacing files for HTCAlbum3? I have to overwrite _ha_skin_l.xml and _ha_skin_p.xml in OEM\Iolite\0409\ExtraFilesPkg with ha_skin_l.xml and ha_skin_p.xml from MEGA package?
Yes.
In this folder are these 2 xml files from Iolite's album version. When you build the rom, some how these files overwrite these in mega's album package folder. So the rom have the old version of these files and for this the album doesn' t function right.
So, you need to replace them with the newer version.
Hi, Server222,
Please upload a ROM if you have some satisfied one.
BTW, did you make Footprint work with M2D. Footprint is the spirit of Polite, we should not leave it.
Thanks.
Wang
Sorry, but there were problems with g-light and I reverted my ROM to Iolite packages.
Another problem was - YouTube search button is inactive (maybe because this is beta).
EzInput 2 works, but I cannot choose other keyboards. There is workaround on this forum, but it still has some disadvantages.
I don't like HTC Menu as it cannot be configured to exclude some apps. (I use Finger menu).
I just can say - almost all MEGA packages released by Da_G works not only with wm6.5 but with w6.1 (build 21054)
The main hack you should do - do not include PACKAGE_MEGA_HTCScroll, it depends on wm6.5.
Add HTCScroll.dll and HTCScroll2.dll to your ROM (search this thread more info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=541750&highlight=scroll, for example http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4242024&postcount=241)
I don't want use unstable/beta software in my ROM.
(but I can help with setting up Ervius kitchen for such ROM, if someone wants to try this).

I have exactly the same opinion. I was playing with Mega packages on WM6.1 for almost three weeks, but it brings more problems that benefits. And until oficial WM6.5 is released, I will not cook WM6.5 ROM for Iolite.
In contrast, I am focusing on optimalization of last Iolite official ROM. This means removing all unneeded stuff from OEM, SYS and EXT including file editing.

That´s absolutely right! My opinion too! I find a good working old app better as a glitching new app.
Greetings!
Hi.
I'm tired with 6.5, can you please upload a fast 6.1 image? I could also use the office package, I sometimes use mobile excel.
Thanks!

I'm finishing ROM upgrade to wm6.1 build 21055.
I solved g-light issue with Mega packages.
Just want to test it more.
I'll be back this week and bring you new ROM =)
I can't wait for it, don't want wm6.5 anymore
I downloaded final Mega packages, and I'm going to continue this project.
Almost all works, even Manila2 with flipping clocks and location based weather on home screen.
Now I have 4 issues, not so important to me, but
maybe someone here can help me:
1. Manila2 has soft key "All settings" - it doesn't work in WM6.1
2. Manila2 has "Wallpaper" item on Settings tab - it allows me to restore default wallpaper, and do nothing if wallpaper is not changed (I still can change it if I go to Settings -> Today.
3. Mega Album 3 is not working - it starts wait for a second and exit.
Iolite Album 2.5 works fine
4. Mega YouTube 2.6 works, but buttons at the bottom of the screen don't work. No search, no favorites... It looks to me it can work, I saw it was working, but then I added some packages and it is broken now.
Iolite Youtube 1.6 works fine.
5. All custom words in XT9 My Words List disappear after Soft Reset...
I'm updating my last ROM, so all features as XDA_UC will be included.
I loaded official HTC Mega Russian ROM on my Iolite this weekend, tested it and ...
... And I'm back to WM6.1 21055 =)
I didn't like WM65.
Maybe I just too old and don't want new stuff (but I upgraded my PC to Win7 64-bits and it's the best OS I know for today).
Maybe WM65 build 21854 is too close to WM6.1 21055 and I should try latest releases...
OK, I'm ready to release this ROM. Latest WM6.1 + Mega Ext packages.
It's based on my last released ROM, but it includes fresh HTC GUI.
Beside new WM6.5 start menu (stupid endless scrolling of million icons) this ROM looks almost like MEGA.
I run latest Manila 2.0.1919.1432, latest Camera software, latest EzInput, latest PhoneCanvas.
So, before uploading this I want to ask what programs I can remove, and what do you think I should include into the ROM.
As for me - I don't want HTC programs at all. I use another programs.
I removed
AdobePDF_2_5_1_0_378273_04H
FOOTCAM_1_11_33557_0
Footprints_1_0_19112229_7
FootPrintsVE_1_0_18223925_0

also I removed this programs from Windows
AUTOUPDATE
Catalog
Entertainment
Office - it couldn't even search fot text...
OneNote
Transcriber
WelcomeCenter
WindowsLive
I feel fine running ROM without all this programs.
So, tell me what is important to you.
I am happy with the firmware you made last week
Anyway I agree with you on removing the above programs.
BTW, what does autoupdate do anyway, it never ever updated anything on any of my PDAs....

I decided to release first 21055 ROM with Iolite packages as them are stable and tested with our device.
At the same time I want to have "something new" and there is why I'm making this new ROM. So in case something goes wrong - we can just use first ROM.

It should be supported by OEM ROM maker. And looks like nobody wants use it.
Read more here.
new EzInput 2.1 issue found:
All custom words in XT9 My Words List disappear after Soft Reset.
Description: EzInput 2.1 adds my new words to My Words list and suggests them while I'm typing. I can use "XT9 My Words" program to edit this list.
But if I reset my device this list is empty again.
Who knows how to fix it?
Serfer,
Can you include a newer PIE in your ROM?
That's the only thing that I feel a little regret with your stable and fast ROM. And there's no way to upgrade PIE if not cooked into ROM.
For xt9 issue, maybe you can try older package of et9 and ezinput. Just remove the 'all settings' from the softkey since it does not work on wm61.
Tx n bst rgz.
Wang
You can also try to rename the settings.exe (Posted here)to htcSettingsEntry.exe and put it into Windows folder.
